Before everyone gets upset about my one star rating, I have visited this location several times because I wanted to love it. However, I can't. The service is so shitty, not only does it take an unnecessary amount of time to get drinks etc the staff is horrible. Not sure if they hate the place or their job but holy cow they are not friendly nor do they exercise customer service at all. Aside from that the food is okay. It's nothing special but it is a notch above ihop so there's that. Their coffee is good, orange juice sucks. Eggs Benedict weren't good at all and their country potatoes are lacking some seasoning. Since the move to this location, we have eaten here about a dozen times. During this visit the food was better than the usual mediocre tasting food generally served. Which typically came with mediocre serve. However the serving sizes were much smaller but the food was good not great but good. The omelette was fluffy and full of ham and cheese. We both ordered sourdough toast and I did not think sourdough bread could be so small. It was smaller than a piece of regular white bread. Again food good. The service I thought could not get worse than before. Yep, you guessed it I was wrong it could. When we arrived there were people sitting at 4 different tables, so maybe a 1/4 of the restaurant and maybe 1 at the counter. We ordered and I watched as 5 of the wait staff, including the owner, stand or sat at the far end the counter talking. Two were actually working serving customers. Now the restaurant is filling with paying customers and still they stood there talking. One customer sat there for 10 minutes before someone said hello and then said they would be back. Poor guy on his lunch hour just sat there and still the staff stood clucking away. The owner sat at a table with someone and must have heard me say what terrible service this was and jumped up and directed those behind the counter to get coffee and fill empty cups. No one came by to see if we needed anything, so we had to flag down staff to get a refill on drinks. There are plenty of places in Visalia with better food and certainly better service and cheaper. The Corner Cafe opens early. I was there at 7:30 am, and there were five patrons inside; three at the counter and a couple sitting in a booth. We were told to sit anywhere... Our waitress took our drink order, a coffee, an orange juice, and two waters. She also took our food order, and went to fill out drink order... and never came back. At first I thought she was out picking the coffee beans and oranges, and filling the water bucket at the hand pump outside... then I remembered we were living in the twenty first century and everything is done by machine... so my friend poked her head over the both wall and had to get the waitresses' attention- seems they had important gossip to share with one another. A different waitress ( snarky) brought our drinks. She was snarky. Food was brought to our table by Miss Snarky, and the order was wrong. Snarky acted a little put out, my friend held her ground, sweetly, and the correct order arrived a few minutes later. This place needs some new waitresses. They suck. I know waitressing is a hard gig, but a good waitress/waiter is in an industry that caters to the public, and as such, customer service is top priority. Food was fine- nothing fancy- but try to sit where the waitress can see the top of your head- so she won't forget your there! Good luck! Hope your experience is better than mine. read more

Wow! What a disappointment. Service was horrible, the staff are so rude and inattentive. It took over thirty minutes to be seated at a table and we waited ANOTHER twenty minutes just to get water. The waitress dumped the water at our table and 10/15 minutes later comes back to take our order. I ordered what used to be my favorite side, biscuits and gravy and was not pleased at all. The biscuit was super small and not as flavorful as they used to make em. So sad. The prices went up and we paid more than what it was worth. Total opposite of what it used to be. Last time I was here was many moons ago and it was still by the DMV and swamped and was like being at a concert but sitting down and enjoying food. Their new spot is quite roomy, modern and not cramped but still as busy. The food was just as good as when I last tried it. I had a cup of coffee, ham and eggs. Everything was cooked just right and the eggs were just like I like them. And more important the flow of coffee was never ending. Service I'll have to admit was much more improved compared to my last visit and that could be because it's not so cramped at their new location. Friday, April 23, 2021 I went to the Corner Café restaurant on Akers Ave. with a friend for the second time at 8 AM we had breakfast and the hashbrowns on both our plates were so thick the middle was raw I had a Denver omelette I had eaten half my Denver omelette I left the rest of my breakfast including the hashbrowns because they were raw I also ordered bacon four pieces to go with my breakfast but when I was at the Corner Café once before when I ordered breakfast I also had bacon and it came with my breakfast it was not a side order. Friday 23, 2021I believe the waitress wrote the four pieces of bacon up as a side order deliberately so she could charge me more money. The omelette on both our plates were fine it's the hashbrowns that were so thick the cook could not possibly cook them so they would be safe to eat they were raw and that is dangerous. Another thing I'm happy about the last time I was at the Corner Cafe I had two eggs over easy with hashbrowns and the hashbrowns were cooked extra crispy just like I asked and they were fine and the hashbrowns were not to thick and I also ordered bacon and the waitress didn't write it up as a side order the meat came with the breakfast. I went here with my boyfriend for a hot meal to go. They said they were busy and it would take 20 minutes. I didn't mind, I understand how hard it is to work fast during morning rush. I saw a box about 10 minutes into waiting that was sitting on the counter at the kitchen window. After 15 minutes I walked up to check on the order and the woman at the front said it's was getting put into the boxes. 