    Açaí bowl
    David H.

Keeping it a buck, as a açaí bowl connoisseur... I loved this place. Considering it's within a mercantile, I honestly didn't have any expectations but wow, that bowl hit! Also, the staff (it was just a lady at the front when I went) was super kind, as most people in SD are. I wish I tried some of their other items!

    The Corner Club

This place exceeded expectations! Everything we tried was really filling and tasted amazing. Cashier was very nice and talkative, and the overall aesthetic and ambiance of the shop is amazing if you're looking for a classic San Diego vibe. Love it would recommend! (a little pricey, but worth it)

Came here specifically for the turkey, brie, cranberry sandwich and I was pleasantly surprised! The sandwich was delicious, fresh ciabatta bread, arugula, creamy melted brie with turkey. Sooo delicious. Satisfied my craving! But also I was greeted an helped by a nice women at the front. This store is so cute and worth exploring. It's unique and different and there's a lot of delicious fresh baked goods. I'd suggest this place specifically for the sandwich. Great job! :)

I have been driving by this place for probably 20 years and I've never stopped into it and I did last week and I got a amazing bagel and I met Lisa the owner and I can't say enough good things about the place. Come check it out especially having everything bagel toasted with cucumber and tomato. It's perfectly made perfect the way they cut up their vegetables like you get you get a perfect bite every bite.

Thursday, 1/29/2026: I excitedly met my sister here who was visiting from Virginia. Parking is scarce but thankfully, I have a handicapped placard and was able to secure a parking space in front of the eatery. It is really so quaint and as you enter it was redolent of fresh baked bread, which was at once very comforting & savory. Their menu had a nice variety of options. My sister is a personal trainer so she chose the Açaí Bowl and since I'm not, I opted for the Chicken Salad Sandwich. The young lady working the counter was very sweet & checked on us often. It was a beautiful, sunny day & we sat outdoors at an umbrella covered table. There is only outdoor dining. My sister finished her bowl, which she enjoyed & I could only finish half of my delectable sandwich so I took it to go. Afterward, we shopped their merchandise next door. They had some nice, unique items for sale. It was a great visit and a cute eatery I would definitely visit again.

This place is adorable and the owner is a class act, very welcoming! Highly recommended!

We stopped here before kayaking in the ocean. The owner was so personable. She answered all of our questions and got our outside table ready for us right away! They have a nice selection of grab and go foods or sit down and order plates. She is a wine connoisseur and if it wasn't so early in the morning, I would've had a glass of wine! Our avocado toast and acai bowl were perfect before our morning excursion in the ocean! Highly recommend!

Great tasting! However for a $17 sandwich would have expected a little more meat and fillings....

    Spicy salami

Came for a quick lunch on Christmas eve. They have a good selection of sandwiches! I believe it was the owner who we ordered with and stopped by to chat with us during the stay. Very friendly and eccentric. I will say, 'you know you're in La Jolla when...' two deli sandwiches and a drink costs you about $45, haha. But they were definitely tasty. We got the spicy salami on focaccia bread and the Corner club on ciabatta. The spicy salami (warm sandwich) was more petite but is also super decadent so the portion makes sense. The corner club had generous portions and was my favorite between the two. They were both very gourmet, fresh, and with good quality ingredients. Not your basic sammy at all.

I came here for dinner with my mom and brother after some hiking and sight seeing. The place was spacious and they sold lots of mercantile-- cereal, cans of food, stuff like that. There's a small section in the front where they have sandwich, soups, cookies, chips, drinks, and a few other options. The lady in the front, in the vibrant pink shirt spoke in a tone that kind of reminded me of my aunt- it sometimes sounded dry and sarcastic. But it felt like she was putting in the effort to tone it down. :D She was friendly in her own way and thoughtful-- she mentioned they had indoor seating! Which is great since I really didn't want to eat outside in the wind/cold. We ordered 1 Hot Salami Sandwich, 1 Philly Cheesesteak, 2 chocolate chip cookies, and 1 bag of salt & vinegar chips. We confirmed we all wanted water and then we paid upfront. And she mentioned they have indoor seating, but in the space next door to them. We were confused so she showed us the way there, and it was pretty nice. The 2 tables (each seats 4) had mandala patterns on the cloth and there were placemats as well. We were in the shop next door, which used to be a mailbox post office-- but now sells clothes, soap/candles, rings, and beer (etc). The man that was in that shop was kind. She brought out the water for us and a different man brought out the food. She came back with an extra plate since my mom and I were sharing. In the hot salami sandwich, it has a thick flat layer of spicy salami (not as spicy as you'd think), thinly sliced red onions, mustard, arugula, cheese, and sliced up pepperoncini. The bread was golden, herby, and cooked to perfection. The fact that it was a ciabatta but it wasn't rock solid was really nice. It smelt amazing! -- If I had to point out a few things, I'd say that I wish that rather than laying the salami all flat (meat brick). They would lightly fold them so there's little air pockets. I'm not sure what kind of hot salami they used, but I love spicy calabrese and I think it would taste amazing along with what they are already using. Overall the sandwich was solid, I'd give it a 4.5/5! It tasted so good with the salt and vinegar chips. Chips and sandwiches are a must. My brother said the Philly cheesesteak was more on the herby side, but overall yummy. His cookies were good too. While we were finishing up, the owner I believe (woman in pink shirt), came in to see how everything was and she gave us some beignets on the house. Which was really kind of her, although I wouldn't personally classify them as beignets. They were circular rather than square shaped. The powdered sugar was non existant, like it's been made in the morning or the day before. When biting into it, it's not pillowy soft-- it had a bit of a bite like a donut hole. The fillings were dark chocolate, Nutella (hazelnut), and vanilla. The chocolate ones were nicely filled and the vanilla one was not filled enough. Overall, I'd recommend coming here for quick sandwiches and chips (maybe even a soda!). You can either choose to sit outside, inside, or take it to the beach to enjoy. The bathrooms are clean and well decorated. She mentioned the breads come in from Canada! They smell always incredible and it was what convinced me into trying the place. Next time, I'd probably try "The Club" sandwich and see if they have any root beers.

