Beautiful hotel! I was going to give ZERO stars due to the lack of customer service from the front desk lady named Annella who was there Sat morning 8/16 around 6:30a. I came down because their phones do not say how to dial room to room. Well, Annella had the WORST customer service and she didn't know how to dial it either. She told me to dial 0 and the room number! I asked if anyone else could help she said no. I'm not sure what's missing, but how do you NOT KNOW how to dial room to room. I mean ITS YOUR JOB TO HELP AND ASSIST GUESTS. Anywho, I left and came down later and ALLISON AND TOM WERE WONDERFUL!!! GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE and I believe ALLISON cleared up some confusion about their shuttle service. Because of these two I'm giving TWO STARS! I don't care how beautiful your hotel is, I will make sure to give an HONEST REVIEW and tell folks my experience. So basically, you will be on your own if Annelle is there. A Hidden Gem in Buffalo! I stayed at the Delavan Hotel in Buffalo and was genuinely impressed. From the moment I walked in, it felt more like a boutique hotel than a chain--clean, quiet, and thoughtfully decorated throughout. The attention to detail in the design really stood out, giving it a chic, upscale vibe without feeling stuffy. Although I didn't have a chance to check out the spa, it was a nice touch to have that available. The real standout for me was Chandelier, the onsite restaurant and bar. It was beautifully decorated, had a fantastic atmosphere, and the food and drinks did not disappoint. That night, they were hosting a charity event, which brought an incredible energy to the whole place--elegant but lively. Staff were professional and courteous across the board. This place was a mess from the start. The drawers kept sliding open on their own, and I was constantly hitting my legs and feet on them. No recycling bins in the room, so it's clear they just toss everything in the trash--no care at all for the environment. Room keys stopped working after a day, had to go get them reprogrammed. I booked for four people, but they still didn't give us enough towels. Bedsheets had stains that looked either dirty or just not properly cleaned. At checkout, they didn't give me a receipt. I paid through a third party, but they still charged incidentals at the hotel. When I asked for a receipt, they said a third party would email it, which isn't true. I've stayed over 2000 nights in hotels and that's never how it works. They refused to give the receipt at first and argued with me instead of just printing it. Only after I kept pushing did they hand it over. Then they tried blaming me for using a third party instead of just doing their job. I found all the staff to be nice except the checkout lady who should just follow federal and state laws and provide a receipt without comments or questions. But honestly being nice doesn't make up for all the other gaps. This hotel isn't really cheap so the expectations will be higher. read more

I stayed overnight for a wedding. Our room was on the 2nd floor. The carpet squares in the hallway were all separated and you could see the subfloor. The room service tray shelving cart, the laundry angular and a bell cart were left in the hallway from the time we checked until the time we checked out. The bed was extremely loud when you would even roll over. Other than that the lobby was beautiful the front desk clerk was very nice. The elevator signage was torn in the corners. That is just a little thing but you would think with the Delavan being a high end hotel these little details wouldn't go unnoticed. The room was overpriced for the condition of the hotel. Absolutely beautiful! Staff are beyond friendly and professional. The room is beyond classy with amazing art and layout. Everything upholds the 4 star hotel rating except: 1. HOT BOX! You can only turn the ac down to 68°! I was literally sweating to death after my showers, blow drying my extremely long thick hair(I had to take 2 breaks to cool off and wipe sweat from my face and neck) , and woke up sweating throwing my sheets off several times throughout the night. 2. No microwave in the room. 3. No pool. 4. No breakfast voucher when you book through a 3rd party site. 5. Only 3 body towels, 2 hand towels, 1 wash cloth, and 1 floor mat. read more

