Atmosphere very very nice . Rooms small but nice . Beach was beautiful sand like Anguilla. We need a crib and the crib broke with my child in it he's only 5 months old could have been hurt. Ordered and paid and signed a paper 200 for a late 2 pm check out at 11am room service kept on knocking at the door front desk called and told us that we would be removed from the room. Autumn the front desk was very rude said she didn't see it. Parker management called and apologized and said you can stay until 2 am by then the aggravation was already to much . Why wouldn't they do there homework first before aggravating and threatening there guest . Bad customer service being that we paid for three rooms and we're having a nice time. read more

For clarity, I didn't stay at the hotel, so I'm only talking about the spa. I was in the Tampa/St. Pete area for a two week business trip. The first Saturday I was here, I decided to splurge and get a massage at The Don Cesar. I had a great massage therapist and a lovely afternoon enjoying the amenities like the steam room and the rooftop garden. Had a great time. Fast forward a week: I was so excited to replicate my experience from the previous week that I made another appointment for the same service. Unfortunately I had the exact opposite experience as the week before: 1. My appointment was booked incorrectly. This happened the previous week, too, but I'll take partial responsibility for that because I changed my services a few days before. 2. The spa, according to the staff, was "booked solid." I understand this makes for challenging work, but the staff was snapping at each other on their headsets and the massage therapist was both flustered and mediocre at best. Everyone seemed to be running around with their hair on fire and shivvying the spa guests around similarly. The message, loud and clear, was GTFO ASAP. 3. There was some mix-up with the lunch I had pre-ordered, and I didn't get it. This was probably also partially my fault since I wasn't finished in the spa in time to receive that food precisely when I was "supposed" to be. (I think I was like five minutes "late") Because this is like a work appointment, right? 4. The spa was indeed jam-packed with annoying bridal party spa day-goers...I counted three different cackling, locker door slamming parties. They were short on lockers, reasonably sized robes, and everyone was in each other's way in the locker rooms. Not anyone's fault - just worth mentioning. I left as soon as I could. I may have actually left more stressed than I arrived. To me, this smacks of a pretty serious management problem somewhere in the hotel/room/service/spa interaction somewhere, because today at the spa looked like a hot mess to me. I would have been better off going to a strip mall "day spa" today instead. Super disappointed. TLDR: Had one great spa experience one week; came back expecting the same, ended up getting a crappy $230 massage. read more

I was really looking forward to my time at the Don Cesar, but I have to say it was a bit of a let down. I've had better service at chains. We arrived on Tuesday, November 5 and were surprised at all the banging and clanging and discovered that renovations were occurring around the property. I didn't object to that, but it's the little things that add up. I immediately booked a history tour and we were told, "You're not getting a tour, just so you know, this is a 'talk.'" Well, alrighty then. We had our 'talk' in front of a picture of the man who built the hotel. The first night of our stay was rather ruined by a stench of sewage on Floor 7 and I could barely get to sleep given how strong it was. I later heard some gentlemen in the elevator remarking on this as well. Prior to us retreating to our room on that same night, we thought we'd enjoy a few drinks on the patio. We were surprised how slow service was being that there were few folks out on a Tuesday night. We were stuck waiting about 20 minutes before someone took our order. The following day we were out from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Upon returning, we realized that the maid had not yet arrived, so I called and we arranged for service during our dinner hour. The same thing happened the following day when we arrived back at 4 p.m. I asked if it was protocol to have to call for maid service each day and I don't believe I received an answer to that question. Another issue is that the bathrooms are exceedingly small, which took some getting used to. The first night I banged my head on the sink while drying off after a shower. As for parking--guests can choose valet, but we didn't because we knew we'd be in and out a lot so we parked our car in the lower lot and each day we hiked up the hill to our hotel, that is until one day where we forgot something. My husband drove the car up the hill and ran upstairs to retrieve the forgotten item. What startled me was the staffer who jumped in our car and moved it elsewhere with me in it, despite no one being in the area at the time. Perhaps you can see why I'm a little put out: 1. Sewage smell. (I did mention this to front desk after the second day of no maid service and they said something like that had gotten an engineer to look at it.) 2. Slow patio service. 3. Lack of maid service. 4. Renovations. 5. Valet could have given us five minutes to retrieve our items. 6. The history tour not being a tour could have been handled better--why mention it at all? 7. Tiny bathrooms. Given the Don Cesar's supposed reputation and the high cost of staying there, I expected better. We may have ordered one more round of drinks, or eaten at your much-touted restaurant, but we didn't because we couldn't trust the hype. You will have employees jumping up and opening a door for you as you leave and enter, but don't get your hopes up if you have expectations of otherwise feeling like a valued customer. read more

