This hotel is incredibly unique. The view of the beautiful pink "castle" on the beach is quite an amazing site to see. The hotel inside was very beautiful and elegant. When you enter, you are immediately greeted by the friendly and helpful staff. The elevators and understanding what is located on what level were a bit tricky, but the staff was more than happy to assist with navigating. The restaurants were amazing and the bars served some amazing cocktails. There is even an ice cream shop conveniently in the hotel. Everything that you would need is at the resort, which was very convenient. There is a private beach connected to the resort, and we enjoyed swimming in the beautiful clear ocean and enjoying that amazing beach breeze on a hot August day. The resort also offers their guests the option to utilize their beach chairs and towels. The room was beautifully decorated. We rented the ocean view room. The bed was very comfy (I prefer a firm bed). The bathroom was a nice size and I was able to enjoy a very comfortable shower. The room was a perfect size for 2, with a couch also available for seating. On the balcony there were 2 chairs and a small table. The balcony was pretty small, but comfortable enough for 2. Overall we really enjoyed our experience at this resort. It was elegant, fun, and unique. The staff were friendly and helpful, and our stay really did feel special. But, I do believe that the nightly rate could be lower. The cost of the room did mot seem worth the price. It was an average room with a below average balcony (I love to sit on balconies, I have one of my own). I was not impressed with the room. There was just nothing special about it, especially nothing warranting charging that much for a room. But the rest of the resort was amazing. I would recommend to other to visit the resort. When you are at the resort, take advantage of the spa, visit the restaurants, bars, and the beach. These things were definitely worth the trip. But, in my opinion, maybe consider not renting a room at the resort, because there are other resorts nearby that offer a more affordable nightly rate. We spent a week here for my birthday last month. Absolutely loved it! The room had a lovely view of the ocean and pool, and was beautiful decorated! The king size bed was extremely comfortable, making it difficult to get up for sunrise walks! The service on the beach, poolside, and at the various restaurants were attentive and wonderful. Our only two concerns were: The bathroom was teeny tiny-only room for one at a time. And secondly, there was no room service. The hotel is beautiful. The front door staff and bell captains are amazing. Scott is the best!! The front desk was very helpful and friendly. The food and beverage department was amazing!! The pool food was incredible and fresh! The bars were well stocked and bartenders were excellent. The maintenance and housekeeping was not great, we were moved from one room because it wasn't cleaned. The 7th floor seemed to have a plumbing issue and there were fans and blowers set up all weekend, it was noisy and unsightly. There was no ac on the 7th floor, we called down and they basically said, the ac unit is on the 1st floor, so it doesn't cool the top floors very well. For the price they charge, maybe install some units? The housekeeping was not good, the iron was broken, we called down for room cleaning and they never showed up. Overall it was a beautiful weekend and the grounds are amazing, but it's an old hotel and it needs some help. read more

There are a lot of great choices in Saint Pete Beach and I think I would rather try someplace less expensive with better service. The good: You can't beat the location. It is right on Saint Pete Beach The beach is really beautiful ther There are two heated pools which are large and perfect for swimming or sunbathing. The bartenders at every bar in the hotel were amazing and so are the drinks I didn't like the room at first but it grew on me. The beds are very comfy The hotel has a lot of dining choices, bars and shopping. No need to leave The not so good: The rooms are small and the bathrooms are teeny weeny Nothing other than the beach is within walking distance of the hotel. The closest anything is at least 1.5 miles away so a car or Uber is absolutely necessary There is no room service, which is unexpected for a 5 star hotel. You could order food but then had to go down and pick it up If you don't get to the pool/beach relatively early, there will be no towels available for the rest of the day I was there 3 nights and was told I would get housekeeping every other day. Never happened. When I called the front desk they said they would take care of it (never did) and would bring extra towels to my room (never did) To add insult to injury, housekeeping was pounding on my door at 8:30a on the morning I checked out Keep in mind this is a dog friendly hotel. This doesn't bother me except the people in the room next to mine were never in their room and so their dog barked constantly. This is not the hotels fault however. read more

