I'm pretty upset about this place. I went with my gay bestie and my girlfriend. We were expecting lots more gay men than lesbian women. This was absolutely the case; however, my girlfriend and I felt extremely discriminated against simply because we are women. It didn't matter that we belonged to the "gay community" and were spending money in the cover charge and drinks... the bar tenders wanted nothing to do with us when we tried to order drinks without our gay, male friend. Now I've been going to the cuff since 99. I know alot of people there. The security and staff are friendly but if they think you too tipsy they'll ask you to leave. Which is ok. But last time my partner and I went he had the flu and it was on my birthday they threw us out because he got sick not from drinking but from actually being sick. I was going to the cuff before I turned 21 well actually I was 19.. lol they have become more strict so it's not happening I wouldn't think anymore. The guys are bear types or pretty boys mixed with some redneck. There is attitude sometimes there but I've always loved this place the dance floor is fun the different levels and the bartenders I've known for years are still some of the best around. In my opinion, seattles best gay bar. Its a liitle much if your not acustom to the lifestyle or you shock easily. But if you dare, they offer the Meanest drinks ever & a great place to let loose on the dance floor. The place is huge, hence Complex and has four areas to party in. Rude, anti-Black establishment that I will never waste money in again. I was there last night during Pride and was consistently harassed by their security guard. He kept telling me that I couldn't dance on the outside platform/sitting area. I didn't realize that was a rule and apologized the first time and stopped, but then it was apparent that he was hyper focused on my group because he told no one else that and watched others do the same. Later in the night, I met a cute chick and we sat and talked and he came over again as we were talking to tell her she can't dance. WTF?! We were talking! I then went to complain to the bartender and ask for a manager and he RUDELY told me there's nothing he can do and to move! Can't make this stuff up. As I'm trying to tell him that I'm being harassed by their staff he started moving trash cans in front of me to place a barrier between us. Just gross people. Don't waste your time here! Super cheap cover, cheap strong drinks and super nice crowd. I had an amazing time, and I'm a straight married woman. The "ladies," were a blast to mingle and dance the night away with. This is definitely a bar I am going to go to again. My sisters best gay guy friend is turning 21 soon and this is the first place we are going to set him free at. Two bars in one. Upstairs is the pseudo leather bar where the crowd is older and they tend to drink beer and talk or play pool. Downstairs is the dance floor and patio. On the weekends it's Dance with their own tea dance late Sunday afternoon. The crowd is diverse and if a man one can find ones taste there. The patio is great for it is large and I love it in the warmer months. The insides are rather boring not much to comment but then just try cleaning a bar after it closes and you will see the true side of the place. As to bars in Seattle this is the place to go especially on the weekends but then this is not saying much for I find Portland, LA, San Diego, San Francisco, Vancouver BC to be much better. Oh wow that was the whole west coast. And go earlier before 11 for the lines can get long and tedious. Sorry Seattle but gay bars are not your forte. read more

I just got turned away from the Pride Day celebration because I ride a motorcycle. After waiting in a long line to pay to get in, I saw a sign that said "no backpacks or bags". I then watched them check 3 bags and let 3 people in (including a woman with a back pack!) I paid or my entry, and then they stopped me before giving me my wrist band. I had nothing in the backpack but long pants and a coat for driving home in the dark. They didn't agree to check MY bag they just told me I could leave it on the sidewalk if I wanted in, but made sure to let me know that they would not be responsible for it! I asked if they had a coat check as they always did in the past. They didn't (I had planned to check my bag and my helmet). I then got to wait in the heat while they figured out how to refund my entry fee. Sadly, being a customer for decades means nothing to them. No problem. I'm not their customer any more. Time to find a new place to meet my friends. read more

The cuff is a great place to go especially on Saturday nights. They often have world class DJs on the weekend. Weekdays are a little thinner but sometimes still fun. Occasionally in the summer Sunday's can be a big hit. read more