Every single dish of the 3 was totally dried out leathery overcooked and underflavored overpriced chicken and pork sandwiches!! HORRIBLE!! .. and if you ask why we didn't complain at the time and send it back...would you want to spoil the mood of what was supposed to be a nice afternoon by all the meals sent back and the wait for new ones? Actually, in hindsight, that's all we could think about when we left, and that nite, and the next day. A few years ago, we came here to eat with friends and alone SEVERAL times, and it had been good, and nice...that is why we chose it this time. It certainly was NOT good this time! Very embarrassing, having recommended we meet there this time! HOW PRETENTIOUS OF YOU!! We pay that amount of money, while people in thong bathing suits and other sights walk right next to our tables...how pretentious of you to put on the airs and OVERCHARGE!!! The final insult to injury was that you don't validate for your parking lot for paying customers!! So, you received from us $130.00+, for horrible food and totally absurdly unfair parking. Something is seriously wrong here. They can't get dinner reservations right and lie about it. The parking facilities have problems. The sink in our room is cracked. All for $500/night. As one who used to be a regular, I'm done. In addition I get billed daily on my card but without any receipt. So I don't know which charges are included or whether all are legitimate. Why can't they wait until I check out to go over the billing. The also charged my card for my entire stay when I made the reservation two months before arrival. Today they shut down an elevator to service a meeting on the top floor. Mere paying guests got to wait for 10 minutes for a lift. Time for some adult supervision. read more

We went to this hotel for a anniversary party with friends , we were very excited to stay here, Unfortunately this hotel lost its luster years ago! rooms are small and noisy (you can here the other room next to you ) for the extremely high prices they charge with expensive hotel fees I expected great service, they provided NO room service which in our currant situation you can have room service they recommend leaving it at the door which would have been fine ,but they choose not do offer room service, then NO daily maid service which you have to literally call down for everything you need ( if they answer the phone) only one restaurant was available ,as the hotel is doing construction, it was just a basic food average service with ( no social distance between tables ) they do not provide valet parking as the entrance to the hotel is closed off so you have to park across the street walk into the side entrance and then they have the nerve to charge you $25 valet parking fee when you check out, when you complain they only just say its our policy, DO NOT expect any special treatment at this hotel, staff is rued, front desk is horrible you are almost afraid of them. Oh if you want a lounge chair at the beach with a cover cost is $100 ridiculous. needless to say our experience was not as expected . I would not recommend this hotel you are paying extremely high price for sub par service . they really need to reevaluate there hotel pricing and fees for the service they are providing. read more

The Don CeSar is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. You deserve 5 Stars!! The arrival started with a snafu!! Our reservation was lost - nowhere to be found. Sofie offered a free drink coupon for the lobby bar while the issue got sorted out. A fabulous Whiskey Sour later and Sofie returned with our room key and a room upgrade. Our bags arrived in our room even before we did and the room was amazing, clean and comfortable. Every single member of the staff was friendly and efficient. The hotel is very overpriced. You would think for $350.00 a night I can park in the lot, no ten dollars a day. The hotel food is over priced as well over five dollars for a cup of coffee. 57 dollars for to omelettes and coffee is to much. Worst thing is found a hair in my food. I have stayed in over 20 countries and over 150 hotels and I had better experiences at cheaper hotels then the Don CeSar Hotel. The first room was over looking the garbage the second room the drain was clogged bad. The building is falling a part in some spots. It looks like they slapped some paint on it. The lobby was nice the pool is nice. The room is clean but old. The drinks on the beach suck. If you like waiting 50 minutes for a drink that is melting by the time you get it and the beach wasn't Crowded then the Don CeSar Hotel is for you. The worst thing is no alcohol in the drinks Got 2 Frozen drinks with a shot of dark Rum on top and rum in the drinks. We got Virgin no rum its a bad place to get drinks. Place is just not worth the money. One day $350 for room 57 for breakfast 55 for two Chairs and a umbrella on the beach 10 dollars to park 30 for two drinks. $502.00 a day is a lot of money to stay in a hotel that the room haven't been updated since the 90s. read more

