I've been wanting to try a murder mystery dinner for years, so I was excited to finally experience one! Walking in, I honestly didn't know what to expect. Overall, it was a nice night out, but not something I'd rush back to do again. The highlight of the evening for me was hands-down the food. Absolutely delicious! It was served buffet style with a clear Caribbean theme--chicken, pork, ravioli, rice and peas, bread rolls, and plantains. Every bite was full of flavor, and the meal honestly outshined the show. As for the performance itself... it was definitely on the cheesy side. The acting left me unsure if it was intentionally exaggerated to be funny, or just awkward. The murder storyline felt a little confusing, and the clues didn't really connect for me. I found myself more lost than intrigued. All in all, I'd say it was a fun one-time experience. Showed up and the front desk person didn't know what was going on and tried to seat us at a full table. Then, because I wasn't feeling well. I asked if we could just move our booking to another date.... She gave us a contact person that never replied to us. No options to move your date once you purchase if within 7 days. Even if you are not feeling well, you are stuck and either sit with strangers while sick or take the hit of the $155. Life is too short to be anything but happy. I figured a murder mystery party would be one such occasion to create laughter and joy, and so, I placed it on my life bucket list. I have to say that I was indeed right as I finally crossed this baby off and it was beyond words amazing. I bought a Groupon months ago for two. It included admission, dinner, as well as two mugs. Note that this doesn't include gratuity and tax, so keep that in mind when purchasing through there. Also, if you would like to be a suspect of the show or get a t-shirt, you are probably best buying it directly through The Dinner Detective. Whatever way you choose, both options are very user friendly. My boyfriend graduated from his Master's program back in May, so I originally purchased this adventure as his gift. We had gone to his Barristers' Ball a few months before, and with all the excitement of the dance, there was also a murder mystery party going on. Unfortunately, we felt there was a bit too much going on because they crammed professors' speeches, music, food, and the entire entertaining show within three to four hours. It was a bit of a madhouse, so we decided to do this together someday and really let the show shine. At The Dinner Detective, the show is the star. I mean, yes, the food they bring with it is good. In fact, it was better than I expected. It's a four-course meal, including hors d'oeuvres like empanadas and meatballs, a salad, an entrée (your choice of chicken, fish, or vegetarian), and a dessert (in our case, it was a cheesecake). We both had the chicken entrées and they brought broccoli and mashed potatoes. Perhaps a bit on the small side for hearty appetites, but you won't walk away hungry certainly. In terms of drinks, they do free refills of water, coffee, and iced tea. Anything else, you will have to go purchase at the bar. Note it's cash only. At any rate, I would definitely suggest you bring cash anyway as the show rocks your world, and at the end, you may want to give a tip to the actors. Changing the subject to the actors, it's pretty impressive how they partake in the dinner. Now, I don't want to give away too much, but trust no one. I know it says it on the paper they hand you, but you are best adhering to this advice. You can have actors among you and never know - well, until the end of the show anyway. The entire show is held at the Embassy Suites and parking is typically $19 for guests. If you go and validate your ticket for the show, though, it will drop drastically to $8. It is a bit of a pricey outing admittedly, but it is worth its weight in gold. The show never drags, it's very interactive and you get to choose who to be that night, and if you like to be social, this is definitely a contender for you. You make new friends and some may even surprise you. It's shocking really to see how people bond over the experience, and more so, the reactions after the big reveal. And alas, there's the rub. The big reveal was a total mindblowing conclusion. I mean, yes, we had clues and we had time to figure it out (albeit partially - my boyfriend got all but the killer right), this was just a plain ol' good time. The person who gets the entire conclusion themselves (the who/what/why/etc.) or who gets the closest wins a prize. Still, winner or not, the real prize is this gem of a show - the food, the entertainment, the people. Loved it entirely and loved how the actors were so sweet and let us ask them questions after the show. Oh, and let us take photos as well. Not posting any of those by the way, as I don't want to give away the lovely actors who work so hard for this show. One last tidbit. This company is massive. Apparently they're all over the US and each place is different, each show different. They seem to alternate shows pretty frequently, so go and give it a whirl. I had been wanting to go to The Dinner Detective show for the longest and I am so glad we went! I surprised my partner with tickets to a Saturday night show which was called "Dirty Money". Buying the tickets online is super easy. If you are going in a big group there is a section in the form where you can put that. This makes it so easy if you're not buying the tickets all together so that you are guaranteed to all sit together. You have 3 options for dinner: chicken, fish, or vegetarian which is pasta. All the information you need for the show is emailed to you. Check in begins at 6 pm for Saturday night shows and 7 pm for Friday night shows. There is valet parking at the hotel where the show is located or there is also a parking lot right across the street for $7 self park. The valet is $20. We did self-park because it is just crossing the street. We arrived at the show and were greeted by a friendly face. We were given our meal ticket and table number. We then got to choose an alias