Really nice corner mercantile here in la jolla. Stopped by here for a quick bite on the way to LA jolla shores. Really cool spot with anything you may need on your way or stay at the beach. Service was good and quick. Just what we needed.

Completely lovely experience at this quaint little spot today! Lisa was an absolute delight of humor, conversation and charm.... I could've stayed all day There are all kinds of grocery items and soft drinks and delicious sandwiches and soups and wines and sweets here as well as a boutique with clothes and jewelry! The woman in the boutique was super friendly also!! If you're in La Jolla, do yourself a favor and check this place out for sure!!! It was such a fun and tasty diversion from my every day. Thank you, Lisa, for being you... putting the smiles on faces that I know you must do is a gift and a blessing!

This shop on Avenida De La Playa, which is the Main Street closed off from cars, so people can walk freely, but parking is a challenge. The cheese shop can't be missed, with the green ivy covered store front. It's standing round only, no seating inside but limited outside seating. You order from the counter and they bring your order to you if you decide to sit outside. I selected the popular sandwich: Turkey, Jack Cheese and Avocado on sourdough bread with every veggie: lettuce, tomato, red onion was all it had. Just baked from the oven were the famous oatmeal cookies in caramel and chocolate, looked so yummy I didn't order any but the guy behind the counter complementary gifted a pair to me, so nice, friendly and cool!! Inside the shop didn't appear clean, I would describe the ambiance as divey. Sat outside and shortly my order was presented nicely wrapped sandwich and warm cookies. Took pics and took a bite and my consensus is that I was not a fan of this sandwich because I really prefer smoked turkey and not plain turkey. The sandwich looked subpar, the layering of ingredients weren't assembled as aesthetically layered as it can be and tasted just ok. My pup usually doesn't like smoked turkey or unfresh meats but she liked this plain roast turkey, which means it's more likely fresh and pass her approval. She also ate the contents of the sandwich sans the bread and onions of course. The oatmeal cookies were a real treat and lived up to the hype, kind of gooey, yummy and good for you...hence oats is fiber! As a cheese aficionado, this shop is not really a cheese shop with no abundant cheese selections. The shop should just be named sandwich shop, since sandwiches and candies seem to be their cash cows. If you're looking for a cheese shop, this isn't the place, but it might the place for a sandwich. Recommend

I think I was sitting in the store for at least 30 minutes while a family member waited in our car and watched several people park, get their orders and leave. Two people who ordered after us received their food before we did. I finally stood up and only then did an associate crabbily pack up our order and give it to us. When we first arrived, no one even showed up at the counter for at least five minutes. There was another customer waiting behind us as well. My sandwich (Happy Hippie) was not very good...insubstantial and put together in a blah manner. A family member who had the "not so fried chicken sandwich" said it was too salty. I paid $62 for this order (with a tip, which I had added before the long wait...) It obviously wasn't a good value, This is a beautiful and clean store but a general lack of enthusiasm from the associates, inconsistent customer service, high prices, and mediocre quality food will dissuade me from making any future visits to this location.

I was blown away at how delicious the French Toast was. The name is the "CARAMELIZED TAHITIAN VANILLA BEAN FRENCH TOAST with Fresh Blueberries or Bananas and Chantilly Cream, or a Grilled Pineapple". Jade gave away the secret ingredient to me and I was impressed. An applied Maillard reaction with brown sugar brought the French Toast a new level of yumminess. The Chantilly Cream took it over the top, not to sweet and very creamy. Yum!!! Also tried the "RASPBERRY TRUFFLE MOCHA St. George Vanilla Bean Vodka.
