    Granola bowl & pastrami sandwich
    Vi H.

We stayed in Joshua tree for two day and came here both days!! Love this spot! Got the granola bowl and it was super yummy with fresh fruit! We also got the pastrami sandwich and my friend said it was an all time top 3 sandwich! The pretzel bread really makes it unique and yummy. Got the acai bowl on the second day and it was sooooo good. Their acai was especially fresh and flavorful and thick. Not sure how they do it! Highly recommend! The inside is also super cute and has lots of fun and unique snacks like tin fish and unique chocolates! Wish I went earlier so that I could try their cinnamon roll! Their pastries sell out so go early!

My husband and I got breakfast here before a day at Joshua tree national park and we were full for hours! We got a beef Australian meat pie to share along with the smoked salmon toast. We ended up waiting in line again for another meat pie because we loved it so much! The place does get packed so try to get there early. There is very limited seating so you may need to quickly grab a table once a party leaves.

My friends and I had a great meal at The DEZ before heading into Joshua Tree. The place is busy, understandably so, since the town is small, there's not so many places to go, and there are a lot of park tourists passing through. However, seating was open, and it was comfortable and had a good vibe. We ordered a breakfast sandwich, lox bagel, lamb pie, quiche, and coffee. Everything was really good, but the breakfast sandwich I had was delectable. The thick-cut bacon was juicy and the eggs were perfectly cooked. The lamb pie was really tasty as well, and had a great aromatic rosemary flavor. It's a bit pricey, but that's standard for Joshua Tree, since so many people from LA and San Diego are passing through. The staff are friendly, on top of stuff, and easygoing. I recommend checking it out when you're in town!

There are a lot more places to eat in Joshua Tree than ever before. This is the café version of the takeout shop just steps away. Sizable menu with big salads, burgers sandwiches plus lots of market goodies. We came here for lunch with several people on limited diets and were able to find delicious dishes for everyone. Plus, there's a takeout case with sweet and savory goodies, as well as a market with many organic and healthy products. A great place to stop for lunch on your way to or from Joshua Tree National Park.

I like this place more every time I visit. Today's morning food haul: breakfast sandwich with spicy beef sausage and spinach feta quiche. Both super delicious. The service was delightful. Lots to choose from in the bakery case if you are there early. It's busy so they run out of stuff. This has become my regular stop for breakfast, snacks when I'm in town.

Had to have my coffee! And the Dez was the place to satisfy my needs. I grabbed a caramel iced latte with oat and it was tasty and strong. My daughter was soo happy to see they had her favorite: pina colada! She loved it! The girls working the counter were very sweet as well. They had so much tasty looking goodies but we had our hearts set on baking cookies at our Airbnb so we resisted. I loved the vibe it was giving "cool desert corner deli".

    Delicious butter

You've got to try their hot matcha latte! The best I've ever had. Fun friendly staff and great pastries & gourmet items. They sell an exotic butter called "Camargue" that will ruin you for regular store bought brands.

Surprisingly good food and presentation in the desert. Cute alfresco tables and nice seating inside as well. Good service.

Went on a Friday morning for a quick bite. It wasn't too busy, so I was able to order at the counter and grab a seat to dine in. I ordered a tuna melt, which came open-faced, with a small side of chips. The total was about $16. I'd come back to try other menu items, drinks, and their other small location.

Delicious food! Great service. The inside space is a bit tight but we didn't mind much. Will definitely head back next time we're in JT!

This time, I had the Steak Sando (crispy wagyu ribeye, salted cabbage, tonkatsu sauce, horseradish, pain de mie), which was cooked to perfection. The horseradish added a nice little "bite" to the food without being overwhelming, and the wagyu and sauce were amazing. As a bonus, the service is always friendly, smiling, and attentive (but not too attentive), and the people who come here are often smiling and friendly as well. I am giving this five stars. This is a restaurant that would earn five stars no matter what location it was in, whether a large, cosmopolitan city or out here in the rural high desert. It's good by any measure. Absolutely recommended.

From the outside it looks like a total hole-in-the-wall, but the food tasted very authentic and home style, like something comforting you'd eat at someone's house rather than a commercial restaurant. Everything tasted clean, fresh, and not overly salty or greasy. The owner was extremely kind and even brought out complimentary appetizers for us, which made the whole experience feel warm and personal. Service overall was genuinely friendly and welcoming. What made the place even more memorable was the interior filled with plants everywhere inside the restaurant. Kind of ironic and funny considering you're literally about to enter the desert at Joshua Tree, but somehow it made the place feel cozy and relaxing. Definitely one of those random travel food stops that ends up being more memorable than expected.

The person that was working at the counter was extremely nice. I would definitely give them 5/5 for the service. I ordered bibimbap, short ribs, beef bulgogi, and fried chicken. The short ribs were my favorite. They were very flavorful and well cooked. The bulgogi was also very solid- you can never go wrong with this order. I expected the fried chicken to be more Korean style fried chicken, but it was regular. I would probably stick to the traditional dishes.

The woman at the counter, whose name I didn't get but who had pink and white striped hair, refused to serve my boyfriend even though the website said the cafe was open, the door sign said the cafe was open, and people were in the cafe itself eating and drinking coffee at a few of the tables. She said the cafe was closed because she was too busy, even though there were only a few people around. When I asked if it was possible to get coffee, she said alright but we should order the drip coffee because she wasn't very good at making anything else. While we sat and drank our coffees, a group of about six women came up and she let them order food and coffee for the group. A man was next in line and she told him the same thing she told my boyfriend: that she was busy and the cafe was closed. This pattern continued. She served women in groups of any size, but men who asked were told that the cafe was closed. This is unacceptable and I will not be returning, however nice the setting.
