Today, when I stopped by for a new satin pillow case ($3.99) (heh, just got my 'hur did'), I also found myself drawn to a pair of neon pink lurex leggings. You know, Mardi Gras is coming. In the end, I did not buy them because they didn't have my size. They are a tiny bit skittish about pictures inside so don't look for a lot of those but I will be back to this place again and again. And you should swing by, too, because I'm a fan. Oh, I'm docking a star because of the weird and difficult parking lot.

I came in looking for good quality glue-in hair to match my highlights (which had gone from a ghastly fuchsia to a really cute 1B 33). I also wanted loose curls or loose waves, since I was going on vacation. After roaming around the store for a few minutes, I finally found someone who worked there and asked her to send someone over to assist me. She sends over this Asian woman who spoke hardly any English. Great... After much gesturing, I was able to communicate what I was looking for. She disappeared behind a set of boxes behind the counter and I thought she was looking for the hair I asked for. She was gone an unusually long time, so I walked over to see what she found for me. Turns out, homegirl was on the phone having a personal conversation. I looked at her like "Really?" and she had the nerve to smile and give me the "Hold on, I'll only be a minute" hand. No ma'am. After several more minutes of waiting for her to get off the damn phone, I finally asked the girl at the register to help me. She walked behind the counter and the Asian woman told her she helping me. I said to her, "No, you're on the phone" and told the Ethiopian lady what I needed. She was not much better. I told her the color and style I wanted, showed her my hair, and she proceeded to pull out everything I did not want. I asked for 1B 33 hair, she showed me a pack of the ugliest "33" hair I've ever seen. No 1B in it at all. And it was straight. I specifically said (several times) that I did not want straight hair. She proceeds to pull out other styles that clearly do not match my color. Finally she told me, "Well you should just get 30 or 430, because that's all we have". Wait...let me get this straight. Since your supply is inadequate and insufficient, I should just go out with my hair not matching and looking a hot mess because 'that's all you have'? Ok... The experience I had here was unacceptable. And it is not the first time the customer service has been lacking, but this has definitely been the worst. If you don't have what I need, then say so. If you need to take a call, then say so. Sistas spend way too much damn money in here to be bothered with this kind of foolishness. The customer service was the main reason I'd travel unfathomable distances to spend my money here. Those days have come to an end. They can kiss my money goodbye.

I didn't love anything and was about to leave. I got sucked into a display up front by the door and questioned if I wanted anything. I was looking at something. I heard an employee say hi to someone. Then I was ran into hard by a metal hand truck handle right into my back. I said ouch what the heck?! Turned around and said you hurt me! You ran right into me! This old guy said he didn't see me. I'm not small. I said to him I was standing here the whole time. He said again. I didn't see you. How?! No employee even acknowledged or even asked if I was ok. I even checked on exit you can see clearly into the store. Nothing is obstructing like tint on the window etc. I wasn't standing in the way of people entering. I was standing in front of a table display. In my mind why have deliveries in the main customer doors if a delivery person is going to not look when entering. At least the employees could've asked if I was ok. After waiting to see if anyone was going to address the guy who ran into me after they just said hi to him I just left. Today, I bought a handful of products (5+) and as soon as I got to the door took out the items that were in the bag to count. Once again, I was missing an item and immediately went back to the register. She honestly seemed surprised I came back so quick, but like I said, this has now happened to me several times (items I've bought going "missing" from my bag at the cash register, AFTER I've paid for them) so I count as soon as I'm given the bag. This has now happened at several local Ulta's I've visited (looking at you Leesburg Pike location), but ONLY when I've bought multiple of something or a handful of items. I was greeted by the lovely Keyana, who asked me if I was looking for anything in particular--told her what I needed and she totally nailed the best colors and products! She was very attentive, knowledgeable and helped me tremendously. She even assembled a few samples for me so I could see how my skin would react. I was impressed with their own line, M-61, and I would shop here again based on my experience with her and would ask for her in the future.

One breezy fall day, I finally decided to come by. After the owner let me in, I was instantly taken aback by the super glam, super pink interior with the neon lighting front and center. The vibe here is modern, bright and cheery, and the owner's personality is just as welcoming (plus, her daughter owns the salon upstairs)! Inside, you'll find hair care items for naturalistas, extension-wearers, and silk press mamis in each corner, as items are displayed on white shelves throughout the space. I didn't notice any price labels on the items I purchased, but the owner was able to tell me how much each item I wanted to buy was. Please note that this store isn't as stocked as your typical BSS (I.e-items from wall to wall, braiding hair etc.) but it's still a nice place to check out, as they are still several items for your enjoyment. Plus, as a Black owned beauty supply, I am so proud to spend my coins at a place in support of my people! I shop at the local BSS a lot, so to be able to stimulate the economy and help a sista out means a lot to me. :)
