This place is in the middle of a strip mall and some what difficult to see from the street. Plenty of parking in the private lot. Parking spots have no lines and the parking lot is filled with glass and potholes. Be patient with this place. They are not open on Saturdays and it may take a couple of phone calls to get someone. Best to just go in and wait in line. Ignore the menu, this place will cook certain food items when they feel like it. I came on a Sunday and had to wait in line for over an hour. There were 35 people already in line and they were preparing a large catering order. The food is served cafeteria style so it does not take long. The food tastes great. It is well seasoned and the the portions are large. Prices are low. I love the turkey wings/legs, mac and cheese, and greens. Very affordable prices.

I ordered this meal via uber eats because....Covid. I ordered their Thursday Special, Lasagna with cabbage and fried okra. I also ordered the catfish sandwich with fries and a drink. It took an hour and 45 minutes to get the order. It wasn't picked up by the uber driver until an hour had passed. My order was placed in Styrofoam containers and cellophaned together to try to keep the heat in....very much appreciated. There was no drink left for the catfish sandwhich meal. I wasn't too upset about that as I had expected it. It said it came with fries and a drink but didn't give options to select a drink on the uber eats website. So I was okay with not having a drink....but when I opened the container, there were no fries and 2 fried "catfish" fillets in between two slices of think Texas bread....it wasn't toasted so I'm not calling it Texas toast. When I tried the fish, it tasted more like swai than catfish. The lasagna looked like I got the scraping from the bottom of the pan. Not neat and layered at all. Tasted like a doctored hamburger helper meal with shredded cheese sprinkled on top. The cabbage was okay but had ZERO seasoning. Bland as can be. The fried okra was alright but again no seasoning. But it was fried well. I like to give fair reviews. In this case, I did not recieve what I paid for and the quality of the food I received left a lot to be desired. Not sure if I'll waste my money with them again but if I do, hopefully I would be able to update this review. This was my first time having their food. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

My daughter first told me about this place and I went by to pick up a take home dinner. The workers were very courteous and they actually wore plastic gloves while they prepared your plate. (a big plus these days) They give you way more than enough for the price you pay. I had 2 pieces of baked chicken, cabbage and broccolli w/cheese.....and paid less than $10!! It would have cost me more than that to cook that just for myself. It was absolutely delicious. I loved it so much, that I went right back the next day for lunch and took a friend. This time I actually ate in. It's a little small, but if you like that down home kind of feel, you will be just fine eating there. read more

Buffet style soul food mom and pop spot with seating. I went on a Sunday afternoon and waited about 30 minutes. The line grows and shrinks in spurts so don't be deterred by reading this. I went with friends so I didn't feel the wait as much. They were really excited about this spot so I'm guessing it's one of the soul food places to check out while in Memphis. They have a large menu posted behind the register but I was told wait til you get to the glass to see actual prepared options. I ended up trying the Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes, gravy, greens, roll, and lemonade. Unfortunately, it wasn't as great as it looked. The food was flavorful and hot but not hitting my tastebuds. Actually, the roll was really good. I thought I was just going to take a bit but I definitely devoured it lol and I'm not big on bread. The lemonade was good. Salisbury steak is not something I eat regular but wanted to try something different. Although I didn't love my meal, I will return and would recommend to others. I had no issues with customer service. It felt home like the workers knew the diners and lots of conversation was exchanged. I like to see that. There was plenty of available seating as most people take their meals to go. The restaurant was clean. I rated 4 stars because my friends LOVED their food. First time visiting. Chicken the bomb! Mac and cheese good. Broccoli and cheese wasn't a great side as it was soggy. Greens were out the can so I didn't like those either. Let me tell y'all, the kool aid had that sugar, like your grandmas back in the day. And last, my favorite, THE SPAGHETTI!!!! Baby. I'm headed to get another side portion of that today. The best food and soul food I have had in a city full of amazing food. This place was so very good that You can't go wrong with any fish you get. My brother had the meatloaf and it was amazing. J had turkey wings and they were really good too. It was a nice little line but I just take that as a sign of good food. Very clean and safe area with lots of seating. A lot of food to choose from on menu, meats are cooked very tender & falling off the bone- but not well seasoned. The food is very blain. I'm from Louisiana, about 30 miles from New Orleans (country girl). We cook with different Cajun seasonings which makes our food tasteful & finger licking good. I guess that's what I'm used to. Their cake slices however are very good, homemade btw. Your food is nothing if it isn't tasty/delicious. Sorry! read more

I have been here on occasions to buy soul food for carry out after work. The prices are reasonable for the quantity of food you receive and the seasoning is not overpowering; like some soul food restaurants in Memphis. You may eat in, but most people get carryout/call in orders. I plan on coming again to try the other dishes on the menu. read more

If you're looking for some good soul food, this place here is absolutely wonderful. A co-worker put me on to this place about 6 years ago, and I've been a fan ever since! I don't mind the long lines at all if it means I can have some of that delicious catfish, greens, yams, cornbread, peach cobbler (on selected days)! The owners and staff are very nice and friendly and the restaurant has a wholesome atmosphere. My only advice is to get there early because they get very busy and your favorite side(s) may be gone before you get to the front of the line. All in all, great place! read more

