Whats the point on going online to schedule an appointment when it gets rescheduled 2 times. I scheduled an appointment for 10:00 am a week ahead. 3 days before I was to go in, they rescheduled it on me without asking me for 9:00. I didn't mind. Then a day before they called me asking if I can go in after 11:30. Seems like they put someone in my spot. Then when I canceled because I couldn't make it, the lady that answered the phone thought it was funny to inconvenience me. This is not how a business should be ran. Found Chani on Craigslist and I was very pleased with the overall job. I got a quick weave styled in a bob. Pros: - Chani's mom owns the shop. It's nice being at a family owned shop - everyone was very friendly. Including the other patrons - Chani is talented and does a variety of styles. Cons: - parking. You'll have to pay for parking before 6 so you may have to run outside a few times to add money to the meter. - small shop. The shop is homey. I initially gave a 5 star review because I believed Peaches and Ericka had the best intentions for my hair ... the day before I actually got a few dreads I had a consult with Ericka and naturally I thought she would do my hair . Next day when I came to get my dreads put in and i bought Ericka a Thai iced tea it became clear to me that Ericka was not going to be available to do my hair because she just started doing a whole head of dreads on another client . After waiting for about 40 minutes (without an update at all) the shop owner Peaches had me sit down in her chair and stated bluntly , "what do you want ?" And I had already consulted with Ericka the day before and so I thought I had already painted a clear picture about what I wanted and Ericka stated she understood and was confident that I would be a happy customer . It may be true that I didn't know exactly what I wanted as I just knew I wanted dreadlocks and I counted on The dreadlocks salon specializing in dreadlocks to give me some direction and some information and a positive outcome . Needless to say I have lost more hair in the last week and a half and have spent more time on my hair in the last week and a half then I have over the entire year ; my heart kinda hurts about it because she put 13 dreads in @ $25 dread and i tipped her super well to show that i value her work . I wanted dreads because I thought it would be more simple to care for and that is just not the case at all with the dreads that were put into my hair by Peaches at this salon . Of course I had my doubts about the quality of the dreadlocks as I was sitting in the chair but again I didn't know anything about dreadlocks so I was giving the owner of The dreadlocks salon benefit of the doubt that maybe the dreadlocks just look that way in the beginning and then they improve over time, however a week and a half has gone by and my hair has been a major source of anxiety and my psych has taken a hit because i was so super loving and genuine and that place was all fake and phony . I unfortunately conclude that I was viewed as "easy money" and a "silly little girl" and I was taken advantage of because I didn't know any better . Shame on them . Definitely lessons learned and I am more wise in life . Since this experience at The dreadlock Solon I have went to several other salons and they all agree that this salon did me wrong . I will spend my weekend taking these dreads out . I forgive this lady and the salon of course ; in the end I am ultimately responsible ; I'm the idiot that tipped her $84 to put 13 wads of knots in my hair and not provide any information at all as to how to care for them . read more

Well, first of all, I have to say I found this place just by Googling. So thank Google and Yelp for sending me to the right spot and getting it right. I needed a change. I had dreadlocks done like 4 years ago, by one of my aunt's neighbor and although I didn't hate them, I always thought that I should have gone with a professional, so this time it's what I did. Right on my first appointment Peaches sat me down, and asked me kinda what I wanted to do. How thick, and if my hair was color treated and if I wanted just some or the whole head. I told her the whole head, and she gave me an estimated time that it would take and an estimate pricing which she respected all the way through. I asked about the extensions and she gave me all the right information that I needed. I made a 2nd appointment in 1 week to do the extensions. I am a Mexican male in my 20's, btw. You can tell it's a family business 'cause you start hearing how some of them are related and they make you feel right at home. They're the most friendly and funny group of girls you will ever meet. (They even got me hooked on a show they were talking about, and we ended up watching some episodes while doing my hair) The whole vibe of the place is just positive. I really enjoyed that I felt comfortable the whole time there. And I was there for a total of 17 hours almost between both sessions. So shout-out to Peaches who took care of me from the start, Erika, who did most of my regular dreads, and Symone, who did most of my extensions the 2nd