"Tickled pink" by our stay at the Don Cesar. Fun and relaxing place for our girls' beach trip away from the Chicago cold. ***What can improve: Value - For the price we paid, our junior suite was small. Narrow beds and no door to close off the other room. Layout of the junior suite was not the best. In room wifi was awful. Housekeeping - Service was inconsistent. We often had to ask for more fresh towels and toilet paper because it was never enough. Stores on site - While the stores on site had great variety, they are very pricey and the ladies working there kind of hover by you making you feel a little uncomfortable and pressured. ****The Good: Food and drink - Delicious food and drink. Pricey, but everything we tasted on-the property, from the Rowe Bar, to the poolside bar and restaurant and the coffee and ice cream on-site were delicious. The crab cake sandwich at Rowe Bar was my favorite and so good I had to get it twice on our stay. The Un-Berrybull cocktail with fresh fruit is very refreshing. Location - Fabulous spot. Walks on the beach, in either direction, are amazing. The sunsets here are so beautiful and the uniquely pink hotel make for a wonderful view. Amenities - Great fitness classes and fitness center, with free weights, as part of the resort fee. Nice touch with the eucalyptus infused towels. Pool - Two pools are heavenly and plenty of chairs to lounge in. The pool is warm and inviting. The hot tub is one of the biggest I've seen. We spent two nights here following our engagement during memorial weekend. The Don Cesar was one of the most exceptional hotels I have ever stayed in. It's impossible to miss as you drive up, a beautiful pink palace on the beach. Once we arrived at the hotel the service and quality were unmatched. The Don has recently undergone major renovation to modernize the atmosphere. They were successful. The also managed to keep the historic charm that makes The Don something special (I'm a sucker for somewhere with history). The next day we had breakfast at the bar and started drinking early (we were celebrating). The food we ordered was simple but delicious, eggs, bacon, toast, etc. They also offer a buffet which basically gives you access to most items on the menu for around $30. Generally expect to pay a premium when purchasing food/drink at the hotel. We spent the day out on the beach. The Don provides wrist bands which allow you access to three chairs and an umbrella. We rented one of the Viking King Cabanas out on the front of the ocean as we were inviting a few outside friends to come celebrate. We were served food and drink out on the ocean for about 7 hours that day. We ended the day hanging out in the pool, the hotel offers two split by a relatively new bar with an upstairs deck to get a better view of the ocean. That evening we had dinner at the restaurant attached to the hotel by the pool. We were well oiled by this point, but we ordered just about one of everything on the menu to split. The food was absolutely phenomenal. Highly recommend the flat iron steak. We finished with Ice Creams from the on-site creamery and watched the sunset from the deck above the bar. I did only give 4-stars for two reasons. One being the customer service I received over the phone the day before checking in to the hotel. I had to book two separate rooms through two different 3rd parties because the weekend was so busy (I got one of the last rooms). One was a king one was a queen. Long story short, I wanted to combine my stay into one room if possible. All I did was ask and the person I spoke with was honestly just rude. It's not what you say it's how you say it. The second reason is the service on the beach was slow. Almost 45 minutes for canned beverages. I recognize the covid labor shortage and the weekend was busy, but it was a bit of a buzz kill (pun intended). Location is great, it's 20 minutes from downtown Saint Pete and there are loads of beach bars and restaurants, some within walking distance. Overall it was a fantastic experience and being so close by we are excited to go back again. Looking for our invites to the beach club! read more

I didn't stay at the hotel but I went to the spa and the pool and beach area. Spa was amazing. One of the best massages I've ever gotten in my entire life. We also ventured outside. Bought beach chairs which were expensive. We ended up back at the pool so the beach chair was a waste of money. Pool wasn't bad thought it's not a huge pool. We also grabbed food at the pool bar. We stayed for just two nights after friends recommended the Don Cesar. We arrived right at 4:00 pm and check in was easy and quick. We did have to park in a lot off to the side of the hotel and parking was 24.00 a night. Our room was probably the most disappointing. It was small with a sliver view of the ocean. The walls and doors look like they had been painted many times and the bathroom was so small that two of us could not fit at the same time. The fixtures were old and out dated. The air conditioner was so loud and about three minutes before it turned off, each time it sounded like someone was pushing on the room door. Woke us up multiple times during the night. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. The pools and the beach were nicely kept and the outdoor bar was very nice. Drink service on the beach was good for us and didn't take long at all. Each of the bars had delicious drinks and all of the staff were lovely. I'm only giving the hotel three stars because of the price. For 600.00 a night, I would have expected much more in the way of accommodations. It was average at best and I've spent half the money to stay at other resorts with amazing service. If you are looking for a one of a kind experience for what this place costs, you might be disappointed. I'm glad we went but we probably would not return. read more