The Crock Pot II on Shelby Drive in Memphis Tn. is price gouging its customers. Today 01/29/2021 I got 4-pieces of catfish and a double helping of spaghetti. I was charged $28-dollars and some change. I could have gotten Alaska King Crab or Sockeye salmon( they don't sell this food) somewhere else for that price. The staff never attempted to share with me about other options available to where it wouldn't cost me so much for this little food. This is definitely over-pricing and the food wasn't that good. I paid it but going forward never again. I will not be going back any time soon or perhaps not at all. I will alert all my friends and family of this and not to patronize The Crockpot II. The staff seems to all have an attitude and appears irritated to serve the customers. When I asked a question, there was no response until I inquired whether she heard me, then she replied " I'm checking"! Very awkward situation and very unprofessional staff... I'm a Very unsatisfied Customer! read more

I love the food. I eat here sometimes a couple times a week since I moved to this area 3 years ago! Service is great, the food is on point and they give you plenty. Wish there was more dressing on Sunday's. But hey her there early because the line on Sunday's is off the chain. I have not had one dish that I have not enjoyed. Great prices. read more

This is the second time I ate at this business. First of all there was a long line outside waiting on the business to open , they open at 12 on Sunday's , but it was 12: 15 when they opened the door , didnot opologize for customers waiting outside and opening 15 minutes late. I had chitterlings, greens, mac & cheese. The chitterlings had no flavor but really spicy , the macaroni tasted like box macaroni and the greens where terrible..... no flavor at all!!!!! I heard the beef ribs are good maybe I should've tried those. I'm not saying all of their food is nasty but the 2 times I ate there it wasn't good. Guess I will never know what the rest taste like because I will NEVER give them my money again nor will I recommend this business to anyone!!!! read more

Southern food that's both delicious and affordable! Smothered pork chops are so tender it's ridiculous; my sons LOVE the corn and cabbage. If you go on the days they have lasagna, you owe it to yourself to get some! Not a fancy place, limited drink selections (no beer or wine) but it's awfully good. I'll sometimes stop by and pick up plates to go and take home for the fam....at about $10 a plate it's hard to beat!! read more

No Crock Pot II for me! The mac n cheese was just macaroni and cheese baked and very salty. The green beans had no taste and were very, very greasy! The chicken was dry. The server made me feel like he was annoyed I was taking so long to make my choices, only because I had not been there before and wanted to read the menu thoroughly. I am still burping up grease! I gave it a 2 for fast service (felt rushed) and the price was decent, but I would rather pay more for better tasting food. read more

The servings portion. The young lady actually counted out 4 yams and put them on my plate. When the dip the spoon in the pans, the actually shake some of the food off of the spoon. Wow! Some kind of service huh? read more

Crockpot 2 overcharges for chicken and dressing plate. There is no additional price on menu. They charged me more than $3.59 for 1 breast and $2.59 for 1 wing in addition to $6.99 for 2 pcs meat with 2 veggies which is normal price of plate. This plate was not worth more than $12.00 cost. I eat out daily and others do not overcharge in this way. I was charged twice for 1 plate. Outrageous! Lost a regular and loyal customer of many years. I take my business elsewhere now. read more

This location has nothing on the downtown location! After 1pm they are always out of certain foods (even their daily specials)! I ordered dinner there just the other day and they were out of yams, the cabbage and chicken was overcooked and tasteless; and the mac and cheese was burned and old. My family will not be eating here anymore. read more

Missed lunch, decided to stop at Crock Pot II on the way home and pick up dinner. Tried their meatloaf -- it was truly awful -- void of any taste -- just a clump of meat with what tasted like some type of filler and no other ingredients such as onions or bell pepper -- all covered in tomato sauce. I literally had to toss it. What a wasted $10. Try it for yourself, maybe you like it that way. They have good chicken though. read more

That being said, after eating here, I completely understand why people mention waiting hours on weekends. The ordering process is simple: walk up to the counter, place your order, grab a number, and seat yourself. I appreciated that they offer both breakfast and lunch all day because it meant we didn't have to choose between the two. I ordered the chicken tenders with tater tots and an Arnold Palmer. Everything was fresh, hot, and exactly the kind of comfort food you crave in the middle of a long road trip. Kyler ordered the Kitchen Sink, which came with eggs, bacon, hash browns, grits, and a biscuit. He asked if he could swap the cheesy grits and biscuit for biscuits and gravy, and they ended up bringing him everything anyway! It was a massive meal, but absolutely delicious. Beyond the food, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I also loved the fun, eclectic atmosphere. The colorful Memphis touches throughout the restaurant gave it so much personality, and there was even a bar area that made me think this would be an absolute blast for brunch with friends. Love the speakeasy entrance off the side alley steps. It's everything you would want in a dining experience. Get the she crab soup!
