Back in the Irish Hills for the summer. Deck down under is our go to restaurant. Great selection at reasonable prices. Food has never disappointed. It's not dining in New York City but for this area very diverse menu and great service. They have an excellent beer selection for the area. Wine selection is more limited. For a small community and easy to miss driving on US 12, this place is a great stop! The food is wonderful, the drinks are great and the atmosphere is local but fun! Happy hours has some good prices on appetizers and drinks. A great little gem in a small community. read more

The service was great, our table was ready when we arrived. We were quickly seated for our 6pm dinner reservation and our waitress promptly took our drink and food order. Drinks and appetizers were fabulous and we would get the beer cheese and seafood fondue again. Then our food came. Everything we ordered was over cooked, fried to long or was flavorless. It was very disappointing, especially for the price of the meals. We won't be headed back anytime soon for a meal. read more

I saw an excellent review for the pan seared shrimp and so I ordered them. The shrimp were a lot smaller than expected and dripping in grease. I patted the grease off with several napkins, but still could not eat them . I do not recommend this dish. read more

Great atmosphere. Fabulous food and entertainment. We unfortunately did not realize they closed at 10 pm on Friday nights..So sitting having after dinner conversation and the manager (come to find out) yells across the "joint".."close in 5 minutes. .at this point we realize that us and 2 lady's at the bar are the only ones left in the "joint"..It was rude at best..When I asked for manager. .was informed she was ..asked for owner and was ignored. .explained my disappointment in the rudeness and received a .."I get it" No apologies. .so definitely will not be a repeat customer and would dare say with management like that..well, expect a different name by next summer read more

I LOVED my food. I had the house salad with tuna (rare) and the wasabi aioli. Probably one of my favorite salads I've ever had. The decor is really nice and super cute. The only reason it's 4 instead of 5 stars is because, my family wasn't very impressed by their meals. But definitely recommend the salad I got. Delicious. And their fries are yummy, too! read more

Pizza and service was good (3 stars) and Ruben sandwich was better than average. But I'm sorry to say the music Friday night (8/18/17)was unbearable! Don't know who the guitar player/singer was but the screech and squeal from his indistinguishable vocals and guitar were very bad. I'm not a music critic but I know when I hear bad guitar playing and out-of-tune vocals. Ruined the dinner. My three friends sharing the meal strongly agreed. Nothing personal against the poor musician but please take some lessons and honest feed-back. If not, turn the volume down please to we can enjoy the meal! read more

This place looks like it's from down under on the outside..but this place is far from bein down under. Saturday night is poppin. Live band. Full bar. Huge menu. We had about a 45 minute wait, but it was worth it. The staff was so friendly and on top of their A game. They were packed tonight and short staffed, but our waitress Kassie never once made us aware of that. That says so much about a waitress. She was smiling, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu. Very patient as well. My boyfriend got the beer battered cod and said it was really good. I got the fish tacos with the blackened grouper and about went to heaven. They were amazing!!!!! I advise anyone to get these menu items. Along with the calamari. So so good. Best part, dessert round comes with an option of caramelized bacon!!!! Must try on their brownie dessert. I will be back for sure and requesting Kassie just because she gave such great customer service. The staff all around tops all the other places I've been around this area in service. I've been here twice and haven't been thrilled -- find the food very average. The place was packed for a Weds. nite so maybe I'm just weird. Had the pile of perch and it was good. The fries were soggy and dark colored. The coleslaw is a sweet vinegary type, not my favorite. I certainly saw nothing that looked or tasted like a chef prepared it. Again, very average. We're going to give it one more try but I wonder if they're going downhill. It's casual and friendly with great service. read more

Had always loved coming here. Last time just ok. Ordered bread to start. It was cold. Have always loved tropical nachos. Usually salsa flavorful, and I thought Pineapple was grilled. Ordered it and it was awful. First off was cold. Sent it back and came back warm, not hot. It was bland. Absolutely nothing special about it. They also got order wrong with my wife's meal . I understand that happens, but with a poor meal it just added to bad experience. We may try it again, but not anytime soon. read more

This restaurant is awesome, the menu is more extensive than anywhere else I've eaten. The chef serves some fantastic, unique, high quality meals that I have not seen, even in some of the best restaurants in Chicago and other cities. The prices are very reasonable also. Wednesday night oysters are great! What a deal, oysters on the half shell for a dollar apiece! If you want to go, be sure to go online and make a reservation. You'll go right to your table when you arrive. Otherwise you may be in for a pretty long wait. Had lunch with a group of five today. When ordering we were informed that they no longer make their own fries. Always one of my favorites, now offering frozen fries that were okay. Do,make their own chips that were really good except I ordered the salted which were way to salty. Friends ranch garlic tasted pretty good. I don't know about the food as the service pissed me off before we even sat down. Our group went to the bar and found seats but were immediately told we couldn't sit there and had to see the hostess and get on the list to sit there. After ten minutes it was determined it was ok for us to sit at the table... From there we tried to order a pitcher of Leinenkugels but were told they only did pitchers of domestics(???) I flagged down the manager and he laughed at me for asking and said the price would be too high and that they were a reaturaunt and not a bar, which may be true except for 1/2 the square footage of the building is a bar... Generally a waste of time to come in. I have never been to a place that couldn't pour pitchers of some tap beers but not others... I expected to pay a higher price but being rudely told no and laughed at put a sour taste for this joint. Crappy staff attitude but with few other choices your stuck with this place. read more

Second visit to the Deck. Went on a Saturday hoping to try the fine dining menu advertised online but they only had the regular menu available. Chose the grouper dinner. I have been coming to Deck Down Under for over 5 years and was so disappointed this past Friday. I made reservations for 4 which included 3 adults and 1 toddler for 545 (attempting to beat the rush because we had a toddler). We were seated right behind the hostess stand at a table meant for 2. We had no where to put anything and ended up giving the napkins, salt and pepper and everything else back to make room. When we received our food it was not the normal delicious food we received in the past - the fries were cold and soggy and the catfish was just so-so. We will go back someday but probably not for awhile. read more

The Deck Down Under left me feeling down under. Took an hour and a half to get our food, which when it finally arrived we were extremely butthurt. Both steaks were cold, everyone's fries were cold, and the coleslaw was neither cole nor slaw. The hush puppies tasted like someone tried to remember a recipe they googled a year and a half ago. The mixed vegetables were nice and hot outta the microwave atleast. The margarita was more of some tequila that had a few warheads sitting in it. Water was cold tho, 10/10 on the water. read more

Stopped in for lunch with a friend on a Thursday afternoon. I ordered the turkey club and fries, my friend had the deck bread and a chef salad. Service was efficient and food arrived quickly. The turkey club was very good on thick, grilled homemade bread. The fries were deeelish! Didn't need ketchup or anything! My friend's salad was huge. She took half of it home. This restaurant resembles the seafood restaurants in Florida. It also has seafood on the menu. Items include oysters on thr half shell and sometimes swordfish. The servers really hustle and are attentive. The menu has been updated and has added common items such as burgers and wraps. The pizza is really good, it is heavy with toppings. Saturday night I had the Deck's Salmon special and it was excellent. I also really like their Tuna and almost ordered it again when the waitress recommended the Salmon. It was very good.
