Live music on the beach below us

This place is IT for ambiance and vibes. The deck overlooks the beach and there was live music - what's not to love? My friend had the smoked chicken tacos, and she loved them. I had the whitefish tacos, and they were just "meh" - kind of bland. The waiter graciously brought me more mango salsa, which helped. But the VIBES were immaculate, and the food was okay. I would definitely go back if I was in the area again.

What an amazing place to spend a Michigan summer day. You can beach it and enjoy some tropical drinks. The food is OK, but normal bar food. The wait staff is so friendly.

The fastest kitchen in town, without a doubt. This has become our Friday night date spot, the best way to end a work week. We can always count on the amazing servers, we recently had both Jersey and Anna Beth, both top servers on their A+ game. The food is always exceptional, as previously noted, we've never waited more than ten minutes for our food. The live music is always a plus, the crowd is always friendly, and the bar staff is always helpful and welcoming. If you haven't given the deck a try, you should stop by. If it's a busy weekend night, you may have a wait for a table, but you can wait at the bar until your table is called and put your toes in the sand.

First time visiting and probably won't be the last. We were seated in more of an enclosed area with no direct view of the beach or band. Service and wait staff was very friendly. Drinks were great - food was just, ok. After dinner we took our drinks and sat outside "below deck." Overall - loved the atmosphere! Would definitely return for the drinks and live music.

Perfect place after a CrossFit competition! Food looked NOTHING like the pictures on the menu, unfortunately. A couple of ppl I was with had the turkey leg and bbq'd meats and said it was really good! Overall loved the vibes of the live music and outside seating:)

The swing seating is so fun!

Amazing spot to grab lunch or dinner on the beach. Double bonus if you have food allergies. They have a whole allergy menu that helps you select your best beach food.

The Deck has amazing vibes being right on the Lake Michigan shoreline. This beach bar sits right next to Pere Marquette Beach and Muskegon South Lighthouse; sharing a parking lot with both. It's $10 parking for the day or free on Wednesdays! But, this is of no fault of the business since parking is managed by the city. My crew and I enjoyed a day at the beach then made our way over to the Deck for dinner. The Deck didn't take reservations however getting on their waitlist was easy. While waiting for your table, you can wait inside and grab a drink. Within 10 minutes we were notified and seated. The summer vibes were unmatched. There is a stage for live bands to play, plenty of seating including adirondack chairs and swings, and outdoor games like foosball, connect four, jenga, and cornhole. Despite the trendy atmosphere, our food was underwhelming. We ordered the Crispy Chicken Strips and Hand-Battered Walleye. The chicken was dry and the walleye slider was flavorless. I'd definitely come again, but eat before and stick to the drinks.

Went for a date night on Friday night, and was able to be seated immediately! There's a ton of seating, great music, and the food was awesome. My only critique would be that everything I ordered had some sweetness to it, and I wish there was more variety between salty and sweet. Otherwise, all the food was delicious and we'll definitely be back!!

Out of town and down in the area, needed to grab a quick bite. They have a window to the left side where you can order on the go and on the right side is the deck where a hostess will seat you. This place is in a touristy location but we were still able to walk up and get a seat instantly. We ordered some pina coladas, shrimp ceviche and tacos. The pina coladas come in cool color changing cups; not sure if you can keep them, and the shrimp ceviche was fresh and flavorful. I didn't really care for my smoked tacos and wish they offered more grilled fish options for the tacos. The waitress was super friendly and even offered to replace it with something else for me. I would say the overall environment is somewhere between a touristy family restaurant and a college beach bar.

Overall: 5/10 Food: 5/10 Service: 6/10 Atmosphere: 6/10 (especially when the weather is nice) Value: 3/10 Look, this place is a staple of the beach here but the food is greatly overrated and it's a super busy place and there's always a wait. If you're passing through Muskogee, it's a must visit spot. Come for the beach and good times but lower your expectations on the food. I think they pride themselves on their food which they need to rethink their BBQ. There's so much better BBQ in the area. They cater to the masses here so perhaps they can't make a perfected product. Honestly the most overrated place on our trip so far.

Hit The Deck again last night to hear BRENA play to a capacity crowd. And that was on a Monday! Folks fling in from far and wide to experience Muskegon's best beach party. From the super summery drinks (get yours in a cute little plastic pail!) and outdoor barbecue noms, to the smashing sounds of the live bands, it's hard not to have a good time here. I recommend arriving early; table waits can get long. Better yet, bring your own beach chair and park it in the sand in front of the band. And shade can be hard to come by. Lather on the sunscreen!

This was an awesome place to check out when in the area! Lots to do here- live music, watch the sunset, play games, grab a drink, play volleyball. The vibes were 10/10 and also kid friendly. The upper deck is seated service but the lower level you can walk up and order drinks. Drinks were definitely on the sugary side but they came in a fun color changing souvenir cup. We also ordered some fries and nachos which was your average bar food but made for a perfect evening! Staff here were very friendly as well.

Good bbq and beach find. Right next to the beach you can roam around if you have to wait for a table. Only had to wait 20 min on a Saturday night! The food sizes are large and price is really good for the view! Our server Madison was also a super friendly!

Five different blends of savory and sweet just waiting to bathe your barbecued meat in mouthwatering goodness. I was particularly fond of the apricot peach sauce. The ribs here are legit, too. Lots of meat between the bones, and it falls off those bones so beautifully. Green beans could use more flavor, but the cornbread waffles are genius--get them.

We arrived around 2…read morep.m. on a Saturday and found the restaurant nearly empty, which made me a bit suspicious. We ordered the nachos with an extra $7 of brisket, a side of mac and cheese, a brisket sandwich, a pulled pork sandwich, and a kids' pulled pork meal. Almost everything arrived at the table in under five minutes--except the mac and cheese. All of the food was lukewarm, aside from the mac and cheese skillet. The speed and temperature made it feel like they had simply assembled leftovers that had been sitting out. The sandwiches tasted fine but nothing special. The kids' pulled pork meal consisted of two broken pieces of bread with only a few tiny bits of meat and a huge container of essentially room-temperature tater tots. The nachos themselves tasted great, but they were also lukewarm and overpriced for the portion--especially since the "brisket" we paid extra for seemed more like taco meat. Our waitress was excellent, but the portion sizes and prices just didn't feel worth it. The food would have been much better if it had been served hot instead of warm or nearly room temperature. I wouldn't recommend this place for a family with young kids. Overall, very disappointing.
