The food here was pretty tasty for a very good price! The biscuit was very soft and buttery, and the hash browns were perfectly crispy. The service was decent and the inside is decorated very nicely. I wouldn't say this is my favorite breakfast in the area but it's good for a quick meal at a low price. read more

This place is quaint, think long narrow diner with a clean crisp feel. The staff was warm and welcoming. I had the meatloaf with an ice tea and both were exactly what i expected. First time in for dinner specials. We walked in at 5pm and it was totally empty; not another customer to be found! Nice young man (Drew) was running the counter with one guy at the grill and another fellow in the back. That's it. We just got water to drink and both settled in the taco trio this "Mexican week." Meal comes with choice of soup or salad; Queen Bee chose latter and I chose the soup du jour, which was a roasted red pepper soup. Salad was basically a salad, albeit one with good fresh produce and a nice presentation. Soup, on the other hand, was fantastic! It's basically tomato soup with a lot of roasted red peppers and onions in it. Very flavorful and hot...I was told it was just made; it certainly tasted like it, but in a very good way! I wish I could say the same for our entrees. First, the menu calls this thing "taco carnitas." Explanation says it's three tacos, with one being chicken, another being steak, and the third, oddly enough, "carnitas" or pork for all the gringos in the room. I list them by increasing level of success...Sure enough, the pork taco was the best of the three, with the steak coming in a close second. Each of the tacos had a load of diced onion and barely a dusting of cilantro. The chicken taco, well: it tasted like chicken...plain old grilled chopped chicken breast. No Mexican seasoning, no salt, no pepper, no oomph, no nothing. The same train to flavortown carried the sides of black beans and rice next to this poor pocket of poultry. It barely got outta the station; with nary a head of steam. Parenthetically, the picture on their Facebook page shows big attractive portions of rice and black beans. Our dinners received two measly monkey dishes. Just as well since both were tepid and bland! The plate came with a wedge of lemon. I think lime is the more appropriate accompaniment! Drew told us he wasn't too familiar with the menu either. He did note to the grill man that there should be 3 tacos on each plate, ie one of each type. Grill Guy initially put two pork tacos on each plate but Drew to the rescue. That initiated a dialogue between them about the confusing name....Drew mentioned this confusing name when we ordered too. So this visit gets a demotion to three stars. I wish I could make it two and a half. We certainly would return again to explore more of the menu and their otherwise great specials.. The other times we've been there: home run. This time barely made it past first base wheezing and gasping! Only thing that may make it three stars rather than two is Drew's friendly service and demeanor. At least he's trying and does mean well. The other highlight of the whole meal was the bowl of soup. This, to me, is kinda sad in the context of a full meal. I hope this is the only time we are disappointed by this place. Methinks dinner here no great choice for us: at least no time in the near future. read more

What a great find I kind of found on accident ! It's a 24 hour diner in just a small unassuming plaza but wow do they have great food ! The owners are German...I got the Rouladen and it was fabulous ! I got it with red cabbage (specials only)...It was sweet and very tart ! The German potato salad was some of the best I ever had ! The salad while not fancy ,was chopped up very evenly which I liked and everything was very fresh...The House dressing was like a mix of creamy and thin dressing, and it was very very good ! I highly recommend that...Jay, my server, was very good and helpful...He told me dinner specials are only served until about 9:30 pm, and that they only run the German specials one week out of the month...The rest of the month the specials are chef's choice...I highly recommend this place! It's now one of my favorites in the Clearwater area. read more

Under new management. There is a sign on the door stating their new hours, however, their Google/Maps are incorrect. They state they're open until 10pm - sign on the door states 5am to 9pm. Sign also states there will be a nearly 4% charge on credit/debit card usage: scammers. Menu was completely different and everything lacked flavor. Server was polite, but didn't know anything about the new menu, the location, the new management, the way the business is run, etc. Really disappointing that they hired all new staff; we were regulars who loved our regular servers. I wouldn't go back. They've lost their appeal and I don't support any business who urges you to use cash so they don't have to pay more in taxes. read more

Last night was "German night" at the diner. As a special, they offered authentic German food. Several of us met up there. The restaurant is hidden in an old strip mall. Inside it was very warm & we were told the air conditioner was broken. Despite that, we stayed & are glad we did. I ordered Jaeger Schnitzel. This is a breaded chicken breast covered in a mushroom gravy. It came with spaetzel & German potato salad. The food came out fast & was delicious. The chicken was pounded & light and tender. The gravy was rich & satisfying. The spaetzel was on point. And the potato salad was warm & full of flavor. What a fun experience. read more

