Found this place for Sunday brunch via Yelp. First impressions not great. A nondescript building in a nondescript strip mall in a pretty nondescript part of town, we feared the worst. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was pretty empty at 1.15 (another ominous sign) but the service and the food were excellent. A vast menu offered something for everyone. We found Cracked Egg on apple Maps for close breakfast places. With a name like Cracked Egg, we thought this would be a trendy new breakfast place similar to "Snooze", "Over-Easy", or Cured Ham." When we pulled up we realized it was a pretty old place with very little done for design or any upkeep. The inside looks like an out-of-date Denny's... and that is not saying much since all Denny's look out-of-date already. This is the look we would expect from a 1 star Chinese buffet. We got seated quickly despite being pretty busy and had our waitress take our drink order within a couple of minutes. I love good service. I noticed that all the menu's said all the coffee served was "100% Guatemalan Coffee" so we ordered two cups. Nothing about what we drank was exotic nor originating any further south than Mesa. When I asked the waitress the blend of the coffee, she just indicated that it was a cheap house blend and not from Guatemala. After our drinks, the waitress took our order pretty quickly, I ordered Eggs Benedict and my girlfriend ordered Country Fried Steak, both with potatoes, hers with toast. At first appearance, it looked like the cook was limited to only ingredients what were brown, light brown, or off-white. Nothing appealing about how our dishes looked. A pop of color from fresh herbs or onions or tomatoes or hell, even garnish would have made this plate look less like an Oliver Twist meal and more like a $20 per person meal. My Eggs Benedict came with hard boiled yolks (see picture). Immediate turn off. The Country fried steak was dried out and a mess. The menu described the gravy as "Sausage Gravy" but we were hard pressed to find any remnants of sausage, nor any flavor of sausage. It tasted like milk and flour with pepper. Salt... that is what this meal needed to start with. None of my Country Potatoes nor my GF's Breakfast hash had any seasoning. No salt, no pepper, no herbs, no anything really. My breakfast potatoes bored my tastebuds within the first bite. The potato pieces could easily be mistaken for croutons. No party in my mouth from this place with those potatoes. Overall, the service is great and impressive, the wait staff takes the time to make sure you have everything and the tag team of servers ensured that we got all our food quickly. The food needs help. DESPERATE help. The blandness of all the food may appeal to the elderly regeneration, but for the increasing foodies population, the experience just begs to have more. The visual appearance of the meal is pretty bland, followed by no seasoning, improper egg techniques and overall, BORING appearance. Food should be an experience not just a necessity. This place would have been great during the depression when the act of receiving food was enough, but in this modern age of taste and abundant choices, this place really falls behind. The menu needs a serious overhaul, the cooks need to not be afraid of using fresh ingredients, herbs, and seasonings, the owner has to want to be relevant within the restaurant industry and the interior needs help... Bad help. If you are looking for comfort food with no regard of palate, then this is the place, if you think that a $40 breakfast for two should have something redeeming, this is not the place. The only reasons why it didn't get one star, is because the service was decent. read more

Wow this place was a total surprise. We found it on yelp since it was near the car rental place! The place was clean, staff was so friendly and they had safety protocols in place. The food was BOMB!!!!! I had the Cholita Benedict's and omg that CHORIZO, I wish I could bag it and take home. I cleaned my plate. My bf has the Cowboy Burrito and that was another amazing dish. If I could give this place a 0 I would. I just left this restaurant and I'm so grossed out and will never come back. To start off I noticed our waiter touching food without gloves then she touched her hair and was on her phone then touched the food AGAIN. I'm sorry but that's absolutely disgusting. Then I noticed there was a bucket of butter that was just sitting out and they were using it on toast. All the waiters kept touching the bread with their hands and putting it in the toaster then would take it out and just leave it on top of a machine. No plate or anything. I noticed another waiter touching the bread and poked her finger in it. (probably checked to see if it's still warm) but again you don't do that. Then when our food came the bread she had poked she gave to my husband. There was 2 holes in the bread where her fingers were. After that I felt so gross and I didn't want to eat. With or without Covid you don't touch food with your bare hands. If they are doing that out in the open what are they doing in the kitchen. I've worked in restaurants for 15 years and never experienced something so awful. read more

