They have nightly specials which vary from all you can eat shrimp, to all you can eat prime rib. Their prime rib is cooked to order and when you add some creamy horseradish it can't be beat. The menu has a wide variety of meals burgers, Mexican, seafood, chicken, soups and really good wings They also have a wide range of drinks. We were in grand haven for the weekend and this was so good that we went two nights in a row. The bread is baked fresh daily, excellent specials, the fish was outstanding. We've been looking forward trying the Stable Inn for a while now and we were pleasantly surprised with our visit. We stopped in on a Friday evening and had about a 45 minute wait. The atmosphere is casual, with an up north vibe. Our server was very friendly and had our salad and drinks to us in short order. I ordered the Steak and Lobster special. My steak was cooked to medium and was worth the price. My wife had the whitefish and my MIL had the perch dinner, they both enjoyed their meals as well. The food is amazing! Starting with the salad which is always fresh and cold, the dressing are often homemade and delicious. The entrees are outstanding, I had the Prime Rib and my wife had the Perch, my Prime Rib was cooked just the way I like it with ample au jus and horseradish sauce, the mashed potatoes and bread were awesome, the Perch was lightly breaded and cooked perfectly! My wife and I got the all you can eat whitefish. The pieces were on the tiny side for whitefish and the fried was rather dry. The first order came with three pieces. They brought out two pieces for a refill and these pieces once again are small. My picture shows the pieces on a saucer not a regular plate, lol. My third refill took 35 minutes. The server seemed pleasant but was not at our table as much as needed. We left because the kids were sick of waiting. My kids wet burrito was okay... the shrimp Alfredo was okay. We seated ourselves (per the sign that told us to ), we sat over on the bar side that only had two other tables of patrons. Table was clean, bathrooms were clean and restaurant in general appeared clean. HOSTESS & SERVER: The hostess, well there was none because it was currently seat yourself . Our server was very nice, she answered any questions we had and if she was unsure of an answer she went and asked! She was attentive and just a pleasure! FOOD: This is what we ordered.... Beer Battered Asparagus -- Taste, Oh My Gosh! These were SO delicious! We loved the thin battering of these (hate when fried food is so heavily battered!). Size, decent amount of spears. Price $12.00 (normally I would have said overpriced for the portion size BUT these were homemade and delicious so they were worth the price!). We will definitely get them again when they have them!!! French Dip Sandwich -- Taste, per my husband "this is really really good, you have to try a bite". The aus jus was delicious and not overly salty like most of them. Chicken Monterey Dinner -- Taste, very yummy, was grilled perfectly and chicken was moist not dry. Size, 2 pieces of chicken smothered in cheese & sautéed mushrooms. Price $17.49 and it comes with your choice of potato or seasonal vegetable (potato choice of French fries or American fries), homemade bread (garlic bread slice or a roll) and cup of soup or salad (garden or Cesar) Olive Burger -- Taste, was very good. The burger was moist and not overly cooked. Size, normal burger size. Price $13.49 and it DOES come with a side (your choice of French fries, American fries, cup of soup, coleslaw or potato salad)! OVERALL THOUGHTS: All that cost us $76 (without the tip). Not bad for a family of four including an appetizer (we always drink water). My husband wanted to take me out and try some place new so we came here. It was a bit of a wait but worth it. The cabin like decor was very cozy and endearing. We had a very nice waitress where we ordered a glass of red wine, mozzarella sticks, a full slab of ribs, potato salad, green beans, ribeye steak, and mashed potatoes. I called in my order and from the time it was picked up and I received it was 12 minutes and everything was cold so it was ready way before I asked it to be ready which was disappointing. Our friends have been wanting to check out The Stable Inn for quite some time and we were all able to make it tonight. Thursday nights are all you can eat prime rib, perch, and frog legs. Everyone in our party ordered that and I started with prime rib. This prime rib was meaty, flavorful, and came out hot. I also got the Stable Punch to drink and that was delicious and refreshing. For my prime rib I used their horseradish sauce. The sauce brought the prime rib to the next level. So so good! You get two sides and I chose the house salad and the garlic butter mashed potatoes. Those mashed potatoes were so flavorful and buttery and garlicky. I loved them! After my first round of prime rib I got the perch next. The perch comes out hot and freshly fried. It was crispy and so good. The tartar sauce was really good as well. It had little pickle chunks in it and I thought it was a nice touch. I got another slab of prime rib after that and had to tap out. Throughout our meal, our server was wonderful. Refills, bringing out more food and sauces, etc. She really worked hard, all while having a smile on her face. The Stable Inn doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is super cozy. This being from Grand Haven was alway my favorite location to go eat. The salad bar and wings were my favorite. I still love the Prime rib and many other items, but not having the salad bar is taking away from the experience and the greatness. Bring it back! Wow great local place , always busy and jam packed with comfort food . On a recent Thursday we went with boat neighbors as it was raining so we did t mind a few minute drive south of Grand Haven . All the basics in the bar with a good pour if you know what I mean ... The appetizer special was fried asparagus... lightly battered and crispy. The stable hand batters all their veggies including onion rings sold by the foot . We enjoyed prime rib with it cooked perfectly and they offer three sizes of cut. If 0 stars were an option I would give 0. We went in after hiking all day in Grand Haven. Not sure how the food was. We didn't even wait for our drink order. We walked in and it was a cute little place. There were 2 signs. Wait to be seated and please seat yourself. I asked a dark haired middle aged female server if we seated ourselves or if we should wait. She didn't answer the question and stated that side of the restaurant was closed and walked off. So we walked to a booth on the other side and sat down. After noticing no menus on the table we grabbed a few from the table next to us. And the same server screamed from across the restaurant and said I will bring you menus. Well the damage was already done so we proceeded to look at the menu. She then walked over and slammed new menus down on the table we removed the menus from and sighed at us. She walked over told us the specials and that most of them were unavailable until 4pm. It was 3:45pm. She proceeded to ask what we wanted to drink being very rude and short with us. We told her our drink request and she walked off yelling to the bartender for waters and lemonade. We decided not to stay. It was a very nice little place inside. The server was awful. So rude that we were not about to deal with that kind of service. The atmosphere here very much is going for a cowboy theme, but without shoving it down your throat. I ordered the Bourbon Glazed Twin Pork Chops. They were good, but lacked that oomph moment were your like wow that's good, I can't wait to get that again. The meal comes with an all you can eat Salad and Soup Bar, a potato dish or veggie, and bread. The salad was very good, however the soup was lame! It needed pepper to spruce up. I got a baked potato which was good. The bread was a piece of garlic bread. Really? How about fresh loaf or at least fresh rolls. The service was very good and very friendly. We have only been to The Stable Inn once, but I can tell you that we will be back very soon! We were on our way from Grand Haven to Holland and happened upon this restaurant on our journey and stopped for an early dinner. We were seated right away and almost immediately were greeted with our drink orders taken. The menu was expansive with so many options. The dinner I chose came with a side and a piece of yummy buttered bread. As the night went on, it became very, very busy so we were glad we happened to arrive pretty early in the evening.
