The Dynamo Room is a welcome addition to the Penn Station/Madison Square Garden area--an area that has long been underserved when it comes to quality dining. It delivers a refined steakhouse experience without feeling overly formal or stuffy. The room is attractive and energetic, clearly designed with pre-event crowds and Midtown professionals in mind, yet it never feels chaotic. Brightly lit with a lively bar scene and David Bowie playing in the background, the atmosphere strikes a nice balance between upscale and approachable. Service was attentive, professional, and efficient, even with a busy dining room. The menu leans classic steakhouse with a modern touch. Cocktails are well executed, with the martinis in particular standing out. I sat at the bar and ordered the "Dynamo Trio," which includes a dirty martini, a small Caesar salad, and beef-fat fries--a smart, satisfying combination. What really sets The Dynamo Room apart is its location paired with consistency. It's an excellent option before a game or show at MSG or a Broadway performance, without having to compromise on food quality. Overall, it's a strong choice for a polished Midtown meal and a restaurant I would happily return to.

We came to celebrate a friend's birthday with a large group of 10 people. Lucky for us, one of our friends is a chef and knows the amazing Chef Derek Boccagno, the Executive Chef here at The Dynamo Room. What a wonderful time was had!! The restaurant was very pretty and right outside of Madison Square Garden. For the food, where do I even begin? I can just say we ate everything brought to the table and were stuffed! I tried things I never thought I would and enjoyed just about everything. Anything not enjoyed would be just my palate but no one at the table complained. We had just about everything on the menu: the Parker House Rolls with the Salted Butter, the full Raw Bar, the Caesar and Waldorf salads, Bigeye Tuna Tartare, Oysters Meuniere, Steak Tartare, Salt & Vinegar Chips, Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, Tartare Sauce, BBQ Bone Marrow, Honeynut Squash Ravioli and the Spaghetti Vongole... that was just to start! Now I'm not a big lover of tartare but I did enjoy the Tuna and the Salt & Vinegar chips were spectacular. A fun experience was having the waiter (I wish I knew his name because he was truly great) come out with the cuts of meat and a full explanation of what each cut was. We then continued eating the following: Chicken Kiev, Pork Tomahawk, Salmon, and several cuts of steak. I know we had the Porterhouse, Filet, and NY Strip. After a while I lost count of all of the food. For the sides we had them all, Fries, Onion Rings, Potato Mash, Mac & Cheese, Creamed Spinach, Steamed Broccoli and the Green Beans. All were amazing. My favorite sauces were BBQ Beurre Blanc and the Chimi Churri. For desserts, we had the Triple Chocolate Layer Cake, Carrot Cake, Apple Crumb Cake and Banana's Foster Sticky Toffee Pudding. Some also had espressos at the end of the meal. For drinks I personally had a margarita which was really well and we had a few bottles of Pinot Noir with dinner. All in all, I would come back any day and my absolute compliments to the Chef. The dinner was truly an incredible experience!

I've been to The Dynamo Room now twice, once for a Friday night Happy Hour a few weeks ago, and once for lunch this past Thursday afternoon. Based on these two experiences, stick with their Happy Hour - the drinks and food are significantly better and cheaper. From the outside, Dynamo looks like it's been around for decades, which I mean as a compliment - it comes off like a 1960s steakhouse that hasn't been upgraded in years, so I was surprised to find out from my colleagues that it was a relatively new addition (last year or so) to the neighborhood. And it's pretty spiffy inside. If you have the ability and it's open, I'd recommend asking to go to the back bar, which is a much more intimate, quieter bar area than its sibling right by the entrance. Also has some serious Mad Men vibes, which I'm into. From what we were told, the back bar is not consistently open and is usually only available when it's busier. Take advantage of it if you can. When I stopped by for lunch two days ago, I sat at the entrance bar, which was quiet midday. I got the House Old Fashioned, along with a plain hamburger (medium rare) that came with a heaping pile of fries. The drink was not very good; part of it might have been the generic bourbon - I'm used to the higher end stuff - but mostly it was an overpour combined with not enough emphasis on the bitters. The result was a cocktail that tasted not dissimilar from gasoline. I waited for the ice cubes to melt before drinking most of it, but big miss on a classic cocktail that even with the house spirits cost $20. Too expensive and not good enough. And that also means that if I'd tried to upgrade it with better bourbon, it would have probably cost closer to $30. I will say that the Old Fashioned I had a few weeks earlier in the back bar was excellent - I had it with Basil Hayden and it was well made. A tale of two cocktails. The burger was fine. It was a LITTLE greasier than it should be, but pretty tasty overall. It was cooked exactly how I asked (medium rare) and since it's a steakhouse, it showed up with a knife sticking out of it, which is a fun optic. Not bad but honestly wouldn't get it again because it cost...get ready...$30. I'm sorry, I get that you're right over by MSG in a pricey area even for NYC standards, but $30 for a good but not great burger is obscene. That's just an out-and-out price gouge. The fries were actually better than the burger in my opinion, cooked thoroughly, but needed the accompanying ketchup for flavoring purposes. For that prior Happy Hour, we got some of the bougier beef fat fries, which were noticeably better than these as well. The service both times was decent. I wouldn't classify either of the bartenders as friendly (especially the one in the back bar), but I don't need my hand held in these situations. Both bartenders got my drinks and food over promptly, even though the latter drink was lacking, but in terms of efficiency and turnaround time, I can't argue with the quality there. Definitely never stopping by for a quick lunch again - the business model here just isn't set up for it, but if you do, try to hit up their lunch specials/Happy Hour section to lessen the financial blow. What's annoying about that section of the menu though is that it's super limited; you can only get two or three of the entree items listed in the normal lunch menu. I'm not averse to spending some Jacksons at lunch from time to time, but $63 for a burger and a drink (with tip) is honestly pretty insulting. You have a ton of options in this city, and unless you have the company card and/or confirmation of the open back bar, I'd keep walking.

