I had the Salmon and it came right out of the Morton's box. My husband had the wings (and we had to stop on the way home for tummy medicine). Then we got the check and there were $36 worth of "fees". Our bills was $144 for $40 worth of food and drinks. Absolutely ridiculous. So disappointed. In hind sight, we should have been tipped off that we were the only people in there. We came across Breezy Jazz House while looking for something to do while in Jacksonville, Florida. Noticed it was a jazz and blues venue offering live music as well as dinner. We had the pleasure of getting reservations to see the band "Color of Soul" and WOW!!!! What a great experience all the way around. The staff were friendly, courteous and professional. Everyone had a smile on their face and was quick with service. The ambiance was my favorite type of jazz venue...very intimate which allows you to truly experience the band as you can see the expressions in their faces as they take their own personal journey while playing their instruments!! The food was quite exceptional as well. Would like to see a little more variety but what was offered was prepared well and tasted delicious! Flew into Jacksonville to celebrate a friends birthday. The Breezy Jazz House was chosen to cap off the day of activities. We made reservations for the VIP tables for about 10 people. The atmosphere was very nice. The band was excellent, enjoyed every song! The Food and drinks were great! , The service, lacked coordination and attention. After I realized I had more food than I would be able to finish I asked for a to-go- box and the server told me that they did not have any and offered me a piece of foil... I also asked for my check as well. More than 30 minutes passed without receiving either. I again requested my food to be wrapped and my check, again it was more than 30 minutes before I received the check and another 20 minutes before a server came by accepted my card and placed my food in foil and a plastic bag.... Hidden Fees, Weak drinks, Bar food at fine-dining prices. It was like getting shook down by the homeless except they take credit cards. It started online before I even walked in with the $30 a "reservation" to sit at the bar, at online checkout they hit you with 12% taxes and fees, um, OK I guess. Next, at the bar, I'm reading the menu and there it is, in fine print on the bottom of the menu - a flat 12% fee on ALL orders. Full Stop HUGE red flag - I should have left right then. I regularly give 20% tips for good service; however, when a place tells you on the menu that they add 12% on everything - you are going to be disappointed. They know it, I knew it and they are just guaranteeing their tip, so they don't have to earn your business. The price on the menu should be the price -Everyplace that does this has crap food. On to the crap food and drinks: weak Makers and coke $15 - so I switch to bottled beer, also $15 each. Order the Spinach dip - warm canned spinach with Tostitos corn chips. Entree, (5) Wings and fries, only they ran out of fries and substituted hushpuppies without asking ($22). Small soggy Blackened Salmon and rice served on an appetizer plate ($26). Portions were small, overpriced and despite the bartenders claiming that the chef was "down from Atlanta" - the food was sub-par, prepared with an air fryer and microwave - no chief required. The website cited steaks, shrimp and grits; however, not on the menu the night I visited. On to the music, hoping it would make up for the food - nope. In the middle of the first set, despite paying $34 to sit at a bar stool, the base player stops the show to panhandle tips from the room for 15 min. Yet another shakedown. After fleecing the audience for tips, the music resumes but stopped at an hour for another break - after waiting twenty minutes for another set to never start, I decided to leave - "Check please!" Ahh the check - when I sat down, the bartender asked for a card to "start a tab." This was odd, after I paying to make a reservation - this card first is strip club BS to keep drunks from dining and dashing. This is supposed to be a high end, reservation only club with assigned seating - ANOTHER red flag that I missed when I gave him my Amx. When I asked for the check, the bartender runs my card for a "non-cash" total - again without asking how I want to pay. At the end of the night of nickel-diming the tab and pan handling they have TWO prices - cash or card. The card fee was nominal; however, the failure of the bartender to ask me how I wanted to pay was par for the course. The Breezy Jazz house has fallen for an age-old business blunder. They are chasing the money and not an excellent experience. If they focused on the experience, customers would be beating down the door and pay any cost. Instead they are chasing the money and are failing their guests. Stay home, order door dash and watch Whiplash instead. read more

I heard mixed reviews on this spot but I wanted to see for myself on a Saturday . When I checked online I saw various options meaning regular admission , VIP etc. ...Nowhere on the site does it say what is included in these various admissions that are prepaid. That should've been my first flag. I paid for VIP only to find out that only means I have a small table to sit at. I could've saved my $70.00 and sat at a different table not directly in front of the band. I totally wasted my money so I would not suggest it . Just show up and get a table. I got there at 8:45 ish and there was plenty of places to sit. The hostess was very kind and my waitress was also kind but this and the band are my only positive spots . The food left a lot to be desired and was not worth what I paid. I ordered the jambalaya pasta and I had maybe 4 little sausage bites in it with the chicken and it was bland, bland , bland. I really didn't have much to choose from because the menu was so limited . Another bummer. The drinks were super weak which was disappointing. I tried a few different ones thinking that one gotta be good but I was wrong. I finally just had to say I will stick with water and find a place to drink after we left. There's parking behind the building which was convenient. The band that was playing 12/4 was a very good band so I was satisfied there as well. First time at Breezy's and I enjoyed the atmosphere. The live music was amazing, the BB King Pasta dish I ordered was delicious. Only small issue I had was when I ordered an Old Fashion Drink, it came with a small amount in the glass and I refused the drink, after careful thinking I realize the drink was made properly and that I was just spoiled with how I receive the drink at another restaurant I frequently attend. It's Valentines...Your husband surprises you with a night out to see some Jazz and a steak dinner, how exciting! Everything Comes to screeching halt when you realize that it's going to take 1 whole hour