Small place and nothing fancy but who cares, the donuts are bomb. The cronut was the best and I am drooling thinking about them right now. We also got an apple fritter, Bavarian cream filled long john, a chocolate cake donut (not a part of the 4 pack) and the bear claw. All were so good and my hubby and I are now fans for this place. The Donut House Castle Rock sent me a text on July 11 that clearly stated: "You earned Free Half Dozen for your last visit." No exclusions, no fine print, nothing. I went in to redeem it and ordered an apple fritter as part of that free half dozen. Staff refused, saying the fritter was not included. Calling something a "Free Half Dozen" with zero restrictions in the actual message, then restricting popular menu items after the fact, is false advertising and highly misleading. When I'm in town, this is my place for doughnuts!! The service is always helpful, patient and friendly. The doughnut selection is a great variety. They fill the doughnuts as you order them and they have a variety of fillings. Today they had mango and blueberry too. Do the math: each base doughnut is $2.50 each and $1.00 additional to fill. So you only get a discount with more than 12 doughnuts. So just order the doughnuts you want if you aren't looking for a full dozen. read more

I tried their glazed donuts and oh my god I am not for glazed donuts BUT these were the best glazed donuts I've ever had. They were fluffy and soft and yet Krispy and not too sweet like you're regular krispy creme or Walmart donuts. Truly amazing. I also had a maple one and it was really good as well. I can't wait to be back and try their legendary chocolate donut as I hear it's amazing!!! I'll go a little earlier next time lol. The gentleman at the counter was very nice and suggested some of his favorites when I mentioned I've never been here before. Wonderful customer service. He said it's been slow that morning. I got the old fashioned glazed and tried a croissant donut which was new to me. The only problem was that the donuts were ice cold when I got to my car to enjoy. So sad!! Nobody wants an ice cold donut! I re-warmed them up and the old fashioned was wonderful but the amount of oil in the croissant donut made it melt like pudding and got flat like a pancake. I'll come back and try this again and pray they are as good as they look, and that they come warm in the future!! read more

Down in Castle, rock for another sporting event early morning. Decided to try the donut house once again. This time got another raised Mabel in a traditional glazed. The raised maple hasn't changed too heavy of a donut great flavor, but still too heavy of a donut too thick step up from a donut at the grocery store. However, the traditional glazed light fluffy very good. I'll give the glazed the four. Why don't they just use the same recipe they use for the glazed for their other raised donuts? read more

There are not a ton of local donut shops locally, but Donut House seemed to be the most recommend. The donuts were pretty good, but I've had better at multiple other donut shops. What really struck me in a negative light was the store front itself and the staff. I went in on a Sunday afternoon and an employee was just standing in the doorway looking at me. I greeted him and he stared at me, mouth open wide. I walked past him and didn't see anyone else. A minute or two later another man came out to help me. But it was uncomfortable and weird. The shop itself felt filthy. The menu looked like it was falling apart. It looked like they googled images of donut and picked the most generic photos to add to the signage. Like I said, the store felt disgustingly dirty and like they hadn't cleaned in months. The store is not inviting and I wouldn't want to eat in there either. I won't be returning. read more

The last time I went the girl that took my order had that poor me look when I put my change in my pocket without leaving a tip. If I were to eat them at one of their little tables and have a coffee I would leave a tip, if I'm getting an order to go no tip. People have forgotten that tips are for a service, boxing up donuts isn't doing anything special to get a tip. I love the croissant holes and most times I get a dozen with my donuts however $3.50 for a doughnut is over the top so I wont be going back....even though I can afford it I still don't throw my money away. I understand that these small businesses need to survive, however fleecing the customer isn't going to get you the repeat customer that will keep your business afloat. I love fritters .... and I judge any donut house by their fritters just like I judge Mexican food places by their chili rellenos when available. Christmas Day; 2022. We stopped off at the next door restaurant that we always do because it open on Christmas and we drive from out of town and hungry by lunchtime. After eating lunch as we always do traveling up for our family Christmas get together, I thought I'd like a fritter because our car was parked right in from of The Donut House. OMG..... even after eating a meal at Damascus Grill right next door ... I loved this fritter! I didn't finish it.... I was full from lunch and on my way to a family Christmas dinner in Denver. I only got 1 cherry fritter.... fritters have been my benchmark of a good bakery for over 60 years, and now it's Dec. 26 and I'm eating the leftover fritter as a snack. I'd normally leave a picture .... but I didn't have the chance to take one before it disappeared.
