    Vegan Fried Chick
    Grace X.

Got a sandwich here for the second time and was pretty disappointed- I ordered the same sandwich as last time (vegan fried chicken) but it was nowhere near as good. First of all, I ordered it on sliced sourdough and they gave me a french roll. I also specified no tomato and they left the tomato in. The sandwich is also supposed to have shredded lettuce and pickles, they gave me leaf lettuce and no pickles. Food was still really tasty but the inconsistency and failure to follow instructions is pretty sad...

Burnt onion rings asked for no mayo got extra mayo wanted a coke got a Pepsi

Subway has better sandwiches I spent $25 for a cold tri trip ringer, cold fries and a warm Pepsi can oh and service inside everyone so busy serving cold food it's too much to ask for ketchup

    Don's Delhi Sandwich

Best casual place to fill a sandwich craving. Reasonable prices, good selection of vegetarian sandwiches, and delicious Dutch Crunch bread made this such a great place to get sandwiches. Loved the option to customize your sandwich, and especially the protein - vegetarian fake chicken or falafel into any sandwich. I tried the Dons Delhi and would recommend it to anyone wanting seasoned falafel and sundried tomatoes. Got some outdoor seating and mishapped indoor seating, so best is to pick up and take on a hike or takeout!

Almost $50 spent and they get the bread wrong. Pay more attention to orders.

I came on a day that was not busy at all, ordered two sandwiches, and they got the bread wrong. They seem more interested in joking around and cursing in Spanish with each other than getting orders right. The Mac and cheese is more like just cheese soup. Expensive, would not recommend.

    Dirty Bird sandwich

This is a small local chain serving a great variety of deli sandwiches with fresh ingredients. I had the Dirty Bird on soft French bread and my wife had the tuna and avocado on sourdough. Both were fresh and tasty. We took them on a picnic, so we didn't add anything else, but they also offer a variety of sides, chips and cookies. Every now and then they give out a free cookie! The staff was efficient and polite, and the store is conveniently located off of Saint Francis in Sunnyvale where you can eat outside on a nice day.

This is our favorite sandwich place whenever we are at downtown Sunnyvale & want to eat sandwiches. We ordered couple of sandwiches Togo during lunchtime... You can choose your bread for the sandwich and u can also opt for full or half sandwich with soup ( combo) The Pesto Chic Hot Chicken, Mozzarella & Basil Pesto w/Mayo, Dijon Mustard, Herbed Olive Oil, Shredded Lettuce, Tomatoes & Red Onions we choose on whole wheat bread. Rotating special- Horsin' Around- tri trip sandwich We choose Dutch crunch bread Both the sandwiches very delicious as always. We love their quality & yummy taste. It was quite filling very generous portions. We have tried many different flavors of sandwiches from the time they opened their doors at Sunnyvale location... it's a beautiful addition to the downtown amongst the various food choices we have. They also have outdoor seating!!!

We picked up a couple of sandwiches to-go. The quality of the ingredients was remarkably fresh and the establishment was run very cleanly and efficiently. We ordered the rotating special - Horsing around and I can attest that it was amazing!! We will be back soon!!

    Horsin' Around w/ Tri-tip
    Han W.

I've been here a couple of times and leave satisfied most of the time. All of the sandwiches come with a choice of dipping sauces, but I feel like it's not needed for some of them. I got the Horsin' Around special w/ Tri-tip this past weekend. I enjoyed the sandwich. You can definitely taste the horseradish sauce. The prices are reasonable for the area. I think I paid about $12 for a sandwich in my last visit.

    Microwaved Mac and cheese

As seen in previous reviews this place is DIRTY! I've come here a few times over the years and today was notably the worst. The seating area was dirty, and you can see in the back it was as well. Now this is my first time looking behind the counter and all of the employees make sandwiches with their bare hands ! And we're talking touching the deli meat, produce, everything. Straight from the register/back area right into touching food with no handwashing in between. I told them it was gross what I saw, and she claimed the girl making it was new, so then gloves came on. But of course it was the samething. Now they were touching everything and back to the food but with gloves on. There was another man in the back making a huge order bare hands still. Someone needs to seriously teach them how to properly handle food. Either wash or change your gloves before making food... I didn't think it was that hard. (The design is they get to hide behind that tall counter so clearly no one sees what they're really doing) Not to mention today my sandwich that I always get (the slammer) didn't taste as good, I'm pretty sure the special mustard wasn't added and was missing onions. I also went on a whim and try the Mac and cheese. Not only is it not good but I saw them microwaving it , you can see my cooked cup for further proof. They shouldn't even have it offered as a side dish. I don't know man. I'm annoyed and disappointed with the whole experience, but most importantly they need to seriously get their cleanliness in order.

Our go-to order is their Hot Pastrami on an Asiago Roll (it comes with bacon too, but we decided to opt-out). It's a hefty sandwich for what you pay for, it will leave you feeling full or packing it to-go for some goodness later! With a big change for them, we were worried the quality would have the chance of going downhill, but I'm happy to report that they're just as good as we remembered. :) Congratulations to them on their upgrade of a storefront!

