Non zoom view from the "Club" level of the VIP area.

Cool intimate venue. Great sound. Weird VIP additional ticket area. We had a great time seeing Bella White and The Paper Kites. FYI about the balcony logistics. The upper balcony is usually divided into a few areas. From back to front... The highest area (where the bar is) usually open to all (21+), but getting a good view means getting here early. Next level down is the "VIP Club" area and requires an additional ticket ($20 for this concert). See photos. Last area down to the front of the balcony are VIP Suites which are clearly the best seats, but aren't for you. The VIP club area is somewhat disappointing. The view is worse than the upper non-VIP area, but you don't have to arrive to early. It's also arguably worse view than the floor, although less crowded, and you do have access to wait staff, if you can get their attention. If the people in the suites stand up, you won't see any of the stage from the "VIP Club" area, so you'll have to watch the big screens mounted nearby. Next time I'll think twice about the VIP Club area, and may just arrive a bit earlier.

I've been to countless concerts in SLC, but somehow this was my first time at The Depot. For being a larger venue, the sound quality was pretty incredible. It was a packed house, but with the tiered levels most people could have a decent view of the stage without having to pay extra. I think the venue must have read some of the previous reviews about the security, because they weren't nearly as psycho as they have been in the past. Not only were they genuinely friendly, but they weren't like most concert security who always seem to try everything in their power to make you have a bad time. However, I can see how less-strict security could make people feel unsafe. The venue and the bathrooms were very clean. The merch and drink lines moved pretty quickly. But like most music venues, they do charge outrageous amounts for drinks and upgrading to seats. Overall, I was happy with my first visit to The Depot! I think although the previous complaints about the strictness of security are valid, they're also strict for a reason.

    restless road at the depot

BY FAR one of the best experiences ever! I went to Restless Road with some friends, with just general admission tickets that were only $11!! STEALER DEAL! We got there about an hour and a half early, parked in the gateway parking, advertised for $20 but it ended up being free! and were the 2nd people in line! Everyone in the VIP line got in before us and we still got the second row! It wasn't too crowded, we had enough move to move around, switch places, and dance! Our view was absolutely amazing! We even got a signed guitar pick! It was an ABSOLUTELY perfect night! one of the best concert venues out there!

This venue is located in gateway which provides several options for parking and food before or after your event! I did pay for fast entry so I can't comment on the winding line down the street. The inside is an intimate floor layout with second floor balcony that doubles as a bar and has seating around the railing. I would've loved to sit up there but did not bring my ID - even if you don't want to drink but you want to be up there you must have an ID! There's really not a bad seat in the house. Even the view from the food/drink spot in the back is good. I paid $22 for chicken strips and fries which is ridiculous and took forever to come out but they were hot, offered a variety of sauces, and were nice in presentation. The bathrooms are on the second floor which is accesible by stairs or an elevator. There are tons of stalls so no waiting and were clean when I went! My only qualm is that if you don't want to get stuck waiting to leave after the event in the narrow hall ways and stairways they have, you have to leave a few minutes early.

The depot is an amazing venue for a stand up concert. You definitely feel the drums here. Looking forward to coming back to more rock concerts here

Line for as far as I can see.

I attend dozens of concerts a year. The Depot should be embarrassed how they handle entry into their venue. There is always a line for blocks. The concerts can never start on time because of the ineffective and inefficient method of entry and security screening.

I went to a show at the Depot this past weekend, and I enjoyed it. The venue was pretty cool and open, and the food was really good. I appreciated that the Depot was close to the train station so we didn't have to walk a ton to get there. The security was pretty strict about the bag policy, though, and two of our friends had to leave their bags in the bushes outside of the venue. We had the garlic cheese curds, which were insanely good and easily some of the best cheese curds I've ever had. We also had the garlic parmesan fries, which were good but also pretty average. I would definitely recommend the cheese curds over the fries. The drinks were good too, but a tad overpriced. To be fair, we were in downtown SLC where almost all drinks are overpriced so I wasn't that surprised. I had a peach AMF, though, and it was yummy. It was $15, but it came in a pretty big cup so I wasn't too upset by the price.