Not sure where to begin!!! We stayed there 10/31--11/3 for Buffalo Bills game! Lobby looks clean enough, staff at check in were friendly!! The rooms---uggggghhhh!!!! Old, dirty, and falling apart is kind!!! Upon checkin we immediately called down to desk to explain there was a mint on the bathroom floor- dust all over, stained carpet, crumbs in bathroom, no body lotion in dispenser, towels hung haphazardly and not enough towels!! Said they would come right up with towels--we are still waiting!! Stated we wanted the room completely cleaned the following day--out for the day only to return to our same mint still living on the bathroom floor--they had done the basic full and puff, it was not clean! Told them about it once again! Third and final day (thank God) returned to our mint and same ole, same old!!!! They need housekeeping in a bad way--and a head of housekeeping!!!! We saw one elderly lady in hallway--I think she was the complete staff!! And tho I feel for her--at $200 plus a night--we expected a clean room!!! It's just so very dated, this needs to go in the $100 per night category!!! Went to the "business center" to try and print something only to find a plate of pasta and a coke sitting in front of computer--notified the desk agent (young white guy, dark hair) he couldn't be bothered!!! This was the same guy we usually delt with on our live in mint situation--he couldn't be bothered then either!! On a more positive note--Salvatores bar was fun and a walk back into the 80"s where all the men were a Wayne Newton look alike on the prowl big time!! it was an amusing watch and bartenders there were great!! Stayed 1 night. The pictures of the Lobby are old. It does not look like that now. There is a bakery now where the pool table is in the photo. That is the only way to get some breakfast. We had the Harriet suite. We had no hot water in the shower, the tv clicker did not work. Could not get more coffee pods. The restaurants changed the menus because it was Valentines weekend. We planned on eating in the Chandelier bar to grab a burger or sandwich and they did not have anything availble due to the changed menu, Had to go elsewhere to eat. Very dispppointed read more

The first time we stayed here 5 years ago it was amazing! We stayed in the Harriet suite which is the nicest room, lots of space, sitting area, giant bathroom with soaking tub (takes 30 mins to fill) separate rain shower and separate toilet area it's lovely! They had a big hot breakfast. Now 2023 same room it's still lovely, but they've changed breakfast, rather than a full buffet you get a $10 coupon to use at the "cafe" which is essentially a convenience store. They should have stuck with the full breakfast, the price you now pay for rooms should offset the cost of a basic breakfast buffet. Room prices have tripled. read more

We stayed at the Delavan Hotel for a family wedding this past fall. After reading some reviews before we arrived I was a little worried about what we were walking into.... but overall it was a really good experience! + Making the reservations were easy. The rooms were on a block so I called the front desk and requested to reserve. No issues. We received the king bed we had requested and check in when we arrived was easy. I received an email confirmation pretty quickly after I got off the phone too. +/- The Delevan is an interesting venue... it's a hotel but also a huge banquette spot and has a restaurant and bar for more casual dining (aka not there for a wedding for anniversary party). And b/c of the large layout of the place parking is vast... but if there's an event happening than parking near the hotel might be full... at least one night we had to park in the wayyyyyy back of the parking lot. Wish there was some signage or indication to guests and visitors where they could park for the hotel and for the banquette rooms -- maybe make it easier for everyone to find a spot. + Inside, the hotel is LOVELY. I think it's been recently renovated and you could see it in the details. Big windows and white walls make the space feel bright and welcoming. The alcove with the pool table and grand chandelier were unexpected in the lobby but striking. Comfy sofas. Coffee and tea bar 24 hours a day. And one night we even walked through the lobby to find freshly baked cookies for guests. Upstairs our room was spacious and really beautiful. The bathroom may have been my favorite moment -- a full wall of mirrors reflecting the sparkles of the crystal pendants -- so glam. +/- Back to the layout real quick -- its a bit strange and winding. There's the main hotel up front. Then behind that down a long corridor (or cutting through the breakfast room) is the bar and restaurant. Then down another reallllllllllllllly long corridor are at least a couple reception/ball rooms, then you take a left and down another reallllllllllllllllllly long corridor are some restrooms and another couple reception/ball rooms. The place is massive. If you're staying at the hotel - be prepared to take the long walk back to your room after the party. Ladies, I'd suggest taking off your heels... it's that long of a walk. On the plus side - it does mean that the party noise doesn't really make its way to the hotel side of the place. - Breakfast downstairs is very typical hotel buffet style breakfast. Eggs that don't look edible, flimsy bacon, packaged bagels, juice out of a machine. I did try out the Belgian waffle maker and that came out pretty good. So, yeah, overall a good stay. Should we be visiting Buff again I don't know if we'd select this hotel first - as it was a bit more expensive than others in the area. But it IS really lovely. And comfortable. And if you're attending a reception in the same place then it's kinda perfect for that. read more

