We enjoyed the lobster and snow crab broil with corn and potato as well as fried soft shell crab and fried oysters. I had a taste for crab legs , and Th Crab Cracker was my closest option. Turns out it was pretty good . You choose your platter then your seasoning . I'm not used to this, I'm used to seafood being boiled in Old Bay....but crab is hard to come by in these parts , so I didn't make a big deal, and chose a Cajun garlic seasoning. All of the boil comes in a bag, and if you like you can have plastic gloves, utensils for breaking legs , and a plastic bib. The boil includes seafood, potatoes, and corn. I just saw this new spot for seafood in the university area so I had to check it out. My first impression was I liked the decor and atmosphere. Our waiter was great. The staff is friendly, ready to help, and very attentive. I never once had to ask for a drink refill, my server was that on top of everything. I ordered the shrimp basket with the Cajun fries. The shrimp tasted fresh and the breading was crispy. The fries were tender and slightly crispy on the outside...not dry at all. When we were leaving, I forgot my leftovers in the take home box on the table...the guy bussing the tables came all the way out of the restaurant to bring it to me! That is great service!! I've spent a lot of time time in Louisiana, and I love spicy Cajun food .. and this place transported me to Louisiana with their food! My server Karla was helpful in recommending that if I like spicy, order it HOT and she was right on the mark since the hot flavor was not burning hot at all: just the right amount of kick you would expect for authentic Cajun! I started off with the popcorn crawfish served over a basket of french fries (I opted for Cajun seasoning .. of course!) Now, I know this place is called the Crab Cracker, but I was in the mood for clams, so I ordered a pound of clams, tossed in hot "Ragin' Cajun" seasoning. It gets served to you in a bag like a seafood boil with a potato and an ear of corn .. plus you get a plastic bib and some plastic gloves (probably not as necessary for the clams but for the crab you might want to don the bib!) No alcohol, just Pepsi products .. but that was okay .. at least tonight! The food was oh so good ... just the perfect amount of flavor and heat! And the service was great too .. thanks Karla! Well here we are again at yet another crab spot in Charlotte. The prices beat every other spot I have been to so far. I also like that they give you popcorn while you wait was a good touch. We will get to the wait! I got my "go to" in order to compare apples to apples which is a half pound of shrimp and snow crab. I go all in with the house specialty sauce "the cracker sauce" is the name of it here and I always go hot. They do an alright job with seasoning the seafood but it wasn't very hot. My nose didn't run. It's my barometer what can I say!? The service was their downfall. I could blame it on me coming on a Friday evening but I won't. Getting seated wasn't an issue at all. We were seated almost immediately getting there at 7:30. The wait comes once you get seated. Stephanie forgot many things. I ordered calamari while waiting for my mom to join us, that never came. Then the food took a while and I can easily go thru 6 or 8 glasses of water when I dine so that is also a sore spot. I had to ask many time for water to the point where she just dropped off a pitcher. I overheard another table complaining about their service as well. The tables didn't turn over very quickly and there was a line by the time we were leaving at 9:30. Yeah that long. Of course I will give them another try. Those prices, what can I say. read more

Went to visit on a rainy Friday evening with my husband and kids. We were seated right away & the server came within a minute or so of sitting down to get our drink orders. He was super friendly. We got wings & calamari for an appetizer & a couple boil bags and a couple fried baskets for our main dishes to share. Everything we ate was super delicious, I have zero complaints in regards to taste, freshness, anything. We gobbled it up. This will be our go-to place for seafood in University area. To start, their prices are far more reasonable than the others that have popped up in Charlotte and the taste is great as well. I ordered my food to-go but inside looks very stylish and I wouldn't have a problem eating here with friends or family. My husband and daughter don't eat seafood so they got the chicken tenders and fries. Definitely frozen tenders but it's real white meat chicken which makes it good. The ranch is just okay but they obviously aren't known for it. The cajun seasoning on the fries is also pretty good. We ordered a side of hushpuppies which were had pieces of corn in them. We liked that they were on the sweet side and be sure to ask for melted butter to dip them in. I ordered the heads off shrimp boil with medium heat Ragin Cajun sauce and it didn't disappoint. I was extremely appreciative that they deveined the shrimp. That made them easy to peel and allowed the sauce to seep into the shrimp as opposed to just on the shell. I asked for extra sauce so I could have plenty to dip my shrimp, corn and potatoes in. It lacks a little bit of salt but a couple shakes were fine enough for me. The amount of shrimp you get was the cherry on top, I'd say I had about 20 shrimp which I didn't expect. You don't feel like you overpaid for a small amount of food. You'll leave full for sure. I will return here every time I crave shrimp and we would also like to try their wings, crab legs and fried options. As long as they keep the value aligned with the food, this restaurant will thrive, just needs more marketing so more of us would know where it is or that its even there! So to start I was here on vacation and wanted to satisfy my seafood craving by coming here . The place was very Clean . We were greeted by the sweet host who then sat us immediately which is always a plus . I like their prices and feel they are very reasonable . We had a very nice and patient male waiter who took his time to explain the levels to the sauces and seasonings for our 8 year old . We enjoyed our food which came out at a nice temperature for you to just dive in . We had a great experience here . So I'm only doing 4 stars because they don't sale cocktails like similar locations I've been to in Maryland which we definitely needed after a long day at a basketball tournament in the area but the wine we settled for was a nice replacement. I don't know what others ordered but i am like blah...Ordered the onion rings as a starter and they arrived quite dark but we still tried them and what a nasty taste in my mouth. They tasted like dirty grease. My cup is dirty, around the rim. My husband ordered one of the 45.00 bags and I'm tasting and let me tell you it's not worth it. The flavor is supposed to be garlic butter but it is so very bland. The shrimp is chewy as hell, feel like I'm chewing gum. Disappointed. I order the special with the cracker sauce with not my spice. I couldn't taste any spice what so ever it was a bit bland with a lot of garlic. The menu said it was supposed to come with 2 clusters but it only came with 1 cluster and 2 legs. I asked about it and they just said that's by the pound. Which as someone who eats crab a lot 2 full clusters non frozen is 1lb. My boyfriend order the catfish and that definitely didn't have any seasoning. I love how recently there's been several seafood boil places opening. This place is a little far from my house, but I finally made the trek yesterday. It is in the university area in the Harris Teeter shopping center where mybento Asian restaurant used to be. There is plenty of parking and on a Sunday afternoon on game day, it wasn't busy. Service was super friendly and fast. The restaurant is very spacious with a open floor plan. It feels really clean. I had the soft-shell crab and the combo (1lb crawfish and 1lb shrimp with head). The soft-shell crab was delicious! I highly recommend it. It comes over Cajun fries, which were also tasty. For my combo, I can't handle much heat, so I got mild and then the cracker sauce. Food came out quick and the combo comes with corn and potatoes. The crawfish and shrimp tasted fresh and the spices were just enough! They provide gloves and bibs. I love how their napkins come out of a dispenser on the table versus the rolls of paper towels at other seafood boils. It's much easier to pull and use. The prices are pretty good too. They were just okay. The inside was nice, but the food was mediocre. The corn had no seasoning at all. We got the calamari and I just don't recall enough about it. They only served beer and wine which the server was unsure if they had any that day. I'll come back if I have to, but I'm not excited to come back and definitely no place I have to frequent. We preferred the Cracker sauce and would've liked it more if it was just a little thicker so everything was incorporated more (tasted mostly butter first before I really mixed it in) and spicier.