for your drinks to come and two hours for your medium rare steak to come out well done and then for the waitress to loose your credit card. The night was saved only by a little bit, Terry and the Big Boy band with Faith Victoria! They were great and really tried to keep the night uplifted. I apologized for leaving to the band because the Service was so terrible at the Breezy Jazz House. I do not recommend this establishment and I rarely if ever give bad reviews. The owner needs to take a step back and evaluate every single person who works here. The bartender didn't know how to make anything. The waitress didn't put orders in or bring drinks or food for hours (seriously) and then lost my credit card and the the food was over cooked. There was only ever 25 people in the restaurant, the whole night. Then during the bands break the sound guy decided to do an improve stand up consisting of racist jokes, beating your kids and other very awkward topics. It was so uncomfortable. If you are a band that is considering playing here. Think again. You will not get many tips because all of your audience is going to leave in the first set because the service is so bad. Run the other way! My husband pre purchased this Valentine's package with dinner and a show so we were obliged to stay until we got our meal. But there were a few times when I was ready to chuck deuces. Even though we didn't get to hear the band, it was still a pleasant experience. The only reason we didn't get to see the band is because we made other plans for the evening because Breezy's website did not specifically detail the time the show would start. The food selection and prices were a bit off-putting, but the service was great! Our server Spring was quite delightful! We'll definitely visit again, when in town. Hopefully by then, they'll update their website to include specifics regarding show times, and update their menu with more appealing selections! The band, the MC and our waitress were the only good things about last night. The location is great. Could use better lighting. Need a bigger parking lot however you can park across the street and they don't tow in the evening (according to the Breezy Jazz House staff). We did park there and had no issue. $35 cover charge. We don't mind paying however what was the $35 for? Just to enter? Hear the band? Wait, the band had a tip jar so maybe it wasn't for the band. Not worth $35 to enter. Drinks were not good. Had 2 Sangria's hoping that they would get better but the second one was actually worse than the 1st. My husband drank his and didn't want another one. I actually ordered an additional Sangria 3 different times the waitress came to our table, I was fortunate that she never brought the 4th one. Moving on to our waitress. The best thing about the evening. I don't recall her name but she was very nice and was trying her best. The food: don't order any. The food was terrible. First you have a menu on line with items you no longer serve. The food wasn't even lukewarm. Cold curry chicken just isn't going to cut it when I'm out ordering dinner. No one at our table enjoyed their meals. Even the appetizers were bad. I don't recommend ordering any food here. The atmosphere is nice. It could be a very nice place but they definitely need more staff (actually desperately need more staff). How do you expect to run a jazz spot where people are going to want drinks and possibly food with no staff? My husband and I came here on a Saturday night and it was amazing. Small intimate crowd and best customer service I've had in a long time. I had an issue with where I was sitting and was graciously seated in another spot by I believe the owner. It took a while for our food to come out but we were in no rush, so not a big deal. Oh but when it made it to the table...THAT jumbalaya, OMG WAS delicious!!! Hot and fresh, very nice ratio of meat to rice and veggies and the seasoning was perfect. The portion was quite generous. We heard so many great things about this place and were so excited to visit but were extremely disappointed. First, when looking to see when the place opened there is no consistency with times. The website, Yelp, and Google all contradict each other. Some say 7pm while others say 6pm. So after calling multiple times without an answer we arrived around 6:30pm hoping to get some clarity. We arrive and they say that they open at 7pm and have only two spots left. I went here with my s/o so we grabbed one of the last two tables. My s/o clarified with the host that things would be getting started @ 7pm and she said that was correct. We paid a $25 cover per person to be able to listen to the jazz and their special R&B night. We didn't mind waiting a little bit since we did arrive a little early. The server came out and gave us a menu. It's important to note they have a pretty limited menu and we didn't see the Cajun wings or any of the entrees listed on the home page of the website. So unless our server didn't fully communicate how the menu works we only had a few options, which we were not expecting. With that, we thought the food we had was just okay but the drinks were good. They also only had three drinks on the menu so I think most people just order their typical drink of choice. We had an appetizer, two drinks, and our entrees. We also heard the band warm up and do several mic checks. At the point it's 8pm and only a few people are there. So, we were starting to get a little confused at when the start time actually was suppose to be after the host told us 7pm. We asked a couple at near by table when the music was suppose to begin and they said 8pm so we were even more confused (that was at 8:30pm) . At this point we had been there for two hours and had not heard any music or performances. We ordered a Red Bull and continued to wait. We also saw another couple that came in after us leave before anyone was on stage. After that, we finally got the check and waited another 45 minutes without anyone on stage we decided we were going to leave. I came out here for a night of friendship fun and poetry. The club has a real sophisticated feel to it and I must say the decor is just lovely. Even though the event held here wasn't one you had to dress up to the feel of the club definitely makes you feel as though you should. The owner of this establishment was very nice and welcoming and made sure that we had a great time. The server was wonderful as well. The setup of the artist that was there to perform definitely kept the event upbeat but when it came to the menu items it became really hard to make a decision. I decided to go with nachos and expected it to at least be cooked for the price or it but was a little disappointed when I figured out that all the ingredients came from a can. I'm not a fan of canned cheese and wish that would have been disclosed and I just wouldn't have ordered anything at all.