A solid 3 stars. Beautiful location... just amazing. Room was renovated, clean, and had a beautiful view. The beach was clean, private, and comfortable. Food is good (if you can get it). Ive stayed at luxury resorts and hotels all around the world. Although this place has HUGE potential, it ranks at the bottom of my list for luxury hotels. The restaurant stops seating people on sunday for breakfast at 1030am. They directed literally hundreds of people to the market to order the same exact food as in the restaurant, where there was ONE employee checking people out and told me he had zero knowledge of any of the food or how anything worked. Took 1h 45min for biscuits and gravy and eggs Benedict. No paging system. We were just told to check back every 15 minutes to see if food was there. What a great way to spend my vacation. When we got it, the to go container it came in had clearly been dropped on its side and all the food was mixed together in the corner of the container. Although delicious, it looked like slop in the container. If i were one of those people that didnt like my food to touch, it would have gone in the garbage. . Meanwhile, i noticed the restaurant still serving breakfast, yet we were turned away. Also, no where to get a snack after 11pm.. not even a bag of chips or bottle of water. My blood sugar was low and the front desk told me i had to wait until 11am the next day. I ended up going to the bar for some sugar packets. Drinks and food at the pool and beach take FOREVER. We waited 45 minutes for a side of french fries. Refills on drinks is at least an hour before you see a server again. Servers are very nice and apologetic, but it seems severely understaffed. I think there were more bars/restaurants/activities available at the hotel but we were given no info about any of it. Didnt see anything in the room either. Needed toilet paper in our room and tried to call several times for an hour to get through to someone. The phone just rang and rang. When i finally got through it was almost 2 hours before more came. On that note, the restroom near the market was completely out of toilet paper (noticed while waiting 1h 45m for my food). No one really to tell. I mentioned it to the guy at the market and he told me that wasnt his area and he didnt know who to tell. So would i stay again? Definitely. Im hopeful most of the issues are just staffing related and the hotel can fix it. Maybe next time we will just skip the food at the resort and ask for extra toilet paper at check in. read more

Great Hotel with great location at the beautiful St. Pete beach. They've updated the rooms and renovated the lobby's bar since we were last there in 2018. Absolutely beautiful result. The only complaint I might have is that the prices of the bar and Restaurant located by the lobby and pool area are very steep. $14 for a Mimosa doesn't make any sense. We would love to come here with our kids but they still have not opened the kids club. But the staff at check in and check out were fantastic! Love coming here for a small get away. PLEASE READ --DISSATISFIED We had a vacation booked the end of June coming from Pittsburgh. I booked two rooms for our family. One was luxury junior suite and it was small but nice. The other room is the one we had the issue with as it was the 4th floor balcony 442. The room was a bit musty smelling from time to time. After two days of overnight stay there were bites marks on my son's fiancés, then later on him as well. They also had an unwanted visitor found in the room the last night of their stay. A palmetto roach. At first mentioning to the front staff of the problem we were treated as liars, a bit embarrassed saying that there were indeed bug bites on both people staying in that room and no one else. "If you'd like we could get the room checked" a bit of a shrug-off while other people were also at the counter. When the roach was found, "I guess he got him" was the reply we got. After checking out and more bites appearing we had to take precautions after leaving of possible bed bugs? We took that precaution as well with our luggage's coming home. The next day I mentioned again to Jess of our incident and to take precautions if she booked that room to other guests. She said she was sorry for the trouble and she would return my call by the end of that day and did not. She credited my account a laughing $100 dollars for our trouble. (Their budget) which was found on my email but no call back or anything. I contacted both her and Autumn who I booked with still NO REPLY of my complaint by email. Overall the stay was a disappointment for money paid vs services received. WE HAVE NEVER STAYED AT A PLACE WITH PESTS AND WOULD NEVER HAVE EXPECTED THAT FROM A LUXURY HOTEL AND PRICE PAID. Obviously, if there is a situation or an incident during your stay, I wish you luck getting it resolved and you getting compensated. Arrayed as a 5 star and priced at 1,200 per night you would expect a lot better than a tiny room w a tiny bathroom with no view of the ocean for a Grand King room. Not to mention the state of the room: Mullins of layers of paint being over painted, a mushy bed that is so hard to sleep on, rusty tiny bathroom, no drawers to place your clothes and a tiny closet! This is equivalent to a beachside holiday Inn or a roadside low end hotel. Plus, everything is over priced: $6 for 2 coffee cups! And their amenities include: free local calls and 2 bottles of water in your room. The bathroom amenities are scant and there's no turn down service. There's tons of kids w families running around: think Disney. Good things: it has 5 restaurants and a big beach. I would never stay here again. read more

