This small market had everything a person would need so I can walk from the house and pick up berries and a coffee and not have to get in my car to go to the larger market in town. Gotta love not having to DRIVE! I love the little fresh coffee and pastry and muffin bar just to the left when you walk in. A small coffee is only $2.29 with creamers and honey included and it's good! There's an amazing deli and I've got to try the hot food bar with tacos and burritos and bowls and the deli sandwiches which are all under $12. Prices are cheaper at VONS but you get quality here and it's super convenient and small and cozy. Employees are happy and helpful and the place is spotless and welcoming. Well done!! read more

Came to this local grocery store with the fam after a mediocre dining experience at Rory's Place that left us hungry and thirsty for some more wine. We LOADED up on snacks and a couple bottles of Pinot Noir to get our first night of vacation rockin. As we were checking out, I spotted a HUGE pumpkin with a sign that read "guess the weight and win the pumpkin." I guessed 130 lbs, but don't think I won because I never got a call smh. Only local businesses do this kind of quirky stuff, and I love it. So much soul. As dissapointed as we were from that dinner, it will be a great family memory for years. "Remember when we had that mouse food meal with terrible service, and went to the grocery store after and just sat in our hotel room, ate snacks, drank wine, and talked the night away until we were delirious?" It's nice to know you're in a core memory when you are actually in one. The people who work here are great. But what is going on with the meat being sold rancid? I just bought the third chicken I have gotten in six months that smells like a toxic dumpster days before the due date. I also got ground meat/beef that has obviously been repackaged putting fresh red colored meat over old brown disgusting meat then repacking grass fed beef from a private brand like this in Westridge packaging. It's dishonest and gross and dangerous. If I want to buy old brown meat I can do that in the original packaging, don't trick people. Be warned. read more

I like this location on the outskirts of Ojai with plenty of parking, and ability to pull out on to the main street with less traffic. The store crams in lots of items for such a small store. The wine section is vast, so a good choice to seeking wine. Service is efficient and has a small town locals feel. There is also a small deli section in the back. read more

This is NOT the midtown market. GO TO THE OTHER ONE. This one is small and has outdated dairy products and old dusty products. It's more of a convenience store. Music was SO loud. All staff seemed more concerned with stocking shelves or checking phones. And if you purchase bags, they don't even offer to bag your food. Or at least help. Mariane just stood there and watched. 1st and last time every stepping foot in west ridge market after today's experience. It was my first time there, patiently waited at the deli counter without any issues, when it was my turn I told that young kid with slick back hair, "we would like to order some sandwiches please?" This ahole kid slams the order form and pencil on the counter and says "here you go" with so much attitude it was like he was annoyed I even asked. So what I did is match his attitude and threw the pencil back on the counter and walked right out. Not my fault you gotta work on the 4th bro, you don't gotta be an ahole about me asking how to order a sandwich since it was my first time there. Small upscale store with a large selection of wine and craft beer, but limited choices otherwise. I stopped in while camping nearby and was looking for something to take back to the campsite that didn't require cooking (we're in the middle of a fire ban). The deli is above average and their London Broil sub sandwich is so good I returned to get another for another one the next day. read more

I have never had any employee treat me poorly at Westridge until today. A little man, in stature and small in professionalism and manners. Not a lick in generosity, this person (Jason?) needs some customer service training. He spoke down to the butcher and then he spoke down to me, the customer, when I asked if he could help me find some walnuts. So unnecessary. So rude. He treated me with a sneer and sideway looks at another employee when refunding me money owed. I have shopped at Westridge Market since a I was a child when it was called Bayless Market and in a different location. I will continue to shop there but I do NOT like this small person who treats people like they are beneath him. Pleased with this find in Ojai! I'm a grocery store nerd at heart and love checking out the local grocery situation for snacks and things while traveling. I actually love the other grocery store in Ojai and always stop in a few times while in town, but we happened upon this little market while wanting to pick up some beer and wine close to our hotel and it totally did the trick. I'd say this market is fancy-ish and not outrageously expensive, but not cheap either. They have a decent wine and beer selection, some nice looking produce, and really good snacks, cheese/charcuterie, and body stuff (think nice sunscreen and the like). Our hotel didn't have any coffee onsite, so I also snagged a couple drip coffees here from behind the deli counter. They were, like, $1 each and pretty much what you'd expect at that price point, but whatever. Cheap coffee is better than no coffee. read more