First impression of this hotel is Wow. This place is gorgeous and beautifully decorated. The front desk staff were pleasant as well at the bartender. We stayed here for a wedding we attended. It's a newly build hotel so everything is brand spankin new. The snacks and water was reasonably priced in the rooms compared to any other hotel I've stayed in. There was a huge gym on the 4th floor where we stayed. There were not a lot of toiletries in our room though. Only 1 shampoo set. Could have been based on us only staying one night but felt a little skimpy. Stayed here over the weekend for a wedding being held downstairs. We had the reservations for months ahead of time and there was no problem checking in. The front desk was friendly enough and offered to help with anything we may need. The room was clean and had all the usual amenities. I thought the bed was very comfortable and also enjoyed the rain shower. I understand that covid has disrupted pretty much everything we do so I can't complain but the morning continental was weak. Nothing hot and just prepackaged bagels and muffins with a toaster. It was nice to have the Greek yogurt though. All and all a positive experience. read more

He provided boutique B&B-level service at a rather large hotel; he was consistently kind and accommodating, and was genuinely concerned about our happiness and comfort during our stay. Bill handled our luggage beautifully and was a tremendous help in loading our car for our departure. Thank you both, Gentlemen! The Delavan is a beautiful property in an ideal location - it is on a main thoroughfare, it is close to Downtown Buffalo and very close to the airport, but not so close to either that the noise and traffic are problems. Stayed many times at the Delavan within last 4 months. Not a family hotel. Walls and ceiling are so thin it makes for an uncomfortable stay. A minor ammenity but dont bring your leftovers back with you because their is no microwave. Also, this is really my opinion, but the bodywash, shampoo, conditioner and hand lotion do not smell good. I have stayed at cheaper hotels with better products (ex neutrogena). Hallway carpet needs to be replaced. Biggest take away, especially for the brides and grooms, be aware not a quiet room. read more

I understand that Covid 19 has put tremendous strain on the hospitality industry. For the few actively traveling you would assume hotels would provide excellent service Not so with this hotel. Understandingly with no housekeeping service you would expect a towel exchange or request for toilet paper would be a priority. On our second day, I request fresh towels. The front desk said, no problem, we will bring them right up. Thirty minutes later, I called again. Oh, the front desk said they never arrived? I sent them up. Do you want to come down and get them? By now I am a little aggravated. I think wow they won't provide the housekeeping I pay for in the room rate but they Have no problem asking me to start working as a housekeeper for them for free? Fifteen more minutes, the towels arrive. The next day the little bit of toilet paper that was in the bathroom when I checked in was getting low. Knowing that delivery would be a problem, I went to the front desk. Oh, sorry, let me get some for you. 5 minutes later he returns. Oh, sorry, we seem to be out, and he would have to find some, and he would send it up. Sound familiar? Yep 30 minutes later, still waiting. I called the front desk only to hear. Oh, I sent it up. Didn't you get it? I know fresh towels and toilet paper might seem frivolous to some, but for what you pay for a room here, it should be included and delivered without a hassle If clean towels and toilet paper is not a priority this is your place. read more

