We found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The croissant donut was hands down one of the best donuts I've ever had! The apple fritter was also tasty! But here's the thing... the rest of the donuts were not good. At all. We got a dozen and tried a few of their other options, and I thought they were dry and flavorless. So, if I were to rate the individual donuts I'd give the fritter and thr croissant donut 5 stars. The rest of the cake donuts, yeast donuts and bars were not that great. We did not try any of their huge dessert-like donuts though so I would go back again to try that. read more

Omar, the owner, is one of the nicest people you'll meet. A customer of his was in hospice, and Omar personally drove a dozen of his donuts to her daily. The donuts and fritters (made with honey) are the absolute best in Denver. Callers to "The Restaurant Show" (on the radio at AM 1430, Saturday 11-2 PM) including me rave about this place. I have been coming here for years. Normally the gentleman at the front are incredibly kind and accommodating. The poor customer service I received today was RIDICULOUS. My poor Grub-hub delivery driver called me as they were out of the item we ordered. I could hear the woman SCREAMING on the other end of the phone. Cali g him names, telling him to leave, and he simply would not help this poor man. All he wanted was another option to provide me with and instead she degraded and made him feel so incredibly small. Staff- This place is AWESOME! I have been going here for over 3 years and every time I go in I have my boys with me. If you have ever brought kids to a donut shop, you know they can be indecisive. The owner, his son or the baker are there and are always friendly, patient and greet you right when you come in. Selection- Normally going into get donuts anywhere, you will need to get there at 7 am for a good selection. Not here! They always have a great selection and if you want filled donuts, they fill a-la-cart. The bear claws are exactly that. HUGE and amazing. Quality- The donuts are always fresh...always. No matter the flavor or type they are all fresh. The various flavored icing they use is great and never to bland or gritty with sugar. Value- While the price of what your buying varies, we usually get the bakers dozen for $11.99 and the large donuts are .69 cents each. I am not a frequent reviewer, I tend to only review things that really impress me. I walked in with my 4 year old daughter and 3 year old son in the middle of the afternoon. There was still PLENTY to choose from. Each child picked something bright and sprinkly while the very kind owner helped me pick out a dozen to take home. He was so kind and genuine. We talked about his family and raising kids and he was absolutely interested in talking to my kids. When he found out we were out running errands because my wife was home with the newborn, he got excited and put a couple freebies in the box for the new mom. As we munched away on a couple donuts, other customers came in which he greeted by name. This guy was the real deal. The donuts were fresh and delicious, much better than any of the chains that can be fond locally, and with a much wider selection. We're not a family that eats a lot of junk food, so when we do we have to be selective. And as soon as this current box is gone, we're going back - and this time bringing my wife. read more

I love donuts and have tried many places (all over the US) with mediocre results (VooDoo, Glazed and Confused, Lamar's, Winchell's, Dunkin, Tim Horton's, King Soopers, etc) and I am always on the hunt for something better. Last night my wife and I stopped here on a whim and picked up a half dozen. Like most other donut shops it looks unremarkable from the front, but once we got inside you see that that have a better selection than many places. I tried a peanut-maple cake donut. It's a standard flavor, but something about it was better than others. The dough seemed a bit more substantial and fresher than other donuts. The raised-glazed was similarly delicious/better. My wife had the same reaction. The donuts are long gone, but we are already craving more, and even though this place is a bit of a drive from our home (~7 mi) we will definitely be coming back to the Donut House. read more

I found out about The Donut House one day while driving passed it on my way to drop off my roommate at the airport. I made a mental note to drop by on my way back, but I got lazy and skipped it. Anyone who has read my previous reviews knows that I'm always on the hunt for a good donut in Denver, so knew I'd have it one of these days. Well that day was today. The Donut House is down on Parker and Peoria, next to the Wendy's and it's got a big "DONUT" sign above it. There is also a white van parked next to the entrance to the parking lot with a red arrow pointing toward the shop, so you can't miss it. I walked in and saw the typical donuts on the display case, 3 tables with a single chair separating them, and my friend chatting it up with the employee behind the counter. I greeted them both and quickly scanned the display case while the employee asked me about my day. As I was looking at all of the different variety of donuts on the display case I was a bit disappointed in their lack of creativity. In San Francisco, I visited a place that put whole strawberries in their pastries and I had a donut with bacon! I'd just like to see that kind of spontaneity and courage somewhere in Denver. So I settled with two cinnamon crumb donuts, a chocolate bar, and a maple bar. I really liked it when I asked for the donut bars and he asked me if I'd like them filled. They fill the donuts in front of you and I really like that. So after ordering my donuts I moved on to the coffee which is the 8 o Clock brand. It's free serve, so seemingly you can get free refills if you so desire. I sat down and started with the cinnamon crumb donuts which were kind of crunchy on the outside and warm on the inside. The chocolate bar was all soft and good. The maple bar was great too. Overall I thought these were good donuts and the bars were appropriately sized (not the monstrosity that can be found at Lamar's), but still not on par with anything I've had on the west coast. The Donut House is a nice hole in the wall place and it's very affordable. The employees are very friendly and helpful. It's open very early (before dawn) and it's open much later than other donut shops. I can see myself coming back often to get my donut fix. read more

Omar is the owner and is really just as nice as everyone is saying. Depending on what you like, they have pretty much every kind of donut you could wish for. He will also put filling in your donuts right there. Omar told me his favorite is the old fashioned and they really are divine with a cup of coffee. The blueberry old fashioned is out of this world. What a great place. Simple, old fashioned and plenty of choices. We were fortunate enough to try a fresh, still warm glazed coconut and chocolate glazed peanut toped donuts. We also tried a cherry fritter and that was so good, extra crunchy, gooey and fried yumminess. We'll be back soon enough. Give it a whirl if you need a doughnut fix.