Good stuff! We enjoyed every bit of the spicy Patron skillet, Huevos Rancheros and every other breakfast dish. The service won us over in spite of the wait. The coffee is fabulous - you kinda have to have a good reputation if you're going to sell it! One more thing - splurge - get the chocolate cream slice of pie. Waited a really long time to get seated, then waited a long time to get our food. 5 minutes in to eating and we were given the check. Never got checked on. Server and hostess looked miserable to be there. Food was okay pancake was burnt on one side and other side was undercooked. Maybe an off day but I will not be going again. read more

Seriously, Yay! I'm a fan. While I do love my fancy brunches with mimosas on deck, I still very much love a good old fashioned breakfast. Old fashioned as in ... crispy edges on my pancake, fried eggs fried hard, bacon cooked hard, hot lumpy grits. That's the kind of old fashioned breakfast I like and that's exactly what I received when I dined at "The Cracked Egg". My boyfriend and I tried The Cracked Egg after leaving GCU at 8am in the morning. I noticed the huge sign on the outside window for a special for $5.99. Since it's an old fashioned diner I figured the special was for seniors so I didn't bother paying much attention to it. We entered and seated immediately. We weren't extremely hungry so we decided to share a meal. We were going share a 2 piece pancake combo with pork sausage, hash browns and eggs and an extra order of turkey sausage. The waitress wrote our order down but then said, "Hey we're running a special. 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, hash browns and a meat for 5.99 before 10am". WHAT?! That's exactly what we were about to order with the addition of the extra meat but for way more money. SO ... the special we ordered! Everything was perfect. Breakfast was amazing and I'm so glad I came here. In this photo, you see cinnamon roll pancakes , farmers skillet with over easy eggs , Pancho omelette w potatoes made similar to hash brown, and a biscuit (forgot the yummy gravy not taken in this photo). This was a meal for two . Service was exceptional and the food was delectable. I definitely would come here again. read more

We went on Sunday and it was packed. The service was great, we were in in less time than stated and got our drinks quick. We waited awhile after placing our breakfast orders with promises that the food would be out shortly. But once we received our plates, we couldn't even finish! Highly recommend this place. Looking forward to trying their French toast. We also ordered a pancake which took up a large dinner plate. read more

I love breakfast of all kinds and will take into consideration the delivery time. We ordered Irish Benedict, the classic burrito, biscuits and gravy, and a side of sausage and chicken tenders. The side items and burrito were good! My mom said the biscuits were really big and a little dense but overall fine. The potatoes were unseasoned and soggy (assuming because the delivery did take a minute). The Irish eggs Benedict were an experience... the meat was not very good, there was no poached eggs and no hollandaise sauce... just the meat on top of some English muffins. I mean the EGG is usually in the title for eggs Benedict. Why it was omitted I have no idea. Idk why but they also threw in a second order of the biscuits and gravy. If I ever try this place again at least I know what not to order I guess. read more

Ordered Door dash, got several items, all of which was expensive as hell, and it was all garbage. They messed up the breakfast burrito, burnt eggs, and overall just not tasty at all, the fries were super soggy, which may not have been there fault entirely, but the bacon lover's omelette, Was vomit inducing. Pretty pissed off, I spent a bunch of money and the food was awful. Do not buy from here, they have no Idea how to cook. I can cook better at home. I should be the chef cooking for them cause they suck. read more

What a great breakfast! We arrived about 11 am, immediately got a table. The staff is super nice. Drinks were delivered quickly, and we had adequate time to look at the menu. The food came out quickly, and EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS! Our server checked in a couple of times, our used plates were cleared quickly. Breakfast for three adults was about $60, very reasonably priced. We cannot think of one single thing that could have made our visit any better. (Valet?) read more

