You can purchase products they carry but don't have in stock, and then arrange a time to pick it up later once they've been able to order and receive the product at the store, which usually only takes about a week or maybe two. The Japanese hair care technologies offered here are awesome and I'm so glad they're here near Irvine! The prices are also pretty reasonable relative to hair salons these days. They speak English but Japanese is their native language, so if you speak or want to learn Japanese, this is your place! The vibe is super relaxed yet meticulously clean ... and Anna's hair cutting precision is spectacular!! She responds to text messages usually within a day unless it's on an off day like the weekend maybe or Monday. But I love the dedication to customer service and friendly care! The salon is located near the beach, so parking can be limited, but Tracy texted me ahead of time with parking instructions and even saved me a spot right in front of the salon. The salon itself is clean and welcoming. They also sell handmade jewelry created by one of the staff members, and there was even a tarot reader set up outside, which added to the fun and unique vibe. I came in feeling pretty self-conscious about my hair. My grays were becoming more noticeable, my color had grown out, and my hair was looking dry and tired. Tracy immediately put me at ease. She asked what I wanted, took one look at my hair, and confidently reassured me that she would blend my grays and give me a natural result. At that point, I trusted her completely and let her do her thing. One thing I wasn't expecting was how amazing the shampoo experience would be. Her scalp massage felt incredible and was honestly one of the best parts of the appointment. Since Luna's is also a head spa, it makes sense that they pay extra attention to the scalp experience. It was so relaxing that I found myself wishing it would last longer. Tracy is personable, confident, and gives off total boss woman energy. You can tell she knows exactly what she's doing. After coloring my hair, she even went the extra mile and offered me a complimentary trim just to make it perfect. When she finished, she styled my hair both straight and curled so I could really see the dimension and color. The result exceeded my expectations. My grays completely disappeared into the color, and the balayage looks soft, natural, and beautifully blended. My hair looks healthier, shinier, and so much more refreshed. I left feeling like a new person and could not stop looking at my hair. If you're looking for someone who specializes in color and balayage, Tracy is your girl. This was my first time going to him for a hair change but since he had an established relationship with my family I thought he would be a trustworthy pick. I had been growing out my hair for two years, and I did a big chop last summer so I could have virgin hair and a clean, fresh slate for this color transformation. I went in wanting to become blonde and showed Leonard a specific photo as a color reference. I also explained that I was open to going a little darker blonde, but I did not want a traditional highlight look with a lot of my brown hair left untouched. I had specifically told him that this was something I had done before and didn't like because it pulled very ginger on me. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened. My hair ended up looking very warm and ginger, with a lot of my natural brown left untouched. It was very clear that my hair did not look blonde. I paid over 400 dollars. When I reached out, the explanation changed from him not remembering seeing the reference photo to him saying that he did remember it and that achieving that much blonde would have required bleaching my whole head. He said he had decided not to do that and that a heavier weave could add more blonde, although it still wouldn't look like the reference photo. My frustration is not that my hair couldn't look exactly like the reference photo in one appointment. If I had been clearly told beforehand that the look I wanted wasn't realistically possible with the service we were doing, I could have made a different decision. My issue is that I specifically communicated what I wanted and what I didn't want, and I ended up with the exact type of result I had told him I was trying to avoid. I was already back in LA, so going back would have required a significant amount of driving. I got another consultation locally and was quoted approximately $275 to correct the color. I reached out to Leonard, explained the situation and asked if he would refund that amount since I would now have to pay another salon to fix it. He offered to add more blonde at no charge, but I no longer felt comfortable having him make another major change to my hair. I even followed up the next day after another local consultation confirmed that correcting it would cost around $275. I never received a response. I do want to be fair and say that I really loved the haircut. My disappointment is specifically with the color and, even more so, with how the situation was handled afterward. After years of my family being loyal customers, being ignored when I reached out about a service I was unhappy with was incredibly disappointing. I left feeling like I had paid for a color I didn't want and was then left to pay another $275 to fix it. I expected much better communication and customer service from someone my family has trusted for years.
