We came during their Christmas pop up and it was darling!!! I loved the atmosphere with the Christmas lights and the cute mugs. I also loved the pizzas and drinks named after different Christmas movies and Christmas things. drinks here were great! cherry bomb was fantastic and balanced, left a delightful after taste as well. my friend got a tiny dancer, she enjoyed it as well. the bar itself was playing great music, had good lighting and overall was a perfect stop to drop by and get a quick drink. service was fast and nice, everything you want in a bar. i'd love to return and try their other music themed drinks, they also have food available until 1am which is a huge plus. read more

This venue is a blast! It is in the heart of downtown SLC, near restaurants, hotels, and convention centers. The bathroom is in the basement, which is a bit odd. There was a bar that only served beer, and I'm not sure if that was unique for the night that we went, but I was a bit disappointed. The acoustics made up for any disappointment. Aside from the fact they close at 1 am, I found this to be a very cool venue with great sound and lighting. I was in town and able to catch a DJ event here in July and had a great time. They have a very limited liquor selection, so don't expect much. The restrooms are downstairs in the basement and the main stage and bar are upstairs on the first floor. I go here with my friends fairly often to attend their EDM shows and I have yet to have a bad experience. It's a smaller venue that does tend to get hot but other than that I honestly don't have any complaints. The bar tenders are nice once you're inside but the bald bouncer outside likes to be an asshole from time to time. If you mind your business and don't pay attention to him then everything else is is great! read more

Love this intimate venue! They have a bar service but you can't take your drinks from that area. Utah has weird laws like that. I loved how you had a great view pretty much anywhere at the venue. Smaller artist will come here. No parking really must find street or paid parking. Bathroom facilities are very nice and there are a lot of stalls! I was hit by a car while riding my bike in front of this bar. I wanted to leave a 10/10 review for James, Dohnovan, and one other great door guy who's name I unfortunately did not get. James is an EMT and checked me out while I was waiting for the paramedics, and gave me great step by step advice on how to handle insurance and other questions. The three of them let me store my bike overnight at the bar and brought out water, ice and chairs for me and my friend. I can't thank you three enough! I am so grateful for the generosity. I will be coming to this bar after seeing how well they treat their patrons! read more

This place is very small and they hosted a concert tonight, I think there were more than 1000 people inside and no air conditioning at all, we were all sweating like pigs, I was about to faint and my husband took me out to take some air, then we tried to go back in and the guy at the door didn't allowed us to get back in stating sorry, no re entry. FIRST OFF!! I GIVE THE BAND PLAYING, Seasoned Amnesia' a (5 star) rating. They rocked! The venue however.. not so ... And can only give the venue a 1 star. And that only because that's as low as I can go. I recently attended this event at the 'Soundwell' first impression, I will say it was appearance was a nice venue for band performance 'concert' settings. My experience however, was a bit under expectations . I had prepaid for venue 'VIP' seating. Expecting to have placement seats that would have given special arrangements from other less priced seating advertised. Isn't that anyone's expectation when paying extra for VIP? also, in addition to, having an appetizer menu available, that showed a pre-stated availability of specific items. When we arrived, we were handed VIP wrist bands (just handed, not placed on) and told to stand by a wall well that didnt seem to welcoming...we then had a staff member walk us into the concert room and was pointed out seating , not in the very front, not even in center, but to far left or right of stage. for VIP? WTH? After he walked away, and because we knew we had pre-paid VIP seating months in advance. We chose seating in center, but not on the front row, assuming it was held for bands closest friends, which is often a case at most band performances. We were content with were 'we' chose. But wondered why we were directed to less than favorable / not so great visual view seating for prepaid 'VIP tickets'. There was a nice cocktail waitress that was fairly prompt that came by. I asked about some drinks and the appetizer menu that we had been told was available. A meat and cheese plate, was what we had anticipated.. and was told all they had was 'marinated olives' , 'Sweet & Spicy Almonds & Walnuts' and something 'Hummus' wow! Well ok.. so never wanting to drink without some appetizer, we ordered the 'Sweet and Spicey' nut thing. When it arrived it was maybe the volume of a measuring cup of nuts. Cold, like it had been premade placed in fridge over night and waiting to be bought. Very unprofessionally served appearance in plastic basket tray and in a styrofoam cup . But it tasted ok. On to the concert... The band, as usual, was amazing.. As I said before.. The Band deserves a 5 STAR RATING . Up to their break everything was as expected. What happened next was we learned people from the street were being allowed to just walk in, off the street, into the venue for free. We were told so, by a couple, who had been let in free. They had no area restrictions whatsoever! These 'free allowed' persons, and there was quite a few, began to take over the VIP seating that many of us had not only PAID FOR, BUT PREPAID FOR . They began standing and dancing right up front, in front of the Prepaid VIP seating, removing our vision of the preforming band. Annoying!!! I suppose it was ok to open up and allow a few people in, new visual and listening audience for the bands future success, but it was NOT ok for them to have free range of the venue and to be allowed to co-mingle into the VIP seating with the prepaid attendees, and pretty much be allowed to take over the venue. Very dissatisfied with the venue at this point!!!!! If they're going to allow people in for free, after the band has begun, these people should have restrictions to were they can and cannot be. Sure new exposure for band is good, but they should not have been permitted to the same seating/area as paying attendees. By the end of the performance.. many of these 'non paid' people were in better seats than we, the 'paying event' attendees were in.. WTH??? Shame on Soundwell! That's the end of my vent. Will be hard pressed to ever pay to enter this facility again at a price! read more

