I don't give out 5 star reviews unless they're truly earned. I had a main line clog late Sunday night. I did my research overnight and called two companies first thing in the early morning. One was too busy to do the job right away and the other was the Drain Co. The plumber arrived at the stated time. He worked his butt off, went beyond the call of duty, but equipment failure led to his demise. The guy deserves an A for effort. Thanks man. An hour later, another plumber arrived at "The Drain From Hell". Ramon was a true professional, confident he could clear the mess which had already claimed one victim. As he worked, he explained the possible causes for the backup, he also began offering alternate solutions if his first attempt was unsuccessful. There were times when I doubted him, but in the end he looked at me with this confident smirk, and said, "there it is." Dang Ramon did it! All I could do was smile with joy. I can't say enough good things about Star and her team. The Drain Co. is absolutely great. For years, our main drain would get backed up. I knew the problem, but just never wanted to pull the trigger to get it done. We had roots break through a big junction just before the city drain. Three to four times a year, I would have to destroy a pair of waders to snake the drain. I finally said ENOUGH. I called several companies BEFORE I called Drain Co. and each one gave me a list of "steps" I needed to do. 1st, get hydro-jetting done. Cost around $400 - $1200 depending how long they need to go. We were about 45 ft. So more like $1000.00 2nd, Only after hydro-jetting, run a camera to see the problem. Cost $600.00 and that depended on whether the hydro-jetting got all the gunk out of the way. So now we are at around $1600.00 and "IF" they say we need to sleeve or replace the drain, the average cost would be $5,500 ON TOP of what we would be already paying. So all in all, we would have spent around $7k. It made no difference for me asking straight out to give me an estimate for replacing the drain. I knew what the problem was and it could not be "PATCHED". It needed to be replaced. I kept looking for a company. I came across The Drain Co. They were the ONLY company who came in and listened to what I was saying. The guy who came knew exactly what I was talking about. When I told him what other companies were estimating and what they wanted to do, he knew I did not want the same estimate and even agreed. He said I would have an estimate within 24 hours and I did. In my email the next morning was an estimate that was not only EXACTLY what I wanted, but less than the other companies. The estimate was $4900.00 AND that included a clean-out up front in our yard for our RV at no additional cost. When they came and did the job, I saw the junction where the roots were coming out of. What a great local business that everyone should support! I spoke with a very friendly woman (I'm guessing the owner Star) who said she could have someone over within the hour. True to her promise, 40 minutes later, George was knocking on my door. I had two issues: 1.) a tiny leak at the base of my toilet, which only required tightening of the screws and 2.) a clogged and leaky sink, which was snaked and fixed within 10 minutes. Not only that, George cleaned up all of the mess and didn't even charge me for the toilet. $55 for the entire visit! I'm still blown away as I type this... With my husband out of town, I was worried about being taken advantage of and being overcharged. Not only were the prices way lower than what I was expecting, there were no sales pitches or upsells. George was very professional and super friendly as well. I'm so glad I found this company on Yelp (and thanks to all of you Yelpers for your recommendation!) I was taking a shower and heard the drain gurgling in the toilet, then the water in the shower would not go down. Treated it with all the chemicals I had and called The Drain Co. They sent Joe who was available right away and he was the nicest plumber ever. Even my German Shepherd loved him. Before he was able to do anything, the drain suddenly cleared and he was so sweet not to charge me. I was very impressed with such quality customer service. I have called The Drain Co for clogs for many years and have always received excellent service at a reasonable cost but this last trip definitely confirmed why I use them over and over. They are the best in the business for clogs! And Star is truly a "super star" owner as well who takes a lot of pride in helping all her customers! They are okay for minor fixes or clogs, which I have used them for in the past and they seem to dispatch help quickly. However, when water is coming from a mystery source, technician did not seem to have the energy, creativity or parts on truck to solve. In an emergency, I spent around $150 to have water turned off AND the technician neglected to put the cover back on the curbside water valve box -- which could have been a disaster for someone if they had stepped in the hole that night. Luckily, I spotted it and put the cover back on. read more