Staff at the Dynamo Room...please, take your bow. From the time that I stood at the front door until I left the building, I was showered with kindness, impeccable service. Shot out to Bryan, the mixologist who made my evening more pleasant. He's the man. I hope when you visit that you're lucky enough to to taste one of his drinks. The vibe was fire! The tables and the bar area was packed. And the food??! Forget about it. Accessible entrance.

Easily one of the best new restaurants to open recently and definitely the new top spot for a nicer meal before or after an event at MSG right next door. The newest and biggest venture from Sunday Hospitality, this is a huge, gorgeous steakhouse that also has a big patio that will be the place to be before a Knicks game, which sadly could've been this week, but alas we must wait until next year. Start with the Parker House Rolls of course, but there is also an excellent raw bar section plus all the steakhouse classics. The desserts are great too, especially the Cheesecake.

I visited The Dynamo Room around 2 p.m. and ordered the Express Lunch Steak Frites. I'll start by saying the service was truly exceptional. The staff checked in on me frequently, ensuring I had everything I needed and was enjoying my meal. I genuinely appreciate that level of customer service. The express lunch includes fresh house rolls with salted butter, a Caesar salad, and the Steak Frites. Overall, the food was decent and had a great portion for lunch. Everything was well-seasoned and flavorful, though the steak and fries were pretty standard, nothing particularly remarkable. The dish came with a house steak sauce, which wasn't my personal favorite. The restaurant itself is stunning and has a beautiful atmosphere. Its central location makes it easy to find, especially if you're looking for a quick drink or bite before catching a train or heading to MSG. While the food didn't stand out to me, I would definitely return because of the service and perhaps for dinner - to try other entrées.

This place was great. The atmosphere was everything you could imagine. Great friendly staff and guest. The food was fantastic and the drinks... let's just say I love the bartender. I can't wait to visit again.

Disappointing. More of a scene than a restaurant. A step up from Applebees. Go for drinks at the Dynamo Room and then have dinner somewhere else.

Best dessert program in NYC. All desserts are amazing. My recommendation would be to get the burger, drenched, then get as many desserts as you can. Excellent service. The manager, Manny, ensured I had an elevated dining experience. Very clean restaurant and bathrooms.

A great new find right by MSG! We were 35 minutes early for our reservation and they sat us right away. Our waitress Taylor was the best. She was patient with us as we ordered in courses, suggested great pairings, and was extremely bubbly and kind. We felt like old friends of hers by how welcoming and outgoing she was. The ambiance was nice though a little cramped in some of the booths. The Parker house rolls with the butter were delicious and fresh, the Cesar salad also incredibly fresh and a huge portion. The bbq bone marrow is RICH and delicious. So unique and happy we tried it. The spaghetti appetizer was absolutely amazing I could've eaten it for my meal. We shared the wagyu NY strip with garlic Ju and oh my gosh it was to die for. Could not have picked a more perfect pairing. Taylor made me an iced latte and brought out a complimentary carrot cake for my husbands birthday. For what we spent I feel like it was all absolutely worth it and we will definitely be back.

Newest addition to the Penn Station area food scene doesn't disappoint. Great looking room with.vibe and service to match. Oysters on the half shell are a great start and the 50 day dry aged ribeye has fantastic flavor. Nice dessert lineup to finish up the meal but the carrot cake is the standout.

My first time and the food did not disappoint. This is a nice spot for a quaint dinner near Madison Square garden. My steak was cooked to perfection. My ceasar was flavorable and my broccoli not as steamed as what I would prefer. The service was okay. I had to inquire about specials and noticed others were visually shown all the steak options while I was just asked if I was ready to order. I'd likely request a more attentive server next time, but an overall solid experience.

We found this beautiful place while coming to MGS for a concert..I was worried because we were dressed for a County Concert (jeans and flannels) and this beautiful restaurant looks "high end"..the hostess welcomed us with no reservations. The staff was very nice..the place is beautiful with an awesome Vibe (as you would expect with its perfect location) The food was absolutely Delicious!! Of course the price was on par with the location, quality of the steaks, and fine wine selection..meaning, this isn't a once a week kinda place..but for a special occasion, date night, or impressing clients who are visiting NYC, absolutely perfect. Definitely put this gorgeous steak house on your list and Enjoy!!

The food, the atmosphere, and the service are always excellent, but somehow I had never felt compelled to write a review until this visit. The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.