Wall hung flat tv, nice sized fridge, closet with those weird hangers you can't hang elsewhere. Safe. Coffee maker. Mattresses are comfortable - but the sheets and pillowcases are not 100% cotton more like 50/50. Really? For the price? And linens changed only if requested it seems, but I found no little card giving me the choice to opt in or out of a linen change. A better mattress cover would be a big improvement. Pillows are some sort of hard and non pliant polyester things that are very hard to make comfortable. Bath towels are pretty small. Americas getting bigger, so are the towels, pick some up. The rain showerhead in the walk in shower is awesome though. And there's a nice area to put shampoo etc. The bathroom has two sinks, very nice touch. The tp is so bad it's not usable - it's like paper, so cheap. Housekeeping makes the bed daily, empties waste container, cleans toilet and perhaps runs a vacuum. What they don't do is provide fresh glasses (nice touch with real glasses though). They don't leave extra towels, even on request. They don't consistently provide new soaps, even when they take (and presumably throw out) opened ones. Etc. Breakfast comes with the room. It's in a beautiful room with nice heavy silverware and china. Tablecloths. Cloth napkins. All beautiful. But the food is put out at 6 am, I was there, and then that's it. They have music piped in all over the hotel (oddly high volume), which makes breakfast awkward with the tv on too. I'd suggest turning music off in that room from 6-10 am. So the small pastries, nice selections, toast, bagels etc all left out uncovered until 10. Then moving on to hot options - scrambled eggs in a HUGE portion, eggs that I think come from a "egg mix" option (full disclosure - I once worked for a food producer that made "eggs" and I know they are real, but how hard is it to crack some farm fresh eggs?). Then some potatoes, they looked good enough, I didn't try, but I'm guessing not great by 8 am after sitting out for 2 hours. Then some sausage and bacon - the bacon I tried, low end. Then frenchtoast, I had one, just tasted odd. Not sure if that was the bread or what, just odd. Some juices available and some yogurts and cereals as well. Fresh milk. Good coffee. So for me, price point matters, and I have different expectations at different price points. At this one here I expect: 100% cotton nice quality tp Kleenex etc fresh made breakfast channel lists Extra towels if requested Cleaned sheets option Here all the surface things are beautiful. It's the details. Given the amount of food I saw going to waste at breakfast I'd encourage them to rethink this process. Probably be cheaper, and you'd have happier guests, to make eggs to order and use real ones. Perhaps same for the French toast. Have housekeeping training refreshed - they could open curtains, do more than sloppily make the bed (my bottom sheet (fitted) was not pulled taught (more than once) so was not actually on the corner), provide clean glasses, and more. If the price point here was much lower I wouldn't expect as much. But for the money I expect more. I gave the second star for the front desk staff who were pleasant and super professional. read more

I had an appointment at the spa which is located on the 2nd floor of the hotel. I was greeted by Kayla, she was wonderful. She immediately asked if I'd like a water. Kayla did my pedicure. Very nice and relaxing. Had the place to myself so that was a plus as well. Lisa took care of my facial. She was very knowledgeable on skin types as I'm sensitive to certain products. She gave me her card and advice on what skin products to buy. This hotel has everything you need. A bar, restaurant, gift shop, spa and much more! Great local stay away with a great price. read more

