I went in last week and my date and I were immediately greeted with a welcome shot. Neither of us drink so we politely declined. After, I ordered a mocktail and some food. Instead of a cocktail, I was served a cocktail. I am 3 and a half years sober. I had a sip and then had a panic attack and had to leave. My date still had to pay for our drinks and appetizer. I emailed the restaurant later to let them know what happened, and I have yet to get a response. I get mistakes happen but when you're a restaurant you have to be so careful with alcohol. And to not even send an apology email back, it's disgraceful. read more

I have no idea why this place is highly rated. Highly priced is about it. You basically have no service. Want a drink, walk yourself to the bar, get a mediocre bloody mary and get charged 20% service automatically. Want to order? You can only do that on your phone. Want to pay? Well you can do that on your phone also. I am fine doing this at Chipotle, but Chipotle doesnt automatically add 20% to my bill for service. I suppose The Duplex does have someone walk the food to my table. But I am not sure if that is worth $4 per entree (since everything here is at a high price point). Food itself was mediocre. It was crowded, so I suppose it is an "it place" right now. But save your money for actual service and food that is not extremely over priced. read more

My brunch experience yesterday at The Duplex was incredibly disheartening. I had a 1:30 reservation and when the waitress welcomed us, we ordered 2 bottomless mimosas. The waitress brought our mixers, but we had to wait an additional 15 minutes for our champagne. When it arrived, it was warm. When we attempted to place our food order, the waitress let us know that one of the items that we wanted, the French Toast, was not available. We asked for a couple of minutes to check out the menu again. We were given an additional 20 minutes. When we finally placed our food order, it was 2:30pm. We asked for 1 order of Chicken and Waffles and 1 order of Shrimp and Grits. After 3:30 arrived and our food still had not, we asked for an additional bottle of champagne and an update on our order. We were informed that they had run out of champagne. "I know, it's giving ghetto" was the explanation that we received about the lack of champagne, but we accepted the substitute bottle of rose and pressed about our food. The waitress checked and came back and informed us that they did not have Shrimp and Grits. I inquired as to when they discovered that they wouldn't be able to complete my order, as I had been waiting for over an hour at this point, but was not given a clear answer and told that we would need to make a substitute order. I declined and asked for the bill, as I didn't want to wait any longer. Around 2:15pm, a large group of 15-20 people came in and were seated immediately. Not only did they get their food before we did, but they also got entrees that we were told were not available. I understand that things happen, but there's no way I should have had to wait for over an hour to then be told that my food is food is unavailable, especially when that entrée was a replacement because my first choice was also unavailable. The waitress tried her best, but overall, the entire experience was tremendously frustrating. The service was flat out not good and every single beverage provided, from the champagne to the mixers and the water in between, were never any colder than room temp. Additionally, to add insult to injury, the waitress still asked for me to select a gratuity option when paying the bill, as if the 20% mandatory gratuity option that's added to every check wasn't enough, especially after having to pay to secure our reservation to begin with. $104 for three bottles of Champagne and juice does not constitute a complete brunch and good music and vibes cannot make up for bad service and non-existent food. read more

My sis and I came for brunch and we loved it. The DJ was great!!!! Every song was a good song. Our food and drinks were good. We had the chicken and waffle and the burnt ends and grits. My one area of improvement is that they have a unique ordering concept. At least, we had never encountered it. You order everything yourself through the app. It was not explained very well to us by the hostess. It was our first time and we had questions about the menu, but who was our server? We have no idea. No one came by until we after we ordered. It's an annoyance to me when places charge 20% automatic gratuity and the service isn't great. Once we got past the ordering, we had a great time. The runners were all nice, and things came out at a pretty good pace. The app is a great idea and works well for groups. It just needs to be explained for first timers. There are "directions" on the table, but they need to be more detailed, in my opinion. It needs to be written from the POV of a person who has never encountered it before. I LOVE The Duplex! My first time trying it was back in the summer of 2021 and it quickly became my go to spot on Friday evenings as well as the spot I took anyone visiting from out of town! Everyone I've ever brought to The Duplex has loved it as much as I do. I love the rotating menu...it's such a unique concept and such an awesome way to showcase a nice variety of food and chefs. I recently got to try their brunch menu and the shrimp & grits were superb! The DJs and music adds such an awesome vibe and all the drinks I've tried (which are a pretty decent amount lol) are on point! I almost forgot something very important...the service! From the host/hostess to the wait staff as well as the bartenders, everyone is always super nice and gives great food and drink recommendations. Always a great experience! read more

