Please don't waste your money on this if you're in the Jacksonville area. The show was too long, difficult to follow and not at all engaging, the location at the Marriott was extremely unimpressive (a stagnant conference room that was giving mandatory work meeting vibes) and the food was terrible. I've honestly had better frozen entrees. Couple all this with high ticket prices, a cash bar and downtown parking and you'll wish you had made other plans. read more

My friend and I went for a work event, and had a group of about 80+ people. I had a better time this time than I did the first time which was about 10 years ago. Had a great time at the Dinner Detective. It is held in a conference room at the Omni hotel downtown. It is obviously different right now due to all of the Covid restrictions but they still did a good job. The main difference is that you don't walk around to other tables and "interrogate" others. The actors were funny and interacted with the audience. There was a cash bar offering limited wine, beer and mixed drinks. The meal was very good. I had the fish and my wife had the ravioli. To make things better, I solved the murder and won the prize! We plan on going back after things get back to normal hopefully sooner than later. read more

When I purchased my ticket I notated that I'm vegan for the food. When I arrived I verbalized it to be safe and happy I did because they had an alternative for me course and it was truly appreciated. The cast interacted with EVERYONE making the experience an enjoyable one. I'd recommend this outing for all occasions. The ambience of the environment was simple in the best way making it easy to navigate for meals, drinks, and conversing with others. I appreciated the bathroom being close as well. Super hot, no air circulation in ballroom with closed doors and no regard for Covid. Disgruntled wait staff. Hours to get a refill of water. No choice of other non-alcoholic beverages. Wanted pasta but got chicken due to misinformation on website. Not much of a liquor selection; $9 for a glass of low end Chardonnay. Script was confusing and hard to follow. Difficult to hear actors. Price was ok I guess considering what you got but would have happily paid more for better everything. Really disappointed. Definitely NOT "the best in the nation" as they advertise. The true delrective work came before the show. We had thee parties book the same show and all 3 of us had fraudulent activity on our credit cards, this booking was the common denominator. For our "inconvenience" we were told we would have shot glasses for every person in our party on our table. They weren't there. No "I'm sorry" note, nothing. The show was so-so. They need better audio for sure. Half the time you couldn't hear what was going on. The food was alright. However, my mom has a gluten allergy which was noted when booked, was noted on her table card but was brought dessert that clearly wasn't gluten free. Oh, and my husband and I picked the ravioli but apparently we wanted chicken and fish as that's what they had selected for us for our table cards. It was a fun experiences, Overall it was good time, the venue is a small section of the Omni Conference center, the staff was kind and help full the story line and acting was good to great at times. the was not so great, but more then happy with the experience then the food, they did have a small bar for a little more options. The story started a little to slow for me, don't get me wrong it was still a good time, but would have prefer a little more direct story line in the begging, it really didn't get going until the first round of food came out. The Actress and Actors did a great job, even thou the script was not very deep in a story, but i guess if it was any deeper , not many would figure out who the murder was. you can pay an extra fee and be part of the show, or sit back and watch. i am sure we will go again no question, but the food is a pass for me. My husband and I attended the show on 06/26/21. This was our first experience with murder mystery dinner theater, so we weren't sure what to expect. We were terribly disappointed. We arrived 15 minutes early, as instructed, but there was no one there to check us in. The hallway was filled with people by the time the check-in ladies arrived. [Social distancing? I don't think so...] The check-in process actually went quickly and we went in and found our table. We ate our salads and then the 'hostess' came in and told us what the plan for the evening was. We were given 15 minutes to 'interrogate' other guests at other tables. This was a useless exercise and a waste of time. [A 'time-filler' as another reviewer said.] The show began with the murder, then the actors portraying the detectives came in. They were amateur at best. They didn't seem to know their lines and they did not know how to project their voices. The idea of the show was unclear. Were there clues? Were there possible murder suspects in the room? They would choose random people in the room and talk to them, and then they'd leave to go and find more clues. The food was not great, but I'll address that directly with the hotel. There were two more murders and more meaningless dialogue, then the murderer was revealed. It was anti-climatic, to say the least. The hostess brought all of the answer sheets into the room and then proceeded to struggle to organize them. [Why didn't she do that before she came in the room?] Apparently, there were multiple correct guesses; however, the winner was chosen based on the number of reasons she gave as to why she chose that particular suspect. We had a Groupon, so our tickets were $54.00 each. We can get a top-notch meal and a professional show at The Alhambra for the same price, so... Also, the show is three hours long and could easily be condensed down to two. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this experience to anyone. It definitely needs more work. read more

I've been to "who done it" mystery dinner theater on several occasions and have loved each experience. Tonight though, was beyond disappointing. It was absolutely...horrendously... horrible. Nothing about it was good, from start to finish. Even though we arrived at the appointed time, they would not let us check in. As people arrived, they had us wait in the hallway. Once virtually the entire audience of almost 100 people had arrived and we're tripping over each other, they finally began a ridiculously tedious and lengthy process of checking us in. And had ONE person doing it. They did have hors d'oeuvres, but ran out of plates after the first 25-30 people, so a staff person had to be hunted down in order for us to request plates. As to the show, there were no clues uncovered, no suspects brought to light, no mystery delved into and solved. The entire show consisted of the two really poor actors, who were supposed to be homicide detectives, randomly forcing audience members to stand up, then engaging them in absolutely senseless banter that led nowhere. Example: asking audience members if anyone had a birthday. No one did. So they randomly picked someone, said you have a birthday & made them stand up. Whereupon they sang Happy Birthday to them and moved on to another inane time filler. Example: made an audience member stand up, asked him if he wore boxers or briefs. He said boxers. They told him he was lying, that he wore briefs and then they let him sit down. Fast forward a few moments and a "special delivery" package arrives for said audience member. When he reluctantly opens it up, it's a pair of briefs. (?) The actors (and I say that loosely) then leave to "look for clues". The next time they come into the room, the female actor is wearing the men's briefs on the outside of her clothing, because they "make her feel safe". (?) And then abruptly move on to yet another absolutely senseless time-filler - with the supposed female detective wearing the men's briefs on the outside of her clothing... We couldn't stomach it to stay until the end, as soon as we finished our dessert, we left. We just couldn't take the absolute stupidity of it anymore. The food? I must say it was well-prepared and flavorful, however, it was impossible to enjoy because it was absolutely room temperature. I don't mean not hot. I don't mean lukewarm. I mean absolutely stone cold. Thanksgiving dinner left on the table an hour too long kind of cold. So... an exhausting check-in experience, horrible show and stone cold food at a cost of $69.00 plus tax per person. I absolutely cannot stress strongly enough how bad this was. And again I have been to "who done it," dinner theater. I know what good dinner theater is. This was not it. They should be ashamed to charge money for that read more
