From the outside and the prices of the food you'd think it would be a nice, somewhat classy restaurant. Think again. The table cloth was paper. Everyone is wearing a mask but doesn't change their gloves. I rather people just wash their hands if their going to visibly slap their hair because it itches then serve me food without sanitizing. We ordered an appetizer platter , and after eating maduros and sausage and etc when they came to pick up the appetizer tray, they left the dirty fork and knives on the paper table cloth to reuse during the entree like covid isn't a thing, like there aren't people literally next to us and coming and going even the manager without a mask on properly for my silverware to just be dirty laying on paper at the edge of the table. I'm confused as to why they don't just give fresh silverware considering how messy apps are. Also the drinks are such a disappointment, if your getting a cocktail don't even waste your time and money. It's literally spiked Tropicana juice or something artificial and didn't even mix well. Yay!!! We found a new place for takeout!! The food was delicious and had great portions. The ropa vieja was succulent and flavorful and the maduros were perfect. We also had the shrimp empanadas and loved them. Another dish we had was the Vaca Frita Cubano which was super tasty and plentiful. Visited this restaurant last night and had the greatest experience. Spirros (the manager) and staff were extremely friendly and caring. We sat outside, of course, well social distanced from other patrons and the waitstaff all had masks on. At the end of the night both our waiter and the manager went around to the tables to make sure we all had a safe way home if we had been drinking. We ordered from the Cuban for the first time today. We got the family platter, an extra Cuban, and a two desserts. There was so much food and everything was DELICIOUS. My food was cooked perfectly, definitely nice portions for the appetizers and entrees so I have to say that.....but the flavors just wasn't there for me. We ordered for a family of four and none of the food was a WOW. I have been to the other location in Garden City and I loved it. So when I seen that they were opening one in Bayside I couldn't wait. Maybe it's because of the whole quarantine thing and the way they have to do things right now...maybe it's was a one time thing but I really hope they get it together...Bell Blvd is a tough location and I would like to see them stick around. It was okay. I prefer my beans to be seasoned more and I thought the oxtails could've been more tender, but it wasn't a deal breaker. My BF ordered the skirt steak with black rice. Now, this dish was delish. I enjoyed his food more than mine. The black rice was very well seasoned. My daughter ordered the twice fried pork. She didn't love it, but she's also a picky eater. I don't eat pork so I didn't taste it. We ordered Calamari for the appetizer and found it to be okay. Again, just needed some seasoning. Second Date: Larger party: My mom, daughter, aunt, cousin, and I... Appetizers: Calamari, MUCH better than the prior visit. Fried lightly and seasoned well. Curried Mussels, very good! Main Dishes: I actually ordered the skirt steak this time. Very delicious!!! Daughter: salmon dish with pineapple salsa, she actually enjoyed this!!! Last night was our first and last night visiting the Cuban in Bayside. While the maitre de had numerous empty tables at which to seat us, he chose to fill the table directly in front of the stage. Thankfully, the waitress suggested we might be more comfortable sitting further away from the stage. When the entertainment started, we were thankful for the waitresses intervention given that the music was so loud we could not hear the waittress or each other. Unfortunately, the food did not improve the experience. The guacamole was overmashed and the salmon entrée was flavorless. The roasted chicken with cauliflower puree was creamy and rich, the best part of the meal. With countless restaurants options on Bell Blvd, we will not be returning. read more

This place is SO GOOD. The outdoor seating was great, really nice vibe with good music. Had the sancocho de marisco dinner but switched it out for saffron rice instead of white rice(seafood on a spread of delicious coconut milk sauce). I had to ask for salt on the side, it really took it to the next level. Also had the El traditional ceviche with white fish and a couple of alcoholic and virgin drinks, everything was really good. From the moment we arrived, the staff was rude. It took forever to have our drink order taken, the wait staff removed our drinks and plates before we were finished and so rapidly that it was impossible to stop them. A person in our party received the wrong entre and when she asked about it the staff argued that she in fact ordered the meal she was given. They finally replaced the meal but when we received the check, the original higher meal was still on the bill. It was 2 people's birthday in our party and they charged extra for the birthday dessert. It was embarrassing for the other members of our party that we had to argue about the bill. The kicker was that they automatically added 20% gratuity to the check. The food was good and the ambiance was nice but I will never return and neither will the members of our large party. There were many things that would have made up for the horrible service, and the restaurant didn't attempt anything other than to offer to replace our drinks after we were all ready to leave. I stumbled upon this restaurant maybe 3weeks ago. Had amazing service and great drinks. The bill was not expensive because they honored the happy hour(which is posted on their website). So I decided to come back with my girlfriend, this time around the staff wasn't as friendly, and refused to honor the happy hour. Saying it's honored at they other locations. Price on the high side for this area and it's pretty straight forward latin but since it's hard to find good latin food with a nice vibe I would come back. The outdoor space is pretty tiny and basically totally enclosed except for two sidewalk tables we sat at. Had the empanadas to start - dough flaky thin perfection and out of trio of chicken ground beef and cuban sandwich the cuban was out of this world. Mains grilled skirt and the lechon or pernil. Meats well seasoned and perfectly cooked.Both served with rice and black beans mixed up. Rice and beans tasty but a little under. Finished with flan. Drinks caparinha and mojito. Strong but for some reason lime/mint way old. They were very busy so they should have a high turn around to not have old stuff. In any case would try again especially the true cuban sandwich. I appreciated all the plants they added around the perimeter of the outdoor dining section because it provided privacy and just really boosted the ambience. Food is very good. However if you go for brunch please beware they stop serving alcohol for the unlimited brunch at 3 and it doesn't matter what time you sit down. We sat a little after 2, first drinks by 215. The table has an understanding 90 minute max but they refused to serve us more drinks after 3. This really should be made clear before you sit down. Prices are very reasonable for brunch. Unlimited has 2 different prices posted (one on the sign outside to draw you in and a higher number on the menu). Customer service is absolutely amazing , the decor is beautiful . You literally feel like you're on vacation - even through the pandemic they made it work and is still appealing to the eye. When it comes to the food I feel like I haven't had anything that was bad. Everything has a unique flavor and sauce . The food comes out fast , the drinks are great . Every dish I have ordered has been more than satisfactory. The music is perfect for this place . Kid friendly - the manager Spiro , is a gem.
