Besides a wide variety, menu, they're most famous for their Friday night, fish fries, and Saturday night prime rib dinner. Dover Inn is open seven days a week and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My daughter and I went for the Friday Fish Fry with high hopes, but our experience was identical to some other reviews here, where non-locals are ignored while others are accommodated. We waited for a good fifteen minutes and were never even acknowledged, much less greeted, by anyone. We got the message and won't be back. You've been warned. read more

Barely an average fish fry for this Wisconsinite! My husband had blue gill and he said it was dry b/c it was over cooked. His boiled potatoes were good and he liked the coleslaw. I on the other hand, thot the coleslaw lacked taste, very bland. I had the hand-breaded shrimp again bland! The potato pancake - again bland. Excellent example of a true Midwest supper club. We went here on a Friday night and despite being crowded, we were seated right away and had excellen, fast service. The fish fry was very good. So was the broasted chicken. About the best potato pancakes I've had in a long time. They make a very good old-fashioned as well. Worth finding this place. We will go back. read more

The food was a disappointment. It used to be so good here but tonight it was dry, overcooked, and barely seasoned. The service was fair. Cheese curds were very good. Downhill from there. Ordered a medium rare cheeseburger which arrived very well done and inedible. Notified waitress who was "afraid" that the cook would yell at her if she asked for a replacement. Finally got a replacement which was also very well done with no fries or garnish. Don't know whether this was on purpose or just sloppy cooking. Seems like Dover Inn does not make customer satisfaction a high priority. read more

I honestly can't believe this place is still open. Maybe they pay off the health inspector. I was there recently giving the Dover inn one more chance. When we walked it absolutely smelled terrible. My friend ordered the steak sandwich, that was the fattiest piece of meat I have ever seen. I ordered the tacos. The ground beef was so dry, like trying to eat saw dust. The tortilla chips were not even edible. So stale a dog wouldn't eat them. My glass was dirty as was my silverware. I don't think cleanliness is of top priority there. After my first visit here last year (4 star burger) I decided to stopp in for a burger, after going to Hippie Tom's Spring Fling. I was expecting another delicious burger today. Kaitlyn couldn't have been any sweeter, but the cook dropped the ball. Half the burger was well done the other half was rare and the bacon was rare. She did bring me out some new bacon, but it certainly isn't the double smoked that they advertise on the menu. Not quite certain I'll make this an annual tradition to stop in here. We went last night. My guest had the Cajun baked fish. She likes really spicy food and she thought her meal wasn't spicy at all. I had the fish combo and I loved it. This is like a blue collar, old time Wisconsin, fish fry kind of a place. I like it. You'll get locals, bikers, a few kids or ball teams once in a while, and drinkers at the bar at the Dover Inn. I've been here a couple times because it's close to home. But I refuse to go back. Not because the food isn't good it really is everything I've had has been great but the service is absolutely terrible. If you're not a regular it seems that you're not very welcomed here. The times I've been in, nobody welcomes you, you kind of just have to sit down where ever and wait 15 minutes for someone to greet you and take an order. French onion soup was very strong, and the pumpernickel bread was a nice touch. Yelp success!!! Found this place on Yelp looking for bar food and it did not dissapoint. Burger was great. Juicy. Huge and done just how I ordered. The side of fries was more than I could eat. And I can eat. Not only was my meal great but all the food that the other people at the bar had also looked super appetizing. It was exactly what I was looking for. Tavernie feel with friendly locals and staff that cared. The place looked well cared for and clean. Music playing was perfect. Good old 70s rock and not too loud to where you couldnt have a conversation. I will for sure be back!! read more

Wanted to try a fish fry on the 1st Friday this lent season and wenr to the Dover Inn in Dover Wisconsin. Arrived at 4:45 and we were seated right away. We were told Sherry was our waitress. We ordered beer battered cod, mine with the red potatoes and my wife with french fries. We asked for additional tarter sauce and our waitress said she get some. That was the last time we spoke with her until after our meal was done. The fish had no taste, my red potatoes were over cooked and mushy, my wifes fries were mushy as well. Never got the tarter sauce, never asked if our meal was ok and never got a beverage refill- we both had soda, Our waitress was busy at the bar talking to patrons. Speaking of the bar a female bartender could be heard above the music using the "F" word as well as other profanities. We paid our bill and left never to return. read more
