I've been coming here for years and love this location in particular. My bestfriend and I ate here. The waitress Erin G. was very friendly. The price was definitely reasonable. The bartender was great made our night great but the bouncer or hostess idk what he was but he was IDing everyone who came in even if it was to just sit and dine with no drinks. Super rude and loud. I used to like The Distillery quite a bit. I have to admit though, my favorite staples there used to be a house salad with honey mustard dressing, a baked potato and french onion soup. That was definitely a few years back, and I hadn't been there to eat off the regular menu in some time. My most recent trip there was really disappointing. We had the unclassic BLT and reuben. The reuben was okay, but the bread was barely toasted - we've had this before and it was far better. The unclassic turkey BLT was probably the worst sandwich I've had in recent memory - the bacon was soggy, the turkey was falling apart and there was nothing holding the fumbling mess together. The portion of french fries on the side was very small and quite a surprise - in my memory, the portions at The Distillery had previously been more generous. Our server was friendly and prompt and the place was buzzing as usual. It is a great sports bar no doubt, but I wonder if the quality of the food at this location is falling...or maybe just an off night? read more

Man, Listen! I've been to every distillery in Rochester, and after visiting Mt. Hope and being served by lil Miss Courtney, I can't see me not choosing this location from here on out! Apparently they have a "new menu" and it has many great new options. Well don't get your hopes up as the food is horrible. It's gone wayyyy downhill. The portions are small and the food was cold. The best part of our Sunday afternoon visit was being promptly seated. We had a party of 5 who were celebrating my Father's Day. The place was surprisingly empty at 1 PM; we soon found out why. All of the complaints seen in the other reviews were manifested during our visit. The most annoying thing is that once you finally get to make an order, you never see the waitress again! Other staff passing by our booth refused to make eye contact with us. The kitchen staff delivered our food (partially) 45 minutes later. Other tables who arrived later than us were served food within 15 minutes. Our order of 50 wings was stone cold on the bottom, with some on top that were freshly cooked. I finally got the manager to find out where our fries were. He personally brought them to our booth and apologized. We were never asked if we wanted more drinks or water. The waitress finally materialized and gave us the bill. The manager had comped the fries and one plate of 20 wings. The other two plates were half price. They gave me a free Distillery glass on the way out. I suggest that they make the waitress responsible their tables from order taking to finally delivering the food. That way they have"ownership" of the customer and hence the responsibility. Too much time is spent just waiting. It took us just short of two hours for the 5 of us to get in and out. This is a sports bar. If you want to be in a big group and yell and scream at a TV or don't mind others doing it, you'll enjoy your time. Otherwise, go somewhere else for a nice quiet dinner. The wings are good to great, the cheese fries are gluttonously good, ditto with the nachos. Burgers are fine, but not great- and that is pretty much the deal with the rest of the food. They usually have good drink specials, and usually make a good bloody mary. On top of that, half price apps after 9pm Sun-Thursday really can't be beat (as you'll note there best food are apps soo...) Service is usually efficient and friendly. read more

Well it is official, the Distillery has consistent disappointed. My husband and I have been to the Mount Hope, Winton, and Victor Distillery multiple times desperately trying to have a good experience and time after time the place has disappointed. Initially we declared that it was just that the entrees were just too boring, poor portioned, and poorly cooked, but the appetizers were ok. The service at all 3 locations has NEVER been good. Errors in our order, slow service, never returning with our check, bringing our check without asking if we want more drinks, and a condescending bartender, are among a few of the issue we have encountered with different staff at different locations. So we determined, it's an Ok place for appetizers as those have never been an issue. Despite the fact that each locations layout, size, cleanliness and architecture are good, we just can't get over the fact that the food is mediocre at best and the service is bad at best. To me, there must either be quite a bit of turnover and/or the staff are overextended...ultimately a reflection of poor management. Sorry Distillery, you have disappointed too many times so I feel obligated to warn others. read more

One Friday night I placed an order online for a fish fry. I arrived before the scheduled pick up time and was told, "Your food will be out in 10 minutes." I waited the 10 minutes took my food and left. When I went to eat my food all of it was cold. I work .5 miles away at the hospital, there is no way that my food cooled off that quick, especially since I had to wait 10 minutes before it was going to be finished cooking. I call the restaurant to tell them my food was cold and I was told that the only way that could happen is if I was late to pick up the food. I explained that I arrived before the scheduled pick up time and told that my food was not ready for 10 minutes. I then said if the food was still just finished being cooked there is no way it should be this cold. The woman on the phone would not get a manager for me to talk to and I told her I will be coming back to get my refund and they can have their cold food back when I get out of work. read more

The food is all pedestrian fried fare (though nothing is wrong with that). What is bad is that the service is absolutely terrible. The waitstaff will ignore you for a long time if you are sitting down to get food. Since the place was called "The Distillery," and they have stills in the restaurant I assumed they would at least brew a couple of beers themselves. I was wrong. What can I say about this joint? Oh yes I remember, it sucks....This place is for those of us who still haven't found love or those who are married and looking for something on the side....Let me explain....I have been there on two or three occasions by no fault of my own (ie) get together, party, happy hour after work etc. and I would rather rip my eyelids off with rusty pliers than to step another foot into this bar....It reeks of a meat factory and of all things on the make and since I'm happily married and not looking for a sexual encounter for the night I feel out of place among the desperate, deprived and down right needy looking people who hang out there....The other thing is, if you're not one of the regulars forget about bar service, you might as well be standing there like you have leprosy or something....Almost like "ew you want me to wait on you?" You get my point, not very friendly....The food is nothing more than an Apple-bee's style meal of average freezer bought food devoid of any real quality....The wing's aren't bad, but again wing's aren't that hard to make good....So for me this place is as forgettable as a bad movie, maybe even more so.... read more

Last night some girlfriends and I stopped in after a few months since our last visit. Immediately we were impressed by the shorter girl with a cowboys hat behind the bar. She was very tentative and even suggested we try the coconut shrimp. It was fabulous by the way. A few servers who passed by us (we were seated at the high top table in the bar area) even checked on us to make sure we were doing okay. The staff here is excellent and the delicious food is an added bonus. We will definitely be making more frequent trips to this establishment. read more

I recently went to the Mt. Hope Distillery for dinner and the service was quick and professional. Our server's name was Jessica. She greeted us with a smile and was super friendly. I was impressed with her knowledge of the menu and she was able to answer all of our questions with ease. For an appetizer we had the firecracker shrimp which was very tasty. The manager who checked on our table was Matt. He made us feel very welcome and made sure we had everything we could possibly need. He even suggested a new cocktail to try which was great. I'm really looking forward to coming back especially in the Spring and Summer months when the deck is open. read more

Better if I could leave a no star review. Ordered a Friday special Beer Battered Fish Fry dinner with an extra side of sweet potato fries. Was told it would be 15-20 minutes. Got there in 20, rang out my order and waited. And waited. Over 15 minutes later, a few small side boxes came out of the kitchen. They added it to a flat box on the counter and tried to send me away with a soggy, cold piece of fried fish. That'll be the last time folks. read more