I booked a king superior room for $500.00. We arrived to check in and were told we'd been "upgraded." This was a joke. We got a 1 queen bed room that was retro-fitted for someone in a wheelchair (neither of us has a disability, and no one at the desk said this was that kind of room, when I called to be moved they said "NO." I would like the hotel to explain who got my king superior room and how they justify charging me for this one. Nothing about this is luxurious. The bathroom was dirty and has a drain in the middle that didn't drain water so picture a puddle. The tile looked like my high school gym bathroom tile. This was a terrible experience and I'm really sad about it. It was a special occasion and I had been here for dinner and fell in love with the exterior. Our food was very good and service was good, but this room DOWNGRADE was not acceptable. First let me say the only reason I have given this place 2 stars is the spa. The spa deserves 5 stars but the rest of this resort deserves zero stars. We went to try and reserve jet skis for the next day since they were booked for the day we arrived, we were told we had to be there in person at 1200 if we wanted any shot of reserving them. We explained that we would be on a fishing trip and asked if there was any way we could reserve today for tomorrow as we would not be back by 1200 but would be back in time for a 2pm reservation they would not budge. We purchased food at their ice cream shop Uncle Andy's for our trip the next morning and placed it in the mini fridge. The mini fridge did not work and our food spoiled. We asked the desk to replace the mini fridge it did not happen. When we asked to be reimbursed for the food that spoiled we were told that the mini fridge in our room was not a mini fridge that it was a mini bar and it only keeps things at room temperature and if we wanted a mini fridge we could have paid $30 to have one delivered to our room. I explained if that was the case then why didn't the attendant tell us that when we asked to have the fridge replaced. After some debate they did refund us for the spoiled food. Skip the stay at the Don but make reservations at their spa! The couples sea side massage was absolutely wonderful! read more

I recently stayed at this hotel 3 weeks ago. I would like to start by saying this hotel was luxurious, I felt safe staying there, and it had a very classy vibe to it. They even had live music playing one night and the rooms are very clean. The front desk staff were all very sweet and accomodating as well. On the ther hand, the walls are paper thin. I could hear loud noises from the people next to me, which sounded like it was coming from right outside my door. In addition to this, I completely agree with a majority of the reviews in regard to the ridiculous wait time and service. I ordered my food while at the poolside and was extremely disappointed by one of the female servers there. First, I had asked her for a menu (which I never received), I ended up getting the menu from one of the bartenders. Then, after practically an hour of waiting as she was only giving people shots in the pool and not taking anyone else's orders, I just gave up and went back to my hotel room and literally ordered UberEats because that's how long the wait time was and I was tired of sitting there. All in all, it was a gorgeous hotel that I felt very comfortable in and the front desk staff were amazing but the food service could have been much better from the waitstaff. read more

Let me start off by saying I have had the worst experience here with the STAFF and the building in general. Black mold everywhere around the balcony and we had a GIANT yellow jacket nest attached to our balcony we called the front desk and they said they had no control over the bees and then HUNG UP ON US! We also had to walk to the lobby everyday we stayed here to get pool towels because they never had any available at the pool ( with no one there) After we have paid $1300 for 2 nights at this hotel. I highly recommend the Wyndham Grand in Clearwater it is half the price and a BEAUTIFUL building with the most friendly staff. I will be sending my thoughts about this hotel to the Poynter Institute as well as the AAA diamond inspection. The manger shouldn't spend so much time behind the desk making sure the check in goes well ( taking peoples money) . He should focus more on the EXPERIENCE. That's good business read more

