I just moved into the neighborhood and attended an event they were hosting and it was more like a strip club in there!!!!! There was people throwing money at topless girls. Going to the restroom you have to pass the men's restroom and the door is wide open the first time I went to the restroom I seen a guy sucking another guys dick and the second time I went to the restroom there was people doing drugs with the door wide open. I will definitely not be going there again I'm pretty sure everything that was happening when I went was not allowed I made a complain to the bartender and asked to speak to the owner but she was very rude about it. She was also very drunk and was yelling at all the customers. I made a complaint to the city and they're going to look into it read more

There was a dog on the other side of the counter. Dog hair everywhere and the dog wouldn't stop barking. There was even dog hair in our drinks. This review reflects two nights of visits. The first night was a two star experience, the second night was a four star experience! On a Friday night, things were pretty busy, the music was very loud, and I had terrible service at the bar. It took a literal arm-swinging wave to get my first beer. The second beer got ordered, but never came. Keep in mind, I was eating chorizo nachos (yes, you read that correctly). That's not exactly the meal that you want with an empty beer, amiright? Fast forward to Saturday and things went much better. There was less of a crowd, the music wasn't so loud, and the service was solid. There is a distinctly local feel to the bar, even though the exterior and neighborhood look as basic as you'll find. I have to say, the best part of the entire place is the food that comes from the back corner. It seems like a 3rd party vendor that is cooking for the bar, almost like a food truck has set up shop. My first time coming to The Den happened to be on Halloween, and it was more than I expected! This bar has two pool tables, a beer pong table, a retro Arcade game, plenty of seating , and also a spacious area to dance with your friends. The ambience is great and basically what you make of it. I felt this is one of the better local bars closest to me. The bartenders are so friendly, as soon as I walked in I was greeted with friendly smiles even though it looked like they were pretty busy. My friends and I ordered a couple of beers to begin with then ordered some food with Kalavera Antojitos. As I was thinking of what to order I saw other people's orders coming out and all the food looked amazing. I went with their tacos, and some mozzarella sticks. My friends ordered the Kalavera Nachos, a Kalavera Burger combo, and some onion rings. We all shared to try everything, and all of us were so impressed. The quality and taste in the food made by Kalavera Antojitos is amazing. The food is so savory and we have came back almost every weekend to have some drinks and dine in! The Chef at Kalaveras Antojitos is such an incredible person and really makes some food that will leave you more than satisfied, but also wanting to come back for more! Let me just say that this is no normal finger food that bars usually sell. Everything is made fresh to order and they bring up the food wherever you are in the bar. They even have specials every weekend. The last time I went to The Den, the special was Beef Short Rib Taquitos. So good had to get two orders! This place has become one of my favorites. The Den is a humble but sweet little sports bar. I came by on Sunday night during my visit to LA, and while it was quiet, it was another demonstration of the fact that food is pretty much the best reason to come to this city at all. Turns out the dinner menu here is for the Cuban restaurant next door, Moshi Mambo, which they deliver straight to uour table. The vegetarian tacos and vegan burrito were delicious; such fresh ingredients don't need fancying up. The Den's bar serves a variety of margaritas, and for $9 I decided a Cadillac (with Grand Marnier) was definitely worth trying, and it was pretty excellent. The one downside to The Den is that they keep all the doors open, and on this December evening it was cold enough that I was forced to keep my coat on the whole time. But football replays of my Eagles' awesome win from that day were playing on the TVs, so it was still a fun time. Definitely a good spot to check out if you're in the area looking for something casual at a great price. read more

Went here for a meetup: it's pretty much the perfect place to get together and chill with friends. Pretty akin to Henry's Hat with the game board options, only an even chiller vibe. I didn't eat, but the food looked REALLY good... a few people ordered the pretzel for an appetizer, and the burger looked divine, nice looking medium rare beef with appealingly fat pickle slices. The drink selection was awesome, killer beer options at very good prices with a good happy hour (they had a couple of my favorites on draft, which makes me happy indeed.) The only bummer of it is that it's on Sunset, right where Sunset gets tremendously annoying for parking. Every place is $10, which is about what you'd spend on an appetizer, and maybe for people with normal jobs that's cool, but it sort of pains me and my broke arty friends (so I rode my bike there, anyhow.) I didn't come to the place because I was craving mediocre bar food and craving to be around dirty loud men...ok I didn't start this review on a positive note, but hey I am truthful. My friend asked me to meet her at The Den to watch a Dodger game (they lost so I am thinking this please was bad luck). Oh well. I am not sure why I was compelled to write this review or it may be that I am bored on this Saturday evening. Here's the deal about this place; The place is your typical dive sport bar with the majority of patrons being middle aged dirty men getting out of their mechanic or construction gigs (I'm generalizing). You'll find some diversity given the fact that the bar is nestled in Hawthorne. The place doesn't offer up anything special BESIDES some great Mexican themed cocktails :) I'll tell you more about that later. The place sits on the busy Hawthorne street and the place is spacious. The bar is adorned with a number of TVs and some really cool old school Mexican photography. Nice!! The drinks are just ok. Beer will be beer but their cocktails are highly measured and in some cases you are questioning whether or not they spiked your drink. I was forced to ask for doubles. That is one pet peeve about bars, don't train your bartenders to measure their liquor. If they are good, they will know how much to pour. It's not good for business to have your bartender take out her measuring shot..it just isn't!! Come on! How much are you really saving people? Silver lining: prices are on the less pricey side and they offer up this awesome citrus (lime and Orange) tequila drink that is served up in a authentic Mexican mug with a tajin rim. You have some pool tables and a beer pong table- ummm yeaaaa! Im such a college student. Ok the food is an awkward arrangement. There is a food establishment next store that sends a waitress into the bar and takes orders. I had the chicken satay which was was not good at all. The texture was more like calamari and the flavor was meh. Never again. Would I come back? Probably not, only if my friend wanted to meet up again, but I may ask to meet her at an Apple Bees instead...
