I came in again to District Eye Care for my yearly appointment today and figured I'd write a follow up to my review from two years ago. This time I met with Dr. Le for the first time and she was incredibly helpful and didn't make me feel rushed during my appointment at all. She took time to thoroughly answer my questions about Lasik and was overall very helpful. Ted helped me pick out frames again, and it was, as always, a fun experience. This time I was a lot more efficient in my decision making, so it didn't take quite two hours, but he was patient in letting me try on as many frames as I wanted and he was really helpful in assisting me in finding the perfect pair (even though I ended up buying the first one I tried on after making him open up nearly every case in the store... which he did patiently and willingly). I really appreciated his assistance deciding on which frame was the best for me as well as his humor that made my experience here a fantastic one! I'll also add that the office seemed to be very vigilant in regards to COVID precautions as well. They had me wear gloves while trying on glasses and kept all the glasses I tried on out of the case (I assume to sanitize them between patients). All staff wore masks and there were not a large number of other patients in the office at the same time as me, so it felt appropriately distanced. Overall, in this crazy time where doctors appointments can feel a little scary, I felt very comfortable and like my safety was being taken seriously. Thanks again to the staff at District Eye Care for making my yearly optometry appointment something I actually look forward to. After 15 loyal years, I left Melody Optometry when I had to wait nearly 2 hours after my appointment time. I wanted an office that values customer service. I found what I was looking for at The District Eye Care Optometry. I arrived early to fill out the usual paperwork. Immediately, I was amazed at how the staff members utilized my time efficiently. First, a billing specialist informed me of my insurance benefits. Next, another staff member had me try on various frames while I waited for my appointment time with the doctor. Then, a staff member screened me; a test that I never had before was the depth perception test. Finally, I saw the doctor for my eye exam. All the staff wore gloves and masks and had strict procedures in place for trying on frames. I really appreciated their safety measures to keep everyone safe. I went here for the first time to get eyeglasses for my daughter. They had so much to choose from and the optician helping us -Ted Martinez- was super helpful and patient. He helped find my daughter the best fitting glasses and the color she wanted. He also helped explain astigmatism to us and gave great advice. There were many other customers/patients there on a Monday at 5:30pm, but I never felt rushed and there were plenty of other staff there available to help others. This is a long overdue review for the service and treatment I received toward the end of 2020, during the holidays. I tried the big box store nearby previously for eye care and felt like the number on the digital sign that let's you know when its your turn. That is not the experience here. I work in the medical field and know when I am in good hands. I received great eye care and the process was smooth and efficient. Dr. Lieu and her staff from the front desk to the eyewear tech and assistants made sure I was satisfied. My family and I have been loyal customers of this Optometry for years, but this time was the last one. Several reasons: to start the original doctor is not there and nobody told me I was going to be seen by a new doctor. Dr Lee doesn't really know what she's doing and I paid an additional $39 to have a test that was not covered by my insurance hoping that I would have better results and I doubt she knew how to read it. She only said my eyes are perfect, when I know it's not true. Then the only guy there had a horrible attitude because I was getting glasses with my own frames which I happen to like very much and they're a good brand (btw I bought them there the previous time ) the guy told me my glasses were almost the same price as the glasses my insurance covered so I should get new ones; of course I said no. Then when I picked up my glasses they gave them to me without any kind of wrap or even a cheap bag. So cheap on their part, I decided my family is not going back there. If they don't care about their customers, why should we care about them? read more

They are not only highly professional on taking routine eye exams, but also are super helpful on choosing framed glasses for customers. If I could give this optometry center negative stars, I would. Why? This place tries to be competitive with Costco Optometry right across the street at The District in Tustin, but it falls WAY short of what Costco can offer. It offers plenty of appointments. Why? Everyone prefers to go to Costco instead. After your eye exam is done, everyone at the place would try to sell you a pair of frames that'd cost SIGNIFICANTLY less to buy at Costco. And if you've indicated beforehand that you do not want a pair of frames and lenses from them and that you'd only want to complete the eye exam there, get ready to be treated rudely and greeted with patronizing remarks from one of their optometrist (Megan Lieu). I indicated to the staff at the District Eye Care that I was not interested in purchasing more eyewear at this time. My insurance benefits do not renew until a year from now. During the exam, I was treated with disdain. During the exam, she once remarked to me, "Are you even looking at the light?" If you go to this place, be ready to shell out plenty of money for overpriced frames and lenses, in order to be treated with dignity. But as a smart consumer, you know that you can just go right across the street to Costco and get lenses and frames at a discount, along with great customer service. read more

I went in inquiring about subscription glasses. The salesman or the doctor, not sure was arrogant and in the end was condescending and rude. He mocked me asking if he knows where i'm coming from. i respectfully said that you and left. very poor customer service. All i was asking was a ball figure cost of test and glasses combined. will not recommend and if he was not the owner, i would suggest owner to give him some customer service training. Came in to get a pair of frames and lenses. As I walked in I was greeted very nicely. Soon after Ted (the optician) had come out and started to help me. He had asked about my style and then started to help pick some out that would fit my face. He also went into detail of how certain specifications would give my face a certain look and highlight other parts as while keeping it friendly and light conversation while trying out the pairs of glasses. As we waited we were welcomed to any beverages they had (which I don't remember cause I only drink water) Overall great experience and friendly/amazing staff that didn't make it boring or a slow and long process. read more

When it comes to critical consumers, I must admit that I am one of the worst. I'm super picky, have some major "tests" that the office must pass before I can select them, and can be rather uncooperative when I don't see what I like. Enter District Eye Care... First test: Location/Hours. Great, central location. Great hours too. It easy to find (right next to the Whole Foods Market at the Tustin District). I want to go to the optometrist when I want, not whenever the office finds it convenient to be open or outside of its lunch time. Second test: Knowledgeable staff. There is an onsite optician, who can recommend frames for your face and nose shape. They are also more than willing to order other colors of frames if you don't see the color you like. Dr. Lori Yoo is personable, professional, and intelligent. My son's eye exam went smoothly. She explained to him each detail as she conducted her exam, and was super patient. We did not feel rushed at all. Dr. Yoo gave us her full attention. Third test: Wide Selection. District Eye Care carries an extensive array of brands ranging from Oakley and Ray Bans to Burberry and Tom Ford. After trying on a gazillion frames today, I opted for the Burberry frames! Can't wait to get them next week! They even carry some specialized frame brands that are for Asian faces :/ Last test: Service. I had an eye appointment at another local place (where I was dreading going--too dark, unfriendly folks, you know the drill...) when my husband and I walked by and decided to go in and check it out. We were only here a few minutes before we decided to cancel my other appointment and make one here! In addition to a very friendly yet highly professional staff, District Eye Care is very clean, organized and well-lit with a welcoming environment. They carry designer frames and sunglasses as well as a large selection for kids. On both visits (the walk-in and then the eye appointment the next day) everyone took a great deal of time to answer questions and show us all of the frames. I never felt rushed or like I was a bother. Crystal was especially knowledgable about our insurance benefits (very helpful since this was my first year with this benefit plan) and was able to give us the break down so we could make the best choice. Dr. Yoo was fantastic, too. Very warm and personable. She made me feel comfortable even though I am a bit squeamish with eye tests. Plus they have the latest in eye care and testing for eye health--no more puffs in the eye, thank goodness! Of course, the District location is extremely convenient as well.