From the outset, knew this place was trouble. Taking a day trip to nowhere, we stumbled upon the Don Cesar. Although I've heard of this hotel, was nice to see it in person. So, on a whim, we decided to see if we could stay. Front desk clerk said he had a room, was not yet ready. By 5pm, still not ready, check in is 4pm. The rest of the stay followed suit. The 2stars for the hotel, very nice in it's charm and location. The lost 3 stars are for the staff. No one ever asked how was our stay, something you need, etc. Don't even know if they have wifi, no one mentioned that. Very poor for the premium price they charge. read more

I have grown up around the Don Cesar and have never taken the time to visit. I wish I had done this much earlier. The food is amazing! The accommodations are wonderful. They modern while respecting the long history. The allow dogs in the first floor room for a fee The staff is accommodating although a little less friendly than I would prefer. The beach is next to perfect although the chairs, cabanas, etc are a bit pricy. The pools are great but, a bit crowded. Overall one of the greats of Tampa Bay. read more

My wife and best friend came to st Pete for my bday celebration, we weren't staying within the hotel but we were looking for pool and beach access and got a day pass, and when I tell you it did not disappoint I cannot say it enough, we loved it so much that on our next visit we will be staying in the hotel. The staff was so kinda and helpful, I am a manager in a luxury hotel in New Orleans and I would hire every staff member I encountered a few particular employees stood out and went above and beyond. Nick who was our beachside server was exceptional. I could not do what he does wading through the sand in the heat all day and it did not affect his attitude or timely service, he was truly exceptional. So thoughtful and helpful, was quickly there to help. Nick is a gem. Then Penny in the lobby bar we enjoy some snack and beverages after a day in the sun and she was a ray of sunshine inside! She gave wonderful suggestions and killer cocktails. Her warm personality really made us feel so welcomed. Cannot wait for our next trip to see all these stellar staff members. I loved this old school beach resort hotel; it is well run; attended a 3 day business conference and it ran very well with all issues taken care of quickly and nice set up. This hotel is absolutely gorgeous. It has been nicknamed "The Pink Palace," and it looks like a giant pink sandcastle on the beach. It is on a wonderful beach with extremely soft sand. My girlfriend and I had a great time. The spa was terrific (we had a couples massage), and our room was very nice. The food was solid, if overpriced, and the service was friendly, although at times they seemed a little understaffed. My biggest complaint is not really the resort's fault, and that is the location. This resort is really the only good thing going on in the entire St. Pete Beach area, and nearby Tampa is not that great either, so I wouldn't want to be there for more than a few days. However, for a short trip, it can be very romantic. Oh, one other thing really irked me. When we walked into our room, we were greeted by a little note that informed us that everyone staying in the hotel is automatically charged an additional mandatory fee (I believe it was about $20 or something per day) for the right to use amenities such as the pool, self-parking lot, etc. It was downright deceitful. Who doesn't assume the pool is free with the cost of your room? Anyway, if you add in that cost, it still isn't a bad deal, and we had a wonderful time, but I didn't appreciate the dishonest pricing. read more

Why one star ? This is a nice facility on the beach but the room we got was terrible. At $200+ a night there is no way this is acceptable. The bathroom is so small you had to sit sideways on the toilet. There is no way this is to code! They have put so much furniture in a tiny room you are falling all over yourself just trying to move around. Sadly, my experience at the Don Cesar was the worst I have had in my many travels. I splurged on this extravagant hotel for the beach, pool, and all the amenities you hope for from a hotel resort like the Don Cesar. It was an experience I had high hopes for and had planned to be a very special occasion for us. The first day we arrived we ordered room service as we were famished on arrival and later enjoyed a meal together downstairs. The next day, we spent the entire day extremely ill in our room, not well enough to leave once. We have both had food poisoning before, and this was awful. It ended up being the most expensive weekend we've spent together and we spent it sick in every way you can imagine - never leaving the room once, missing out on everything the hotel offers and charged for those extra fees regardless. It was a terrible experience. We were very nearly too ill to fly home the next day. The concierge was responsive when we called and the staff brought up some Tylenol, but the hotel's efforts stopped there. They were impossible to reach when we called about the additional fees we were charged - fees for amenities we couldn't use due to food poisoning from food they served us! I truly hoped for better, especially given the unforgettable experience and "incomparable service" promised by the Don Cesar. But at the very least we would have expected to be reimbursed for the food which led to our illness and the daily resort fee which was to cover all the amenities - none of which we were able to enjoy while horribly ill in the confines of our room. We truly regret our decision to spend such a special occasion at the Don Cesar, I have stayed at so many hotels, of all ratings, and this will without a doubt stay at the bottom as my worst experience with a hotel, not for the illness - but for the follow up from the illness and the treatment that was not only without tact, it was just not right. read more