time. It was an amazing job, and though it hurt like hell... hahaha and I was expecting it, the results were exactly what I wanted. I've been getting nothing but compliments on my dreadlocks all day. I came here for over a year trying my best to support this place but the amount of waiting and time spent on one appointment is too much. I can forgive maybe 1 or 2 times. But if the stylist is an hour late, or your hot water is out, etc. Tell us before we get there. Angie was my stylist for a while but between her really negative attitude towards her own co-workers and the clients I just couldn't go to her anymore. It really shouldn't take 4-5 hours to do shoulder length locs. And 7/10 I had to just go without a style, because she complains everytime about how it "takes longer". They plan to send you some cryptic email with an "undisclosed" location. Which I never recieved. Multiple calls led to a voicemail box that is full. They dont return text. If you are not African American and want dreads then RUNNNNN AWAAY... as fast and as far as you can from peaches. I can only speak for us but my husband is filipino with long wavy hair. We did a lot of research beforehand and knew exactly what to expect when we left there. What we expected wasn't even close to what she gave us. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that she knows what she's doing when it comes to African American textured hair but she definitely doesn't know when it comes to regular wavy hair. After our experience, I will go to guess that some of these dread pictures on here that look good were not started by her. Possibly maintained, although I doubt it, but in no way started by her. Her method was a combination of backcomb, twist and rip, and crotchet. That's why they come out looking like loopy dreads. If you know anything about dreads, they shouldn't look like that. We came home and took it all out the same night and ended up dreading it ourselves. Save yourself some heartache. If you do end up going here and have the same experience you should post a review, I can't even believe she's still in business. I don't have an issue paying and paying very well for a service but I absolutely expect you to provide the service that you are advertising! Don't take my word for it, do your research and even PM some of the good reviews and see if you get a response. My son was badly injured by a barber at Peaches shop. He's a minor child, his face is cut up on both sides dramatically and it burns and itches. Peaches the owner has been ignoring my calls, text, and emails and when I called from a blocked number she answered (p.s. never apologized once) she displacing the blame saying, "How do I know this even happened at my shop after admitting to knowing which barber my son sat with 12/30/21. Then she gets upset and very unprofessional and says she's calling her lawyer since I told her I reached out to an attorney who said ask for her insurance information easy fix for injury and pain and suffering. Nope nothing she refused to cooperate and then abruptly hung up in my face. Sad too because as I told her she's one of my favorite beauticians and I'd never expect her to run away from her responsibility. Imagine if this was you or your child she needs to be sut down and boycotted. The last time we were there two of her sons had a really big fight leaving 3 people badly bloody and sent to the er including one of her innocent stylist who was just there to pickup her check. Her sister sliced her finger off after whipping out the sharpest biggest switch blade I'd ever seen in my life so now I'm blaming myself for taking my boy back there after that. I was in a rush and was running out of time and needed my locs twisted my main guy that does my locs was booked. so I came across this shop. I called they were very nice and was able to book me that very same day. However when I got there all I wanted was to get twisted and styled. Wash was great BUT when It came time to get twisted Peaches barley twisted my Locs and it looked like my 3 year old nephew did my hair! my style was not what I was asking for my edged were snot laid down and WITHOUT ASKING ME SHE TOOK LINERS TO MY HEAD AND SHAVED OFF THE HAIR SHE DIDNT TWIST!!!! I found myself taking my hair down as I was walking to my car bc I felt that I could have done my hair myself. The ladies in the salon are very friendly, and the vibe is pleasant, which is what I appreciate about this business. The two times I received services (loc maintenance) I left very pleased about my hairstyle. Unfortunately, I've been quite challenged with the online appointment booking process. Seems as though sometimes confirmation emails are sent and other times they're not. This wouldn't be a huge deal if stylists were able to be contacted via phone for confirmation but this has proven to be almost impossible. My other disappointment would be the fact that my appointment times were never honored. Both times, I either had to wait for stylist to return from running errands, wait to be fitted in between other clients, wait for hot water to warm up, etc. And both times, I spent at least 5 hours there, which is completely unacceptable. I will not return, but I do recommend this establishment for anyone who has hair care needs and nothing else to do...in life. read more

