We spent an afternoon exploring downtown Waxahachie and came across this cool dessert shop to grab something sweet. The owners operate the space and are super friendly and welcoming. My husband kept it simple and got one of their huge chocolate chip cookies and he absolutely loved it. Even though he kept it simple, the cookie was anything about that being rich and battery flavor and loaded with semi-sweet chocolate chips, he said it was one of the best he's ever had. I got a cookie crumble ice cream sundae situation, I can't remember the exact name but I will never forget the taste. I ordered mine with a snickerdoodle, vanilla ice cream and had it topped with caramel and walnuts. Y'all need to make your way to downtown Waxahachie as soon as you possibly can to try this or your own variation since they let you pick any cookie flavor you'd like. The snickerdoodle cookie was so delicious, it comes loaded with crackled cinnamon on top and crumbled into the bottom of your bowl topped with ice cream and caramel, it was an absolute dream. While we were waiting on our dessert to come out, the owner was talking to a family from Nebraska who was in town for their daughter's volleyball tournament, about the history of Waxahachie. It was both educational to learn about the city's history as well as endearing that he took the time to talk to these folks about what made him proud to have a business in the community. They are located inside of the historic Roger's Hotel building, they feature some cute and kitchy artwork on the walls and I can't wait to stop by again on our next visit!! read more

If you are anywhere near Waxahachie, you got to check this place out. * * * The Dessert Spot is a coffee and cookie shop in the old Rogers Hotel just off of the main Courthouse Square of Waxahachie. The Rogers Hotel is now all offices, stores and a handful of residences. But at one time, it was a turn of the century evocative atmospheric upscale hotel. This is where Dallas Lawyers stayed when they had business in the Waxahachie Courthouse. The Hotel has been beautifully maintained. All of the 1910 charm is fully there. And that includes the corner premises of the Dessert Spot. * * * The Dessert Spot offers a limited number of home-baked cookies and a limited number of elaborate coffee drinks. Don't confuse a small number of choices with small possibilities. What they have is what you want. I went with a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Peanut Cookie ... and the House Latte. OH MY GOD ONCE OH MY GOD TWICE. Each cookie must have had 600 pounds of sugar in it ... and never has that much sugar tasted oh so good. And yeah, there was plenty of Reese's Peanut Butter Cup flavor ... But this was way better than just getting the Reese's cups themselves from a supermarket. I wish I had one of those cookies right now. Or make that six of those cookies. Anyone want to talk sixteen? * * * The latte is not just a latte. I got mine simple and straight up with no flavoring. Just the milk and the coffee. But I would swear there is a secret ingredient in that latte. My suspicion is that it is something like condensed milk. But it could be a more elaborate four part dairy mixture similar to the Moon Milk at Summer Moon Coffee houses in Austin. Whatever their secret is, That latte was heroin and opium and winning the lottery and first kiss all at once. The only thing that kept me from getting carried away was that I also had this incredible Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Cookie. * * * I don't live in Waxahachie. I would have to drive a long way to get back there. Those people who live in the residences on the upper floors of the Rogers Hotel Have to be the luckiest people on the face of this Earth. ********* PS. The owners are just as sweet as the cookies. The Dessert Spot, at the corner of College and Rogers in Waxahachie and anchoring the exterior of the Rogers Hotel complex, is a terrific place to stop for a beverage and an amazing dessert treat. Every cookie, Brownie and slice of cheesecake is baked and sold by the owner. We shared a giant chocolatey Brownie and two different cookies ~ a cranberry pecan and a peanut butter chocolate chunk! Yikes! And so good. The service is warm and friendly. There was a small book club meeting there on this Saturday afternoon, totally enjoying the sunny day streaming in through the historic building's windows. There's a couple of comfy leather chairs for solo latte drinkers and higher chairs at a window table for people watchers. Waxahachie was poppin' in the Courthouse Square in spite of the cold windy day, so close in parking was at a premium when we were there. Still, we loved it and we'll be back. read more

I came across this sweet gem this evening while taking a scroll in downtown. The service was quick and the woman at the counter was very polite. The cookies are massive and the right amount of sweet. I ordered espresso with ice cream on top a brownie and it was worth all the calories. Nice big soft brownie and the espresso had a nice kick.
