Got my second fade cut here today. First was by a friend going through barber school. He did alright but i felt it needed some cleanup. Walked in here without an appointment on a Saturday. The front desk receptionist wasn't at the desk. A hairstylist checked in with me and got me setup with a barber. Waited maybe 3 minutes and was seated. Quick chat and we were off and running. We discussed options which ended up being very collaborative. I like it when the stylist will provide some ideas of what might look good. Great conversation and really loved the final results. Asked whether i wanted some product to finish it off. That made the cut look even better. read more

Been coming to Triko Salon since 2016! Miko has been cutting and coloring my hair since then :) I appreciate his honesty when I first booked him for consultation back in 2016. He told me that my hair was damaged (which it was) from dying my hair too frequently. He told me that first he wants to get my hair healthy before going lighter again. He kept his promise and let me go blonde! Although recently I went back to more dark since I'm feeling the darker era now. Haha Miko is very knowledgeable and knows what he is doing. My hair has never been this healthy and always received compliments on my hair when I had balayage. I've been getting my hair cut (and occasionally colored) by Miko for at least 6 years now. I am blessed to have a full head of hair so I try to see him quarterly. My hair always gets weighed down after growing out and Miko always puts the bounce back into my layers and breathes life back into my hair. I love getting the balayage but it's just way too high maintenance when I have a busy schedule. Miko's a great conversationalist and a caring guy. MIKO at this salon is the most rude, condescending hairdresser I've ever met in my life. I came in via referral and he proceeds to tell me that my friend who referred me didn't show up for her appointment that day. I find that in very poor taste and violation of client confidence. And downright unprofessional and rude. I did loop back with her on this and she said she did and she has been seeing him (I forgot the number of years however it is quite a few) and that's never happened before. Right when Miko's bitchy ass and poor attitude touches my hair he proceeds to go off telling me I have extensions and why didn't I tell him. He proceeds to tell me for the first time that he doesn't do extensions. Tbh I would never not mention it had I known, I normally don't go to such a grade of hairdresser who doesn't. I cannot remember when that's ever happened to me if ever. I was there for roots lol. This person, Miko, was a referral. I never talked to him in person or on the phone once, I have posted our entire thread text EVER from beginning to end for proof of our complete conversation before my appt. You can see what questions he asked. I looked at him and asked him why doesn't he ask his clients that? He lied and said he did ask me and I only told him I had "thick hair" and that *I* never mentioned extensions. Honestly this guy was so demeaning I let him know he was the rudest most condescended hairdresser I ever met in my life. He looked at me and said "I didn't even say anything". It's unfortunate I have to give this place 1 star because of him because Vincent here is awesome. Vincent is such a nice person. He does great color, roots. Highlights and hair. Vinny is the best hair stylist and has always kept an exceptionally clean salon- I've seen him every 3 weeks for over 3 years. Since the pandemic Triko now has individual dividers between each salon station and each tool is sanitized between use. As someone who was concerned about this pandemic for my family, I felt very much at ease by the environment, and protocol at Triko salon. She is the sweetest person I have every met and obviously the most patient, because I definitely could not have done that. Raise your hand if you've been going to dinky salons just to save a couple bucks on perhaps the worst cut of your life. Yes...we've all been down that road before settling on something better. I've been salon hopping in Westminster/Garden Grove area and I just couldn't find someone that gave me the whole package. They could never get my bangs right! So, I stumbled upon Triko and I think I've found the one. Nestled in a business center off the 73, it's an upbeat salon that's super cute, small and intimate and staff are pretty friendly. The patrons are around 30+, so my baby face was a bit out of place. My stylist Lisa was super welcoming and upbeat, which was great since it was a last minute appointment, but she thought I was still in school -__- Other than that, I thought Lisa did a fantastic job. I had wanted a relatively drastic change by cutting 5-6 inches off. With a few examples and the go ahead to do whatever you want with me, Lisa got straight to work. My hair is really fine so I feared layers would thin out my hair, but Lisa gave it volume which I thought could never happen. The final touch was tips on how to style my hair. Mary G., kindly, wrote to me and stated that she knew the stylist that I spoke of and gave me the details of the family emergency, which is legitimate. My entire issue is that even if that was the case, she could have had someone cancel on me originally (not re-book me) and found another stylist and another appointment. I understand this may be a tough time in the stylist's life, but the way I was handled was still extremely inappropriate. I could have understood if she was in the unique position of having no staff or other stylists working for her. but the receptionist and other stylists at the salon could and should have stepped in and helped. With that I am sincerly sorry and have deep compassion for her situation, it doesn't excuse horrible treatment by the staff. The fact that another yelper had to tell me the situation and seems more attentive to my issues with the salon is just par for the course. read more

