What a serene and lovely oasis Dragontree is! My massage therapist Meredith was absolutely incredible!!!!! I highly recommend!

The Dragontree Spa has gone downhill lately. It's unfortunate because it has a lovely atmosphere and I used to love going there. The staff make all the difference and that seems to be the problem. Coincidentally, both of my favorite massage therapists have recently left. I will say that most of the massage therapists I've had there are very skilled and deliver a quality massage, which is why I still give 2 stars. For a spa of this price ($110/hr) I really do expect more from the reception service and overall cleanliness. On my last two massage visits, the locker room was messy and dirty cups were in place of fresh water. The steam room was unclean, crowed and needed more upkeep. It's a very small space for the lockers/showers/bathroom so don't expect to spend much time relaxing in there. Although these annoyances had become a regular thing, I looked past it and invested in a gift card for a friend. This is where the experience goes south. It's always disappointing when you're greeted at a classy establishment by a very spacey person with a rude attitude. On the day the gift card was purchased, the receptionist was confused about everything and seemed too stoned. She was not pleasant to talk to and seemed annoyed about splitting the cost of the gift card between a credit card and cash. We asked her to write the amount on the card so it was clear, which she did. She also told us that my phone number could pull up the gift card in case it was lost. I was told I would be emailed a receipt, which I never received. The gift card was placed in a branded Dragontree gift bag by her and we brought it directly to the recipient. A month later, On Mother's Day, my friend came in to the spa and had a nice couples massage but then went to use the gift card and was told it had already been used. Upon further investigation by the manager on duty, Liz, my friend was told the gift card was invalid. I was contacted during brunch, not by the spa manager, but by my friend herself trying to figure it out. I ended up calling in to the spa and paying a second time over the phone, giving my credit card for the full amount, just so my friend could get out of there and back to her new baby. We were treated as if we had stolen the gift card! I know for a fact that I went into the Dragontree location on Pearl St on 4/14/17 and was led to believe I purchased a gift card, putting $70 on my credit card and the remaining $40 was paid in cash from a friend who was with me. My suspicion is that the receptionist with the bad attitude never ran the credit card transaction and pocked the cash, as their records show no gift card was purchased at all that day. I have a witness who split the gift card with me to attest to these facts and our friend had the physical gift card still in the gift wrapping. I feel robbed by this establishment and completely embarrassed I introduced a friend to be treated that way. I hate to see this happening at such an outwardly nice spa and it saddened me to write this because I am a regular spa reviewer and I will not be back to the Dragontree or ever recommend again to anyone. There are many nicer spas in Boulder so don't take the risk. I will update this post in regard to how this matter is resolved. read more

I called and specifically asked for a combo of services that would give me a "two hours" on the table experience. I wanted a 90 minute massage + 30. Example, dry brush would do this, other add ones were within the 90. I received two accurate confirmations, one for 30 dry brush, other for 90 Swedish. During the service, I was often distracted by the therapist negotiating all of the covers, and felt there was not seamless finesse. Then, after 60 minutes of the massage, done! I asked if she was aware that the massage was to be 90. Apparently she had misunderstood. She offered to keep going, but at this point the spell was broken and I was feeling pretty stressed. I left. Thought I would relax in the steam room, but it was ice cold, and it would take too long to heat up. When I checked out, the desk person had been advised of the mistake, which the therapist owned, and although I was offered a discount, he was not at all compassionate about my dissatisfaction and stress from the mistake. He said something to the effect, "well, mistakes happen". This type of mistake should never happen. I recommend effective communications between the reservation system and the provider. I left angry and stressed, and will choose other alternatives going forward. read more

Today I have a foot bath and massage (walk in) service for the first time. I enjoyed service but because I didn't do my homework about service menu on Dragontree website before I came in I didn't know there are combinations such as fresh feet so I was just charged as regular foot bath $28 and massage $43. If they have told me about combinations I went for it too. Are those combinations NOT available at the Boulder location? Foot massage by Ryan was 5 stars! Yesterday I had a 90 minute Swedish massage at Dragontree Spa. I give the entire experience an uninhibited A+. I was massaged by Megan and she was excellent. She was kind, patient, and very knowledgeable about muscles and the body. I practice ashtanga yoga which includes a lot of muscle building, so I appreciated that she was able to stimulate circulation, work knots out, and tell me a bit about what causes them. Plus the hands and face part of the massage felt soo good. After we were finished my body felt so happy and at peace. Also, Dragontree has a steam room and after my massage I spent time in it relaxing. Dragontree is a beautiful and peaceful spa, and in the restroom they have everything you might need from hair brushes to elastic bands to cleansers. I loved my time at Dragontree and will definitely return! read more