Signed my wife up for the monthly massage/facial membership in October for her birthday. She enjoyed several treatments from the staff, especially the facials from Olga. Then in March we were informed that not only was the price increasing, but that we could only use our membership Monday to Thursday so they can keep the weekend appointments open for tourists and hotel guests. We weren't staying at The Don, but we definitely made our way over to The Don from the hotel we were staying for the weekend to check out their pool and the beachfront. The Don certainly has that vintage feel, given that it has stood as a beacon on St. Pete Beach for nearly a century. It certainly radiates luxury with gorgeous views of the Gulf of Mexico shoreline. The Don's architecture is gorgeous, and the history behind the hotel -- the Pink Palace and all that. I will certainly try to stay here at least once, but I was impressed with the design and ambiance. The beachfront property is also quite amazing, with its beautiful views. We ordered drinks from the bar and chilled as the sun started to set. The hotel does a great job of maintaining the property and landscaping. read more

I went their for lunch at Rowe bar outdoor seating overlooking the beach. The outdoor seating is very well place and comfortable. I ordered the burger and was delicious. Also, the house red wine Cabernet Sauvignon was good. The staff is attentive and friendly. I had my coffee and desert in the hotel lobby. Very modern classic style. I highly recommend. read more

We had a spectacular time. We checked in early and our room was ready. The room was very spacious and comfortable. We took a walk on the beach right away. We were told on the phone that the main upscale dining room would be open; however, it was closed on the days that we were there. My boyfriend, packed a surprise fine dining outfit, that I was never able to see. Joanne in reservations did a good job answering multiple questions and then when we called back, we were able to book with her. She was a delight. We had a very educational conversation with Mike, Reservation Department, in person on the ground floor regarding reservations and the hotel. It is too bad that he's back at the house, with his personality, he should be in the front of the house. We had drinks at the stunning bar, and Kevin D. took great care of us. He pours a mean drink, and was very personable. We had lunch the first day in the casual dining room inside and then our check out breakfast sitting outside, which was very comfortable in the sun. We interacted with six or so staff members through both of our experiences, and everybody was very professional. On our last day, since the weather was nicer, we spent an hour or so in beach chairs out on the beach, having drinks and lunch, and then, when it got colder, we moved to poolside and had a very comfortable time there also. The beach host was very professional and the beach hostess did a good job with our drinks and lunch. I highly recommend this hotel. If you can't afford to stay, then definitely walk through the halls and read the history of the Pink Palace. read more

Surprised my boyfriend with a one night stay at The Don Cesar during our Labor Day staycation. If you've ever been to St. Pete Beach, you'll know that this bright pink hotel is a staple on the coast and makes for an amazing photo setting. Upon arrival, parking and check-in was a bit confusing as the main entrance was not obvious (based on other posts it seems that they're under temporary construction, but I didn't see this communicated in any confirmation emails). Regardless, the staff was friendly and gave a detailed run down of all the amenities. We were placed in a pretty basic room with a south facing window on the 3rd floor, the room and bathroom were very tiny but not a huge deal. The biggest inconvenience was actually the fact that the tv struggled to connect to any channels and there's no streaming options. Outside of the room the hotel had decent restaurants and I personally enjoyed the ice cream shop for a late night snack! The complimentary lounge chairs on the beach were nice and the area was quiet, not a whole lot going on considering the COVID situation. My expectations weren't surpassed by any means but I would definitely consider returning! read more

My brother and I took my mother a few weeks ago for a birthday lunch at Society. Everything was amazing from the service to the meals we enjoyed. The grouper sandwich was probably one of the best Iv ever had in my entire life. Our server I believe his name was Edner did an amazing job. He was extremely attentive and he was 5 stars all the way around. He chatted with us and made us feel like home. My friend spent four nights there and I went to visit for a day. Standard room was so small. Very tiny bathroom. Pool was pretty crowded in this pandemic. Lots of small kids running around at the pool. My friend and I had dinner at the restaurant by the pool Which was the only one was open. Food was just ok. Nothing really special. The service was just fine. We picked up an ice cream after dinner at the mini mart which was also located by the pool. This boy "Pearson" hope I spelled it right but he was very friendly, great service and did a little trick with my ice cream cup. The two stars is really just because it was a great view and good food for the work banquet my company hosted upstairs, honestly pretty unimpressed with the rest of the experience. Our room had a sliver of an ocean view which was nice, but the ENTIRE carpet was damp with several wet spots. Not sure if they steam cleaned the carpets before we got the room and didn't have enough time to dry, or if there was a larger issue, but it was not fun walking around with that. The mattress was also way too firm and pillows far too flat. As for soundproofing; pretty minimal: we could hear kids and families up and down the hallway, and then outside through the closed window too (we were on the second floor with a pool/ocean view). If we weren't there for a work event, I would've asked for a different room in all honesty. Also the cost for parking felt high ($24/per day for self parking, didn't even look at valet prices) and the amenities had very little "included" for this luxury hotel. You did get some complimentary beach items like chairs/loungers, but small things like water and tea/coffee in the rooms was non-existent in ours, and while there was an iron in the closet, there was no ironing board or surface appropriate for ironing on in the room. For the cost, we won't be back unless it's another work-comped experience. read more

