It's onlg four stars because the elevator broke. They apparently had it fixed that day, and then it broke again! It could be a ghost, IMHO, but humans made a second story restaurant take almost three flights. It was definitely doable, just an unhappy surprise. The parking is behind the building in a public lot, and most of the parking directly behind the Abner has been reserved for USPS. There are signs. The Courtroom itself is very pretty with at least two large restrooms. it doesn't say Courtroom as much as maybe law office decoration wise. There are many little tables in the waiting area and dining room, although each area does have a fireplace as well. The food was fantastic. The Abner Salad has local Arethusa cheese! The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the sides were so good they could have been meals on their own. Dessert also great as a deconstructed s'mores cheesecake,, although it was supposed to be raspberry themed and showed up with strawberry! (Honestly, I didn't notice until someone else pointed it out later)

A Christmas tradition for us is "shopping" in Litchfield. Our favorite clothier, Braeval, is around the corner from this wonderful little spot! We sat at the bar for some drinks and their version of a shepherds pie. Our bartender Dolly was sparkling and fun. The night was great. The food was too. Next time we will have to dine fully or try out the rooftop bar! Great new spot in the old courthouse!

Dining at The Courtroom was a great experience. The ambiance, food, drinks, and service were all 10/10. Since we were a fairly decent-sized party, we were able to try a variety of dishes from the menu, including the sea bass, steak frites, half chicken, pesto pasta, and spaghetti Bolognese. There wasn't a bad dish in the bunch! Service was attentive, and the cocktails and mocktails were absolutely delicious. While it would've been nice to see more original elements from the old courthouse preserved in the restaurant to enhance the historic feel, both the Abner Hotel and the restaurant are tastefully decorated. We won't hesitate to return!

We came here for the first time for a Valentine's Day dinner and had a lovely meal. It was pretty busy, I wouldn't say the service was especially fast, but our waiter was great and the food was very yummy. I loved the overall design and aesthetic, and that you could still very much tell what this building was prior to its new life. They had a jazz band playing in the corner for the holiday which was a lovely touch as well

For us, the "star" dish is shrimp and grits, in large part because these folks know how to prepare cheesy grits. They are cooked just right, not dry, not runny, very flavorful, and supporting a bed of big, yummy fried shrimp with a sprinkling of spinach on top. An excellent dish! But, so are the fish and chips, the French fries (they cook 'em crispy they way we prefer), and ... well, we haven't been disappointed at all. The young servers are friendly, the bar offers up some good, sweet treats, and the seating is under a well-protected tent outdoors and indoors since they are now a year-round operation. We think the prices are fair given the quality of food and the overall dining experience, which we'd label casual, or perhaps informal. Please note the parking area can get very crowded especially on weekends, so be prepared.

You have an open air tent seating option along with a field seating option that is family and dog friendly. Expect a longer wait time for food. Truly, their fried options are the best options on the menu and that shouldn't be the case. Their cocktails are not consistent, but when they're made well, they are great. The food is expensive for what you get, for instance, 1 small cod fillet for fish and chips. As I write, the more I realize perhaps it's a solid 3.5 stars. For an outdoor dining establishment in the summer, it hits the spot.

