Superb experience! Great service! Would hire them again for any plumbing issues. Mario, George and their team were the most honest, friendly and hard working plumbers I've ever dealt with. We wanted to re-pipe to have a laundry hookup in the garage and these guys delivered big time! I just moved to Burbank and didn't have any leads on good plumbers for this kind of job. I resourced to Yelp and I gave calls to the top rated plumbers in the area... Drain Defender was on top of the list and now I know why! The initial phone call was smooth and they offered to send someone to do a free estimate right away. Mario arrived right on time the next day and he talked to us through the different options we had, pros/cons, budget options, etc. He found a great solution for us and gave us a quote that fitted our budget. This guy knows his job like no other and was really honest about pricing and the different options we had. I never felt at any moment that he was trying to upsell me anything, he was really honest and clear at all times and it's something that I really appreciate from a professional in this field. I decided to go for their bid on the job and I'm very happy I did so. It was a 3-day job and Mario and his crew arrived on time every day, something that is hugely important. They were really respectful, friendly and all in all a pleasure to deal with. Mario kept communication flowing greatly at all times and I was aware of what they were doing. They had to break cement on my backyard to run the line to the garage, which may sound a little bit scary, but... They did an extremely clean job and made sure it all looked great once the hole was covered. I'm really happy with how it looks. Also, after each day of work, they gently covered the area where they were working, cleaned up and saved their tools out of the way to come back the next day and resume the job. I think that the job turned out to be a little bit more complicated than what they initially thought, because a section of our house still had very old cast iron connections and they were not in good shape. Mario and George were a class act and where any other company would have tried to raise the price and charge more for hours/materials, they stuck to the initial quoted price and re-piped the old connections (even though that was not included in the initial quote). I felt that in all the moments Mario and his crew knew what they were doing, they came prepared with enough workforce and all the tools and materials they needed. They worked their asses off, were incredibly professional and didn't complain at all when things got difficult or tricky. Their follow up is excellent and they even snaked our line to the sewer for free. Mario and George are the best plumbers in town. Looking for an honest plumber who does good work at reasonable prices? Look no further than The Drain Defender. Co-owners George Lanier and his son Jordan are an exceptional rarity in this confusing world of needing help in an emergency. I initially went to the well known named company (RR). The first company I called (RR) before The Drain Defender came out and snaked my line without freeing it up, and it cost me $408 to find out where the drain was clogged with no relief to my problem. But on further research I decided to go with a company with more reasonable rates and plumbers who did not work on a commission basis. I asked friends for references from work they had done, and was directed to a contractor and former plumber who had retired. He was the trusted person who referred me to George Lanier of The Drain Defender. When George arrived to assess my plumbing problem he was immediately reassuring and put me at ease telling me he would take care of my plumbing problems so that I would not have to worry anymore. Right away I felt an empathetic bond with him as I felt he was sincere. He tried for a long time to snake out my line without success. Then he ran his camera probe down my line (that had cost me $408 with RR, who agreed to apply it to their work if I had them do it) to find the stoppage point, at no cost for either the snaking the line or the camera probe. When he came in significantly lower than my first quote with RR, and which he included an access flush out installation that RR didn't offer, I decided George was my man. The more we talked the better I felt about him. After the work was completed I was so impressed by his professional work and demeanor and by saving me hundreds or dollars I took him and his wife out to dinner (Jordan had other plans and could not join us). We were expecting about 20 people for Christmas dinner on Thursday. On the prior Saturday, our sewer line backed up. George ran a snake through the line, and then a TV camera. Horror of horrors, there was a break in our sewer line where it connected to the city's line; he said we--not the city--was responsible for it, and that could not possibly have our dinner as it was without big problems. They would have to get a city permit, break into the street, and dig a large 5-foot deep hole to get to the connection; then they would have to replace the connection and fill the hole with a poured thin-concrete slurry, and fill in the top with about 2-4 inches of asphalt--all to the approval of the city inspector. It would be a 2-3 day job. George explained it all to me, and assured me it would be done before Christmas. It was expensive, but, it was a big job that included subcontractors, and I felt that the price was reasonable for all that had to be done. They did the job in time for our Christmas dinner. It was cleaned up each night, and at the end. I felt the job was done very professionally and as promised. And we had a fine dinner, with guests that included a family of six from New Caledonia. It was all