10 more minutes went by and I checked again. She gave me the same answer. I checked on it again, asking if the box that was on the side of the metal table near the kitchen was mine. She said no. Ten minutes go by. I asked her if I could get an update and check if that food in the box was mine. She was very rude but checked. Our food had been sitting out for almost 30 minutes. And she still served it to us. When I complained she asked in a snooty way "do you want us to remake it or something?" And because we waited so long, we didn't want to wait. I asked for our money back and she said there was nothing she could do. She offered us free drinks. When we opened it in the car, eager to eat, everything was cold. And I mean EVERYTHING. The chicken tenders were not safe to eat. I ate one of them and got sick about 30 minutes after leaving. I thought this place was following covid protocols (they had outdoor dining set up previously until the latest lockdown) until last week, when I saw they are still operating indoors. Several people who were walking in and out of this restaurant were not wearing masks and they were open for indoor dining. Shame on this establishment for exposing the public to covid and being a part of the problem. I understand that businesses are hurting but I, as do most people, would like for my children to go back to school in person and this won't happen with businesses like this that don't care about being safe. They either forget what I ordered for drinks, or forget to bring them. It's not hard either... coffee & water. The ladies make very best attempts though at being friendly, but outside of that the only one that does awesome with the service is the owner, she's great, other than that the service sucks. The food quality is comparable to Dennys... except you don't get the runs after eating it. On a positive note... you did get the food fast. Thought the new "Digs" lacks the "I am in my Mom's kitchen" feeling everything else remains as good as it always was! There is no other place in Tulare County that can hold a candle to Corner Cafe. They still treat everyone like you are a guest in their home and provide fantastic personal service. The decor is very tasteful and reminiscent of a roadside cafe, Unlike the old "House" all the seating is large and roomy, for more comfortable than the old booths. Every booth is also named, nice touch! It was also good to see the old Corner Cafe sign on the wall. I had my usual, two egg breakfast. The eggs were perfect to order, over medium. I always order eggs this way and a lot of the time cooks will over or i=under cook the eggs, this never has happened to me here, the eggs are to perfection. Bacon, the reason for breakfast, is AMAZING! Four slices of THICK cut bacon, my wife and I joke that these are bacon steaks, always cooked to order and the taste is simply divine! Also included with the breakfast is either hash browns or "Brian's" potatoes. Everyone raves about the hash browns but I have always favored Brian's (country potatoes) because I like the onions and peppers that are added, so I have never ordered the hash browns but everyone says that they are great. One thing for certain, no matter which you order, hash browns or country potatoes, you will swear that they used two full size potatoes to prepare your breakfast! The meal also comes with toast or biscuit. I have had several items off of their menu and have never been disappointing! Their chicken fried steak is the best I have ever had. OH MY SWEET BABY JESUS! I have died and gone to far girl heaven!!!!! The food is AMAZING! My husband loved his chicken strips and fries! So fresh and crisp the fries just melt in your mouth. I had the #15 which it a bacon, avocado, cheese and mushroom omelet and it was superb! This cafe really lives up to the hype! Really enjoyed the food. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the staff is great. Our server was Marvell and she was quick, friendly and attentive without hovering. Although this place is too busy to allow for hovering. Love this place! I've been coming here for years and it never disappoints me. The only down side is the wait time. BUT, the food is worth it! Definitely taste homemade and is very flavorful. Best Overall Breakfast spot in Visalia/Tulare! New location is clutch. (Akers & Goshen on West side of Savemart where old Blockbuster was located) What was a monthly outing has now turned into a weekly item on the family "to do" list. The Corner Cafe (CC) is notorious for their large serving portions so if you're counting calories this isn't the place for you. It's especially nice seeing their price/portion hasn't changed since making the move to the new NW Visalia location. Be prepared to wait as this place get packed with customers daily and even longer wait times during peak hours (Fri-Sun). Our first time we waited 49mins, but oh was it worth the wait. It's great seeing some of the same 'ol crew like Carrie (or Kari?), Tonya, and Deb. The service is super friendly and can sometimes feel like your family who busts your chops but that's a definite PLUS in my book. I went ahead and tried the Chicken Fried Steak and eggs. It had me immediately looking for my mother (or mother-in-law) as it was so good I could "slap my momma." Today (2nd visit in as many weeks), i went ahead and tried one of their famous omelette's and the wife had the french toast combo. Both big portions and solid all the way around (they must use 1/2 a dozen eggs for one omelette). Food is fresh, crisp, and savory as heck. You get the mid-west, "mom and pop" feel of the "dust bowl era" without squeezing into a tiny hole in the wall in 2016. We absolutely love this place and the people who bring food to our soul.
