#3 Combo. Red Snapper, 3 dumplings, plantain $15.50

Very legit food that I deliberately travel from Manhattan for. I think the best way to start the day is with fish. We'll talk about how to end the day proper, another time. They serve a good portion size entree. Their plantains are good and they have fresher protein selections than others. The service is friendly, and the place is in a highly accessible area next to a major highway. They do have a smallish parking area, and street parking is very limited. Keep that in mind and call in your order if you know what you'd like in advance! Don't forget to order your drink!!!

Caribbean food on point! Love everything in here! Cheap as well! Location: It is located in Baychester, Bronx. The interior is okay. Didn't stay here, just order and go! Service: no interaction. Just order and go! Food: Everything was so delicious and good! FRIED CHICKEN: crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, damn i can eat whole box! So good! JERK CHICKEN: the sauce on the chicken is so delicious and perfect amount of spice! Comes with fresh veggies! OXTAIL: damn this is my favorite! Huge serving and the oxtail was cooked perfectly! Price rating: 7/10, the price matches all the deliciousness! Not bad for all the goodness. I will be back here to try their Ackee! But get the oxtail if you can! So delicious!

Heard a lot about Thai place but never got the chance to visit because am not in the BX often; I happened to be about ten minutes away from the restaurant and made it my business to check them out; COVID measures are in place, hand sanitizers are available as you walk in and masks are require for entry . I got the fish fritters, dumpling and a drink. The fish fritters are amazing, soft, fresh with a nice kick of peppers . I wasn't impressed with the dumplings but they were good. I got a natural beet, ginger & sea moss drink that was ok.

Food is great but be careful of the overcharged price if you are dining? They almost double the price on your order for dining in, charge a credit card fee when we paid with cash. When ask why they was a big difference in price we was told it's because we are receiving fresh food. I would believe everyone is supposed to get fresh food. We wasn't even giving the chance to fully tip because they charge it per item for service for dining in. For example jerk chicken was $13 if I order it to go and was charge $18. This should be said before dining that you will be charge for service on your bill automatically if that's the case. Which would be fine but let them customer have the option first.

If you've read many of my recent reviews, you'll see that I'm new to the Bronx area. Never heard of this establishment until my boyfriend recommended it. At the time he first mentioned it, it was called Dumpling Shop. One weekday morning, we decided to run in for breakfast. To our surprise, the name had been changed to "The Dumpling Cove". Its a very bright, modern, and beautiful establishment. I believe we went in at about 7am and even then, the line was growing. Service is quick, easy, and courteous. The main thing I loved about this place was THE MENU. Not only is it brightly lit, displayed appropriately with pricing, but the actually sell value meals. At a typical Jamaican restaurant, they might nickle-and-dime you for items that would otherwise, make a complete meal. Not at Dumpling Cove, you get a full value meal for a decent price - its called the "dumpling combo". The menu features a wide selection of Jamaican favorites (breakfast, lunch, and supper) and they had everything available for purchase. When we got to the register, I opted to go with the Callaloo and saltfish meal (Yes, I said a meal). My boyfriend got the ackee and sailfish. With the meal, you are offered a choice of fried or boiled dumplings; many shops I've been to before typically charge you extra for such items. If that wasn't offered, I would've protested that their name be changed lol. I also purchased some saltfish fritters on the side. I absolutely loved my callaloo and sailfish. It tasted as if I back home in Jamaica; The fish was fresh and cooked well, and the dumplings were light and fluffy. My only complaint was the excess amount of oil. By the time I got to work (15mins away), oil had leaked out of the brown bag and into the plastic bag. There was oil everywhere and my hands smelled like fish. It would've been nice if they could prevent that some way or drain the food when portioning out for the customer. I did not like the saltifish fritters, they were spicy and contained too much curry seasoning. My boyfriend loved his meal however, he had the same excess oil. Cons - only con was the lack of parking. It gets packed in this place and parking is slim to none. Be mindful of double parking as well, may be best to have a partner tag along. Otherwise, I will be returning and recommending to others.

Service: 10/10 The employees were very friendly. They were kind and had a nice smile on their face. That is what customers should be looking for when being approached by waiters or waitresses. They were very helpful with the menu option. Food: 10/10 I started with their hot chocolate with whipped cream. Man! It was delicious. The whipped cream, by the way, is optional. It does not automatically come with the hot chocolate. The texture was just right. I picked a good day to drink hot chocolate. I have also ordered their standard Belgian Waffles with a side of sausage. I have to admit, I was slightly disappointed with the quantity of the waffle. They only give you one. Additionally, you'd have to ask for the butter. Butter does not automatically come with the waffles. The syrup is or at least should already be on the table once you're seated. Even though I only got one waffle, it was delicious. Furthermore, you have the option to add whipped cream to the waffles. They will add the whipped cream to the waffles for you. The same can be applied to pancakes. When all is said and done, they will offer you a blow-pop lollipop. Overall 9.5/10 I will be back. I am unsure if they do reservations. It wouldn't be surprising if they did. Their menu options and pricing were reasonable.

This place was an amazing find for us. It looks like, and kind of feels like, a diner, but it's so much more. You cannot order a fresh carafe or pitcher of sangria with the fruit in it here, which is what I was expecting from a place headlining sangria. So your experience of the Sangria Cafe for sangria will come down to whether you like yours fortified. I like my sangria freshly made to order with just the wine and chopped fruit, but you may have a better experience at Sangria Cafe if you prefer fortified sangria. So the Manager, Elios, was superb. He told me he would let me taste the red, white and lychee versions to see which one I preferred. Given they are all fortified to an extent, I chose to order margaritas. I prefer mezcal margaritas, but they did not have mezcal at the time. So I went with the tequila classic. It was good and I had it to go for my evening at a cigar lounge. I also ordered food to go: the French cut pork chops with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus and the braised beef short rib with small potatoes and broccoli. Here's a twist: the food was better than the adult beverage at a place emphasizing the latter. At all times, my server, Hector, was superb in his own right. Service is probably the strong suit at Sangria Cafe, followed by the food. The French cut pork chops taste like they have been marinated or at least brined. You will eat these down to the bone and you will pick up those bones to clean them. The garlic mashed potatoes were great too, but the asparagus was a bit overcooked. On balance, this $30 dish was satisfying and would have been better had they included a little gravy on the side for the mashed potatoes. The beef short rib at $38 was even tastier. I appreciate the chef took the time to get a good cut of short rib and trimmed the excess fat down to a leaner cut. The meat is inherently marbled with fat, so the flavor is already going to be as present as the savory tenderness. If you dine at a restaurant where there is excess fat on the beef short rib, know the chef there is not putting in the work to trim all that fat. Coudos to the chefs in the Sangria Cafe kitchen for their trimming work. This is even better than the pork chops and you'll savor every bite. The broccoli was overcooked here, so the chefs could restrain themselves on the cooking time for the veggies. The small potatoes were perfect and what is not to like about marbled beef and potatoes. Here they have a little gravy with cooked onions to add to the savory pleasure. The Sangria Cafe is a great place to come with friends. This place will see lots of action as the weather warms. The atmosphere is upbeat and the music is in full swing. This is a Latino and Afro Latino crowd. The kitchen and service are very good here. Perhaps I'm in the minority preferring nonfortified sangria, but I wish that were an option with the chopped fruit in it. Perhaps the majority prefers the fortified hit, but it would be nice to have it more relaxed with just the wine as summer approaches or at any time of the year. Please keep the mezcal in stock as SOP for the mezcal margs. Thanks to Elios, Hector and the chefs in the kitchen. 3.5 stars.