It usually takes me two and a half hours but hey I get to see my friends and drop in on Dittmer's. I usually buy the smoked ham hocks because I am addicted to a Cuban black bean soup. I have tried smoked ham hocks from other sources, but the results were so bad that I threw out the soup. The only place I have found that has true smoked ham hocks is Dittmer's. I noticed the price of ham hocks has gone up. But many of the other prices have held steady. The store remains neatly organized and is spic and span. It's kind of what you would expect from a German shop. Carlo's black bean soup from All around the world cookbook by Sheila Lukins. Totally worth a 2.5 hour drive. 2 pounds of black beans Quarter cup olive oil 3 cups, diced onions Eight cloves of garlic, bruised and peeled. One smoked ham hock 6 quarts water 2 tablespoons +1 teaspoons ground cumin 1 tablespoon dried oregano Three bay leaves. 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper Pinch of cayenne 6 tablespoons chopped flat leaf parsley 6 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro leaves. 1 teaspoon salt Two medium red bell peppers, diced reserve a quarter of a cup for the garnish Quarter cup dry sherry 1 tablespoon pack of brown sugar 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice. One cup of crème fraîche or sour cream. Soak the beans overnight, drain and rinse. Heat the oil over low heat and sweat the onions and garlic, about 10 minutes. Add the beans with the ham and the water to a large pot. Stir in the 2 tablespoons cumin, the oregano, bay leaves, black pepper, cayenne, and 2 tablespoons each of the parsley in cilantro. Bring to a boil, then simmer, uncovered until the beans are very tender and the liquid is reduced by about 3/4. This will take about one and a half to two hours. Transfer the bone to a plate and let it cool slightly. shred the meat and return it to the pot. Stir in the remaining 4 tablespoons parsley, 2 tablespoons cilantro, salt, and all except 1/4 of a cup of the bell peppers, the remaining 1 tablespoon cumin, the sherry, brown sugar and, lime juice. Simmer another 30 minutes, stirring frequently. Adjust the seasoning and serve hot. Garnish with a dollop of crème fraîche and a sprinkling of the diced peppers and chopped cilantro. Eight large servings or 12 small portions.

Because. Every time I get there I just cannot not order one of these. That loaded burrito is the best bar none breakfast burrito I have ever eaten. So on a scale of deliciousness, this is an epic winner. I switch between the pistachio and coconut late because it is, again, delicious. Not too sweet (I don't like too sweet), and with plenty of that flavor. So many times have I ordered a coconut latte at other places to only have the slightest hint of coconut. Not here, no sir, these Lattes are truly flavored and flavored well. Easy parking. Open early, so I don't have to wait till nearly noon for breakfast, is just the icing on this cake. What a fantastic sandwich shop and drinks bar. I honestly thought I had written a review, so was surprised that I had not, so here it is. The place is clean. Large windows in the front for natural light. Quiet and calm. The seating is convenient and easy, although, and it's probably just me, but, my knees struggle for comfortable sitting since the table legs are in the middle of the table, so I tend to have to sit sideways, but, that's really not an issue since I'm not sitting there for hours. Hence why I stopped here one warm late afternoon despite having lots of food options in this downtown-y area. The Godfather ($15ish/5*) When I first try a deli I will usually try their Italian combo. It's a classic sub I love but honestly I find it hard to find an above average one. I'm not sure if the art of making one has been lost, but within the last decade or so, I strike out more than I get hits. Usually the meat to bread to produce ratio is off. Sometimes the meats are too salty/poor quality. Other times the sauce/dressing flavor is off. I am so stoked that I found a legit one here. They use prosciutto, mortadella and salami here, all my faves. I hate when a place uses American ham/cheese on an Italian sub. And all the meats are of quality, not too salty at all. Provolone was the cheese, textbook. I chose a sourdough roll and even though requires a good amount of teeth strength to bite off a piece and to chew, it was pretty damn satisfying. The interior is soft yet chewy. They definitely use a solid bread company. The bites were what I consider to be classic Italian sub flavors. No curve balls like pesto, red peppers or strong mustard. Just quality meats with great textures, fresh produce dressed in oil n' vinegar so it taste like a good salad. And the kicker that pleasantly surprised me were chunks of marinated artichoke hearts so this made you feel like biting into an antipasto platter just in sandwich form. So Damn Solid. Italian Sausage Sandwich ($15ish/4*). Even though solid I didn't love this as much as the cold sub. They ask what type of sausage mild or hot Italian. Chose hot, no surprise. They said this will take longer to make, like about 10 minutes. I chose a regular sweet French roll for this. Not as chewy as the sourdough roll, much softer but still has body. I liked the flavors of warm marinara with their unique sausage, quite classic once again. But the sausage they use is super thick like twice as thick as a common Italian sausage link. They do split it so it covers the bread but that sausage is one of the firmest textures I've ever had for a sausage. Sausage by nature because of the grind usually bites easily. Not here, I had to bite so hard that the meat couldn't stay in the bread. I think the casing was unusually tough for some reason. I eventually peeled it off. Decent flavors but problematic to eat cleanly. $35+ (after T&T) for 2 sandwiches seems pricey but really it is the new reality. 10 years ago this would have been about $20ish. Welcome to the new world order. Lol

It also made me question whether the meats had been stored properly, though I can't say for sure. The bread was average and didn't seem very fresh either. Maybe going later in the day means the ingredients have been sitting too long, but either way, this sandwich was difficult to enjoy and ended up in the trash.