We have thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day stay. Jon, Penny & Marisa at the bar were great. Dan at the bar was kind of jerky and made us steer away from him. He poured us weak drinks, then poured them into our old/previous glasses while they were on the bar in front of us. Food was yummy. Huge wedding reception happening while we were at the bar. View of a roof and storage plus could hear neighbor next door (they gave me an adjoining room). I stayed at Don CeSar about 7 years ago & it was amazing. Loved, but now...No! Now, dirty carpets, furniture has seen better days and MANY GUESTS NOT FOLLOWING COVID mask rules. I yelled at a whole family - rude. Spend your $$$ somewhere else. Recently stay at The Don CeSar with my husband and almost one year old. I am not one to give poor reviews, but I wanted to share this in case you are thinking about splurging and going to the Don, don't. Upon arrival, valet was great!! They don't have an elevator from entrance down to lobby, we came with a stroller and the team saw how much we were struggling and not one person offered to help nor did they direct us to the handicap entrance. (Which apparently is from the street) We stayed in a Junior Suite with balcony to the city. The carpet in our room was stained and dirty. Our baby crawled and immediately her pants were black from the dirt on carpet. The balcony was extremely sandy, not a huge deal, but we were not able to sit down and enjoy the balcony after our shower because we didn't want to get sandy again. During the day, We rented a cabana because it was windy and there were no umbrellas - this was about $200. (A little more than I would have liked to spend, But it was an absolute must because we have a baby and the sun was harsh). The service staff at the beach was slow (took them 45 minutes to get to us) and not knowledgeable (didn't know the menu, didn't have a menu), they didn't take our garbage after we were done eating. Overall, a really bad service experience. No room service was a bust. The front desk staff was terrible, never answered the phone when we called to request a bell cart for check out. Beautiful facility in a beautiful setting. The building itself is an architectural fantasia and it's a pleasure just to look at it from the beach. I was here for a conference and lucky me! I got to stay four days on someone else's dime. (Briefly, the conference facilities are great; the meeting rooms are elegant and spacious, and many look straight out onto the ocean, which may be a problem for the speakers, lol, since it could be hard to keep your concentration. We also got to have meals and receptions out on the fifth-floor terrace overlooking the beach and the sunsets.) The rooms are smallish but fresh and comfortable. They are plenty for one person, fine for two, but would be tight for more than that. The bed is wonderful, with an insanely thick mattress and pillows the size of Great Danes. There's a nice reading chair and the window opens a few inches, if you want those Gulf breezes. Of course, being there on a conference rate I didn't get an ocean view, but even the city view has a nice aspect of palm trees and bridges over the waterways. The room also has a mini-bar and though it's pretty full, you can stuff a couple of things of your own in there. Housekeeping was timely and thorough. Maritana Grill, their signature restaurant, was a great experience. You can reserve table seating or bar seating and there's a nice variety of seafood. The scallops were cooked particularly well. The other main dining outlet, the Sea Porch/Rowe Bar, is more casual and is fine, if nothing special. I also had a room service breakfast and thought the prices were very reasonable, considering the level of resort. The Lobby Bar has a very nice cocktail list and a pleasant atmosphere. The pool has nice lounge chairs and a huge bar. There are actually two pools, but one is frequently closed for private events/wedding functions. Both directly front the wide beach. Drink service around the pool was suspect, especially towards late afternoon, so you're better off to just go up to the bar. The beach is great for walking. North of the resort, it curves outward, so you have a nice view of a long stretch of resorts and homes as you walk. About ten minutes along is the wonderful Sandbar Bill's at the Bonaire motel, a long-standing family-owned property with great drinks, a fun vibe, and terrific burgers. It's worth the walk up. Had a great massage at the Oceana Spa. The facilities are smallish, but the treatment rooms are nice with ocean views and great offerings. I had the Sole Soother, which gets those tired tootsies in fighting shape for more beach walking. The spa also has a rooftop terrace where you can order lunch and a glass of Prosecco to keep the relaxed vibe going. Service throughout was pleasant and efficient--not at the level of Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton anticipatory service, but it does the trick. There is a bit of oddness with the elevators. They've recently installed keypads outside the cars, so you select your floor when you call the elevator. It can be a little confusing if you walk up and someone is already waiting. You don't know if they're going up or down or to what floor. I don't know the reason for doing it this way, but I didn't find it an improvement on the traditional elevator protocol that has worked fine for decades. read more