This is a 2-year old hotel about 5 minutes outside of the BUF airport. It was easy to find with GPS. The hotel was very clean and nicely designed. Its design provides an elegant ambiance. The staff was courteous and helpful. Breakfast was included with our room rate. I went down to get some breakfast for my husband who stayed in the room as he wasn't feeling well. I asked for a tray to carry the breakfast back to the room. One of the staff offered to get me a tray and brought it up to our room instead of making me carry it up myself. That was exceptional! It is how it should be. The room was as described online. It was clean and very nicely set up. The room was priced reasonably with many amenities that made us feel like valued customers We highly recommend this hotel to anyone needing to stay close to the BUF airport. This hotel was decent. The room clearly hadn't been vacuumed and I got someone else's black hair on my feet on the carpet and again in the shower, which was kind of gross. The parking lot is insanely busy in the evenings when the restaurant next door is jamming. But by morning it's a ghost town and your car will be all lonely out in the middle next to a snow bank in May...well, it IS Buffalo! The front desk people were friendly. Not overly helpful when we called to complain about the wifi, but I guess it's not their fault (the wifi was atrocious! They shouldn't even say they have it). They also weren't too helpful when telling me why the gym was closed most evenings and weekends- apparently people get massages right below the gym so they don't want people clamming free weights- um, maybe switch the two rooms? The decor of this place is a little much- hope you like chandeliers! There are tons in every room, they're also printed on the headboards. Not awful, but not quite my taste. The breakfast bar was fine, but I don't think it would kill them to include plain yogurt and oatmeal as healthier options. I'm really not a picky person but I don't want greasy meats and potatoes when I first wake up every day. We were in a town known for pizza, wings, and hot dogs- was it too much to ask to start my day on a healthy note? Especially when your gym is never open! They only had dairy milk to put with the cereal (which I don't usually drink) so I grabbed yogurts instead, which were all really sweet and flavored. I just feel like some plain Quaker oatmeal packets (like they had at the Holiday Inn Express we'd stayed at the night before) and plain yogurts would have made a huge difference in my enjoyment of the breakfast bar. I will say the fruit was really good and nicely arranged. The room was nice, although I do like a bathtub, which they didn't have (I realize I may be in the minority here, when it comes to baths at hotels). The separate room for a toilet was really nice, and the two sinks felt like a treat when the other hotels we stayed in on our trip didn't have two. The location was near the airport, and near a wedding we attended. Took a while to get into the city or to Niagara Falls, and there were tolls everywhere you turned, although this certainly isn't the hotel's fault, just an observation. I'm writing this for my GF and her daughter! My daughter and I recently spent a week at this terrible hotel! The online site gave us great hopes of a wonderful stay while attending my 50th high school reunion! When we made the reservations we had no idea of how terrible our stay would be. The hot breakfast was lousy and a joke to say the least! Motel 6 would have been better than this place and a lot cheaper! No maid service, no trash service (trash piled up for the whole week), no linen service (we had to use the same towels for the whole week, no complimentary anything, not even a bottled water), NO SWIMMING POOL (for God's sake it's summer in NY)! To be honest, this is the worst stay that I have ever experienced! If I could give them less than one star I would! My mother booked a girls night away for my daughter, her and myself. The hotel was decorated beautifully and very clean. There was live music that night. I loved our room and the giant soaking tub was amazing! We all got relaxing massages at the spa. I felt completely pampered. Then we enjoyed the best dinner that I have ever had!!! We were in the Buffalo area for the weekend and my wife came across the Delavan Hotel. She raved about the ratings on hotel.com. So, like most husbands, she was pleased with what she saw and I just said "book it". As far as the rating, we only gave the four star as this was the first visit. Upon arrival the lobby and entry way are open and inviting. The desk staff were very professional and welcoming. I don't recall the woman's name that checked us in, only that she had a very soft voice. We were checked in promptly and we were on our way. Walking to the elevator we heard music piped through the hallways. Cool, nothing too cheesy or too over the top. I think it was John Legend, safe selection. (He has that elevator music sound anyway). Elevator arrived fairly quick (only one), pet peeve of mine with hotels. With only 4 floors, there really shouldn't be a wait. When we arrived at our room, we were most certainly pleased. Beautiful decor, very well decorated. The art work, choice of wall paper, the furnishings were all pleasing to the eye. Very nice bathroom as well. The pocket door for the water closet was cool. Beautiful walk in shower with the additional rain shower head was cool. Plenty of space and a place to sit your toiletries. (razor, shaving cream, shampoo, etc.) The Dual sinks were a plus. When you've been married 16 years, you'd be surprised how much peace separate sinks provide. The bed slept just fine. I woke up refreshed. I like that I could really darken the room with the curtains, was planning to sleep in, and did just so. Made our way down to the breakfast area. The food was OK, nothing extravagant but it hit the spot. The powdered eggs was a miss, but other than that the food was good. There seemed to be a steady flow of people eating breakfast that morning so the replacement food turned around fairly quick. The gym was closed that morning for repairs, but we went in the night before and it's adequate. You can work up a sweat and maintain your work out regime while on the road. It is a place to sleep it is a hotel that is why I will give it two stars. I will just say I will stick with the chains like the Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott. This was a mistake for us. The customer service was ok. read more

