Ive been enjoying my sandwiches this summer and a turkey sandwich with peppers onions and all the fixings from The Corner Market is one I'll keep coming back to. In addition to a good hearty sandwich, I tried some potato salad and it's another gold star snack to add to my picnic. Just smoky potatoes, not too creamy and not too much junk, just perfectly cooked and seasoned. The store has all the usual snacks and drinks needed for a lake day or after a waterpark trip. This place has so much potential. Great location, excellent selection. But service is so hit and miss. Example. I needed garlic. This store is a 2min walk from my house. I don't mind paying extra for the convenience. So I knew going in the cost would be more. I ask the man behind the counter "How much for the garlic?" He looks at a paper behind the counter and says "$2.99" I said ok. I'll take two. He then immediately changes the price to $3.99. I agree. He then proceeds to ring the items up for $5.00 each. Then didn't mention it. This is not the first time it's happened to me at this location. The only reason why I caught it is because the last two times the same thing happened. Items are not priced, you ask how much they are. They tell you one price and ring up another. I realize I can contact weights and measures and what they're doing is not legal. That's just too much time and effort. They've lost my business. That simple. read more

I've been buying beef jerky from the corner market since the mid 70s. I went 45 minutes out of my way to purchase some today almost had a heart attack $65 a pound for beef jerky. It was ok but not like it used to be. read more

Decided to try the teriyaki beef jerky because I heard it's good. It actually was really good, but I cannot recommend it, due to it's price. I have never seen jerky so expensive in my life. They are now charging $59 per pound! WTF!? This stuff is not gold. You can get king crab or lobster cheaper per pound than this. I know inflation has caused stuff to increase, but this is ridiculous. I went I'm this morning early and I realized the deli wasn't open so I drove around for 45 minutes. I had heard how good it was. I returned when the deli was open and I ordered 3 tri tip sandwiches. I guess that overwhelmed the guy who was working because he yelled "F%$% ME! I asked if he was having a rough morning and he snapped back at me very rude. I just decided to go somewhere else where they ar prepared and want to make money. Interesting that a small corner market would treat customers that way. I will not be going back. The jerky is over-hyped but their deli sandwiches are amazing!! I always get a veggie sammie with pepper jack on rye and my partner gets the club. The staff is pretty friendly and everything is always well stocked. It's a normal stop for us on our way out of town. read more

The new owners and the people sadly that run the corner market in Oak View next to lake casitas which just so happens to have the best beef jerky in my opinion in California are crooks, rude, disrespectful, ect........ They don't deserve our community's business I've shopped there for over 40 years through 3 different owners and I'm disgusted with what I just witnessed and how I was treated!!!! I'm relying on all you good old boy's on this one!! Spread the word it's truly sad! I never do or say stuff like this!!! Well off to yelp l go............ I posted this on all of my platform's truly sad the new owners don't care about anything, anyone , or running a respectful, honest,business. If you have 40 year's of experience with a business and watch it change hands 3 different time's and go to crap each time 4 lack of a better analogy . I am new to Oak View, and been exploring. I am in looove with all the private mom n pop stores in the area and support them whenever I can. C took me to a tiny little market totally hidden away, and they have THE BEST BEEF JERKY ever, and they make them in house. I tried the Western and the Pepper and they are both delicious. I like the Western better because it's nice and moist. They also sell cuts of meat there, which I have not tried yet. The market carries other liquor store items as well. I will go back for more beef jerky and update this review. read more

Made a stop here on the way back to Long Beach for something to drink after a day up at Lake Casitas. Knowing how shitty their beef jerky is (harsh...I know...but it's the truth), I didn't take a glance at anything to eat...I mean, I just played 27 holes of disc golf and ate a ton of bbq'd goodies. I was there to quench my thirst. Found a big bottle of Lemon Perrier and a can of San Pellegrino's Limonata and was about to head to the register when I looked to the back of the store and saw they had a large beer selection. Figured I'd look and see what they have. The selection was really impressive, especially when it came to craft beer. Large selection of IPA bombers, some local brews from the Santa Barbara area and other nice micro brews. Found Sam Smith's Organic Cheery Ale for the wife (The Wine Country in Long Beach is always sold out of the stuff). Nice to know that there is a store in the boonies which sells classy craft beer, especially when heading up to the lake for the day. So, a star added to my original review due to their beer selection. A stop on the way and a stop on the way back could be a standard for when I'm in the area. read more

