The monthly specials all looked delicious, I'm excited to come back seasonally and see what they come up with! In addition to coffee drinks and standard beverages, they have cocktails. Typical diner. Stopped in at 11:00 on a Tuesday- busy but no wait. The restaurant is clean and the waitress was friendly. Typical menu with a rotating pancake of the month (similar to the Burger of the Month at the ownership groups other venture, Bull and Bear). They also have a bar as is the case in most new breakfast/brunch spots. I had a fretta and my partner a simple two eggs and bacon meal. My fretta was fine, nothing special. Expensive at 17.00 for a relatively small plate compared to local competition. My partner enjoyed theirs- said the bacon was not good though. Food came out super fast. We were greeted immediate at the hostess stand. Everyone all around was very friendly and made it appoint to say hi and interact in some way. Our server Juliette was at our table within 30 seconds of us sitting to ask if we wanted some drinks. She was very friendly and on top of things for our entire visit. My mom got The Double. 2 eggs, bacon, home fries, and a pancake. Her eggs were cooked over medium to perfection and her bacon was very crispy without being burnt. The pancake had a crisp edge and the syrup/butter sauce was the best syrup I've ever had. I got the half Frittata (minus sausauge) with Italian toast. It was smaller than other half frittatas I've gotten but still way more food than I can eat. It was good but I was a little food envious over my mom's pancake. Lol. We saw the dessert case on the way in so we knew we had to take some stuff home to try. Carrot Cake. This was the absolute best carrot cake I've ever had. Not overloaded on spices and the frosting wasn't over sweet. The cake itself had a nice soft texture with a crunch from the nuts. Chocolate Cake. Very good. Rich and decadent. My family decided to try the new daily diner out for Father's Day. We went at 8am and was told about a 45min wait but ended up being only 30min (we thought this was great because we could tell they might not be fully staffed and last year we went to the daily diner out in manlius and that was a 90 min wait). Love that they have a bright and colorful theme, just puts you in a good mood. The Daily Diner has a large menu which makes it hard for me to decide but I went with the Mexicali omelette and honestly it was okay but not great. It tasted great but there just wasn't much in it and I tend to expect a loaded omelette. My favorite part is the pancake, it's the best honestly because it has a sweet fluffy taste with amazing syrup. Most pancakes are bland and thin when I try them at other places. They are super accommodating and let my dad split his 2 pancakes to 1 pancake and toast for his combo. Overall my family enjoyed their meals too and it's just a fun place to have breakfast. Penny our server was great and always checking on us. We all got coffee and there someone coming around every 10 min which was great because we got our fill. My dining companion and I met my Syracuse cousins at The Daily Diner on our way home from a weekend trip. Apparently, this is the new outpost of The Daily Diner in Manlius, and it's housed in an old Ponderosa restaurant. We liked the retro diner vibe. When we arrived a little after 11:30 AM on Sunday there was a wait-list, but it moved quickly. Our server was pleasant, although it took a little longer than expected to receive our meals. My cousins opted to share a short stack of pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs and bacon. One cousin enjoyed what she said tasted like freshly squeezed orange juice, but the other found her coffee undrinkable. She had asked for cream but milk and those little cups of International Delight creamer were all that were offered. Neither found the bacon crispy enough, even after it had been sent back to the kitchen once. The pancakes were enormous! One cousin asked for butter, but was told that the syrup accompanying the pancakes was actually half syrup and half butter. My companion ordered the single smash burger, which comes with American cheese and pickles, along with a generous side of fries. She thought it was good. I ordered the hot turkey sandwich with gravy and fries, which I enjoyed, although I thought they went a little heavy with the salt and pepper on the fries. The turkey wasn't fresh roasted turkey but thinly sliced luncheon meat, which made the sandwich easy to cut and tasted just fine. I asked for cranberry sauce to go with, but unfortunately that wasn't offered. We didn't have dessert but cupcakes and pastry are offered, along with some pretty awesome looking milkshakes. I have never been to the Manlius location but when I saw the North Syracuse location open up close by to my home I had to stop in after hearing such great things. They did not disappoint. Everyone working was really pleasant and friendly. The coffee came promptly and fresh. The servers made sure the coffee never stopped flowing. I sat at the counter and even chatted with one of the servers and had a nice breakfast. I didn't have to wait long for my food and everything I had was quite tasty. I find the food to be a bit pricier than your average diner, but this isn't your average diner and I think the portions and service more than compensate for the slightly higher pricing. I don't know what kind of syrup they use but it tastes different to me and is absolutely delicious. The server gave me an extra to take home with my food, so appreciated. The place is pretty spacious but fills up quickly