name. Which was hilarious. I am a huge fan of The Office so I chose our names to be Beatrix Bourbon and Voodoo Mama Juju. If you know you know haha. It was so fun to read what other people had come up with. We then proceeded inside to sit at our table. You are sat with a group and everyone who is wearing a name tag can be part of the show and a suspect. You can choose to pay a little extra and be part of the show. I wish I had done this option. I would've picked my partner to be a suspect. She would've loved it! When we arrived our salads had been served and there was bread and butter at the table for all. I will say the bread and butter were really good! The food is okay but the show 100% makes up for it. The detectives were so hilarious and kept the room engaged the entire time. The woman reminded me of Linda from Bob's Burgers she was so great. The show is made up of 3 acts and in between each one you are served your food. The staff, host, and waiters were so friendly and nice. It really is a small group but boy do they do an amazing job! Everyone involved was great. This event/show/dinner was a blast! It was a truly unique interactive show that gets you out of your comfort zone. It feels like you become part of it and at the end leaves you suspecting even your own husband! The food was delicious . They had 3 choices to pick from chicken, salmon or vegetarian pasta. The pasta was a large portion. There was also desert, salad and chicken. The host went around taking his time to meet every single guest. There was music to match the mood in the room. I would definitely recommend. LOVE LOVE LOVED IT. I never went to a murder dinner before and didn't know what to expect. The event happened in the Embassy Hotel by the Miami Airport. The location was clean and very welcoming. The actors and the show were funny and everybody had a good time. They also used guest and made them interact in the show. The clues were a little difficult and wasn't a big help for the motive of the murder. The food was delicious. It started with a salad, then I had the salmon with broccoli and mashed potatoes and as dessert they served cheesecake. I definitely will recommend this show to friends and family. This was by far one of the best productions I have seen in south Florida. My boyfriend loves Sherlock Holmes and anything mystery related so I knew this would be the perfect mix of a great dinner and show. Throughout the entire night , the actors are very much involved with their guests , you get to even play a character in the show "with a fake name" upon arrival so it gives it a even more theatrical vibe to the scene. The location was great, staff over all very nice. They will keep you on your toes and it's not until the final scene where the "murderer" is revealed, and it is a great surprise. Handing out the "clue cards" during no the show made it difficult to digest the information. I appreciate trying to get the audience involved but having them embarrass themselves was not necessary. The planted actors in the audience were obvious when you questioned them. They came across as rehearsed. I left before they announced the killers. Very disappointed. Dinner detective is such a waste of money completely, my husband and I wanted to do something different and tried this place and it will deff be our last time!! The whole thing is unorganized and childish, it's like little kids put this act together- the clues are all over and the entire set up is just confusing and doesn't make much sense. They tried engaging with the crowd and making it interactive but honestly it was so lame it was nothing how we expected at all!! This event isn't cheap either, for what you pay it's not worth it at all. On each table there are people that are part of the show in disguise and the ppl were quite obvious- it took the suspense away! I'm from Jamaica and booked 2 tickets for this show as part of my trip to Miami. I had to fly back to Jamaica due to a family emergency so I missed the show. When I was planning on travelling to Miami again I contacted customer service and I told them that I'd like to reschedule my tickets. I was told that tickets cannot be rescheduled after the show date has passed even though there were 17 seats available for my new requested date. They could have been more lenient. So I ended up throwing away and wasting my money. Ensure you are 100% sure of your date and there are no unexpected surprises so you don't end up throwing away money if you have a date change like I did. read more

It may be that the night I went to the dinner it wasn't their best, reading the other reviews, but I thought the experience was really poor. Not great food, very open plot making it difficult to solve the mystery, actors not wearing any kind of costume, old fashion clues...I don't know why do they call it "interactive": you barely do anything. I did not understood either why at the begining of the performance they say "to be aware of everything and everyone" (referring to objects being possible clues or people being suspicious) but then paper photocopied clues are provided to you while seated and you don't actively have to do anything. Where's the interaction?!? Also, negative points for not warning anywhere the parking is not free/included (this is not a cheap dinner and yet be prepared to keep adding extra costs), and also for charging a fee for online reservations (which you are forced to do, to pick up a date). At the end of the night this was expensive and in my opinion not worth it, there are way better activities to do out there. read more

I had a last minute venue change and Whitney the owner of the company was very accommodating and made sure everything went as planned. My guests really enjoyed the show as many of them were chosen to partake in the activities throughout the night. The actors were great and added comedy to the show. If you are looking for a fun night out I would recommend going to Embassy Suits to see the show or if you are looking for a Murder Mystery entertainment company to host your next party I would not hesitate to hire them. read more