DISABLED VETERANS NOT WELCOME I went to The Corner Skillet Diner today with my service dog and a friend -- we are both disabled veterans. There's a sign on the door that clearly says "Service Animals Welcome - No Pets Allowed," but as soon as we entered, the waitress told us that dogs were not allowed. I calmly explained that my dog is a service animal and pointed to their own sign. She then asked me for "papers." I explained that while I do have documentation, under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) I am not required to show papers, and that I could instead answer the two questions permitted by law. She ignored this, refusing to seat us. I asked to speak with the owner and the waitress called her, but I left my phone number because I no longer felt comfortable staying in such a discriminatory environment. I asked that the owner call me to discuss ADA rules. The owner, whose name I was told is Sarah, never returned my call. My friend and I both felt unwelcome and somewhat threatened by the situation. This was a clear violation of federal ADA law and Florida Statute §413.08, which guarantee the right of access to individuals with disabilities and their service animals. I will be filing complaints with the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division and the Florida Commission on Human Relations. Very disappointing -- the sign said "Service Animals Welcome," but the staff's behavior said the opposite. read more

No complaints! We stopped in on the way home one night. Place was empty at 8:30pm. He got a tuna melt, I had breakfast. Good coffee, everything yummy. Interesting place in a strip mall. First time we've been here. My friends got breakfast with sausage they said was absolutely wonderful. I got the open face roast beef sandwich with garlic, green beans, and they were fresh unbelievably good. The two young ladies that were working work together to make sure you have everything you need. Very friendly. Very nice Staff very clean place. Had breakfast with a good friend this morning at the Corner Skillet. First impression: this place is clean! The flattop is behind the counter, the hoods are shining, tables and chairs look great. Floor is spotless- and this is a place that's open 24 hours! I love the thing that was impressive was the fact that the catchup bottles, salt, and pepper shakers,sugar and assorted jellies for the toast were all on full the tables. The service was great. Our server Dia was Extremely friendly and more than competent doing her job. We never had to ask for anything; she just magically appeared when it was time for more coffee, or a bottle of ketchup, or some hot sauce. The food was the best breakfast. I've had anywhere in Pinellas county.. The Corner Omelet Was excellent. The home fries with the peppers and onions were so tasty that I didn't need to add any salt, pepper or ketchup. Four different jellies were available for my toast. I haven't even seen orange marmalade in years but I had some today and it was great.. My friend had the country fried steak and eggs with grits and a biscuit with sausage gravy . He said the grits weren't runny like all the other places he's been and they were excellent. I know he enjoyed the chicken fried steak and eggs because his plate was clean and record time.! I can't imagine anybody having a real complaint about this establishment. I know I don't! Just a note to those who order takeout from Uber eats : you have to understand that the pricing is going to be higher on your delivery, because Uber eats gets a very large percentage for being the order, taker and delivery people. Restaurants have to raise their prices so that we can enjoy staying home and getting the food delivered to us.. The bottom line is you get good service and good food from the Corner Skillet. New Management, Not as Good I went for dinner and discovered a sign on the door declaring new management. Inside looked much the same. The menu, however, was very different. I got a pleasant side salad and then the open-face turkey sandwich. The menu said it would have brown gravy, but this was white. The potatoes were dense and bland. The turkey was a real disappointment. It was very thinly sliced deli turkey, not slices off a turkey breast. The accompanying green beans were good. My server was pleasant, although new and not familiar with much about the restaurant. Corner Skillet used to be a place you could count on for a good full meal. Maybe it's best for a burger and fries. read more

One couple seated at the counter are regulars who through their conversations return daily! And why not?! Such a disappointment! 2nd time visiting and what a change staff is friendly service was good but ! That's where it ended special was corned beef an cabbage and meatloaf sandwich beautiful presentation I'll say that however a raw cabbage leaf with some lunch meat chopped on it under cooked carrots and under cooked potatoes are not really my idea of this dish. The meatloaf looked like it had been dead a while dry tasteless and a huge disappointment! We thought we found a gem! Nope stick to the patty melt or burger they seem to do those ok! read more