as it is so popular. There are elevated booths, tables, and then counter seats. After a very early doctors appointment and in between the next appointment (dentist) we wanted to try this for a while so opportunity presented itself and it did not disappoint! Shaun our server was incredibly friendly and engaging and kept the delicious local Paul De Lima coffees flowing. I ordered the salmon omelet with crème fraiche and fried capers with a side of sour dough toast. Omelette was light, not thick and heavy, and perfect. My husband ordered the Eggs and Italian sausage with a side pancake. I am not a pancake fan but THIS converted me! Crispy outside fluffy inside served with a maple syrup butter!! Oh my yes! My friend arrived first and gave me a heads up that there was already a 45-minute wait, but luckily we were able to snag two spots at the counter. I ordered a sunrise mimosa which was good but lacking the color gradient red, orange , and yellow, mimicking sunrise. Which was disappointing the specialty mimosas are not part of the BOGO offer, in retrospect I would have went with the original. At the recommendation of server I went with Monte Cristo French toast. I'm a Monte Cristo girl whenever I see that on a menu, few establishments offer the dish and I love the spin of making with French toast and confectionery sugar is classic topping. It was enormous with heaping pile of ham, turkey and cheese layers in thick slices of French toast, served with maple syrup. I love it with a raspberry dipping sauce but this was very good. We shared home fries that were well seasoned and delish potato yum! My daughter ordered breakfast sandwich to order bagel with egg, and choice of cheese. That was enormous and tasty as well. Without question the best service I've seen in any restaurant in 10 years. The entire wait staff pays attention to all of the customers, not just their individual tables. The result? We love the food & on our 2nd visit there we just want to make a few important suggestions. First off I ordered an omelet with home fries. The home fries were very tasty BUT unfortunately the bottoms were burned BLACK. I ate what I could as I was very hungry but I did mention & showed the server. Also while eating your staff was drying utensils & tossing them in a basket & the noise I must say was very very annoying so say the least as we were sitting not too far from it. To me it was noise pollution. I strongly suggest your staff take that task into the kitchen where that loud clattering of utensils can't be heard. Let me start by saying most of the staff we met were really nice, and the vibe of the place was bright and welcoming. That being said, my experience overall wasn't the best. I was really excited to check out the new North Syracuse location everyone's been talking about, but now I'm not sure if I'll be back. We didn't have to wait long on an early Sunday afternoon, which was great, but once we sat down, it was super hot inside. I got a regular chocolate shake that was really tasty, but my main dish was kind of a letdown. I ordered the breakfast tater tachos, only to find out they were out of tater tots, so I swapped them for fries. I also asked for no pico, but that was ignored, and our server had to double back and ask us for our drink orders again. It wasn't a huge deal, but it did feel a little disorganized as she even asked the table behind us about their drinks too. Maybe she was just having a rough day, because she was still polite. When the food came out, my "avocado" was literally one slice, and there was an obscene amount of pico. The person I was with got the All-American French Toast, and while she liked the toast itself, the toppings were super minimal, like four slices of strawberry, a few blueberries, and maybe five crushed pistachios. For the price, it just felt a little skimpy. I have been a foodie critic for a while but specifically a pancake critic. For over a decade only one place ever got my Michelin level rating for pancakes and held that spot for a long time, forever. I went to the North Syracuse location on a weekday morning. There was nobody in the parking lot when I arrived, and as I approached the door someone was unlocking it (about 3-5 minutes after the official opening time). I opened the door, and stood near the host stand, obviously there were no other customers there yet. I saw 2 staff members, one behind the bar, one sitting at the bar, chatting with each other, and they took their time finishing their conversation before greeting me. They didn't even say hello when I entered then finish speaking and walk over. It must have been some good gossip, because they acted like they didn't even see me even though I swear I made eye contact. They both looked and acted as if this was the tail end of their 10 hour shift, when it was quite the opposite. I eventually was seated and the waitress was nice after she greeted me. I just don't really see the point of paying so much for a basic breakfast cooked in a mediocre fashion, especially when the service isn't great. The space itself also isn't the best for this style of restaurant. By the time I left there were 1 or 2 other parties seated on the other side of the dining room. I could hear every word of their conversations, because there are not enough soft surfaces and no attention was paid to practicality and acoustics during the design process. It's a new trendy place to take pictures or have brunch with friends, but I'd rather eat somewhere with good decently priced food and a staff who looks like they want to be there at least a little. read more