They got everything here. From deli to liquor to fresh meat,Westridge Market has them. It's a walking distance from the Capri Hotel. This local market has this huge section for wine and alcohol. That's the best part because we came here to pick up a good wine.The staff were definitely personable and helpful and browsing each isle was more like finding new products and items that you haven't discovered before. And yes,I found a few. Most of them were the hip,organic and healthier version of chocolates and snacks and locally-made chilled bottled drinks. Rice pudding was delicious. When I'm visiting my home town I love Shopping here. It's so quaint and friendly and they truly have great deli and meat products along with cheese and specialty mustards and sauces. They also have their typical grocery isle things, produce dairy etc. staff is always friendly and the store is very clean. I find lots of hidden treasures and I love that you can get fresh sliced liverwurst at the deli. Parking can be a little hairy and getting in and out is a hassle but when visiting from out of state it's always a treat. I def recommend coming and shopping here. I tend to come to Westridge market when 1) I want to walk to the grocery store or 2) I want something artisan. Well, now I have a new reason to come here - their deli counter has Sweet Street cake slices! You heard right. Sweet Street - my favorite cake manufacturer in the US - products for sale by the slice in the deli case. I took home a slice of "Big Chocolate Cake" and "Red Velvet Cake". The Big Chocolate Cake is the same product that Zin Bistro in Westlake Village serves. I tried to mimic their presentation at home by adding some fresh berries and heating up the cake slice. Heavenly! I had the red velvet for breakfast this morning. Very deicious cake with a high ratio of icing to cake (not really in a bad way, but almost overwhelming). In between the many layers of cake were layers of cream cheese icing and also chocolate sauce. The cake had chocolate chips and pastels on top. Super good when heated just enough that the insides got melty. Total cost for 2 cake slices to go - $9. Cost for single slice at Zin Bistro including wait-service, fruit, berries, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, ice cream - $10. I was VERY happy to have this available to me close to home and ready any time I want it instead of having to go out to a fancy restaurant. The man at the deli counter also said they can order the whole cake. He estimated the cost at $60. If I bought from Sweet Street's website it would be $90 plus shipping so I guess he gets a good wholesale discount. I'd definitely consider getting a whole cake from here if I have a big event and a lot of people to feed and I want them to eat the best!! Side note, my husband and I bought several hot-foods from their deli at the same time I bought the cake and while none of the foods quite matches the WOW of the cake, they were all good. We had the pulled pork, chicken cordon blu, tri tip, and mac and cheese (regular kind). I also got an Asian salad from their pre-made salad area. It was not very fancy and didn't come with dressing, but was also very inexpensive $3.50 for a good quantity, so I was happy. Staff, as always, was very friendly and helpful. I've seen these ready made pizzas in this store and thought here we have an easy dinner. What a mistake- got a 10" veggie INEDIBLE! It says bake at 375 for 10 mins. Yeah right The basics of pizza is the dough and the sauce. I rate it at 1 out of ten. $7 down the toilet. This was the first pizza I've ever put into the dustbin. I an make better, can't believe anyone buys these more than once. Once upon a time there was a good cast iron pizza recipe on YouTube. I shop at Westridge Market a couple of times a week and loved their deli salads until yesterday. I bought a Cobb Salad for $9.99 to take on a picnic with my boyfriend. When I opened it, the lettuce was so badly wilted it had almost disintegrated. The salad toppings were sitting in the container on a bed of limp greens. It wasn't edible. I got no lunch. I took the empty container back to the store the next morning to ask for a refund and the woman who claimed to be manager offered to exchange a head of lettuce instead (I guess their lettuce costs $9.99??) so I could make my own salad, I guess? She questioned why I hadn't brought the wilted food back with me and would not return my money. She acted very suspicious of me too, to add insult to injury. Trying to ask for a refund to compensate me for the bad food should have been a no-brainer but it ended up being a WASTE OF TIME. I was a long-time local customer and my family and I have spent much, much money there but we won't be back now. They don't stand by their food and the employees are unfriendly, rude and unprofessional. They also owe me $9.99!! read more