We should all collectively be thankful for 21+ concerts. The very concerts that I used to find "so unfair, dude" as a kid, but now I can't help but think they do an excellent job of filtering out drunk teenage debauchery. Don't get me wrong, there are certain drunks no matter what age, who will do whatever they can to fuck up a perfectly good thing. But it seems to be far more overdone with the under 21 crowd. That said, I'm not giving Soundwell a 4 star because it's anything special inside, its not. It's got a decent sized bar, a few couches that you can buy out for a fee, blue uplighting (is it a wedding, is it a concert?) and a smoking section that's essentially a long outdoor corridor. Nowhere to sit, minus a few chairs outside, so be prepared for the long haul with standing. Since it's an over 21+ venue, the typical ordinances of shows needing to be over at 11:00 p.m. no longer apply. The reason I'm giving Soundwell 4 stars, is because the sound quality was very, very good, particularly for a rap show. If you've been to a lot of rap shows, you know just how many fall victim to the bass overpowering everything else. My man's microphone was turned up, and the DJ was spinning correctly. It made for a really enjoyable musical experience. We get little control over where we get to see shows, but if you have the chance to see someone you like at Soundwell, you'll at a minimum have a good sound experience. read more

I want to like this place, because the sound is great. But the bouncer out front was... poorly trained. Y'all are requiring to show a vaccination *card* at the door, with absolutely zero notice of this requirement. The reasoning I was given? Because somebody can "fake" the government certified app that shows all of your vaccines in the state of Utah, which I have never had a problem with before. But my girlfriend's negative test (which could be easily faked) was no problem? Absolutely zero logic here. I would suggest to reconsider your stance on this policy. Not to mention that the tickets to this show were quite pricey. The least you can do is post a warning about this so people don't waste their money and time. The bouncer was just doing his job, and I get that, but this type of policy is so illogical and just highly frustrating to your patrons, and I am not inclined to come back to this venue even though I am a local and really want to love it. Plus, I have a large group of event-inclined friends who also thought that was highly unprofessional and absurd. Happy to discuss this further if you are so inclined. read more