Very interesting market, they got new owner for the deli and he has been doing great job there. He cares for his customers opinion and tries to help them out every way possible!! They been rearranging the spot and they are adding a lot of new stuff! Plus the service been better than ever, new employees that once you ask for something they are on it right away with the best quality. Add on to that they been making sure their jerky is always fresh and hot every other day for you to enjoy and grab a bite. Oh my lord!!! Hands down they make the best jerky in the whole area. They have all kind of supplies you need, from drinks, food, snacks and camping supplies. They even have big section for fishing supplies and licenses! I def. recommend you stopping by and checking it out, and grab bite from the fresh tri-tip pieces that they be cooking out on the grill daily! read more

The Corner Store is a great little neighborhood market. They've got super meat, the marinated trip-tip is amazing. The bacon super thick and smoked perfectly. Great beef jerky made in house and a Belgium Ale selection that competes with some good pubs I know. I was actually a vegetarian before I moved close to this place, their meat market ruined my non eating meat streak. They also have great prepared sandwiches and breakfast burritos for people on the go. It's not the healthiest place in the area, but it's yummy plaque-building-cholesterol anyhow. If you're gonna eat meat, it might as well taste superb!! If you aren't a meat eater you might want to check out Farmer and the Cook up the road a bit in Meiners Oaks. But for the meat eaters out there The Corner Store Meat counter gets two thumbs up! read more

Have been to the Corner Market in the past for Jerkey but not after today. The Jerkey was going for $8.50 for a 1/4 pound which isn't cheap. Asked for a half pound of the peppered Jerkey 1/2 pound of Teriyaki. The teriyaki wasn't bad but the peppered was awful. No pepper and no taste for that matter. I went back to ask the butcher and his response was that pepper was added into the marinade. No offer to try another kind. So, I'm stuck with $20 of bland jerky. Not pleased and won't go back. read more

Worse beef jerky ever..."Western" jerky was like year-old road-kill. It's so, dry it crumbles in your hands. Totally flavorless, A used pizza box has more flavor & better texture. The Corner Store was too cheap to give me a tiny sample, but, insisted it was "good", so I bought plenty for my road trip home to Arizona. Took it to my local relatives who couldn't believe I actually paid money for it. They assured me that no starving dogs or coyotes would eat it, so, they told me to take it back & ask for a comparable exchange of the teriyaki flavored which I also purchased & was better tasting. My family said to ask for the guy who makes the jerky. I did as they said and was told by the so-called jerky-maker, who refused to make a comparable exchange, thought I was stupid & would belief his lame excuse that 'the State of California makes us make it that way (i.e., dry as a dirt and tasteless).' Don't waste your money on their "Western" jerky. Better yet, don't waste your time spending your money on a place that is "customer UNfriendly". read more

Visited this market on July 16, 2017 and had the worse experience ever. Don't shop here ever. This place is a rip off. This place is very over priced, but when your limited to the camp store at Lake Casitas, you may think this is your only option but it's not. I went over the weekend as I usually do while camping to buy beer. I purchased a 12 pack of lagunitas IPA, $18.99 This is a beer I'm very familiar with and know how it's supposed to taste. I returned to the lake and cracked open a beer only to be disappointed with some skunky beer. I returned to the store and requested an exchange only to be told that they would not exchange it. The person in charge told me that how is he supposed to know the beer is bad, so I recommend that he taste it. He mentioned that he doesn't drink alcohol and that he shouldn't get stuck with the beer. He also said that he didn't make the beer so it's not his fault if its bad. I told him as a customer, I shouldn't have to get stuck with bad beer and that the store should stand behind the items they sell. I then went on to explain to him that when his beer vendor delivers more beer, he could return the beer to the vendor and they would exchange it at no cost. That's a common procedure. He disagreed and said that he would get stuck with the beer. He then proceeded to call the owner of the store. At this point he switched from talking in English to a foreign language. After talking for a few minutes with who I believe was the owner, he hung up the phone and informed me that he would give me my money back, but that I was essentially Banned from the store and would not be allowed to purchase any more beer from their market. I was surprised to hear that I would be banned from buying alcohol from the store. I asked for the name of the owner and told the employee that I would like to speak to the owner regarding this issue. The employee refused to give me the owners name and stated, you probably would never find him here anyways. Wow is all I can say!! I told him that I was surprised that the owner and that the store would be willing to lose a customer who frequents their store while camping, over the cost of a 12 pack of beer that could easily be returned to the vendor without any charge. I gladly accepted my money back and drove over to Rite Aide which was about two miles down the road. To my surprise the same 12 pack was being sold at Rite Aide for $13.99. While paying for my beer at Rite Aid I spoke to the manager who was ringing me up and I asked him, if this beer was bad and I returned it would they accept the return. The manager stated absolutely. He said that when customers return items, like beer, they return them immediately to the supplier. Never will stop here again!! read more
