A big heartfelt THANK YOU to David and Jesse at the Couch Potato from our family! It's a big deal to our family to spend on a large piece of furniture, especially on our limited budget. A lot of thought went into what and where to buy. We are so thankful we chose this place! First off, David and Jesse are knowledgeable and professional, and it's obvious they take pride in what they do and have great concern and care for their customers. It's not just a job for them! Jesse delivered the couch himself 3 days after we bought it. He was efficient and careful, and did it all with smiles and professionalism. Through no fault of the store, however, the couch we bought had a manufacturer defect and so did the replacement that was first sent. It took us about a week and a half to finally get the couch we paid for. With the impact on us financially due to the amount we invested in it, of course we were more than concerned and worried. But, through the whole situation, David and Jesse were prompt to get answers for us and were on the phone frequently with the manufacturer on our behalf. David called us several times himself to update and reassure us. He had great concern for us, and wanted to make sure we were happy and satisfied with our purchase. You just don't get this kind of customer service from a big box store, and especially not from the likes of Amazon. I always wondered why this small shop on the corner of Seaward and Main has been there for what seems like forever. Now I know why! The Couch Potato is first class in 2023! My wife and I have been looking to get a couch and/or futon since the end of 2019 .... then COVID happened and put everything on hold. We came back in 2021 to look at option, then came back again in 2022. FINALLY in April 2023 we came back and got our green full size, and we LOVE IT! Every single time in the past 4 years that it took us to make up our mind, Jesse was patient, helpful and never pressured but always was assertive with his suggestions, help and was friendly. He was even funny; he kept saying stuff like, "This is the queen and this is the full" ... and I was all, "Hey, my wife IS a queen, but why are you calling me a FOOL?!?!" And he ran with the joke every time. Jesse is good natured, helpful and he delivered the futon and frame HIMSELF the same day I bought it. He drove it himself AFTER the store closed and drove it all by himself from Ventura (where the store is) to Oxnard (where my wife and I live). As my wife and I paid and left, there was another lady who came I'm asking if they could deliver their couch today, and Jesse did not hesitate. What a great place! I don't recommend this place at all. They came to put a bunk together wrong screw where placed. Then the owner came to "make it right" he made the whole bigger with the wrong screw. Fast forward 6 months and am still waiting on him to correct the problem. I paid cash for the bed and two bing bags. The bed is falling apart due to wrong screws quality of the bunk is trash they use come press card board as material. The owner David said he would come back he never did and he stop answering my calls. I regret being a customer all in out horrible experience. I recently needed to replace my bookcase bedframe and spent several days online looking at 4 different vendors. I had narrowed by search to one well advertised vendor and one model. I decided, since I had been to the Couch Potato several time and drove past it weekly, to stop and see what they had. I bought there and was very satisfied by the service, selection and value. 1. The quality of the bed frames was far superior to the online options. Instead of pressed wood chips it was solid pine, I had a choice of many stains colors instead of 1-4 colors, the frame was made for me and I was able to make small changes in the design which, of course, none of the online options provided. 2. Jessie's service was very good. He greeted me and introduced himself as if he was glad I was there. He showed me the options, explained the processes of picking a style, size, stain color, price and timeline. I did not find a model that I like on the floor so he brought out "The Book" that contained all of the designs available. I found the one I wanted right away, he made photocopies of the picture, gave me the price breakdown and timing and when I said, "I want to think about this and will contact you when I am ready." there was no pressure to make a decision. 3. The value was much better than online. I would have waited just as long as it took the online vendors to delivery my bed but I would have had to carry it into my bedroom and assemble it myself, Jessie delivered my bed, put it together and helped me move the mattress I had in another room and the mattress I had been using. He was friendly, courteous, on time and quickly assembled the bed for me. I highly recommend Couch Potato because of their service, selection and value. Jessie was wonderful.
