We come here every week (about) with multigenerations. It is a wonderful restaurant. Family-owned and the staff makes you feel welcome. We find the food very good. We like the burgers and pancakes a lot. If you are an obsessive organic foodie then this may not be the place for you. I was pleasantly surprised at the Cos Cobber recently. I had been driving by this place for weeks without feeling any pull to go in. I knew it had new owners and had been redone but in my mind it was the same old diner of yesterday. When I was invited to meet there for a business breakfast, I was startled to find a true transformation. It is now an elegant bistro with a great breakfast menu. The staff was welcoming and the food and coffee were wonderful, especially my spinach and swiss omelet. I can hardly wait to try lunch and dinner! I've been to The Cos Cobber many times and I've never really been wowed by the food, but it was always decent and a good place for kids and an easy neighborhood stop. That all changed today when I took my son there for lunch. As I was cutting up his order of chicken fingers for them to cool down I noticed that they were raw! The inside was translucent, gelatinous raw chicken!! I understand that mistakes happen, but the reaction and response of the restaurant staff was not nearly what I would expect considering they served raw chicken to a child. I'm all for supporting local business but not at the expense of my child's health. Never going back. read more

As a regular Cobber customer I was surprised to read negative feedback. While I know you can't please everyone all the time, this is one place that I rely on for consistency and a cheerful environment. I've tried many items on the menu - from the salads, burgers, nachos to the entrees-everything has been delicious. And I can't say enough about the staff- they are always friendly and hospitable. Scrumptious burgers here and an awesome bar keeper. Place is always busy but almost never have to wait for a table. They frequently have a soup of the day that is always reliably good. Very good chicken France's which I would highly recommend. Waitstaff even delivers takeout to your car. read more

Had a fantastic experience here the other night. Atmosphere was chill, ambiance was amazing and the burger was off the charts delicious!! I'd recommend the Cos Cobbler anytime! This is my go-to lunch spot with friends or hubby since it's across from my office, and the food is great! The inside is fairly small, and like an upscale diner experience, with slightly shabby service. The food is always fresh and portions are abundant. Their salads topped with chicken have all been great, except for the sodium levels in the Cajun and blackened chicken specials; it's through the roof. I drank three glasses of water! This place is always packed and sometimes there is a wait for tables. Prices are very high, but the food quality, portion size, and ambiance meet expectations. The servers and hostess can be more attentive and professional though. They do not seem to be properly trained for food service. read more

Ravioli special - 6 cheese ravioli with 3 shrimp and 3 scallops in a basil cream sauce. Ravioli had no flavor whatsoever shrimp and scallops way over cooked. I guess pesto cream sauce which should have been lighter is meant to hide the tasteless entree. Burger with fries was cooked as ordered. The upside to this experience (believe me their was one!) was that management could not have been nicer noticing that I was not enjoying the entree, an offering alternatives. While I question the quality of the products being used and preparation of food, I can see why locals enjoy this rennovated location as an upscale diner. Let's up the kitchen effort and the Cos Cobber might have a future beyond a glorified diner. read more

This is one of my go-to's for casual weekend brunch in CT. I have to agree that it's probably hit or miss with some of the options, but they can make a great mimosa. I go for the eggs florentine but the french toast looks pretty tempting. The club sandwiches are good, big portions with a heaping of yummy, not over salted, fries. I haven't tried more serious dishes where I could see how the quality of ingredients/skill in preparation would make a significant difference, keep it simple, is probably the key to ordering here and think they make a decent poached egg. read more

Menu is all over the place. Have been there twice and disappointed both times. Fish and chips comes on a huge plate with a ridiculous amount of fries, 2 pieces of greasy frozen fish and paid 18 bucks for this $8.99 Dutchess style meal. Second time was broiled fish, frozen veg and overcooked boxed rice pilaf. Kinda like going to a friends house for dinner who doesn't really know how to cook. Had dinner at Cos Cobber last night. While I enjoyed the guitar player, the food was not very good. I had sword fish. It was over-cooked and dry. The piece was about as thick as a pancake. My son had filet of sole. It too was over-cooked, and smothered in a butter sauce. The bil was $85 with a beer and a glass of wine, no dessert. Not a good price value for medicore food. read more

This is my go to 3 times a week restaurant. The Cos Cobber is like Cheers. Great local place, nicest owners and staff and just like home as you always see regulars you know. The chicken wings are the best, as are sliders, ribs, salads and specials. Caren and the Vizzo family are very accommodating and you feel like you are home. Service is excellent, say hi to Juan, Andrea, Erica and Kelven. Always casual. Warm environment. Fair prices and plenty of parking. Go by yourself or with a group. They always please! we used to hit the spot up regularly. the food was good, the place looked great after the reno, but like others hav reviewed, the management ruined everything. the chef shouting and clearly unsanitary kitchen was a big surprise, but after the service started following those footsteps, we just cant go there anymore. sucks bc when it opened, it was a great addition to an otherwise quiet area restaurant wise. started with a bang and ended up being a flop. ehh food anyway. i can name 5 spots within 2 miles id rather go now, where the service is good and respectful as if they want my business, where the place is clean, and where the food is great. until cos cobber rethinks their strategy and seriously focuses on restaurant management with great service the area deserves, the food doesnt matter. looking fwd to it bc it needs to be done. waaay overdue. read more

Saw this place while looking for another place for breakfast. The parking lot was full so we thought we would give it a try. The decor is updated and clean. We were seated right away at a high top in the bar. The bartender had his hands full so the service was a little slow but when another server saw that we were waiting he came right over to take our order. We both ordered eggs. They were hot and prepared well. My English muffin was grilled well which i didn't mind but if you don't care for that you should ask to have it toasted instead. We will definitely try them again when we travel this way again. read more

Breakfast with an attitude. No "hello" or "good morning", no smile, nothing except an attitude like we are doing them a favor. The waiter was as rude as it gets. He seemed rushed and annoyed when we were taking too long to order even though the place was empty. The food was average. Even after we paid the bill, no "thank you", no have a nice day", no smile. Went for dinner (2 adults), fairly early in the evening. Was seated right away, but noticed table top was sticky. Utensils not wrapped in napkins, no placemat either - no paper, nothing. Service slow; food, when it arrived was bland, lukewarm and tasteless. Fish had bones, too many for my comfort level. Was not offered coffee or dessert, bill was slow to arrive. Expected place to be noisy and families/kids and that is what we got. This restaurant needs to find an identity - not all diners want the TV - mixes bar with dinner, clearly they need better direction on food prep, taste, and cleanliness of tabletops. Had high hopes. Will probably not go back as cost was exorbitant for meals we got and level of service. Used to go when it was Cassies and Landmark. The name Cos Cobber imlied a level of old-time service and style that they did not achieve. Keep trying! read more

Went to the cos cobbler yesterday for a late lunch with coworkers. It was my first time at the diner. The parking is a bit tight in the lot. Staff was courteous and friendly. We were a party of four. Each of us ordered different lunches. We all thought the food was good. Portions are large. Prices are reasonable, will definitely return. read more