The Don is a staple in St.Pete and there is so much to do inside..... from the ice cream parlor to the outside bar pool and restaurant this resort has so much to offer aside from just white sand beaches and a luxury stay. read more

It's sad to write this review. I've been coming here my entire life and it feels more like a run down Courtyard than the Don. It was my husband's birthday so we paid for a room with a balcony and a view and the room was really run down with a view of the dumpster and Contruction. After some prompting we were moved to a downgraded room that was also run down. The front desk staff is really rude (aside from the female assistant manager with glasses) and not well trained and the original old Florida decor is being replaced by cheap tacky modern items that don't match. Ladies were vacuuming outside of our room at 3:30 AM and talking and laughing so loudly it woke me up. The upscale feel is totally gone but the prices are out of control. We spent $700 to stay one night between fees and the room. It wasn't worth $200. In my opinion the hotel should close until the hurricane overhaul is finished and new staff is hired/trained. I don't mind paying $700 if it's with it but it's a tough pill to swallow when I would have preferred to have stayed home. Lowe would be disappointed. read more

Customer Service: 5 stars: we got confused about our room late at night and called down to the front desk to confirm we were at the right room. They didn't treat us like drunken weirdos lol all kidding aside, great Customer service no complaints. The grounds: 5 stars: beautiful and well kept. The pools: 5 stars: well kept and maintained The beach: 4 stars: its like some rocky type of sea creatures in the water, wear beaches shoes! The room: 3.5 stars: the ol man felt for the price point on the bathroom certain fixtures shouldn't be rusting. Besides that, comfy beds, nice room, we had a partial view of the beach. Price point: 2 stars: its the Don, what can you say. Lol Parking: 0 stars: its a huge pain to have to walk a country mile from the parking area ($25 plus per night) to the hotel. Not worth the money. Not worth half the rate. The rooms are Ok. The beach is great. The prices are outrageous - I love nice places but I would not pay $200 to stay here. The room views are bad. The on-site restaurants and bars are overpriced for the quality you get. $14 for a tonic water with a splash of gin and a nice slice of lime. $40 for a tiny grouper piece with the smallest vegetable side I have ever had (most garnishes are bigger). It is basically Al a cart food at a full dinner cost (and no sides to order to fill out the dinner). I wanted to like this place but I will not be back. I would not stay here again for a conference or meeting. I would stay up the road where I could walk to restaurants and get a better room for my money. In conclusion - a lot of money for an ok stay at a nice beach. Keep looking and stay else where. Forgot to mention - rooms only cleaned every 2 days and no room service. No one over the age of 50 can use the elevators - so plan on helping all the elderly people (which is 80% of who is here) anytime you need to go on one (no numbers in elevator). All for $400+/night. A/c in room does not really work. Room is 72 and the a/c has been at 65 for 6 hours. The hallway is colder. I don't mind spending money - but I want to get my money's worth for it. read more

The Don Cesar is an institution at St. Pete Beach. They have a lovely location at the south end and the beach is absolutely fantastic here. I don't usually stay in ultra high brow places like this, but I do get the allure. Over the years I have had some memorable experiences here in my many visits. My Brother was married here, with a beachfront ceremony and an indoor reception. That was indeed a special occasion. In previous years I used to enjoy dining in the King Charles room restaurant which is no more. This old hotel has lots of history over it's lifespan since the 1920's , including sale to the US Government in 1942 to use as a hospital during WW2. By 1971 it was fairly run down and up to be demolished. Some forward thinking citizens stepped in and began the refurbishment into the world class resort it is today. It is a landmark at St. Pete Beach and not to be missed. If you don't come to stay, come have a drink or a meal and experience this gem. read more
