Went to Ronnie's Cafe off 43rd Ave & Cactus for breakfast today. This place looks like it's been around forever, and honestly, that's part of what makes it good. Definitely a local neighborhood spot. You could tell there were a bunch of regulars hanging out, eating breakfast, talking with the staff, and just enjoying the morning. The service was awesome. Our server was super friendly, sociable, and made you feel welcome. I'd give her a 10/10 just for the service and personality. Now the food... I ordered one of the big breakfast plates, and when it came out, I was like, damn, that's a lot of food! But it was really good and definitely worth the money. You're not leaving this place hungry. Next time, unless I'm starving, I'll probably go with one of the smaller breakfast plates. But for a good old-school breakfast, good portions, fair prices, and great service, you really can't beat it. Good little local find. Go check them out! read more

The crowd seemed to be mostly older regulars, and the atmosphere didn't feel particularly welcoming or diverse. Didn't feel especially comfortable or bipoc friendly. The portions were large, but the food itself was pretty underwhelming. The French toast was extremely eggy. If you're looking for a traditional, old-school breakfast spot, this may check the box. I feel like I was so busy admiring all the art, that the food came out so quick! Husband ordered the big farmers breakfast and I got the french toast breakfast special. Hubby devoured his food, as much as he could! The pancakes were huge. After eating his main plate, he took a few bites then stuffed them in a to go box. I have reviewed Ronnie's before, but it has been a while. We continue to dine there and it never disapoints us. I have never had a bad meal there. Sure, maybe sometimes the home fried potatoes aren't quite as crisp as the last time, but never have we had poor service or bad food. I don't believe that there is anything on the menu that is more than $19.95, most everything is much less! The portions will fill a hungry person and will probably take some home. I don't think that anyone else can beat their 5 egg omelettes. Absolutely scrumptious! In the almost 20 years that we have been dining at this restaurant, I think that I have voiced only one complaint! This was a stellar family breakfast we had! Portion sizes are big, service is stellar, and feels like one of those places where everybody knows your name. The servers are all in communication with all of the tables, and they're all upbeat, jovial, and making sure everyone is enjoying their emails and there time there. it was a real small community feel. We came in with the fam, my two kids and one of their friends, and my partner and I. Arrived around 12:45pm (they close at 2) and they sat us right down, there wasn't a wait. Our server gave us a few minutes with the menu and we ordered right away, and the food came up in what seemed like less than 10 minutes (7-8 maybe?) and boy oh boy was everything tasty! If you read any of my other reviews, you'll see that I drink a lot and I one of my rating points is how on point serving staff is with my refills. It was crowded, as most places are on Sunday mornings, but I would imagine this place busy all the time. Based on conversations I overheard, it sounds like a regular stop for quite a few people. I had a Philly omelette and it was scrumptious. It was a bit light on the salt, but that can always be added. Once you put too much salt in anything, there is no going backwards. I can see why they only lightly salt the food. The clientele here seemed to be in the older range (including myself), so salt is something to watch. My husband and I came in for breakfast for the first time, and as a veteran and small business owner myself, I really appreciated the support for the military and was genuinely looking forward to the experience. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out that way. Our waitress, Violet, came across as cold and unwelcoming from the start, no greeting and a noticeably harsh tone when we asked simple questions(asked for different options of creamer, while she walked by). Stumbled on this place when we left another restaurant that we wanted to try but didn't like what we saw and I will thank the other place for it. lol This is by far the best breakfast we have had. A great meat lovers omelette loaded with meat and cheese and huge. My wife had the eggs and homemade fried potatoes and they were the bomb. Everything we had was fabulous and huge and the best part was the pricing was extremely good for what you get. I decided to try breakfast at Ronnie's due to my sister's recommendation. What a great surprise! When I walk through the restaurant to be seated I looked at the customers portion size of their meals. WOW talk about large B portions! My daughter and I split an omelette plate which included potatoes and we ordered gravy on the side with Homemade toast (bread). The omelette was great and I really enjoyed my potatoes with the homemade bread. Our waitress was attentive and helpful with what to order. Definitely one of my favorite brunch spots in Arizona! Make sure to come before 8:30am on the weekends otherwise expect to wait at least an hour since it's always packed! Service is attentive and friendly here. Parking can be a little difficult when it's packed since the parking lot isn't too big. Portion size here is huge!! I got their omelette and it was stuffed with ingredients and super delicious! Their pancakes are super yummy and big. So fluffy and literally melts in your mouth! I tried Ronnie's Cafe for the first time. The place is located in a strip mall at Cactus & 43rd Ave. The restaurant hours are 6 am to 2 pm Monday to Sunday. The interior is decorated with pictures and memorabilia from local events to local businesses. Even the dinner tables have local businesses pictured on them. My waitress was friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Florentine Omelet. The side item options were: Home Fried Potatoes, Fruit, Cottage cheese, Grits or Oatmeal. There's was also an option of toast or 1 biscuit. The Florentine Omelet had Sliced Tomatoes, Spinach, Swiss cheese and Bacon. I also ordered a lemonade. The Omelet was well prepared and all thee ingredients complimented each other. I had a side of ranch dressing to add to the meal. The food was so great and affordable that I ordered The Cactus Club sandwich to go. That sandwich had Turkey, Lettuce, sliced Tomatoes & Bacon strips all on Sourdough bread. My side was coleslaw. But, you can choose: Fruit, Cottage cheese, Soup, Salad, French Fries or Potato Salad. The sandwich was incredibly delicious. The only negative was that the coleslaw was vinegar based and nothing noticeably tasty about it and they ran out of lettuce that day. Besides all that, I look forward to returning in the near future and trying something else. "They also have a carry-out menu."
