Flies at our table, and more throughout our experience.

I rarely leave reviews, but I feel the need to warn fellow travelers about West Street Grill. My wife and I spent a night in Litchfield and chose this spot based on local and online recommendations--big mistake. From start to finish, the experience was a mess. The owner runs the front of house and seemed more focused on chatting with regulars and sniffing every pour of wine than actually managing service. The staff looked overwhelmed, and unfamiliar guests like us were clearly deprioritized. Tables seated after us received multiple courses before we even got our appetizer. We ordered the salmon board and two rigatoni pastas with wine, and everything was just... fine--nowhere near the quality or flavor you'd expect for the price. The atmosphere was tense, with the owner drinking and arguing with staff, and the place itself felt unkempt--sticky tables, flies buzzing around, and an overall lack of attention to detail. The kicker? As we were leaving, the owner suddenly became attentive, asking (borderline demanding) for a review after ignoring us all evening. It was awkward and disingenuous. There's clearly a management issue here. I'd skip this place if you're looking for a pleasant dining experience. Save your time and money--and grab dessert at Arethusa Farm instead; it's fantastic.

We called to make a reservation for a Sunday dinner and were informed they didn't take reservations passed 6:45pm on Sunday's as they close early. They only require your first name for a reservation. The service was nothing exceptional from the reservation call to the actual dine in experience. The food was also just alright. I ordered the portobello entree which wasn't too bad. I also tried a bite of my husbands pasta dish which was just ok. The good thing is that they had a handful of vegan options which was very cool. Their guacamole was good. We were seated in a partial booth type of table which looked like it could use a little cleaning. The seat was black so it was a little more obvious to see between the edge sidings.

We love this restaurant and the owner, James, is great! They have incredible food! Especially their corned beef (Reuben) sandwich! We came here twice to enjoy it since it is only on the menu during St. Patrick's day. Their peasant bread, burrata and desserts (Limoncello & cheesecake) are awesome as well! We look forward to returning!

    Smoked salmon appetizer. Amazing

Impressed with the food and the sauces. Everything was delicious. Service was very good too. Menu is on the higher end, although the restaurant has a casual vibe. See my pics. Will go back for sure.

Highly recommend! Dinner was amazing. The short ribs were absolute perfection. Both the service and food exceeded expectations.

The dinner menu was atypical, featuring an eclectic fusion of dishes executed with lots of creative flair. Flavor, quality and freshness of ingredients were top notch. Our starter, Garlic Maple Whiskey Chicken Bites, came accompanied with grilled shishito peppers. Perfect for sharing and so lovely paired with a glass of prosecco. Next, we sampled Bouillabaisse and Miso Roasted Black Cod in dashi broth. Seafood for both mains were super fresh. The Bouillabaisse broth was remarkably flavorful, the hint of saffron ever present but not overwhelming. How nice to have the red pepper rouille and slices of bread (customary in France) served alongside for the authentic experience. Miso Roasted Black Cod was tasty, succulent and fork tender. Beautifully arranged with mushrooms and Brussels sprouts surrounding the fish, plus a delectable piece of polenta cake tucked underneath. Dashi broth was poured onto dish tableside, creating a warm umami rich dish that was not only delicious but also extremely satisfying. On to desserts....The Chocolate Tarte with sea salt, nuts and berry coulis, a picture of understated elegance, was incredibly sublime. The Warm Apple Tartlet à la Mode with vanilla ice cream was good too. Would have preferred a tad less cinnamon though. All things considered, this was an exemplary meal. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. Hope to return again soon.

We started off with warm olive bread with whipped butter (perhaps the best butter we've had) and a chilled melon, mint yogurt shooter amuse bouche. We then moved onto the yellowfin tartare and Arethusa Farm Dairy artisanal cheeses featuring a variety of their delicious cheeses, including their acclaimed Gouda. For our mid course we had the braised duck dumplings, calamari stuffed with squid ink risotto, and sweet corn and ricotta agnolotti. This was our favorite part of the meal with the calamari and agnolotti being standout dishes for us. For entrees we went with the tamarind glazed black cod with black rice and lemongrass sauce and the pork tenderloin. With finished off with the famous Arethusa Farm dairy ice cream (mint, strawberry, and sweet cream chocolate trip) which truly channeled the essence of farm fresh and ended what was a delicious feast of flavors. This is amongst our favorite farm to table restaurants and def would reccomend this for a special occasion

We dined with a small party in a private room, warm and comfy, and boasting elegant, polished service from a sharp and friendly team of servers. Excellent. For Easter, we were given a prix fixe menu ($150 per) that provided some fine choices among appetizers, entrees and desserts. The appetizers included octopus, quail and some super tasty (and NOT overcooked) seared tuna. Delicious. The entrees included duck and chicken but all of us deferred to the tenderloin which was perfectly cooked to our preference, tender and ... well, just what we wanted. Add in the desserts and the drinks -- lots of specialty beverages. all on the pricey side -- and we were totally satisfied. Not a complaint in the group.