This spa was wonderful! Came in to get a 20 minute Head, Neck, and Shoulders massage and my only regret was not getting the 30 minute one. To start- the receptionists were nice and welcoming. Nidhi was my therapist and in those 20 minutes, she made all my stress and worry melt away. The energy work she puts into the massage not only helps with the physical pain, but helps facilitate a more healthy and relaxed mind. I highly recommend her. My sister in law and I did the "Heel to Head Heaven" treatment in the Sangha Room - totally worth it! We climbed up onto elevated couches, were handed mimosas, and large copper bowls of hot water with oils were brought out for our feet. While our feet soaked, our heads, shoulders and necks were rubbed. The masseuses then went to town on our feet. The experience was great! We arrived 30 minutes early to sit in the sauna as well which was also nice ($10 extra). I hope I make it by again next time I'm up that way, but I do have some minor critiques in the mean time: The first is regarding the changing room. It is VERY small and hard to change with more than two people in it. Secondly, larger robes and towels should be supplied or offered. Third, the front desk area is pretty noisy considering it's next door to the Sangha Room - a space that should be peaceful and quiet. The relaxation was periodically interrupted by loud talking through the sliding door. read more

Ever since my boyfriend and I spontaneously treated ourselves to massages at The Dragontree Spa, I have been dying to go back. This was by far the best massage I've had in my life. You immediately feel pampered upon walking into the spa. The staff was extremely friendly and explained the spa amenities to us and offered us tea and other refreshments. My masseuse made sure I felt relaxed and comfortable with the pressure at the start of my massage, which was greatly appreciated. My boyfriend and I walked out feeling happy and refreshed. This was one of the best surprises during our trip to Boulder and I cannot wait to visit again soon! read more

Okay, first things first: Chris is an amazing masseuse, has done wonders for my screwy body in just a few sessions, and you should go make an appointment with him immediately. Second things: I really like what the Dragontree is going for. They've clearly put a ton of effort into their decor, their products, and their staff. Everyone is pleasant and friendly and speaks in that spa-voice, that low soothing tone, which is very nice, and they've put a lot of attention into the little details that make you feel cared-for when you're out for your pampered day. A few examples: all the products in the showers smell amazing, they've thoughtfully provided little things you might forget like cotton balls, Q-tips, even hair-ties, and they've clearly thought of the needs of people who might need to go from the spa directly back to work or some other occasion where they need to be presented properly, because there are also things like hair dryers and products and spray-on deodorant. Security is excellent; they have little lockers that don't require a key, just a code that you make up on the spot, and inside is a very luxurious spa robe, a hairbrush (another thoughtful touch), sandals, and a fresh towel. The waiting area is very nice and has books of interesting, spa-type things, like holy sites around the world, rather than the usual selection of gossip magazines, which I think is rather nice. I'm sure there's some subliminal thing going on when you're reading up on the Kardashians before your massage - that'd stress anyone out. (But if you do like to have a certain kind of reading material, you might do well to bring your own.) Tea and water are of course readily available, along with what amounts to classy trail mix if you need a bit of food in your belly. Here's my one and only complaint, but it is big enough to merit dropping a star: the place echoes horribly, and while all of the staff very courteously keep their voices down, for some reason this quietness doesn't extend to whatever activities they're engaged in. My first massage, I think our room was next to some kind of storage closet, and half my massage was spent listening to someone in that next room banging cabinets open and closed and shoving things into them. The next massage was spent listening to people rolling carts for foot soaks up and down the hallway, and some kind of other activity I couldn't identify (sounded like chalk dropping on the floor, some rummaging? No idea, but I spent quite a while trying to figure it out). Now, of course you can't eliminate all noise in a spa this size, but considering how well they do everything else, I'm really surprised that they haven't - at the very least - put down a runner in the hallway so the floor doesn't make as much noise when you roll something on wheels over it. That would also cut down on the echoes and the footsteps. I have no idea how one muffles sound from adjacent rooms, but "not banging doors and cabinets" would go a long way for my enjoyment during a massage. It really is an echo-y place, and every noise is amplified, and I think there are probably fairly simple ways to address that problem. All in all: great staff, lovely decor, thoughtful touches, will and do recommend - but please, Dragontree managers, do something about the noise. read more

