They also carry some gummy and chocolate varieties, some spices, some boxed coffee, some Middle Eastern pastries. Only some things were labeled with either what it was or the price of it, so that was a little disorienting. I was surprised to find a cafe and gelato bar inside. The gelato flavors were incredible. I settled on popcorn caramel and baklava in a waffle bowl. An employee said that everything was made in-house. The price was standard considering that all was made there. The service was weird. I kept getting served after people who'd gotten there after me. My ice cream scoops were significantly smaller than my boyfriend's. Returning isn't high on my list of priorities, but I'm glad I tried them.

This unassuming spot in a strip mall was gorgeous inside. And it serves coffee, pastries, ice cream plus y'know candy. AND they roast their own nuts, spices and I guess coffee beans. There were definitely folks hanging out and enjoying a Turkish style coffee... I guess either the caffeine doesn't hit them the way it does me or they had no plans to sleep. The candy isn't labeled 100% correctly but you kind of know that gummy worms are not gummy strawberries. I tried an assortment bag of gummies and some of chocolates and the price was by the pound. Re got some freshly roasted unsalted cashews and they were delicious! Parking is easy in the strip mall lot. And as you step in you definitely leave Louisiana and step into another country.

The Vintage - New Orleans, LA…read more The Vintage on Magazine Street was our very first food stop in New Orleans, and it turned out to be a great way for my wife and me to start our trip. From the moment we walked in, I really liked the atmosphere. The place has a cool, relaxed New Orleans vibe with a little bit of an upscale café feel without being overly fancy. It's the kind of spot where you can come in, sit down, enjoy some good food and drinks, and just take your time. Of course, we couldn't come to New Orleans and not start things off with beignets! We decided to go with the Fancy Beignet Flight, which gave us a chance to try several different flavors. We got the raspberry, s'mores, and Chantilly. They came out looking almost too good to eat, covered in powdered sugar with all the different fillings and toppings. Almost... because we definitely ate them! They were warm, sweet, messy in the best possible way, and a fun introduction to our New Orleans food adventure. For my meal, I ordered the Italian Panini with the truffle Parmesan fries. The sandwich was packed with meat, cheese, and flavor. Looking at that cross-section, they definitely weren't being stingy with the fillings! The bread was toasted nicely, and everything worked well together. The truffle fries were another highlight. They had plenty of seasoning and Parmesan and paired perfectly with the sandwich. I also grabbed a small iced mocha, which went really well with the food and especially the beignets. One thing I really enjoyed about The Vintage was the atmosphere. The interior has a lot of character, from the marble tables and vintage-style flooring to the bar and pastry display. It feels like a place that belongs on Magazine Street. It was comfortable enough that we didn't feel rushed and could just enjoy being in New Orleans together. The service was good during our visit, and everything came together for a really enjoyable first meal in the city. Our bill came to around $48 after tax and tip for the two of us, and considering we had a sandwich, upgraded fries, drinks, and the beignet flight, I thought it was a good experience for the money. Most importantly, this place gave my wife and me a great start to our New Orleans trip. When your first stop includes a loaded Italian panini, truffle Parmesan fries, iced coffee, and a whole flight of beignets, you know the trip is starting off right! Definitely a place I would visit again. Great food, great atmosphere, and a great first taste of New Orleans. 5 stars from us!

Still a New Orleans Gem - Visitor since 2018!…read more I'm updating my review as of April 2026 because it's important for visitors to know that The Vintage has absolutely "still got it." My last review was in 2020, and I'm happy to report that the quality and atmosphere remain top notch. Whether you are looking for a morning pick up or an evening wind-down, this spot covers all the bases. Their beignets and coffee are a classic must have, and I can personally vouch for their Americano. It is consistently well made and delicious. They also have a great selection of beer and cocktails if you're looking for something a bit stronger. What really sets this place apart, though, is the hospitality. We have always had great interactions with the staff, but a special shout out goes to Jimmy, whom we met this past week. He was incredibly kind and hospitable, truly making us feel right at home. Jimmy if you are reading this, THANK YOU!! If you want a spot that feels authentic, welcoming, and consistently excellent, put The Vintage at the top of your list!

Our first day back out there, fortunately, the line wasn't too long so I got some plain beignets, a crab beignet and some sweet potato cookies. First thing I ate was the crab beignet. WOW! I'm not the biggest fan of crab but that thing with that sauce...!! Lived up to the hype. I love candied yams and sweet potato pie so I had to try those cookies. Also amazing! Huge. Texture was perfect. Dang!! Now, the beignets. Did I like them more than Cafe Du Monde's? Hands down! Si! Oui! Nai! YES!!!!!!!!!! From the first bite! Dang!!! I still have to try Cafe Beignet's beignets. But Loretta's is gonna be a tough act to follow. Of all the things I ate out there (Dooky Chase & Morrow's. We were only there for the weekend), Loretta's was the thing I can't wait to get back to! I will never come out there and not go to Loretta's. Will someday make a trip to the location at North Rampart Street. And the service...! The young man who took our order was so nice. There was a bit of a wait (just a few minutes. Totally worth it!) but there's seating right across from Loretta's stand. My next visit, I'm bringing some zip lock bags and/or Tupperware cos I'm bringing some Loretta's back home with me. Dang!

We ended up at the Metairie location, which ended up being very convenient since there is substantial parking right out front, which is rare in N.O. It's in a modern shopping center but still has that quaint feel of the original location. The staff immediately greeted us when we came through the door and were very attentive and knowledgeable. We were there just before the after school rush and timed everything perfectly. I was planning to get a different flavor this time, but I ended up with my old standby, Red Velvet. This stuff is so good it's illegal in 49 states. It's subtle and perfectly understated by the chunks of cake mixed throughout. It's what keeps me coming back. My wife got a scoop each of the Peanut Butter Cup and the Cookie Monster. Both were absolutely delicious, as I can personally attest since I stole a bite of both. All in all, I can't wait to go back. It was every bit as good as I remembered. Do yourself a favor and check them out.
