This is a great find off I-70 east of Denver. Great food in a very cool atmosphere. I had the pork chop with a guajillo cherry demi glaze. Perfectly cooked. Others had the smokehouse mixed grill and pasta. Everyone was pleased. Morgan was our host and was one of the best. read more

Refreshing surprise! We were happy to stumble upon this gem of a restaurant on our way to Breckenridge. Eclectic but simple menu featured locally grown produce with a variety of unique flavor pairings and textures. The filet was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Baked mac and cheese was decadently creamy. Butternut squash enchiladas were plated on a smoky spicy chipotle sauce that was a great compliment to the squash. Last but not least the bacon-wrapped scallops were tender and flavorful! We finished with their generous portion of creme brûlée. Staff was friendly and our server claims to have grown the fresh greens garnishing on our meal and the mint on our desserts. Last but not least, all of the menu items were reasonably priced. Stopped in Burlington on our way to Omaha, NE. The hotel personnel recommended The Dish Room and we are so glad they did! Although they are open for dining we chose to pick up our food to take back to the hotel. My son ordered the John Wayne burger with a side of sweet potato. I ordered the butternut squash enchiladas. We ordered Panzanella salad to split. The food was to die for!!! Portions were enormous and we ate every bite. Burger was cooked to perfection with bacon and carmelized onions. Even the bun was fresh. Sweet potato side was smoothered in toasted marshmallows and nuts. The enchiladas were full of butternut squash and baked with a thick layer of melted cheese. Green Chile sauce was thick and a savory compliment. Filling and memorable. The salad was generously garnished with beets feta and the most delicious candied pecans. The only thing that could have made it better would have been the side of ranch dressing that was left out of our bag. Caveat to all take out orders - check before you leave! So we are going driving from Kansas City to Estes Park for vacation. We stop in some town called Burlington for the night. Looks like any other small town by an interstate right. It is still early or whatever, not quite time to lay down, so I turn to the wife say "hey you want to grab a drink at that restaurant across the parking lot in a minute?" We were told by locals that this is the best restaurant in Burlington and one of the best restaurants in the entire area, so we had to try it. We were not disappointed. The menu is extensive and creative, based upon the chef's travels around the world.We were especially impressed by the cocktails. I had a Sazerac and my wife had a margarita. Both the drinks were great. We shared an appetizer that was much larger than we expected. This was similar to crabcakes but made with other seafood. We both ordered the chicken curry cauliflower dish. It had great flavors and some very interesting touches including micro greens and tiny corn sprouts that we have never tried before. Blue rice infused with tea was another new treat for us--bravo! We were very surprised at the large amount of food, which included at least three pieces of chicken in each order. We could have easily shared one entrée. The smoked chicken was a little bit dried out, but otherwise we thought it was a very creative and interesting dish. We live here and town and have been coming here since we moved here 2 years ago and the food quality has just progressively gone down. The price is so high for food that is not what you asked for or makes you sick after. The last 3 times we have gone here the food either made us sick, was not our complete order or was not cooked properly per our request. Tonight we decided to give it another try since it has been a few months since we have ate there and it was terrible. My husband's steak and lobster was over cooked, his lobster was on the verge of going bad it was starting to smell bad and his salad dressing was so vinegary that it wasn't edible. I ordered the chicken Alfredo and it was horrible! It tasted more like tuna surprise than chicken Alfredo. Very disappointed. This place actually used to be really really good. read more

Ok... so I have never written a Yelp review. I should have because I have had plenty of an amazing experiences and plenty of experiences that qualify for improvement but, I am compelled to write a review tonight about the dishroom. I wish I would've taken pictures of our meals because they were fantastic, I was not expecting to find such high-quality cuisine in a tiny town on the Colorado Kansas border. My husband and I both had filets and I am very picky about how my steak is cooked and it was cooked perfect. I mean perfect like a perfect medium rare, the salads for huge the sides were amazing and I would come back here again and again if this restaurant was a local restaurant in my neighborhood. Our server was awesome, and luckily for me they have half off of bottles of wine on Thursdays so bonus there! Thanks for a great experience, Dishroom, you guys are doing it right! read more

Traveling from KS to Denver and stopped here for dinner. Found this place with excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. It did not disappoint! I had the Butternut Squash Enchiladas with Sweet Corn Tamale. The flavors and textures in this dish were delicious! My husband had the 6oz filet - medium rare with a loaded baked potato, and my son had the Miso Glazed Salmon with pasta. My husband and I stopped in tonight on our way through town. I read some reviews which made it an easy pick for dinner. We are so glad that we did! Tyson, warmly greeted us at the door. We sat down and chatted with him. He was so helpful and genuinely excited about the food on the menu. We could tell that he was very proud to work in such a wonderful restaurant. We took his suggestions and both ordered a burger each, the John Wayne and the Italian Stallion. They were both exceptional. The only downside is that we live in Florida and most likely will not find ourselves in Burlington, CO again. We will definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is traveling through. The ambiance is beautiful, the menu is on point, and their farm to table concept makes the food fresh and delightful. Nice little gem! read more

Incredible find! Did not expect to find such a great place to eat in Burlington. I had the Blackberry Goat Salad. It was huge and amazing. Hubby had the tuna club with tator tots. Impressive food made by a true Chef! Meatball sandwich was outstanding. Lots of good ingredients mixed in with the ground beef which obviously was very high-quality. Served and a baguette was excellent. Also had the sweet potato side which had lots of flavor and additional ingredients that I haven't had in my sweet potato pie in the past but it was excellent. We ate their Thursday while on a road trip. Our server was not able to wear her mask properly. My burger was over cooked and dry. Portions are really too large for a lunch menu. Amazing! We could not believe this restaurant was in a small town in eastern Colorado! The restaurant itself is cozy and welcoming, the service was friendly and attentive and the food was creative and perfectly executed as were the cocktails. I ordered the Smoked Out platter because it included two of their signature items, the sweet corn tamale and The Dish popper. The chicken was juicy and perfectly smoky and I just love smoked kielbasa but the popper and tamale stole the show. Both were unique and so, so good. My wife ordered the Japanese Striploin which also came highly recommended. She was not disappointed. It was like no other steak we have had before, very unique flavor and cooked a perfect medium rare. I honestly can't remember the names of the cocktails we had but one came off of their Africa-inspired menu and was creative and quite tasty. This was a very nice surprise in a small town off of I-70. Who would have guessed that there would be an actual restaurant nestled amidst the fast-food stops. Tom has the trout while I opted for smoked salmon. We shared an extra side salad which was quite nice. The service was excellent. The only wrinkle was that Tom did not understand what sweet corn fritters--he thought they would be a single item much like hash browns instead of like the pancakes they are.
