Otis, the owner is a joy to talk to. I did have a long wait but talking to Otis the whole was very enjoyable. When I got home and discovered my beans and mac and cheese were not in the bag Otis drove them right over We tried everything on the menu except the 2 things you have to order in advance. I loved the sausage and mac and cheese and the beans are amazing! The slaw was good but needed salt and the pork and chicken were moist and flavorful. Very good and the only good BBQ in the area. I would skip the peach cobbler next time. Not inly was it too sweet( not something I ever experienced before) But it was just a wet sloppy mess when we tried it to go. Lovely people, but this is the worst barbecue I've ever tasted. I ordered a brisket plate and literally every piece was 50% fat. Not marbled fat - just a big ol' fat wad accounting for 50% of the slice. The non-fat 50% was as dry as boot leather. Ridiculous. Your rub should not be "black pepper, and more black pepper, and more black pepper." I like black pepper as much as the next guy, but I've never had as much in my mouth as this place offers. The owner told me he came up from Texas. My guess is he was banished for crimes against meat. When ordering a plate, you get two sides. Cornbread is not an option. (Weird.) I got peach cobbler and it was fine. Cole slaw was okay, but lacking seasoning. Mac and cheese was not my cup of tea, but it wasn't inedible. It's fitting that Big O's is in the same building as a funeral services company because this is the place where barbecue comes to die. read more

Went here because I had received a coupon in the mail . The food was amazing! Best bbq I have ever had ! Ottis the owner explained everything on the menu. He was very knowledgeable about what was on the menu. He was also very friendly and outgoing . We had the chicken, pulled pork and ribs with the 4 sides . He explained to us that everything was made in house which was a bonus and everything was made that day . Everything tasted fresh. The service was also amazing we were updated on how long our food would take and when it would be ready . I highly recommend this restaurant. Went to Big Os twice in a week with a friend and had the brisket sandwich. On the first visit, the sandwich was excellent. However on the second visit the brisket sandwich was about half fat. After extracting most of the big chunks of fat, there wasn't much meat left. My friends chicken sandwich was good from the first visit, but on 2nd visit had the sausage sandwich which wasn't very flavorful. So, this place can be hit or miss. Ordered the brisket sandwich, once you removed the fat there was not enough meat to make a sandwich with my very thin smooched bun. Got the ribs , 4 small ribs and one rib only had a little piece of meat. The mac and cheese is just buttered noodles with some kind of seasoning sprinkled on it. Where's the cheese ! The workers here are lovely, but the food is just not good. We waited 45 minutes for our food and paid $45 for 2 people. We each got 2 ribs with barely any meat on them, and a small fatty pile of pork. The only sauce was bottled sweet baby rays, which was a let down since most BBQ places make their own sauces. The peach cobbler used canned peaches and was cold, and the coleslaw was hot, I think they had it too close to the heat lamp. Truly wanted to like this, but it was really bad. The whole place could also use a good deep clean, especially the back kitchen we entered through accidentally (the signs point to the rear of the building to enter.) read more

The food is truly Texas barbecue. It's difficult to find such authentic Texas brisket in the Midwest. Big O's has done it. Brisket is perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Tried Big O's for the first time yesterday & was very wowed! Service was top tier, as the employees were exceptionally kind and friendly. When we parked at the wrong entrance, an employee directed us through the building and made lovely conversation with us. He even offered us drinks on the house. The inside of the building was painted with awesome murals. I can't wait to go back and sit inside next time, as we had to take the food home for carry out. I only had the brisket and whenever I would eat it it would taste like I ate a mouth full of pepper I'm not sure if that's his signature rub but I wasn't a fan it was too much pepper.