Wow - came to Utah from out of state to see a small band. My first concert back since pre-Pandemic so I wasn't sure what to expect. The staff took the safety precautions seriously: requiring face mask, proof of vaccine, proof of negative test, and even made me and my friend check-in a small bag at the coat check area since it was larger than their approved bag guidelines. Cleanly! Perfect sized venue for this band. Bar area on 3rd floor. Concert on 2nd flor. Friendly staff to assist with navigating the facility.

All 5' nothing of me standing behind crowds of people.

The venue sucks! Totally claustrophobic! Since I got in I've been pushed around by employees. I've been stuck in 3 forever lines. Stop over selling tickets. The place is not big enough for how many people are here. Had to get beers on the 3rd floor and leave my daughter. I was hoping to grab a beer and join her. I had to drink chug my beer or throw it away. Super lame! I don't think I'll be desperate enough to watch a show here again.

This old building has been totally and sleekly remodeled with homage to the past that respects the amazing bones of the building. One of my favorite buildings in the city. Perhaps my favorite part of the building is the rough hewn timber columns and joists that serve as the raw skeleton. Plenty of exposed brick walls also abound, and I'm completely charmed by the old spiral slide that used to shuttle manufactured goods from the upper floors all the way down. It's been preserved and gives incredible character to the space for weddings, parties, fundraisers and more. This is all coming from the point of view of an attendee; to date I've never worked with the fine folks behind the building and have only attended events in the space. They host some pretty remarkable events, so I've got to think they're on top of things. When they're not hosting events (and even when they are), the building is home to all kinds of offices from the tech to the more mundane. There's lots of parking on the north side of the building, which empties out rapidly at the end of business hours. The south side of the building is now nearly kissing a new bridge for Trax, so it's best to just turn in from the north and you can find parking further north or east. I always look forward to events at the SL Hardware Building. It's classy but still casual, convenient, and a stellar spot in SLC. Kudos to those who made the expensive decision to spruce it back up and honor the past. Well done!

Located on one of the most personality-filled streets in the city, it's just crawling with character. I'm unfamiliar with the history of the building, but would love to know the backstory. Now it's a beautiful, long and not so very narrow space with a high ceiling and windows all along the north end. It's not quite an industrial feel--it's nicer than all of that. But it's got a city vibe to it that's just kind of special. They host all kinds of events there. Tonight was a tasting event that showed off a simple decor, a few cocktail tables, a small raised stage, and some nice lighting. I would presume the kitchen facilities were adequate, as there were two chefs there preparing a couple small bites. The staff was great. On top of dish service, all smiles. I stuck around until after the official event hours were over, and it was fun to see the staff whip the place back into tidy shape while making plans for post-event mischief. Classy. I'm going with classy. A classy, unstuffy place to have an event.

How did I not know such an awesome place exists? For one, it can be difficult to find--especially at night. Either it was dark and I suck at seeing (both of those are very true but shhhhh), or it really is THAT hard to find. BoxCar is incredible but can almost be overwhelming because there is SO MUCH stuff in there. I believe it is a warehouse with about 30,000 square feet but there is definitely 40,000 square feet of things in there...but that is also the beauty of it. The artists are able to turn anything into something; there is patterns, there is abstract work, there is EVERYTHING. They have some cute animals that roam the building every once in a while and the people are all friendly--it feels like a family. My favorite art piece at Box Car was the stack of TVs. It was like nothing I have ever seen before and I just found it fascinating that they were able to come up with such a unique design. The highlight of my trip at Box Car was without a doubt, the light show. How freaking cool?! I can't imagine how much work it took. They had so many awesome elements during the light show as well including the water, wind and sounds. It was not just lights. They also had an awesome display at the front of the room. I just cannot imagine how much work goes into that light show and it is one of the coolest things I have ever experienced. I would go back to BoxCar just for the light show!

The environment feels like the best fever dream you've ever been in where you're transported to a collection of attics of the coolest people you've ever known combined with a workshop, a tattoo parlor,  a bar, and an antique store. What I love most about this place is the community they've created that has an underlying notion and bold notion of making sure everything and everyone belongs. Every single person I met was interesting, welcoming, and genuine.  Essentially, BoxCar is a place that demonstrates a tangibility to the idea that just because something is discarded by one person, doesn't mean it's not valuable to another.