This was a to go order. My daughter ordered 4 extra tortillas for $8 unknown to me which is a stupid price. And, they didn't arrive in the order. The Western omelet with green chili's has no green chili's and was just a mass of onions and grey sauce-disgusting. The avocado which came with the other omelette was black.Called the place and the snotty hostess said her manager was to busy to talk to us. Avoid this place. read more

Such a disappointment. I really dislike giving a less then favorable reveiw of a restrurant when there are so many positive reviews. So let's start off on a good note. The staff at Cracked Egg are warm, friendly, and accommodating, which is why I feel terrible for calling out their food as bland and tastless. We really wanted to like the cracked Egg so badly, but the way to begin a meal is not with brunt black toast, over- cooked eggs/bacon, and undercooked potatoes. The entire meal from beginning to end just wasn't good. I wasn't expecting a 5 star meal, however, I would have expected food that wasn't burnt or overcooked. read more

Ordered from here on Grubhub and the food was horrible. I got a burger aNd the lettuce was brown and wilted. It was supposed to have mayo and pickles and that was was missing. The eggs were runny,and biscuits were still partially raw. read more

Well all was going well...until... the dreaded hair in my pancake! Ugh! There's just no recovering from that in my opinion. Sadly when I brought it to our server's attention she didn't appear shocked or surprised. It was more of a 'ugh...not again' kind of reaction. She removed it from our bill, but.... I'm done. Can't think of any reason that I'd be willing to eat here again. I'm giving them two stars because our party of seven was seated with nearly no wait and our service was really good. Our server was friendly and accommodating. The food take longer to come out than we thought it should considering they weren't packed the day we were there...and then it was all ruined by the hair. I'm still sick thinking of it! read more

This place doesn't look like it would be great from the outside, but the inside is actually really cute! It's got a vintage diner feel to it. My only complaint is that the space between the table and the booth is really narrow so I felt a bit claustrophobic. We ordered the pineapple upside down pancakes, chicken fried steak skillet and a side of biscuits and gravy since we saw so many reviews mention them. (We weren't going for healthy today, obviously!) My pancakes were delicious! I would have taken a picture, but the waitress accidentally spilled the syrup all over them so it wasn't the most attractive presentation. My husband really enjoyed his skillet and the biscuits and gravy were enormous! Definitely large portions, so much I think my hubby and I could have split something if we had similar taste in food haha. (One area we don't really agree on- ordering a pizza with him is a nightmare lol!) The staff was really friendly and I never had to wait for coffee refills or even request them, which is really nice. They do have a lot of healthy options on their menu too which is really nice. Definitely a nice little breakfast/brunch find in our area! read more

I have been coming to this place for three years...and each experience is just as good as the one before. The team working here is top notch and always serves with a smile. The weekends are busiest, but it's worth the wait. Thank you for employing good people and for serving delicious food. Shout out to Ashley for always keeping the bar together. Omg this was my first time eating here with my fiancé and the food was so good!! The service was prompt! I ordered the Signature French Toast with the $3 add on. The French toast was exactly how it looked in the picture. The taste and smell was mind blowing. I'm from out of state and I was passing through. My fiancé ordered the buttermilk pancakes with the $3 add-on and they were so fluffy and light. His bacon was so crispy and good. My server was so sweet. read more

Went to this place to grab a lunch with my niece but we will course ordered breakfast food. Our server is a little slow and I'm not sure if my order was correct or not but my wheat toast never came. My mom had been here one other time and got the cinnamon roll pancakes, which she loved (and why we are here today) -- Nothing was speaking to me on the menu so I just ordered the classic OBH pancakes. I would give them about a 5/10 on the pancake scale. Also they didn't have real maple syrup even to purchase for extra -- they say their syrup is a maple syrup blend -- it wasn't full on plastic but it wasn't real maple syrup. I also ordered a side of scrambled eggs with cheddar -- it was a little runny and overall just average. The coffee was rank -- I would give it a 2/10. This restaurant was absolutely phenomenal! It was my first time dining here, and I was so impressed. The food was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I especially love that they don't cook with seed oils--it's such a nice touch and something I really appreciate.