I am a fan of Dragontree, the Ambiance and the overall vibe and intention of this place is Palpable! Minus 1 star for making it difficult to select a practitioner. :-( I'll admit it- I'm picky. What can I say- I've traveled around the world, met some of the BEST healers and body practitioners out there. I once had Thai therapist completely re-align my hips and knees in ONE session. (I was walking duck footed and in after one session I now walk straight- 2 years later and I'm still good.) I'm also intuitive. I know energy. I get "downloads" when I can at least* read a bio on a page. A therapist can be "AWESOME" but not necessarily a match for every person. I can't tell much when I hear that "Jane is good," or "Joe is pretty awesome." WHO are they? What is their specialty??? EVERY therapist has a modality they are better at or emphasize. So, I've met some really 'good' therapists here, but I'm still on the search for who's MOST in tuned with MY body. The reception isn't much help for narrowing it down. They seem to always recommend who's soonest available, and they often have this look on their face like "I'm not supposed to say who's my favorite." It's understandable. It would be putting them in an awkward position to ask "Who's the BEST for deep tissue" for example. They can't *fairly* send most people to the same practitioner/s. So that leaves me to- it's up to me. If it's up to me, can you make it easier? If it's about the practitioner's privacy or protecting your brand/business, then maybe you don't include last names on your website? But pleaaase, I want to know WHO I'm getting booked with, beyond just a name. On the site, I can only click on ONE person's name which pops up to a bio when trying to set an appointment. Only one person has a bio? Anyway, I think at the price I'm paying, I'd have the right to know the Background of my practitioners. Maybe regardless of the price? Almost every practice I see out there lists the therapists, who they are, what they love about their work, specialties, etc... Le Sigh, this is a frustrating part of booking. Feels like I'm going on a "blind date." But instead of a blind date where we just have dinner- they're gonna massage me- even if the vibe isn't right, I still have to go through with it. :-/ Sigh, ok, I rest my case. Address this part Dragontree, and I'll give my 5 star review plus come in more often! P.S. Just an idea- out-of-the-box. Maybe some greet-and-meet for practitioners? Obviously NOT called "meet and greet," it would have to be more creative sounding. Maybe a crazy idea but I'll still throw it out there. Thank you! read more

I have been going to Dragontree since it opened last year (very convenient since I office across the street). As a message and spa junky, I think Dragontree rates up with best (not just in Boulder, but anywhere). The quality of the people working there and the vibe is simply a step above everything else in Boulder. The foot soak room is by far the best place to relax with friends in town! I agree with AW below, the membership (with the steam) is simply a must have if you are even remotely close to downtown. read more

I really like this holistic day spa in Boulder on Pearl Street. From the outside you have no idea how beautiful it is on the inside. It's really warm and cozy and just incredibly well done. The prices are right on par with with you get here - and you should take advantage of the cool space if you get a treatment - make a day of it! If you want something on the cheaper side, but most definitely something to treat yourself, get a foot bath for 30 minutes. It's a great way to rejuvenate in a short period of time. This spa was born in Portland and came to Boulder (how fitting) and it is definitely a must-go for your next massage, facial, etc.... I think it's on par with St. Julien but less expensive. Not only did they get my sister in last minute for a foot soak and 60 minute Swedish massage together, but the kindness and attention to detail from the minute we walked in was outstanding. My sister suffers from anxiety and had not been able to stay calm during a massage for years- Kathleen and Brittney were unreal and we had the extra CBD oil added - I left so relaxed I couldn't talk, and my sister was wanting to book again- proving her anxiety whose boss! I've been here about 3 times so far and I've had a wonderful experience each time. Arrive 15 minutes early to enjoy a nice steam. Take a seat in the waiting room and flip through a picture book while sipping a refreshing glass of cucumber water. Hungry? They gotchu with that trail mix. I typically opt for a Swedish massage but decided to treat myself the most recent visit. Opted for the Dragontree Massage which includes a foot soak, aromatherapy steam session, and an hour long massage. Choose from an array of essential oils for your foot bath, all equally relaxing. The aromatherapy steam session helped settle me into a more tranquil state of mind, in prep for my massage. Julie is a talented and adept therapist, working out my difficult knots in both shoulders and giving me tips on how to stretch out my tense muscles. I go once every month or so, I always look forward to the indulgent visit. I highly recommend stopping by for a brief respite from the daily grind. read more