I was in this morning & I had a very rude inner-counter with a manger named Teresa absolutely the rudest cashier I ever met. I come to this location 3-4 times a week I will never step foot in this location if I see her working. She's very unprofessional & doesn't know how to talk to customers. I love this grocery store. I always go to this one and not the one further down the Main Street, I don't know why! Habit I guess. They have a great selection of so many things such as organic fruits and veg, ready to go sandwiches and snacks. Their wine selection is also very good and reasonable, I got a nice Malbec there for $11.99 which I now pick up a few of everytime I'm there. They have a cold pressed coffee station! I mean, whaaaat!?! There are 4 flavors? I think. Tried two of them so far, well worth a try. Clean and pure coffee! Next to that is their sandwich counter, so far I've only had their breakfast sandwiches, which are awesome!! Freshly made right there on the griddle. This location is meh. Mainly because they lack the freshness of their prepackaged products, which is probably because they get their inventory from the larger midtown Westridge. Often times, I end up purchasing items that are already expired, which really stinks! One thing I do love here is that they BBQ tri-tip on the weekends and if you come around noon, you can get delicious, fresh tri-tip to enjoy. This store seems more pricey than midtown but it's closer to my house and so I suck it up and go here only when I really, really need something. Otherwise, I prefer the midtown location for their freshness, selection, and stellar customer service. read more

Ojai resident for over 30 years. Been going to Westridge as long as they have been open, the original location. I beleive in giving props when props are due.. They have delicious deserts and a good selection of meat. The place is clean looking and no foul smells from the deli. Most the staff I have dealt with has been very helpful and very kind. This review has been awhile in the works. On three separate occasions I have been to the deli and treated extremely rude by a Hispanic woman, appears to be late 30s-early 40s. I feel sorry fro her as she appears to be so miserable angry. Her customer service skills are poor and I dont know how to put it other than she is, has and continues to be rude. Not just to me but her coworkers as well. I am amazed she still works there. When all was said and done, I came home, ate and debated even taking the time to write this. I am not responsible for her misery... It was the black hair in my burger that was the final straw. Her attitude disgusted me and the hair burger disgusted me. Best half roasted bbq chicken Iv ever had! My husband and I stopped at the south end location. We were hiking in the area and wanted some quick food before heading home with our dogs. I typically dont like to eat in my car with a bone in chicken because it can get messy BUT THIS CHICKEN was worth every bbq-ed finger print left behind. Im actually craving the chicken now. I love Westridge! Weve been going to this location forever! Its a tiny local market with organic and local options. They have TWO locations but for some reason I always go to the far end one. When I travel to little tiny towns, I love to shop at independent markets. You an always find the best local treasures at these kinds of stores. My fiance and I came to Ojai for our anniversary and wanted to have a little hotel picnic. I was laid up due to a broken foot so we wanted to have a little feast. We came into the market and left with a ton of goodies. Local satsumas (my fav!), pixi tangerines, tangelos, crackers, 2 kinds of artisan cheese, salami, taffy, 2 bottles of prosecco and a re-usable shopping bag to carry it all back with. I loved their produce selection, most of it being locally grown. Their beer selection was amazing- I saw some of my favorite breweries like Stone, Green Flash, and Old Speckled Hen. The staff was friendly and offered a helping hand being that I was on crutches. Great little market with tons of great little finds! read more

I live in Ventura and regularly drive to Ojai just to shop at Westridge Market (the little one, I haven't tried the new location). Since it's about a 40 minute drive for me, I'll grab something from the deli (their burgers are the best, and cheap) and drive up Maricopa Highway. Just make a day of it. This place is barely hanging in there. I don't recommend buying anything that isn't packaged or canned as I have had to return multiple items that were sold as "fresh" that were way too old and should have been thrown away. Their deli cooked meat is always inedible as they profoundly over-cook all their chicken and beef! I only buy things like soft drinks, canned soup etc as I don't trust their ability to prepare most of the cooked foods they make. You are better off going to Vons!! This review is for the smaller of the Westridge markets here in Ojai. The larger Westridge market is better but suffers several of the problems I've mentioned about the smaller Westridge market. read more

Such a unique grocery store with an epic supply of Cadbury goodies that are so hard to find anywhere else. I was in heaven!

It used to be a pleasure to shop here. Not so much anymore. Aisles are dark, super narrow and crowded with protruding displays and stock boxes and personnel. Impossible for 2 customers to pass by one another. It must be difficult for handicapped shoppers to maneuver in the store. Also dislike the tall shelves which make it dark and claustrophobic. Many deli items are great. They have many local products and food items one can not find elsewhere. The employees are friendly and super helpful. Nice parking lot. I will continue to shop here because I prefer to support a local family run market. Just wish the aisles could be wider and less cluttered. read more
