All items can is wow...The place has not been open long, but what a hidden. Gem. This is one of the nicer bars in the Winston downtown area and somewhere we frequent, especially when we have someone visiting us and we want to show them around! We have tried many of their drinks- both their own creations and classic drinks, like a dirty martini. There's something for everyone here. They make everything so well and the vibes are impeccable. This could very well be my new favorite cocktail bar in Winston! I loved every single thing about it. We had reservations on Valentine's Day at Tuscani so decided to pop in for a drink beforehand. Was immediately greeted by staff upon entering. We were very excited for The Dutch Light to open in Bailey Power Plant! The space is gorgeous and has a dark green aesthetic with modern fixtures and a very pleasant vibe. For my cocktail I chose the seasonal Apple Pickin' I thought overall the cocktail was good not great. It was a whiskey sour riff and had egg whites however the cocktail didn't take on the velvety smooth texture or have the fantastic foam you expect with egg whites. However, the flavor of the cocktail was well balanced. As far as the service all the staff were very friendly. However, it was evident some lacked bar tending experience and I somewhat attributed that to the lack of proper shake for the egg whites. Additionally, the cocktail prices while not outrageous, were definitely on the higher end compared to other Winston establishments. All in all this place is new and there space is awesome but in regards to drinks there are definitely kinks to work out. Excited to see them improve! read more

On the second floor of the Bailey Park "adult fun area" is The Dutch Light, a new cocktail, wine, and beer bar. They have ample seating and cool ambiance to go with a fairly large menu. We went to Dutch Light after having dinner at Alma Mexicana, both in the Innovation Quarter of Winston Salem in the Bailey Power Plant. We arrived around 8:30 pm on a Saturday night. The place was crowded not packed by then with 21 to 45 year olds and four of us outside of that age range. We were able to get a booth right away. The booths are designed to be about half the size of a typical lounge booth, which we found to be cozy and intimate, which we liked. There is no table service so I stood at the bar for an extended period because it appeared that there were only two bar tenders working. At least two more were needed with the size of the crowd there. While waiting for our turn to order, my friend and I were able to interact with a number of the twenty something customers. While we brought the average age of the lounge up dramatically, we found that the younger crowd treated us not necessarily like we were "one of them" but not like their grandparents. The bartender was very knowledgeable about different cocktails but they didn't have the ingredients to make some of the more common after dinner cocktails. The lounge itself is well decorated but I suggest that to pull off the vibe they seem to want they turn off the tvs at 7:00 pm and have a sufficient sound system to have background music that the younger crowd would like. The windows and balcony overlook Bailey Park, which is a plus. They could have opened all of the sliding doors and the inside crowd would have felt like part of the celebration outside. We will go back. I think they need more than two bartenders on busy nights as well as table service. read more

My drink was supposed to have a "lemongrass" flavor which was the main reason I ordered it cuz I love me some lemongrass!;-) But it tasted like a weak G & T; nothing special.