The ambience here is so lovely: a gently trickling water fountain, dim lighting, exotic decorations, and calm music. I chose the relaxing aromatherapy massage, and it was pure bliss. Rosalie was such a skilled, considerate massage therapist. My husband received a massage from Nicole and also said it was amazing. The massage itself was good. My experience after the massage spoiled the massage, for which I paid well over $100. In the shower, the water pressure was non-existent, the water never got warm, after 3 minutes of waiting for it to get warm I had to take a cold shower to get the shampoo out of my hair. The towels provided were stiff, rough, and scratchy. So much for my relaxation. So, my experience overall sucked. I was not going to say anything, but less than 24 hours after my massage at Dragontree Spa I received an email wanting me to buy their various products. Thus I wrote to the company telling them how awful my experience was, want my money back. Gift from kids, still want a refund. Said I would wait a day for a response before posting this review on their site, as they requested a posting of my review. Ending up waiting a week, NO RESPONSE AT ALL. The first time I went to the Dragontree was right after they opened last year. They took care of me from start to finish. The atmosphere was great, not overly girly or feminine. The lighting and music were very relaxing. The massage nearly put me to sleep. The therapist had perfect pressure. They were tough enough to work out all my knots but still keep me relaxed. I thought this was a one time experience but I went back last week for a head-neck-and-shoulder massage. After running the Bolder Boulder, I had cramped up my calves and was pretty tense all over. The therapist, Laina, gave me a foot-massage along with my head-neck-and-shoulder massage. She specifically asked me what hurt and I told her my shoulders and calves. Since it was a "foot" massage I never expected my calves to be touched but Laina started there first. By the time she got around to my shoulders and neck, I was out. I was walking without pain for the first time in a week when I left the Dragontree. I never thought a head-neck-and-shoulder massage could be so great. I was just trying to not spend a lot of money. I used to think big hotels had the best spas and gave the best massages but the Dragontree blew all the resorts and hotels I have been to out of the water. I don't normally write reviews but I promised myself after the last massage I would give this place the credit it deserves. I have been really impressed. read more

My absolute favorite day spa and go-to whenever I can schedule the me-time. Divine ambience, I am in love with the Mediterranean oasis they have so intricately created. Fantastic service menu. I try to always schedule a foot bath and massage at the minimum. Definitely book a foot bath, it's a great way to begin your service and the room is beautiful. Excellent customer service. Awesome experience at The Dragontree Spa. I received the Day out of Time package as a gift while I was traveling to Boulder. I had been to other spas a few times for single treatments - maybe a massage or facial once or twice a year as a special treat. I had never done a full "spa day" so wasn't sure what to expect. This package is the full works - I received an incredibly relaxing 90 min massage, a wonderful foot bath in the Sangha room, along with a super delicious spa lunch, and then a 90 min facial. They really take care of you in the Sangha room with warm neck wraps, comfy chairs, and perfect ambiance. I was sooo relaxed. In between treatments I spent time in the waiting area, which was beautiful, quiet and relaxing. There's always water available everywhere, and the staff were very friendly and professional. I think my favorite part was the facial - the aesthetician really knew her stuff, recommended some things that helped long term, and did some treatments I'd never had before that were awesome and helpful. I would definitely return, and recommend the spa to anyone in Boulder. read more

I gave three stars simply because of the lack of clear and consistent communication regarding my reservation for a party of 9. I was disappointed that I was originally told that reserving the sangha room would be $150 and in the next email was informed that it was actually $225 for an hour. Additionally, I had been told we could arrive an hour before our sangha room treatments and then we we arrived at that time was told our treatments weren't for another hour and we needed to wait. Again--unclear, inconsistent, and contradictory information. The services were great, however, and the atmosphere was exactly what I wanted for our relaxing spa day celebration. read more