Came to this place after seeing it on someone's Instagram page. The ambiance was very nice!! The drinks were stellar and so was the food. The cool thing about this place is that the food is from various restaurants so the food menu will be rotated. We also realized that this place is black owned and the owner was very nice!! Also the restaurant gives complimentary shots upon arrival and most tables have outlets for charging. Gave one less star because it was sort of a hassle to reorder on the app; I kept having to re-login and it kept asking for another guest name although I was dining alone. I'll start with the good. The dj was great. The staff were accommodating when we had to send food back, and when we were asked to give up our table for a bigger party, they comped us mimosas prior to moving us. My biggest gripe with this place was the food. Majority of the food was average at best. My friend got the Triska and she said it was better than the last time that she had it. The stuffed brioche French toast I heard was also good from two people at my party. I got the everything bagel sandwich, and I should've known it was gonna be an issue after I tried to cut the bagel with my butter knife and I didn't cut. From larger steak tonight instead and it was still incredibly difficult to cut. The bagel was rockhard and a very difficult . The potato wedges were undercooked. Two people ordered the shrimp and grits, and there were five small shrimp, drowning in a bowl of grits. The shrimp themselves were extremely heavy with lemon flavor, which made the bite very tart. My friends wanted to sub those meals for the chicken and waffles, but they had run out of that. Overall very underwhelmed with the food. I will come here for drinks and ambience. read more

There is no service here. When I came here even the front of house wasn't there. I went to the bar so not a problem. Well, there's no service there as well. Everything is required that you have to use a QR code to get a menu that is tied to you. There are no people behind the bar, just ticket takers. The robots, that look like people, are just there to drop your food at your place, and if you're lucky they'll give you silverware or more water. Ordered: A chicken sandwich ($13), a bowl of fries (the sandwich doesn't come with fries at all nor is it stated on the menu) ($6) and 2 cocktail drinks. The drinks were fantastic. The chicken sandwich was ok, it's more of a flattened chicken thigh breaded and fried. (For the value not great, if you were paying $9 it'd be a good deal) Fries: for one person that was crazy. Total with service force-included: $61 for 2 cocktail drinks, a chicken sandwich and fries. This concept works in SFO or HKG where the COL is insane and if the prices were reflective of this. This would be a very reasonable cost in SFO. But for this place you're paying crazy prices for very little and you're getting Mcdonalds level service at a 20% tip. ---- Saw that the owner followed up on another review (he complained about the review being copied and pasted on google and yelp.. time to do the same): Yes, they're food runners. When you have actively flag them down to beg for a refill on water or hope that they see that you don't have utensils. The only reason you interact with a "human" there is because you already ordered without interaction.. that's a food runner. The experience is incredibly dystopian. read more

We had a reservation for 1pm, which we did have to wait an hour due to some issues with others not wanting to get up from their tables, however, the manager accommodated our party. The manager, the owner and our host were all kind and provided us with great service. The chicken/waffles and wings were good. We had our cards out waiting to check out for a good 20 minutes and he didn't acknowledge it. Eventually I asked a bar back (he was very kind!) if we could check out and he assisted. This place has an online toast tab system. I appreciate places that are minimizing contact for the safety of everyone, but this should be communicated to customers. Came here randomly while out and about for brunch date with a friend. The brunch offerings were fairly priced and seemed bouji and exciting....which may be why I ended up extremely disappointed. I got the mushroom/spinach/goat cheese omelette. The problem is there was no seasoning! Lacked all but the natural flavors of the vegetables. I tasted zero goat cheese which annoyed me because that was the main reason I ordered this dish. I was also very put off on a couple super crunchy/hard mushrooms. Very off putting. My friend got the Mac and cheese and it was ok and looked beautiful, but yet again lacked seasoning. There was also no salt on the table to help solve my problem. The savory potato's were misleading as well, they were just crunchy shoe string hash browns with loads of bell peppers. Yet again, wouldn't have gotten those if they advertised there was bell peppers in them. The saving grace of brunch and the reason I am leaving a 3 star review instead of a 2 star is because the drinks were delightful. I had the mescal smoke house. It was delicious. Renovation was ok, mostly paint and wall covering. men's room looked rushed (ceiling and plumbing fixtures) and lights flicker. Many other places in Logan are better put together with their fit and finish. A sandwich, 2 tacos and 2 drinks and sides were over $80 (sides are not included in sandwiches). Seems a bit steep given what you get. For some constructive criticism: Mac and cheese was like a cheese noodle soup. Tacos were 50/50 on taste Chicken sandwich was good The last word cocktail had way too much chartreuse. Dates hashtag was good. Cornbread is good, but wouldn't order again. Music was good, staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Given the other options in this price point I would go elsewhere for lunch/dinner (can't speak for brunch) Hopefully the other food concepts that come in will do better and if pricing aligns better.
