We were a party of 8 and dined on a Thursday night. We waited for about a half hour for a table, which wasn't a problem as we enjoyed the swings and some Jenna while we waited. The location is tops! The food was okay, nothing spectacular. Our server was friendly, polite, and efficient. The only real problem we had was with the music. They had a live band perform and unfortunately it was very loud.....we couldn't hear each other talk from across the table. That put a damper on the evening. read more

We were happy to have some gluten free options at the beach! The portions were big--- (too big actually. It seems like we wasted a lot of food and cups and other plastic wear. ) However, this is good bar food and much better than any other beach food I've had. I especially liked the lettuce wraps with brisket. The kids loved their pork sliders on taco shells (so they were gluten free). read more

Karen Z said it perfectly: "Great food, great location, great waitstaff, great view" I think it would be a bit of a drag if the weather wasn't good, but we went on a saturday afternoon (7/19) and they had a really good band playing. It was crowded, but it all ran well. Great place to just chill out, eat some good BBQ, go for a nice walk on the beach before/after. The only concern I had was the shade. We were lucky enough to be there on a mild afternoon, but there are very few umbrellas and not much shade except for a few indoor spots. I think they would make their patrons much more comfortable with a canopy or something. I'm afraid this would have been a 3-star place had it been much hotter. All in all. Great place, and good for them making a cool hangout! It's obvious they are trying very hard. read more

This is in my opinion the best FOOD-SERVICE - and location of anywhere in Michigan. We stop here on our way home from vacation every year and have never been disappointed. If your in this area or passing through it is worth the stop. read more

Loved the food and portion sizes! Definitely worth the higher prices! However, the service wasn't the best..our server had no personality and seemed as if we shouldn't have been there. When it was time to pay, we flagged him down and never came back with our change and pocketed what was left. We had never told him the bill was all set, since the amount he pocketed was not the amount we were going to tip. read more

The Deck has gone through various ownership and the current owners seem to have most things right on. Located on Lake Michigan at Pere Marquette Park in Muskegon, the restaurant has lots of casual dining space, both beside and out. The food selection is good, and the drinks selection even better. If you need to move tables around to seat more people, as we did at our last visit, it's no problem. The wait staff was helpful, although they know nd of messed up our order, perhaps because of the size of our group (12 to 14). The food was good but not great, although the beef brisket and pulled pork that we had were very tasty. The place is pretty noisy but not atypical of a beach place. Not sure if the whole restaurant is open in the winter because it gets kinda chilly at the beach in December. read more

Mmmmmm! This restaurant is super delicious! Everything I've had here has not been a disappointment and the service has always been good, I've really had no problems at all! It's a nice place to go if you feel like eating outdoors and it's always nice when there is a band playing because you feel like you're on vacation in the south. I definitely recommend their nachos! First and last time. Visiting from out of town and wanted a beer after some beach time. Sat at the bar and our group of 4 were ignored. Not even eye contact. Finally had to ask to be served. Finished round 1 and after a wait asked to be served round 2. Absolutely no personality shown by the 2 bartenders. Also counted at least 6 servers standing in the bar socializing while customers sitting at the tables for 20 minutes waiting to have their orders taken. Never saw any management directing the staff. Sad part is the food we saw on servers trays looked and smelled very good. read more

Very tasty food here! We didn't have to wait at all for our party of 10, and food was brought out relatively quickly. My husband and I shared the meat platter, (that also comes with two sides) and let me tell you...it does not disappoint! It was so much food (for two people) that we had plenty of delicious leftovers! It was definitely a great price for the amount of food we received! We had our wedding reception there and although the food was ok, servers were great the owner Michelle Harris was horrible to work with. She was so rude, arrogant, and I would not recommend having a party there if you have to deal with her. She's exhausting with her draining negative attitude. Perfect summer bar. The beach was gorgeous and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. We had a young, male server (can't remember his name) but he was very nice and attentive. They have fun mood cups that they serve their drinks in. All the frozen drinks we tried were delicious!! Between the cold drinks and warm weather it was a great relaxing summer day. This is a really great place for BBQ pulled pork and brisket. I always get the 50/50 (half pork, half brisket sandwich). It. Is. AH-mazing!!! Served with kettle chips (I don't recall whether or not they're "homemade", but still good) and a dip for your chips, which is SO GOOD! The ambience is great. Sometimes they have live bands. It's right on the beach, surrounded by sand and sand vball courts. On a warm sunny day, it is a fantastic place to sit back & relax. The reason for the less-than 5 stars is because the last time we ate there, we waited for a very long time, after being immediately seated, to be asked what we'd like to drink. Everyone else around us had a Server but us. I would almost give it THREE (3) stars just for this, but the food is really good. I would recommend this place for the food, drinks and atmosphere. But I only go on hot sunny days. read more

A warm summer evening, the Lake Michigan shore, and a Jimmy Buffet style band made The Deck a lovely place to sit for dinner. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. We ordered the BBQ sampler plate - the meat was greasy yet dry, not sure how you can pull that off. We couldn't distinguish the brisket from the pulled pork. The sides were bland. My Manhattan was what I call a sloppy drink - a cocktail that was not well balanced, just thrown together. The lime vinaigrette on my salad was sweet and tart, very tasty. The Deck was great food, cool atmosphere and good service. To be honest I was not expecting much but was presently surprised. Portions are large depending on what you order and food was fairly quick to come out. Seating can be a little crowded and the chairs have you sitting at an awkward angle. The Deck is a nice restaurant by the beach. Great barbeque and the portions are nice. This place was only two weeks old when I visited it this summer and they didn't have their liquor license yet which was fine. I'm sure they do by now though. I only ended up liking one sauce, the house sauce. The service was excellent and very friendly. They have a huge deck to eat outside along with pontoons to eat on which is really cool. The prices are really good for what you get too. You can swap options and they have fresh fruit. I love watermelon so I got extra at no cost. Also the view is amazing. read more

Horrible barbecue that is disgustingly greasy and cooked in a very zesty sauce to try and cover it up. I love barbecue and took three bites before I quit. Was recommended to order the Mac and cheese side by a waitress only to be told they were out, yet I saw two tables seated after Us receive the famous side somehow. No draft beers whatsoever and just an odd bar atmosphere on the deck. Our waitress was pretty good but we were greeted by a hostess who told us the service " would be slow because we are understaffed and it rained earlier" ( it sprinkled for less than a minute. I was at the beach all afternoon). Lots of food was being returned and all the teenage waitresses had an attitude because it was busy. Will never go back- huge waste of money. read more

Good food and amazing music! Went here for dinner and got the Meat & Three meal with pulled pork, Mac and cheese, fries, and cornbread with a Louisiana Lemonade. The pulled pork was great, nice huge portion. The Mac and cornbread were good too. I didn't care much for the seasoning on them and the Louisiana Lemonade was alright, a tad too sweet for my liking but good if you like sweet. The music was phenomenal by Julia and the Greensides.