I chose Dreadlock Salon because of YELP STARS... but my experience is different. DREADLOCK SALON is a tiny establishment with a grander automated system that makes them UNREACHABLE by phone. I sent my mom there for a consultation and palm roll maintenance. She received one of these services as I was charged for both and a 20% tip with a 10 min. window to discuss the tip option. It was an email with the disclosure of 24hrs response commitment. Tips before SATISFACTION who does that! !! 20% is presumptuous for 1st time visit! The stylist were easily distracted by a Salesperson during my mom's visit. Even though my mom was cared for... I will NOT send her again. One star is being gracious. read more

Six stars if I could. My hair was really overdue for a retwist and I couldn't get it done before I left Knoxville cause of my often insane work schedule. Yelp came to the rescue as usual and I called to make an appointment a few days before my scheduled trip to San Francisco. The owner of the salon was super super nice and helpful in scheduling me. Unfortunately I was delayed in the airport because of the polar vortex and had to reschedule my appointment. I got the same sweet response and prompt rescheduling as soon as I called back. The shop was pretty easy to find for a San Francisco/Oakland novice. The name on the outside of the shop is different (something along the lines of Glamour but my memory fails me) from what is on Yelp but the address will lead you straight to her. The store is nice and open with lots of natural light. It was also very clean. A young man was just finishing his locs when I got there and they were very gorgeous. There was a young lady training(?) who washed my hair like a boss pretty much as soon as I walked in the door. I really was overwhelmed by how sweet and kind Peaches was. She got my hair twisted promptly and told me all these amazing stories during the process. It was easy to tell that she genuinely cares about what she does and about her customers. She did a fantastic job with my hair and had me ready to go in no time. Not empty handed though, I was armed with tips on how to keep it maintained myself. I had a very positive experience. They did a great job on my hair, I had no issues with the finished product. My issue was I had a appointment at 11:30 am and the person scheduled to do my hair did not show up until 12 pm. Even after she got there other people were serviced before me. Long story short, I was told the appointment would be at 11:30 am - 2:00 pm. Finding Peaches was like finding gold -- such an awesome, hidden gem of a find you almost want to keep it all to yourself, except I can't keep Peaches in my pocket and would rather tell everyone and their mommas about her! Peaches and her squad are amazing! They all have great personalities and for long sitting sessions as you can imagine dreadlock-related work is, trust me - it makes a difference whether you have someone who can't carry a conversation vs Peaches and her crew who just make it happen naturally. I wasn't bored or miserable for one second of my overall 10+ hours I spent with them (first session 3+ hours, second session 7+). Peaches works so quickly and really gives you your money's worth - for such a great and efficient job, she should probably get even more! Totally worth it! Peaches and Angela did most of the work on my locks. Those two are amazing.. and hilarious! Never a dull moment! Such bright, positive spirits. I could hang in that salon and chat all day if I could. I had an excellent experience here! The owner is very professional and did an excellent job on my locs. I came in for a wash, retwist, and to get it pulled back into a ponytail. She really knows how to connect with customers and make them feel comfortable. I was the first appointment. She did a long wash (much longer than other salons have done, which I appreciated) and was very fast in retwisting my locs. The only downside was the dryer took a while to really dry my hair (perhaps because I am shorter stature and the chair for the dryer is a bit low. She did offer a pillow to boost me up.) This added a significant amount of time, so I'm glad I'd not come in on a tight schedule. The shop was well kept and run. I saw folks of every color and creed coming in for her styling expertise. Even when I called to make my appointment I could tell that this woman was experienced, professional, and awesome. I will definitely be returning to this salon for loc maintenance. The price was astoundingly affordable - I had expected some outrageous price but it was very good. I look forward to returning! read more

Very disappointing. I booked an appointment online, then called immediately and spoke with someone to ensure that it was okay that I would be arriving 15minutes late from a prior Appt. I was told that was fine. When I arrived sign on the door said their location had moved. I called and texted and no one bothered to answer or even ever call me back.