My first impression of the property was one of intrigue. A historic facility with modern conveniences. In my opinion, the condition of the facility was average given the cost per night. The rooms were nice but the common areas, especially by the pool were very worn down and used. The room I stayed in was a king suite via an upgrade through the property management. The check-in / check out process was seamless and all provisions were documented and explained in detail. One interesting item about this location was the beach. Well groomed sand and ample space to roam about without bumping into the other guests. The prices to rent a beach chair are more than expected. If you have the ability, bring your own. Another area this property excels at us customer service. All of the staff we encountered were extremely polite and accommodating. If I could think of one area they could improve upon would be a pricing reality check. $5 for a cup of coffee and $22 for a hamburger/fries is slightly more than I think it should be. Waste. Of. Money. From the moment we pulled up, we were underwhelmed. When we called with questions, we were dismissed. Upon check-out, we brought up complaints about our stay and they were completely ignored. Check-in was quick and there was a room ready for us for early check in. We got into our room. We had a partial ocean view. The room was very small, but the main area was clean. The bathrooms had hairs on the ceiling and on the shower curtain. The bathrooms were very, very small. The pool area is very crowded and there is a kids area, but there were still a lot of kids at the pool. Worse were all of the drunk adults at the pool making fools of themselves. We left and sat at the beach for a while. There was a wedding going on at the hotel, so the main areas seemed more packed. Only one elevator seemed to be working and it was ALWAYS full. My husband had to carry our cooler down four flights of stairs because the elevator was never available. There was pet hair all over the room. We went down to the ice cream shop at 9:55. There is an electric sign in the lobby that says they're open until 11. That's apparently not true. Open until 9:55pm. When we walked in the parlor was full of people sitting, enjoying Frank Sinatra and eating their ice cream cones. The girl yelled at us the second we walked in from behind the counter and she told us they were closed. It wasn't even 10 yet. They still had everything out, yet told us they were "closed." I was truly disappointed at this hotel. The staff would see us and never said hi. They would avert their eyes to avoid eye contact. It was bizarre. The girl at checkout said that they were busy this weekend and were working on the elevators when we told her about our subpar experience. She didn't offer to get the manager to address our complaints or even apologize for the experience. Maybe this hotel should import respectful employees from outside St. Pete since no one seems to want to work in this area. This hotel is resting on it's laurels too much. Horrible customer service! My son (who is 19) booked a 7 night 5k stay online as well as spoke to reservations and at no time did anyone ask him if he was 21 not state at any time that you had to be 21 in order to book a reservation , so after spending 5k on a. Grand room 2 k in airfare he was told they could not assist him and was turned away!!! At no time was he asked or had to claim he was 21 years of age! We have stayed at the Don Cesar as well as the Portofino and has never had any issues and found the hotels accommodating, not after this, what person with the means to stay at this caliber of hotel gets turned away??? very disappointed in the lack of service. The crew at front with cars amazing. Check one gentleman nice. Told our room not ready to enjoy ameneties and will call. Never called we've been up since 4 am. Check at 330 what's up with room said not ready. Check again at 530. The man said not a word to me. Checked in computer handed me a key. No explanation about room or hotel amenities Got to room. My son took first shower. Clogged shower water everywhere. Called maintenance who was terrified. I then called to speak with supervisor who tried to out blame on my for not picking first room which was not what I had booked no other rooms abs gave me 200 credit. Very condescending attitude. No housekeeping services entire stay. One came once but at 530 pm when we just got back from beach to shower. Never to been seen again. In fact witnessed them fighting in hallway next day in morning and again in afternoon. Food service was horrendous left us for 30 to 40 minutes Ended up uber eats most of time.