While nothing could take away the joy of marrying my best friend, Da Capo of Litchfield came incredibly close to overshadowing what should have been one of the happiest days of our lives. December 17, we met with one of Da Capo's managers during a casual lunch. We mentioned that we were planning a June wedding, and she enthusiastically told us that Da Capo had hosted weddings before and would be happy to accommodate ours. She painted a beautiful picture of what our day could be. We loved the restaurant, especially the garden, and after that conversation, we were excited to book our wedding there. It felt like the perfect place. A few weeks before our wedding, we finalized our menu with management. We selected an Apple Harvest Salad, Fried Calamari, Da Capo Chips, Rigatoni Bolognese, Chicken Piccata, Penne alla Vodka, bread, assorted desserts, coffee, tea, and soda. We were quoted $46 per person for our 40 guests, and everything appeared to be in order. The morning of our wedding was when everything began to fall apart. We arrived early to decorate, only to find the venue filthy. We had specifically been told that the deck would be power washed before our wedding because we planned to hang wisteria flowers, decorate the space, set up an arch, and arrange the tables ourselves. Instead, there was only one employee there--a cook who also handled landscaping. He had absolutely no idea there was a wedding taking place that day. Shortly afterward, the manager called my husband--not to welcome us or apologize--but to question what he was doing because the owners had seen us on the security cameras hanging our decorations and were upset. Nothing had been prepared. Nothing had been set up. It immediately became obvious that our wedding had not been communicated or planned properly. My husband kept all of this from me while I was getting ready because he didn't want anything to ruin what was supposed to be the happiest day of my life. Looking back, I'm incredibly grateful that he carried that burden so I could simply focus on marrying the man I love. Unfortunately, the problems didn't end there. When we arrived for our reception, we were told that Da Capo "doesn't normally do weddings"--a shocking statement considering they were the ones who encouraged us to book our wedding months earlier and assured us they had hosted weddings before. To make matters worse, there was only **one server assigned to care for 40 guests.** One server was expected to take drink orders, serve appetizers, organize the buffe, refill beverages, clear tables, and serve dessert. This was unfair to our guests and especially unfair to the server, who worked tirelessly and did everything she possibly could. She deserved support that management failed to provide. The food was another enormous disappointment. There was simply **not enough food for the 40 guests we paid for.** Many of our family members barely had anything to eat. Several guests commented that portions were gone before everyone had been served. As the bride, I hardly had an opportunity to eat, and my husband barely ate either. It was heartbreaking to realize that our guests--people who came to celebrate one of the most important days of our lives--left hungry. The professionalism from management was equally disappointing. Rather than acknowledging the problems or attempting to make things right, they were rude and dismissive toward my husband throughout the day. During our wedding ceremony, there were other patrons standing on the deck overlooking our ceremony, creating distractions during one of the most intimate moments of our lives. When my husband respectfully mentioned this concern, instead of apologizing or showing understanding, management responded with attitude and made him feel as though he had no right to even bring it up. On a day when we expected compassion and professionalism, we were instead met with disrespect. What disappointed us the most happened after the wedding. We reached out to management in hopes of discussing what had gone wrong and giving them an opportunity to acknowledge our concerns. Instead, we were met with more attitude and defensiveness. There was no genuine apology, no accountability, and no indication that they understood why we were so disappointed. The overall impression was that they believed everything had gone perfectly and that our concerns simply didn't matter. As customers who entrusted them with one of the most important days of our lives, that response was incredibly disheartening. No couple should have to worry about venue staff, inadequate food, poor communication, or rude treatment on their wedding day. Even more importantly, no couple should have their legitimate concerns dismissed after the fact. DaCapo gets 0 stars what once was a place we loved we will never patronize again.

It remains a small, independently owned store with a surprisingly full stock, lots of fresh meats, deli items, produce, a large beer cooler with all the local and foreign brands you night desire, and a very friendly and helpful staff. We're especially fond of the nice folks behind the deli counter. Our complaints are about the same: the prices hover on the high side. The prices are generally quite a bit higher than the nearby Stop and Shop, but honestly, the quality of their locally produced items is far higher. Still, if you're buying some basics like soup or milk, you'll pay more here, and some prices can be really way up there. Sometimes we're frustrated by that, other times we're grateful to find some delicious fresh fish or prepared salads. Bantam is not our first market of choice, but we're here regularly for some things we like and want.

But if you're looking for unique food items, this is your place. For me, I stop in often just to pick up some fried chicken from the deli, it's the best around -- juicy & meaty, but not greasy, and the coating is very tasty. $6.99 a pound. That fried chicken is 5 Stars every time. Friendly crew, but the checkout can be a bit of a process though, the place does a brisk business, and the parking lot is always full.