Formerly known as Elevate, they reestablished the venue into what is now known as SOUNDWELL. The place is smaller compared to other clubs, but can still provide a great time. I have been here twice now. Both with equal amount of fun and interaction with great music to be heard and danced to! They do have a full bar that aren't too expensive. I know an AMF is $9 here. The bartenders are very nice and very accommodating to your special orders (if any). When the place gets really crowded it can get pretty hot but fortunately there is an outside section that you can go to on the side if you ever need fresh air. Dress code varies, but in my personal experience it can be pretty casual. I have seen guys wear basketball jerseys or plain t-shirts here. I didn't always have best experience with the crowd, but that could just honestly be me being unlucky. I had people not willing to move over when trying to get through to your group of friends and sometimes bumping into you without a simple apology. Another unfortunate event happened where my friend lost her glasses and keys to her car. We walked out of the club and noticed it was missing. After noticing the problem we tried to go back in and find it, however, the front security guys wouldn't let us back in even though they saw us JUST leave. They told us to wait the NEXT day at 7:00PM to call and see if they have found anything. So we did just that and they did NOT pick up. My friend had to physically drive down there herself (she had a spare key) just to talk with them in-person if they found her lost items. Luckily, they did! I know it was our fault for losing the items in the first place, but the staff weren't very helpful to us in the beginning or throughout the process of helping us find the items. Overall, cool place to dance, listen to good music, have drinks and mingle with others. Unfortunate events occurred that I wish was handled better, but shouldn't deteriorate you come checking the place out. read more

This is a solid venue that recently rebranded and it shows. Larger spaces, beautiful bar top along the back wall, exposed brick, and excellent sound. We came to see Talib Kwali and was not disappointed. Highly recommend if you are on the fence about seeing an artist perform here. read more

only leaving a 2 because the concert was wonderful, the artists were so kind, out signing things for people and just super smiley and kind in general, but there was a very rude cameraman, he never asked us to move nicely, just looked at me and said "NO, NO NO NO MOVE GET OUT" of an area that wasn't blocked off. then my sibling wasn't even in that area, barely in by like half a foot and he yelled at them saying "NO NO OUT OUT OUT" it was extremely upsetting for both of us and don't think we'll be coming back. its not like we did anything at all to provoke it, we even saw him stepping over our stuff and moved it out if the way for him before this all went down. read more

I don't typically leave reviews but last night I attended the Marsh show and it was great for what I paid. It wasn't over crowded, and if I could change two thing is the ventilation and also having bathrooms accessible to folx with disabilities. Aside from that the place is clean and the staff is usually friendly, tonight specifically I wanted to give a shout-out to the bar tenders that worked 2-24-23 Marsh event. If I could give negative stars, I would. Sadly, we never got to see the venue. My teen son spent $440 for the VIP Meet and Greet with Freddie Dredd. It was cancelled/postponed twice. No further communication from the venue on when the show will be rescheduled until December 4th that the show will be December 5th at The Depot, not the Soundwell venue. We live in Montana and already made 3 trips to SLC for the cancelled shows and received NO communications from Soundwell about the rescheduled show on 12/5. This did not allow us sufficient time to make travel arrangements (ie: get out of work for 2 days, hotel reservation, etc). I cannot comment about the staff or the venue but I can comment that the communications team and management team lack credibility and professionalism. It also speaks very poorly for Freddie Dredd's management team. My son should have just saved his money for his trip to Germany instead of wasting it on this place. read more

I mean, it's your typical music venue. It's very dark. In a good location in salt lake, close to a lot of bars and centralized, however when you buy a ticket to see an artist you've been dying to see there and you come to find the acoustics and sound systems are all wrong. This place is freakin awesome!!! Every Friday they do Latin music and it's always poppin. Other nights it's really something different. I've seen some Hip-Hop, Reggae, and some EDM too. There's something for everybody. The bar staff is hella dope and the security guys are pretty cool. They even have a girl security helping chicks out in the restroom... This place is doing just about everything right! Enticing locals with great reggae shows and you can even drop in on a free show from time-to-time. The venue's sound is unbeatable, I don't know what it is, but the sound is better than almost any other indoor venue I've ever been to. Drinks are a little pricey but the shows themselves are real well-priced. This venue is really bringing the roots reggae scene to life here, stoked to have this gem around! read more