I have intentionally not read any of the other reviews as I wanted my review to be untainted. We had a plumbing issue that we had already done some preliminary investigations including with an "inside" plumber (sort of a friend of the family). We were told that we needed to have a plumber with the "large snake" machine to go deeper into our plumbing system. Yikes. Always ultra-paranoid about being ripped-off, having padded billing, and knowing that this issue might be milked to the tune of a few to several hundred dollars than the "proper" pricing, we did more investigations to find a sort-of inside plumber, calling friends, etc. No go. So, I had a staff member just "find someone" and be on top of them as to pricing from the get go. I had heard of a competitor of this company and said "perhaps" call them but I heard that they can be "pricey." I needed this work done, however, immediately (kitchen sink backing up dirty water). I was away from the home (my home office, where I do most of my work) and I periodically checked in. My staff had been given the instruction at 8:30 a.m. and by 10:30 a.m., the plumber was already here! Working! And before 11:30 a.m., the job was done!!! Too good to be true. "How much did they charge you," I asked with notable scepticism and worry. "$75." "What??? Did they snake out the property???" "Yes." "With the deep snake that goes way into the pipes???" "Yes." I was already on my way home and I was thinking that either this was a total rip off, or, this company must be a VERY HONEST company. We had called them cold, from the internet, and we were nobody but a passing customer. I sort of raced home, really, with a bit of urgency (hard to believe, but true....). I called my employee again, "Start running the dishwasher.... I want to see if it backs up." "Okay." I called back, "Is the dishwasher running?" "Yes." "Any issue yet?" "No." I arrived home. Dishwasher load finally completed (yesterday) and no issues, including the second real run last night. I asked staff, "where's the receipt - are you sure that it was not $475 or whatever?" There actually was hesitation - perhaps in reality as to why I was so obsessed with this issue. I took it to mean that maybe she paid more than $75 (gave a credit card so perhaps did not pay attention). She showed me the receipt. It was indeed $75. I am a business owner and I see myself as one of these honest ones and I know it can be thankless and it comes from an internal morality, and is not done only for the others as much as some people are just honest, and it is the way we have to be as our own path. This was telling. I have made sure that I put this company on my contacts. They don't know me but I am smart enough (not a genuis) to know a stand-out honest company when I see one and The Drain Co folks, whoever they are, are operated by MY type of folk. Two months ago I called The Drain Company out again to do my normal every six months router job. Recently, I realized that they were in the same business to business bartering group I was in. I had barter money/credit with the "club" and now it was time to use some of it. When The Drain Company found out I was paying with the club money, they DOUBLED my rate. When I called Star about the situation she made excuses and flat out lied about doubling the price. I lost all respect for her. It's bad enough that she's an absentee business owner who when I call her says to call the office. I assume she's too busy to relay messages to her employees. I've always ignored it. Now I'm fed up. I don't like being taken advantage of. Two months after the work,I found the receipt to scan into the computer. There on the invoice was $135 scratched out and then "ITEX $270" written next to it. There are plenty of plumbers who do router work for $60, I don't need this kind of hassle. I'm easy to deal with , I AM A REGULARLY SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE CUSTOMER. Being the nice guy that I am, I even called them two days ago and got Vickie in the office. I told her about the past and how frustrated I was, but I was going to give them another chance. See, I read the business cases about customers who stay with companies that wronged them as long as that company made it right. Vickie said she was going to call Star who was out of town (I've never ever heard of her actually working in the office!) and get back to me. It's been two days. No call back. Fantastic service. Maybe a smaller group, but they try harder. Called this morning to schedule an appointment and they got here within 3 hours, same day this is really good. Anyway, they remembered us from some 3 years ago and jumped to the issue right away and went to my roof clean out and did the work in about 30mins. They charged a little bit more because of the roof issue, but I previously asked 2 other companies on Yelp with super high ratings and they won't even go on the roof, something about liability insurance. My plumbing emergency came late on a Sunday night (is there any other time they occur?). I called The Drain Co, they explained that if they came out right then it would be double time, so we made arrangements for them to come first thing Monday morning. Her technician was there right on time the next day. He cleared the problems with our bathtub drain and the back-up that had occurred in our main line. The funny thing was the cost. All day Sunday, I was driving with a friend who listens to KFI. I was inundated with commercials advertising "Any drain cleaned, $99". The lowest I heard was $95. The cost per drain was significantly more reasonable than that, and I really appreciate the great service and excellent price. read more

I called the Drain Co to clear an upstairs shower drain. Not a bit of water had drained through it in hours and hours. I feared tree roots and the costs charged by Rotorooter and Readyrooter. Yelp came to the rescue with many companies rated 5*, but I liked the Drain Co with more than 70 of them. I learned that the Drain Co was a family-owned business since 1969. To me that meant it had plenty of time to earn a reputation, good or bad. Today they earned another 5* rating and future customer for timeliness, competency and honesty. Robert, the Drain Co. tech, told me that tree roots would be unlikely in a second- story shower, and went to work. In less than 10 minutes he and his snake had cleared the blockage (hair balls!). I feared a bill similar to those of the nationally known rooter companies. The Drain Company's bill was $65. What more can you ask! read more