very enjoyable, and problem-free. I did notice that one of the workers, broke my hose where it connects to the faucet. I told George about it and he paid me the cost of a new hose, with no comments or questions suggesting that they hadn't really done it. Also, when he came by to pay me for the hose, he snaked out my kitchen sink line at no charge. If I ever need plumbing work in the future, I will always call George Lanier at The Drain Defender. I had a back- up in my 2 toilets at 11:15 PM. I was very fortunate to pick Drain Defenders out of my yellow pages telephone book. There were 16 pages with listings for plumbers. I called George and he said he would be at my house in 45 minutes. He arrived with Mario and Jordan. They searched the property for an outside drain. They took the toilet off and tried to snake out the line but suspected a problem with the sewer.. They left at 1 AM and said they would be back in the morning. The sewer under the house was broken as was a portion under my front lawn. They replaced the sewer from under the house to the sidewalk. The area under the house needed to be sanitized and cleaned before the plumbers could replace the sewer. There must have been 8 men and 4 plumbing trucks one day but they all knew what to do. The work was completed in 2 days and approved by the city inspector. Three weeks later, there was a back-up in my showers and bathtub. I called George and he used the camera to look from my new sewer to the city's main sewer. There was another crack in the sewer. George told me that it would take 4 days to complete the new sewer from my property to the city sewer. This included getting city permits, replacing sewer lateral on public works, back fill, replacing asphalt and final approval by city inspector. I would highly recommend George and his team. Drain defender deserves SIX stars. We had a simple toilet flange replacement, and made the mistake of going to a company (Rooter Man) that wanted to charge us $1800!! A toilet flange replacement would usually be $350 or so!! I didn't realize the scam until they started the work. When I saw them unnecessarily hammering out a large area of concrete, I knew it was a scam. All they needed to do was remove a couple inches around the flange. I called George at Drain Defender after finding him on Yelp. He had the best reviews so we gave him a try, even though he was far from us. George at Drain Defender agreed $1800 was an exorbitant fee, and suggested we pay them to stop the work, because he would only charge us about $750 to replace the concrete they hammered out and fix the rusty flange. We paid the offending company, RooterMan $350 to abandon their work and leave. George at Drain Defender wasn't available that day, so he arranged for the work to be done by a trusted associate. Well, the next morning, Drain Defender's associate came out and did the work for only $575, which was $175 BELOW what he initially quoted us. We were so relieved. I live in Burbank and enjoy many of us, I had a clay primary line that has been cracked and shrub roots were CONSTANTLY getting in and causing a blockage. Several years ago I had the lineup jetted by Reliance and Purchased a 3 year guarantee which saved me a ton of money since the jetting could not fix the cracks in my pipe and every 3 months they had been back out there to snake it out.A little over a year ago my warranty ran outside and I had to get my main line replaced so I received a few bids. George was known me by my neighbor and even though he was $500 more expensive than my normal man who was cheaper but I would have lost 2 days (my weekend), I had to deal with being unable to utilize the pipes and had big hole in my lawn.I chose to use George since he stated he'd do it while I was at work and take action trench less so that my lawn would not be torn up and he'd come out a year later and inspect / snake outside the line for free. We put up an appointment, he called prior to showing up and he did EXACTLY as he said he'd do.Since I just replaced the line in my property, I'm susceptible to origins in town line but I haven't had any problems at all, that is a HUGE relief for me and my spouse. These guys are really great! Old school customer service, with attention to detail and pride in their craft. We had a bad leak in our kitchen line that went to the sewer that was causing a major bad smell. I contacted the office for DD and George called me back within 30 minutes. He came over to the house a few hours later and crawled under the house in our very small crawlspace to accurately access the job and give me an accurate bid. When he told me the cost (part of which was the cost to clean the mess from a 2nd party vendor) I was a bit taken back. George gave me his best price and did not bat an eye when I said I needed to think about it overnight. He never pressured me to make a decision and to me that is worth it's weight in gold. The next day I called George to hire him and he helped us get a very fair deal from a restoration company. We have been in our Burbank home for 30 years and would need to rooter our pipes at least every two years. Our shower and tub and toilets backed up! Ugh! We contacted The Drain Defenders via the Yellow Pages ( yes, believe it or not) and worked with George as he unclogged our drain. George was great, caring and professional during my entire project. I called him Saturday with a blocked main sewer line, he took the time to come out immediately. He temporarily fixed the line so we could use it, until he came back the following day. George arrived on time with his crew who were friendly, polite and informative, the entire time they worked on my sewer line, which had roots and a piece of concrete in the line that was used to seal clay pipes back in the day.