I had my hair done by Vincent. He is super super sweet, very patient and will listen to what you want. Very easy to talk to and has such a calm demeanor about him. Color: I have long dark hair that I've been highlighting & dyeing for the past few years. I asked Vincent to do an all over color because I was tired of my highlights. I was really really hoping he would know what he's doing because I've never had success with my hair coming out evenly with other stylists (I've gotten hot roots more than a few times!). Well, guess what the color came out exactly as we had discussed, my hair looked healthy and (gasp), completely even! I think I will never trust anyone to color my hair again. Cut: Although I loved my color, I didn't like my cut much. I asked for my long layers to be freshened and was surprised to end up with very choppy, blunt layers that didn't blend well. I'm used to another stylist using razors to layer so I wasn't feeling the blunt, heavy layers that Vincent gave me. I ended up with that look where my hair looks short and like a bob in front but long in the back. I thought the cut was pretty mediocre for $60 and would probably not go back for a haircut with Vincent. Another thing I didn't like was that as I was waiting for my color to process, Vincent had another client booked and worked on them while I sat and waited. Maybe other people are ok with this, but when I go to a nice salon I don't appreciate the whole double booking thing. All in all, I had an ok experience. I'm disappointed because I really liked Vincent and would have definitely gone back if I had liked my cut better. read more

I've had some of the best hair stylists around the world use their shears on my hair and I will tell you that I have always found my way back to Vincent. I don't think I can ever live without him. He is, in essence, a necessity in my life and I'll probably have to hunt him down stalker status if he ever moves or disappears. It doesn't take many words for me to tell him exactly what I want and then he'll tell me what I need. All the hairstylists here are on point and love what they do, even the receptionist greets you with a huge smile, everytime! My Mom and aunt have been getting their haircut by Miko for years now and they always rave about how amazing he is and its true, every time they come home from an appointment with him they are always rocking a new cutting edge style and look beyond words. After more years of the same stylist than I can even count, I'd stopped getting the compliments on my hairstyle that I had received all of my life. My husband (who I thought pretty much didn't pay attention to much of anything I did to my hair) urged me one day to go see Jaime Hindman at Triko Salon. He had seen her work with some wedding clients and thought she was terrific. Once I got over the "OMG, he really has been paying attention and doesn't like it" combined with the "oh yeah, where are those usual compliments?", I gave Jaime a call. She is FABULOUS. My first appointment was for a keratin smoothing treatment. She kindly made a few suggestions about potential changes to my haircut, but didn't push me. By the time she was done with the smoothing treatment, I made an appointment for a haircut a week later. I have been receiving compliments again about my hair ever since (and it's been about a year since I've been going to her!) Jaime Hindman is super talented and a great woman. A colleague went in to see her and she looks 10 years younger with her new color and cut. She has cut my daughter's hair and the haircut is still holding up months after the appointment! LOVE. Vincent, one of the owners, cuts my hair here. I've always had long hair but when I decided to chop it off a la the Posh bob, Vincent made the cut (pun intended). I love that the salon is posh and doesn't have the typical Newport/OC/wannabe vibe going. Everyone here is super friendly and Vincent is the best! I can go at least 4 months without getting a cut inbetween. He'll ask you what you normally do with your hair on a day to day basis and keeps in mind how your hair will grow out. It can only mean one thing when you get three compliments in one week about your hair...perhaps that Vincent is a really good stylist! I was searching around Yelp for a new hair salon. Nothing against the last place I went to, but I thought I could find something cheaper. It was last minute, but I was able to schedule an appointment for Saturday afternoon. I called on the Friday right before, and was pleasantly surprised that they had room for me. Since I was not familiar with the salon, I did not request any specific stylist, but I am soooo happy that it ended up being Vincent. I told him, that I wanted to keep the length in my hair, but other than that, I trusted his professional opinion to do whatever he wanted with my hair. The true test for me, is how well my hair looks the days following the cut. Of course the day of, my hair always looks picture perfect, but a good hair cut is one that I can style myself, and still have that picture perfect look. Vincent kept my mid-back length, thinned out the fullness, and blended the layers. On the following days when I curled my hair, I got so many compliments. The only reason, I didn't give Triko 5 stars, was that it was just as expensive as my previous salon. Definitely come here if you want a quality cut, but know you get what you pay for. read more

Why are hair appointments so nerve racking. They can send you into a deep depression if done wrong.. and i've had plenty of bad cuts... But, that is never the case with Emily. Whenever I go visit my mom in CA, i go to the awesomeist hairdresser Emily. She is only working Thurs-Sat., so plan accordingly. My mom also goes to her and has been for years. While she was on maternity leave Sean colored my hair and did an AMAZING job, so i recommend him too. I always look forward to coming to CA to visit my mom and to visit Emily. I even moved to Paris for two years and whenever I would come back on my business trips, seeing Vincent was a first stop as soon as I got off the plane! Once again Yelp came through with a 5-star place for me. I needed a haircut badly for my super long hair, but I didn't want a stylist that would chop it off or give me layers I needed to deal with before work in the morning. I called the salon and told the receptionist that I wanted the stylist that loved long hair the most (because stylists who love long hair won't chop it off on a whim). She made me an appointment with Cheree (one of the owners). Cheree was PERFECT. My hair looks healthy and beautiful...and best of all she only took an inch of here or there as needed and evened out my grown-out layers. She really listened to what I wanted and totally delivered. The salon is easy to find if you are coming in from Birch. Cheree was kind enough to swap out my suit jacket and purse for a wrap to protect my clothing while she washed my hair (thoroughly!) and spent her time making sure my hair was even and clean. She was super friendly, without making me feel like I had to keep up a running conversation the whole time. I found myself a new hair salon. Especially since for my waist-length hair it only cost $75! Wohoo! read more