I have my favorites, my friends have their favorites but the cuff has historically been the consistent cross over in which all friends can come together and find something they like. Horrible transphobic experience, don't bother coming here if you're trans or non-binary. My partner was in the process of updating their name/gender on their ID and had the old ID plus the paperwork explaining that the new ID was in the mail and the staff would not let us in. We had already used the same ID to get into several bars this week and had no problems. Even after explaining the situation to the multiple staff members they brought over to look at the paperwork, they didn't want to let them in and embarrassed my partner in front of everyone else in line. The staff changed their story from needing us to have the name change court-order paper on hand (which we didn't need anywhere else) to needing to wait until the new ID comes in the mail before coming to the bar. My partner's date of birth on the old ID which wasn't even expired yet, and all the paperwork that the Washington DOL said we needed to use for ID verification. The staff member I was speaking to also continued to misgender my partner multiple times even after I corrected them. Stop blaming your blatant transphobia on the state liquor board and grow the fuck up.Total bullshit and such a disappointing experience, especially since the cuff is supposed to be a gay/kinky club. You would expect them be more understanding. Won't be coming here again. read more

Truly a Gay MENS bar. Not a Fag Hags group. Good music with different DJ's most Saturday and Friday nights. DJS from local and all over. Great light show in the back for dancing and porn for the older bear types up front. Young to Old in the back dancing with a nice patio filled with all types. Not a dressy place, if anything a dress down place. GAY Owned, and operated unlike some other Seattle "Gay" bars. The Cuff is Seattles truly ONLY GAY DANCE BAR. Neighbours is mostly str8 women with the occasional gay guy anymore. RPlace is 50/50 most nights, and The cuff is 98% gay with a line stretching around the corner on a busy Saturday night. i love the fact that patrons here are all about having a good time. i came with a small group of friends and had the biggest diet redbull + vodka cocktail i've ever seen, and i'm pretty sure if i'd finished it my liver would have shriveled up and died right then and there. the drinks are huge, reasonably priced, and decently strong. the bartenders are sweet and most of the people there were all laid back. the only thing that's a slight downer to me is the soundtrack (a bit TOO technopop for my taste). lastly, this place has the biggest disco ball i've ever seen in a small club, glorious. read more

Don't be fooled by the unwelcoming exterior or over-the-hill reputation, this place is a blast! If you're gay (and we know you are) then just get in here, it may cater to the bear/leather crowd, but it really has something for everybody. Darts, dancing, very friendly staff, and plenty of hot guys to suit any taste. And they let you stay until 3 on the weekends, which is more than I can say for most of the bars in this town. My night doesn't end at last call, and neither should yours. The cuff does loose points for the background gay porn, however. Write me off as a prude, but it can be difficult to carry on a conversation with a distraction like seeing a guy getting cornholed on the big screen right in front of you. read more

I had a lot of fun when I went to The Cuff because as an out-of-towner and a resident of San Francisco, it's not often you find such a big (dance) club that serves the leather/bear scene. For example, the San Francisco Eagle has a no-dance-music policy for its DJs (you know, because I guess masculinity and dick size are directly proportionate to the music you listen to here, but I digress). I was a little apprehensive about The Cuff at first because it was hosting a "White Party" and I feared being overcharged at the door and a bunch of tweakers in Calvin Klein ribbed tank tops. Fortunately cover was only $5, and the crowd was diverse and tastefully, casually outfitted. Everyone was friendly enough and surprisingly free of the attitude which is standard at most gays bars. As a newcomer, this has quickly become my favorite gay bar in Seattle. Friendly staff and patrons and the drinks that are guaranteed to wipe any inhibitions far, far away (read strong). For those not into the more bear-esque aspects, just proceed past the gauntlet of grrrrr to the dancefloor down the stairs and get your drink on. Any trepidation will melt away magically and you'll find most everyone is approachable. Other places can be a bit on the frosty side but I've found The Cuff to be a good place to just hang out and meet new people. read more

Lived in Settle for some 20 years - and - these days it IS the Cuff. Very mixed crowd, a big plus. Little stand and pose, good help, over poured drinks, always score, just say hi and buy them a drink, big gang of smokers outside - I suspect a pack of cigs would get you laid without going into the bar .... Washington has strict no smoking in bar laws - leather in Seattle is not related to San Fran - do hear the leather mommas do beat each other up - not the guys. Not really dirty just well worn, which makes it feel less pretentious. Go late. All the guys I have met there love to KISS ... go figure ... and tongue sucking is one of my best features, and a mouth that tastes like "wild plums" ... so they say. read more