After a 12 hour drive, we arrived at this hotel. When unpacking we could see the staff slouching in a chair in the lobby, but nobody came to greet us. When we made it to the lobby, they told us that they could see our reservation but that they did not have a room for us and then just stared at us with an amused smile. After some back and forth, they eventually got a room for us. After we had been in the room for a while, we used the bathroom for the first time and discovered that the toilet was blocked. When we called reception, we were told that she would try to find a plunger for us and that we could come and get it and try to unblock the toilet ourselves. This is supposed to be a 4-star hotel, and we were given a room with a toilet that was blocked before we entered the room. How is it acceptable to ask a guest to do this? When I pointed this out they did send one of the waiters from the restaurant eventually to unclock the toilet, but he left the entire toilet seat, bathroom floor and bedroom floor covered in sewerage that dripped from the plunger, so I was on my hands and knees cleaning the floor to avoid my kids walking through raw sewerage. The breakfast was above average and room service was good although our food tray was still outside in the hallway when we left the next day. There were only three towels in a room that sleeps four. We travel a lot all over the country and stay in dozens of hotels each years and this one is definitely in the bottom 25%. Save your money and stay at a Hampton inn where people are trained in hospitality and the rooms are guaranteed to be available and clean. read more

Chose this hotel for its proximity to the airport and a overall new and modern look. The check-in was friendly and seamless. Parking is ample. Felt safe. Rooms are modern with pretty chandelier details, a rain shower, fridge, and very comfy beds. We did not make it the included continental breakfast since only stayed one night and hurrying to the airport. There is a spa and an apparently fantastic but expensive Italian themed steakhouse on site which we did not utilize. Walls were a bit thin because could hear guests talking in the early hours but that is everywhere. Recommend. read more

Last year my good friends gave me a great gift entitled "The Delavan Hotel Dinner package" that included a "Luxury King Suite" and a $70 dinner voucher. Finally I had time to use it! I called the manager (Joe Maria) who put me on with a pleasant young lady who booked our room for July 19th and confirmed we we would have a suite (said she would leave a note so the person who checked me in could see it too), yeah! We found someone to watch our boys overnight and me and my wife were psyched. We LOVE the occasional splurge with a "Suite." We can sit on a couch, relax, and spend hours just talking, just us. It did not work out that way. We got there and the desk clerk told me, "sorry, all the suites are already sold." That was it, pretty dismissive, even after I told him that we were suppose to have a suite and there was suppose to be a note. He said, sorry and that was it. I then reached out the manager (Joe) who did not respond and to this day still has not. We got the standard room with a King bed and no where for both of us to sit comfortably, have a glass of wine, and talk. It was just a normal room, no suite, and the suite (which is $$) is what my friends paid for. (And we all know that lying on your back in a bed is good for sleeping, but not really conducive for talking). We tried to log into the Internet to watch a show on my IPad but it the WiFi signal was weak and kept logging me out. No movie! We went to bed. My wife went to shower in the morning and the water was at best luke warm. Frustrated we checked out (the person did not bother asking if we enjoyed our stay, probably best he did not). Before we did, we went for breakfast. And...they had powdered eggs. It was terrible. The ONLY thing I can say positive about my experience was the bacon was decent. For what is suppose to be a classy upscale hotel, I was pretty shocked. After FINALLY working this into our schedule...well this was a terrible experience. (Also should mentioned the gym was closed with no understanding why. We weren't interested in a workout, but still, at least give a reason why and an ETA of when it would open). read more

We stayed here a little while back for a wedding and had a great time. The wedding itself was beautiful and the room was one of the nicer that I've experienced in the area. The hotel is extremely well appointed and it looks like they thought of everything design wise. They didn't skimp on anything, especially the chandeliers, which my wife loved pointing out to me at every chance she could. The rooms were on the large size and the the bathrooms especially wowed me. I'm generally not a fan of hotel beds/pillows but the beds in this room were a nice surprise. Would recommend if you're looking for something nice in the area whether you're traveling into town, staying in the area for a wedding, or just having a stay over date night. read more
